Dennis Prager Show - Adam Carolla: I'm Your Emotional Support Animal Aired: 2020-06-19 Duration: 02:56 === Only If You Know My Race (02:24) === [00:00:00] I just want to note this notion that, well, only if you know I'm black do you know about me because then you know my experience. [00:00:13] The whole notion of knowing your experiences to know you is not true. [00:00:19] You and I, that's like one of the key selling points of our combined work together. [00:00:27] Whether it's, you know, appearing in public, dialogues, or the movie No Safe Spaces that we made. [00:00:33] We come from backgrounds that couldn't be more different and still be in the continental United States. [00:00:41] Does it matter? [00:00:42] No. [00:00:43] Obviously, I always say what we have in common is common sense. [00:00:48] Right. [00:00:49] And if you don't believe that's true... [00:00:52] Think about somebody who is like you. [00:00:55] Let's say for me, a white person with Italian heritage who enjoys automobiles. [00:01:01] The second I find out that we disagree on something that's fundamental to me, they're out. [00:01:09] And you could take a Nigerian-born triathlete, and the second we agree on some of the same principles, they're in. [00:01:18] Right! [00:01:19] That's how everyone is. [00:01:20] Yes! [00:01:21] Why isn't that obvious? [00:01:23] Okay, so your take on, since I last saw you, this country has had convulsions. [00:01:32] What's your take? [00:01:34] You know, I always say all roads lead to narcissism. [00:01:39] This thing of, you know, I felt the same during the Women's March. [00:01:43] You guys are living longer. [00:01:46] You're better educated. [00:01:48] You get a break on your auto insurance. [00:01:50] What is the point? [00:01:52] What are we marching for? [00:01:53] And what we're marching for is so that I can make a sign and be seen and be heard. [00:01:58] We have to fill a void. [00:02:00] We don't have problems. [00:02:01] We've talked about this a million times. [00:02:03] We don't have problems. [00:02:04] You and I look at that as a blessing. [00:02:07] Good. [00:02:07] We can get on with our lives. [00:02:08] Many people now need to create a problem to work on. === Relittering The Park (00:47) === [00:02:13] A guy who, your job is to go through the park, you have a, we have a stick with a nail on the end of it and you pick up garbage for a living. [00:02:21] But what happens one day when there's no more litter in the park? [00:02:24] Well, the answer is grab the trash can and empty it and kick the garbage around and now you can go back out and do your job. [00:02:31] That's essentially where we're at as a nation. [00:02:33] We're essentially out of real problems. [00:02:37] The park is clean. [00:02:38] So we have to relitter the park and create work for ourselves to give ourselves meaning. [00:02:45] It's one of the joys of my life hearing Adam Carolla. [00:02:49] His new book, which is hilarious, by the way. [00:02:52] I'm getting the Audible edition. [00:02:54] Do you read the Audible? [00:02:55] Oh, hell yes.
