and when you think you'll live long you waste a lot of time Thank you.
This makes sense, obviously.
If you knew you'd live till 200 and somebody said, you know, there's a book you should read, you'd say, okay, I'll do it in 26 years.
I've always said this because it's true.
Death gives life meaning.
And, you know, I certainly don't like it.
It's a bummer to be cavalier about it.
It's a painful thing that everyone you love will die and you will die and I will die.
On the other hand, it does, in fact, infuse life with intense meaning.
Alright everybody, welcome to the show.
Two California schools named for Washington and Jefferson will be getting new names after Black Lives Matter push.
This is a news report from Fox News yesterday.
Two San Francisco area elementary schools named after a pair of founding fathers who owned slaves will get new names.
After a school board approved a Black Lives Matter resolution last week.
Boy, Black Lives Matter, the organization, went from radical fringe to mainstream, not because it changed, but because the dominant culture moves leftward at the speed of light.
That's an amazing thing.
Even putting Black Lives Matter aside, the notion that schools would no longer be named after the people who founded the freest country in human history, I don't know how anything will be named after almost anybody.
But it doesn't matter what it says.
The most important point is, aside from the incredible lack of wisdom, You don't judge people's behaviors the same today as you did in their time.
You judge them according to their time.
They were giants.
Washington and Jefferson were giants.
Because they founded such a free country.
It's less free today.
Certainly in the most important freedom, freedom of speech.
God bless Ted Cruz.
Senator Ted Cruz is by far the biggest activist in the U.S. Senate or House on behalf of free speech.
He's called out Google, which was about to apparently demonetize the Federalist, a major conservative news site, because NBC News had snitched on them.
And I'm sure NBC News has used the word McCarthyism.
This is McCarthyism on steroids.
Anyway, look, they're so far left, so radical, essentially communist, that the editor, the long-standing editor of the New York Times, the editor of the opinion page, was removed by the younger staff.
Because he published a piece by a Republican senator making the case for using troops to stem riots, not protest riots.
He made a distinction in the article.
You don't publish what you don't agree with, which is the case.
I don't read the news items in the New York Times anymore.
I only read the opinion page to get an idea about what the left thinks.
What frenzied idea will they come up with next?
What hatred?
The most hate-filled pages are the opinion pages of the Washington Post and the New York Times and the like.
Remember when I say they lie?
Remember the example I gave you of the Los Angeles Times?
I've got to copy that headline.
Editorial.
What was it?
Atlanta police kill man found drunk at Wendy's.
That's why they killed him.
but the whopper for the lies of the left and remember truth is not a left-wing value you have to say that every day to understand the world better it's not that they they don't care if they lie that's the difference the man who ran for vice president of the united states declared a whopping lie On the floor of the U.S. Senate,
Tim Kaine, I will play it for you.
This is Owen Strand for townhall.com.
A call is going out now for the dismantling of the Minneapolis Police Department.
The President of the City Council said this when asked about what to do in the case of a break-in.
Yes, I mean, I hear that loud and clear from a lot of my neighbors, and I know, and myself too, and I know that that comes from a place of privilege, because for those of us for whom the system is working, I think we need to step back and imagine what it would feel like to already live in that reality, where I think we need to step back and imagine what it would feel like to already live in that There's no doubt that our cities and communities need restoration, including greater peaceful engagement between police and citizens.
Yet the idea that wanting protection is privilege is not sound.
In fact, it's absurd and won't restore anything.
Police who act unjustly are accountable to the rule of law and must be.
But there is no need to qualify what a society without police will look like.
More harm will surely be done.
May coming days bring greater safety and meaningful restoration.
I'm Owen Strand.

The five-minute campaign strategy as of today.
Would it be spend all your time, resources, energy, and policy on PA in Wisconsin?
Well, it's not going to be that simple because the Democrats are going to be attempting to You know, go after Arizona.
They've signaled that.
If they went Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Arizona, he's Biden's president of the United States.
They're going to go after Florida because it's perennially close.
They're going to have to make a decision about North Carolina.
Are they going to go there?
They're thinking they want to try and do Georgia, but they may not have the resources.
So the problem is you can't just simply say, okay, I'm going to put all my chips on.
You know, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, because they're going to have to be playing defense in these other states.
The advantage that Trump has is that he's got more resources, and he's got a bigger, better digital infrastructure, which will matter a lot.
So, you know, he's going to be able to play in all those states.
He can play in three Great Lakes states.
He can play in Iowa.
He can play in North Carolina.
He can play in Florida.
He can play in Arizona.
But I'm not yet certain that they...
That the Biden campaign is going to have the resources to compete in all of those states.
I mean, Florida is a $50 to $70 million proposition.
And North Carolina is a $35 to $50 million proposition.
So those, you know, you start...
And we haven't talked about Ohio.
Isn't that interesting how...
Little we talk about Ohio this election.
My home state has gained its confidence under Michael DeMuy.
My home state is solid red.
You had to worry about it in your election, but we've got that locked up now.
Yeah, I think that's right.

For folks like you and me, this was a moment ago, especially for you.
You lived through this.
You were an adult.
This was your friend.
This was a student.
And the parallels with what are happening in this country today are so striking.
I mean, we could have talked about this book just because it's the 50th anniversary and it's a good book and it's interesting.
You know, you and I have met, but I mean, the parallels to what is happening right now in this country...
You're about to hear the lethal combination of the left in one person.
Tim Kaine.
It is a statement, what is he, Virginia?
It's a statement, just as it is about California.
I'm not being chauvinistic.
That people elect such people is depressing.
You know, again, I'm reading this biography of John Quincy Adams.
Terrible fear of the mob.
He was right.
I do too.
Remember, I've been saying all my life how important it is to realize human nature is not basically good.
You realize that on the left, there's no serious character education.
There isn't even unserious character education.
Right and wrong are what you feel at any given moment.
Oh, there's a major injustice.
So I will demonstrate, and in some cases I will destroy, the lack of thought.
Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, when you knock out the pillars, Of a society, the house falls down.
Is that not obvious?
That's it.
That's all you need to know.
You can't still have your house if you knock out the pillars.
Jefferson and Washington are pillars.
They're knocked out.
The house falls down.
And yet...
What the left does is so focus your attention on a man named Donald Trump that somehow or other, hatred of Donald Trump, dislike of Donald Trump, is supposed to be greater than the nihilistic damage done by the left.
Let's hear Tim Kaine.
It was on the floor of the U.S. Senate.
I'm sorry, how did we get to that?
That's not what I have here.
I don't have no interest in his thoughts on the current situation.
Only on...
What's written here?
The first African Americans.
So when you find that, let me know.
What he said was the United States invented, created slavery.
The United States created slavery.
They'll say anything.
It's the twin pillars, lying and defaming.
If you knock out those pillars, then the house of the left crumbles.
Just as if you knock out Jefferson and Washington, the American house crumbles.
We created it.
Isn't that a fascinating thing?
Yep.
It got created out of slavery by the...
1619, you get it?
This is the New York Times Effect.
This is the New York Times Effect.
This is the New York Times Effect.
Okay, it's mumbo-jumbo.
You realize that?
This man is a U.S. Senator.
I'm at a loss for words.
you It didn't even make sense aside from we created slavery.
We didn't inherit it.
It just was developed.
There was no slave trade prior to 1619. Every society on earth, my dear listeners, had slavery, including Black, African, Native American, Asian, And whatever else existed.
And you all know, obviously, about the Greeks and the Romans.
That was the most ubiquitous institution, slavery.
It's one of the examples I give when I tell people human nature is not basically good.
The ubiquity of slavery.
If people were basically good, how could they own other people?
Why wasn't there a voice in them saying, this is wrong?
Took a long time to get rid of it.
Now, yes, I just got a sheet.
Two schools honoring Washington and Jefferson to be renamed in support of Black Lives Matter.
That I didn't know.
I knew that they were being renamed.
Who is this from?
Yeah, that's right.
Washington Examiner?
Yeah, but we'll see what that means.
Anyway, it's bad enough that they're taking the names down.
This is one of the questions that needs to be asked of Joe Biden.
See, he gets to avoid questions because he doesn't answer any.
He's not even...
I don't think that he opposed it to him other than, how are you?
Do you support the renaming of schools that were named after Thomas Jefferson and George Washington?
Folks, to give you an idea of the radical change in America, I'd like to tell a high school kid today that when I was in elementary school, We not only had a national holiday called Washington's Birthday, but we put on Washington's Birthday plays.
I know I was in one in elementary school.
I don't think I was George Washington.
I do remember having a crush on Betsy Ross.
But for me to have a crush was sort of like breathing.
So that doesn't tell you much.
What do they have plays about today in elementary school?
Isn't that an interesting question?
Do they honor anything about America?
Do Jewish and Christian schools, forget it, secular, do they say the Pledge of Allegiance?
My article is on religious schools.
Take a look.
my this column this week trending now on the eric metaxas show hey folks welcome back i'm I'm talking to Charlie Kirk.
Charlie, one of the most disturbing things I've seen recently is some of these activists who are clearly bullies.
I mean, there's a violence, you can feel it, that they're very angry and they're approaching strangers on the street and demanding that these strangers take a knee.
Or that the cops take a knee.
And I just think, I've never seen anything so ugly that cops are being yelled at to take a knee.
I mean, they should say, well, I'll take a knee if you take a knee for Jesus Christ.
You go first.
Yeah, that's a phenomenal point, and I'm going to use it, which is, you know, these are people that won't kneel for God, but they'll kneel because of some sort of pre-described class guilt.
And so this is...
This is a really important point, Eric, which is this whole idea of white privilege is a racist and sinister lie that is taught to our kids from a very, very young age.
And I find the whole idea morally reprehensible.
That your identity, your skin color, that's not even your identity, by the way.
That's just your appearance.
Let's just make that very clear.
That identity actually can mean a lot more.
It could be your thoughts, your feelings, your worldview.
And actually what has made the West so different, which was an idea that Jesus talked about, and people don't recognize this, is that equality under the law was nowhere to be seen.
I mean, the Roman Republic paled in comparison to the Christian ethic.
When Christ said, no, no, no, no, you're all equal under the eyes of God.
We just forget and we just throw that all out in our society.
That's why Trump holding up that Bible was so significant.

Freedom is oxygen.
Like the air we breathe that keeps our lungs full and our hearts beating, the celestial feeling of freedom brings a sense of peace to our souls.
Hello, everybody.
Bye. .
I'm Dennis Prager, and I have a dear soul here, and one of the funniest people I know, and he should be, because he makes a living making people laugh.
Tom Dreesen.
Yes, he does deserve a massive applause.
Let me see your book.
You should see the reviews on Amazon of the book.
When did it come out?
And here you are.
Still standing, my journey from streets and saloons to the stage and Sinatra.
Tom Dreesen.
I have heard you at so many events that I have spoken, and I'm always amazed that somebody with political views that are not on the left can be funny.
I don't find the leftist comics funny at all, because they just assume that smearing and cursing It makes people laugh.
But we don't associate conservatives with laughter.
We associate them with happiness.
Everybody knows conservatives are happier than liberals and certainly than leftists.
But you are a funny guy.
Let me ask you on a personal note, what has it been like to be in lockdown?
It's very difficult because the first thing I do is part of my business.
In 50 years I've been a standard comedian.
So when you take the paper, now even if we go back, we're talking about the air, you're going to say, okay, you can go back.
We just cut off our election .
So by the way, I wanna say one thing.
One of the things you may not remember said to me when I .
One of my jokes was, my line was that .
They didn't know I was .
Right.
I remember that.
That's one of the few lines I remember.
Not a view of, I just don't remember lines, but that's right.
That's right.
You use adjectives.
It's an eerie thing.
that's part of the the decline of society the reliance on on such words right
want to be going to be right as a business we're in show business that personal so it was a basic one appearance on the ready friends
did one of CBS and the business wow yes it was a stupid business
hey I can't leave some women on the way that's exactly right so your journey from streets and saloons you grew up in the streets and saloons of Chicago
this is to shine back into all the Jews, the fetus brothers and sisters, hearing Sinatra's cry.
So this book is the journey from Harvey, Illinois, the King Shoe, who one day came to the Jews.
Is that right?
You were one of the poll bearers?
Wow.
Well, I got a lot to talk to you about.
What do we have here, my friend?
We're good.
Now, were you always conservative?
I was born.
It means that the second you come to the womb, introduce you to the womb, then you get to meet your mom and dad.
So if you're a doctor, you get into the womb.
That's what I say about New York.
They had sex male party Democrat on my birth certificate.
We'll be back in a moment.
Tom Dreesen's book is up at DennisPrager.com.
This is a great time to laugh.
It's very necessary, and this will make you do that.
Read the reviews of the book at Amazon.
It's called Still Standing, Tom Dreesen.
And now, my friends, if you're in pain, you want to get out of pain.
I have a relief factor on me.
I took this fall on my back playing a form of tennis, and thank God for relief factor is all I can say.
If you're in pain, they have a very good deal for you.

If it doesn't work in three weeks, don't renew.
It probably won't work.

800-500-8384 trending now on the Larry Alder show what do you make of what's going on in our streets these protests these riots
Well, you know, unfortunately, the things that were done to that poor individual, you know, Mr. Floyd, are things that should not be done to an animal.
And that's enough to enrage anyone.
So I understand the rage.
But unfortunately, there are others who are hiding behind peaceful protesters who are not peaceful people at all.
And I think that dishonors the man who died.
It also dishonors Dr. Martin Luther King, who was an advocate for nonviolent protests and was able to bring about the greatest civic changes ever.
And I don't know of any situation where violent, destructive protests have been helpful.
Dr. Carson, even Mr. Floyd's brother has made a statement and has said that my brother would not have been happy about this.
And before George Floyd died, Dr. Carson, he had a Facebook post where he was talking about black-on-black crime and how hideous he thought it was and that we need to get our arms around that.
And the black community really needs to start talking about that issue because, you know, how many young black men are killed every weekend in Chicago?
But because it's black on black crime, we don't care about that.

America has been doing some soul searching lately.
Perhaps you noticed.
We're examining what's right with America and what can be made better.
No other country does this kind of introspection better than us.
Some of what we've found we don't like and will change.
Every life has the right to be treated with dignity and respect.
That includes our law enforcement as well as every skin color.
We've been through this before in America.
We always came out stronger.
We will this time too.
Our hosts will make sure of that.
We are the answer.
Trending now on the Hugh Hewitt Show.
.
What happens if there's a criminal out there with a gun and starts shooting people?
Who's going to respond if there's no police force?
Look, it is our top priority to keep every single member of our community safe.
And if you look back at the last 150 years of our police department, it is becoming increasingly clear that that model of policing isn't working.
So we need to invite in our whole community, the nine members of the city council that came from every corner of our city to stand together to make this commitment.
We don't have all the answers.
And what we committed to was a community process to help reimagine public safety.
Let's stop for a second.
This is just babble.
This is just incoherent babble.
I have been a funny man, and it's very hard to be funny.
I have fantastic respect for comics.
I've always said, and tell me, Tom Dreesen is the man, and his book is still standing.
The subtitle is My Journey from Streets and Saloons to the Stage and Sinatra.
But as one reviewer on Amazon writes, it's much more than celebrity insights.
It is deeper and richer than that.
It is a story of hope and perseverance.
So, I want to talk to you for a second about my theory on comedy.
When I think of films that are made, I think the ratio of films that make you cry to films that make you laugh is probably 10 to 1. And I think there's a reason for that.
It's easy to make people cry.
You just show a mother with cancer and people cry.
But to make people laugh, I have to believe that's very hard.
When you're writing a joke, There are two rules that you want to think about.
Comedy, number one, comedy is nine-tenths surprise.
The audience laughs because they didn't think you were going to say that or do that.
So the setup line has to hide the punchline.
That's a very good point.
I didn't realize that.
The other rule is there are no victimless jokes.
Who's the victim in the joke?
Many years ago, Mort Sahl, I met him.
I was a new comedian.
I'd been in the business four months.
I snuck backstage at a club called Mr. Kelly's, and I knocked on his dressing room door, and I was nervous, and I thought his manager was going to open and run me out.
And Mort Sahl opened the door.
He said, yeah.
I said, Mr. Saul, I'm a new comedian.
I just wanted you to give me some advice.
Come on in.
He talked to me for two hours before his next show.
And I never forgot that.
That's why I've always helped other comedians.
But he said to me something interesting.
He said, do you write your own material, Tom?
I said, yes.
He said, remember, they're wrong.
I said, who?
He said, they.
I said, who are you writing about?
They're wrong.
Government, they're wrong.
Airlines, they're wrong.
Your mother-in-law, she's wrong.
You're wrong.
Somebody's wrong in this joke.
Oh, that's very interesting.
Well, you know, the difference between comedy and film and the stand-up comedian or the humorist.
Now, Dennis Prager at a podium with a lectern in front of a podium can tell a funny story and get a nice laugh.
But if Dennis Prager walks away from that podium and goes center stage and grabs a hand mic, you better be real funny.
I make audiences laugh and I know what you're saying to be true.
If I were put in the comedy club, it would not be the same thing.
In the middle of a serious speech, it's easier to make people laugh.
That's right.
At Frank Sinatra's funeral, at a very serious moment, I spoke and I made the room erupt with laughter because they needed that laugh at that time.
All of that, again, I can teach you a lot of things about stand-up comedy and I do do that for young comedians.
I give motivation speeches to comedians called The Joy of Stand-Up Comedy and How to Get There.
Insecure, neurotic, love-starved wrecks.
The one thing I can't teach you is timing.
I can teach you a lot.
It's hard to describe timing.
If I could describe timing to you, I'd say, say there's a pond of water, and you've got a rock, and you throw that rock as high in the air as you can.
And then the rock goes up as far as it can, and then it slowly comes down and hits the pond.
Now, that's laughter.
When laughter is rising, you never move on your next line.
You step on your own lap.
Sometimes I wait for the rock is a little ways down, and sometimes it's halfway down.
Sometimes I wait before I move on until it hits the pond, and some nights I let it ripple all the way across the pond.
I can't tell you how I'm going to do that before I go on stage, because I don't know how the audience is going to react to me.
My brain sets to their...
I set a timing off of their laughter.
And again, I can teach you everything but timing.
And if I did a 20-minute routine tonight at the Laugh Factory, and I did that same exact routine in front of 20,000 people opening for Frank Sinatra, it would take on a totally different dynamic because of the size of the crowd and the logistics of the room.
It's just...
Is there ever a danger...
I always think about this when I watch a stand-up comedy.
Is there ever a danger you'll forget what the next joke is?
Yeah, but Maury Amsterdam taught me a trick years ago.
He said, if you're out, and this happened, I did 61 appearances on The Tonight Show, so some nights you'd be out there.
How many?
61 appearances on The Tonight Show.
Wow.
Yeah, and so you'd be out there some nights, and Maury Amsterdam taught me a trick.
And he told me, he helped John Kennedy get elected, and he told me he had a letter from President Kennedy saying just that.
He said, if you're ever going up on your lines, you're on stage, he said, don't stop and try to force, where was I? Just keep talking and your brain will catch up.
And that works?
It works.
Sometimes, if I was out there and I was going somewhere and I lost my train of thought, I would just keep talking.
But anyhow, this is a wonderful room, and, you know, they should have paid.
By the way, marijuana.
It'll come back to you.
He said that John Kennedy, if you remember the debates between Nixon and Kennedy, when he'd ask John Kennedy a question and he didn't have it right, he'd say, that's a very good question, Mr. Chairman, and let me say this about that.
Just in those words, his brain caught up to the question.
And that happens with you?
Occasionally, you know, occasionally.
Are you allowed to bring up little tiny notes?
Just to remind yourself of stuff you want to say?
Very unprofessional.
Some comedians do it when you're trying out new material, but not when you're in a major.
I see.
You can't do that.
I mean, you can.
See, a speaker can.
Nobody cares if a speaker speaks from notes.
That's right, yeah.
I never like when speakers give a written speech.
I mean, you might as well just hand it out.
Yes.
But I tell young speakers, of course you should make notes.
Yes.
Because there are points.
I've given thousands of speeches.
I could give a five-hour speech without notes, but I always bring a few notes.
People don't know it.
It's usually written on the back of a business card.
But it's a huge help to me.
But you can't do that.
That's my point.
Well, I mean, you can put bullet points.
I do a 90-minute show called An Evening of Laughter and Memories of Sinatra.
Sometimes I call it the man who made Sinatra laugh.
And in a teleprompter that looks like a monitor, I'll have bullet points so I have continuity.
I mean, I won't have the joke written out.
First of all...
No, no, of course not.
That's what I meant.
Bullet points.
If you read a joke, it doesn't work.
I tell anybody that's doing...
If you're going to do a roast and you're going to read the joke, it's not going to be that funny.
You've got to memorize the joke.
Right, right.
But bullet points will keep you in continuity.
A beginning...
Every sentence has a beginning...
Every joke has a beginning, a middle, and an ending.
And every 90-minute show has the same thing.
So you traveled for 14 years with Frank Sinatra.
City to city.
45 to 50 cities a year.
You would be the warm-up act, as they call it.
Did you hang around in every instance to hear him, or you were done and you could leave?
There was nothing.
I could leave, but I would always.
And I toured with Sammy Davis Jr. for three years, too, and I did the same thing.
I sat in the wings and watched these great performers, their stage presence and how they approach certain things.
It was going to school.
And I had done 40-something tonight shows when I met Frank Sinatra.
I'd been around.
But he was a master.
The book is still standing.
Tom Dreesen, D-R-E-E-S-E-N. That's it.
Thank you.
Thanks.
Oh, thank you so much.

Is it of importance to us in interpreting the events of the last two plus weeks that we are seeing all of this happen predominantly in hardcore Democrat run cities, Gianna?
You know, what's interesting about that is that Democrats won't even take credit for the fact that a lot of their policies have caused this to happen.
You think about somebody like Joe Biden who goes into a George Floyd funeral with a video message talking about Racial reconciliation and healing.
Meanwhile, he's a big part of the reason why we have so much division in this country today.
You think about the 94 crime bill.
If we're going to talk about liberal cities, you can't forget about my hometown of Chicago where you got a mayor there who provided or rather asked for 375 National Guardsmen in the city of Chicago and put them all in the downtown area.
Meanwhile, the poor black areas on the south side and west sides Are left to fend for themselves.
You're talking about minority-owned businesses ruined, which they don't have money to come back.
Some of these folks don't even have insurance.
And that's across all American spectrums, whether you be white, black, or indifferent.
We just lived through COVID. And now you've got these liberals who policies have created a huge mess from a financial tax basis.
And now you're disenfranchising poor people more by way of your policies.
Even through protests and looting.
This is unimaginable.
Who would have thought that this is where we would be in 2020?
But if anybody is really listening and watching what's going on, this should be the best reason not to vote for liberals in any capacity.
That's any office, whether it be President, Senate, House, State Senate, State House, Mayor, any office.
You shouldn't be voting for Democrats.
And that's what I've taken away from this time.

Thank you.
you you My guest is Jason Riley.
He is the board member of the Wall Street Journal, also senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute.
Jason, what do you think are the remaining barriers for people to escape poverty?
Black people.
The remaining barriers are largely government-created barriers, denying kids the ability to choose the schools they want to attend, or at least their parents choosing the schools that they want their children to attend.
When black aspiring entrepreneurs want to start a business in a neighborhood, there are plenty of barriers there.
So I think they're largely government barriers.
I mean, you mentioned the title of one of my books, Please Stop Helping Us.
I don't think there's a government solution out there that's going to save black America.
I think it's mostly about black America or about government getting out of the way.
You know, minimum wage loss, the price blacks out of work, and so forth.
You know all these arguments, but that's not how the other side measures barriers.
Yeah, that's the inimitable Frank Sinatra.
A genius, in my opinion.
Tom Dreesen's memoirs are not only about Frank Sinatra, they're about life.
And he's funny.
The book is up at DennisPrager.com.

It's at least as good as my expensive service.
It's Pure Talk USA. Just go dial pound 250 and say the keyword Dennis Prager.
Tom Dreesen, has anybody compiled a list?
Because I am fascinated by Sinatra.
How many songs he sang?
He went to the studio 1,431 times.
He recorded over 100 albums and 1,200 original songs.
That's unheard of.
1,200 original songs that were written just for him.
Oh, original for him, if not by him, right.
But it came 1,200 original.
Songwriters don't, you know.
Smokey Robinson's one of my dear friends in the whole world, and he's written God knows how many songs.
But to record 1,200 original songs, that's amazing, you know.
It truly is.
In a nutshell, did those 14 years fly by?
Now when I look back, yes, they did.
And I knew that day would come someday.
In the 14 years I toured with Frank Sinatra, I turned down more sitcoms, more shows, and most comedians get offered in a lifetime.
Because I knew this was an end of an era.
And I toured with Sammy, did the Dean Martin shows, and now this was the end of an era.
By the way, that's what my book is about.
It's a show business that was before and will never be seen again.
That's right.
So it is.
The book, my friends, is still standing.
And I'll tell you this, when we do get back to normal life, God willing, and you have an event, you should bring this man, because it's important for conservatives to laugh.
Important for anybody to laugh, obviously, but we're in a very tense time.
God bless you, my friend.
You do great work.
Thank you, thank Ellen, and thank Susan.
That's a deal.
I will do so.
All right, everybody.

What do you make of what's going on in our streets, these protests, these riots?
Well, you know, unfortunately, the things that were done to that poor individual, you know, Mr. Floyd, are things that should not be done to an animal.
And that's enough to enrage anyone.
So I understand the rage.
But unfortunately, there are others who are hiding behind peaceful protesters who are not peaceful people at all.
And I think that dishonors the man who died.
It also dishonors Dr. Martin Luther King, who was an advocate for nonviolent protests and was able to bring about the greatest civic changes ever in this country.

This is the state of play, and what is the response from the left?
Mr. Mayor, please listen to Governor Jay Inslee of Washington State, where some of the worst violence is occurring on...
His responsibility, or lack thereof, to the people of his state.
Well, that's news to me, so I'll have to reserve any comment about it.
I have not heard anything about that from any credible source.
Not that you're not credible, it's just like...
Spouse an opinion I should know of which I speak.
Should a governor be laughing about losing control of the streets of one of his cities, Mr. Matt?
Well, I'm not surprised, Sebastian.
Are you?
I'm not, but what does this mean for the people living in Seattle in Washington State?
Well, I mean, I hope, I hope, I hope, I hope that the American people can observe all this.
And they can see there's no coincidence that the worst riots, the most destruction, the most loss of human life and property occurred in cities and states governed by Democrats.
It didn't happen in cities governed by Republicans.
And riots didn't happen in my city until it got a Democratic mayor again.
The last riot was under a Democratic mayor.
I avoided them for eight years and Bloomberg didn't for 12. And it's not hard to do it if you activate the police to get them to stop it.
These people, I don't know what has happened to them.
They almost seem like anarchists rather than members of a responsible political party.

Exclusive from General Flynn.
This is at westernjournal.com.
Freedom is oxygen.
Like the air we breathe that keeps our lungs full and our hearts beating, the celestial feeling of freedom brings a sense of peace to our souls.
Freedom must never be taken for granted.
Securing our freedom demands a high price.
And that price requires hard work and sacrifice.
Both will bind us all by the value they produce, but only if we are willing to seek new opportunities and new ideas.
Those who have sacrificed the most, those who have given the last true measure of devotion that derives from the love of faith, family, and the cause of freedom, for all of us to be free.
And for the betterment of our republic and the free world cannot be allowed to have died in vain.
Theirs is the ultimate sacrifice, and heaven is their reward.
Our future, the future of our children and grandchildren, and the future of our country are at stake.
God will not give way to the care of the devil.
Or allow us to be left to the evil vices of those who would steal our freedom in the dark of night.
He will not.
Instead, God will stand with us as He always does.
Hard work and personal sacrifice still very much matter.
Being a good person and showing kindness to others still matter.
Is that General Mike Flynn, my friend?
Or is it Pastor Flynn?

Hey, folks, welcome back.
I'm talking to Charlie Kirk.
Charlie, one of the most disturbing things I've seen recently Is some of these activists who are clearly bullies.
I mean, there's a violence, you can feel it, that they're very angry and they're approaching strangers on the street and demanding that these strangers take a knee or that the cops take a knee.
And I just think, I've never seen anything so ugly that cops are being yelled at to take a knee.
I mean, they should say, but they should say, they should say, "I'm not going to be able to do this."
I mean, they should say, "I'm not going to be able to do this."
I mean, they should say, "Dr. Fussbend, he is reliable, you know?" Thank you.
Every Wednesday, he doesn't miss a cue.
Hey, everybody!
This program is noted for speaking, discussing everything in life.
Do you know, many years ago, I used to say, talk about everything except, what was it, poetry?
Gardening and architecture.
That's right.
But then, somehow or other, poetry, gardening, and architecture got mentioned at one point, and now I don't know any subject that we have not at some point discussed.
But anyway, every Wednesday, male-female hour, the most honest talk I know of in the American media about men and women.
So, a lot of the topics, or about, well, a lot, Yeah, I'd say about a third of the topics that I come up with, I actually come up with in discussion with you on any given Wednesday, and then I think, ooh, that would make a really good subject.
And this one came up in passing, and then I thought, wow, what a rich subject.
And here it is.
Were you or are you in a marriage?
Thank you.
Now you may not even be able.
Well, yeah, you would be able.
Were you or are you in a marriage in which one party thinks things are fine and the other one thinks things are pretty awful?
This came about after a discussion of Were you shocked when your spouse left?
I think most people think that if there's a divorce, the couple were having trouble and it finally ended the marriage, right?
That's how most people think about a couple that divorces.
Well, you know, it didn't happen overnight.
It was a gradual erosion of respect, love, liking, and whatever it was that eroded.
So, I posed the question on a previous male-female hour, were you shocked when your partner decided to leave?
So that raises a related question, and that's the one I want to talk about now.
Not were you shocked when your partner left, but rather, Are you or were you, I guess it's related if it's the were you part, in a marriage where one party thought things were fine and the other one thought things were awful?
1-8 Prager 776. 877-243-7776.
I can imagine that.
The question is, is it...
Is it common?
Also, I think people think if one thinks things are okay and the other one thinks things are awful, that the one who thinks things are okay is clueless.
That's the way I think most people react.
Do you agree?
But it's not necessarily the case.
This is a very important point.
I can imagine a marriage in which the person who thinks things are okay has simply less expectations, fewer expectations of terrificness than the one who thinks things are awful.
Maybe the one who thinks things are awful is wrong.
When I ask this question, I am sure most people think, oh boy, there sure are clueless partners out there, not knowing how bad things are.
By the way, I have no doubt that they exist.
But I think that it is just as likely that one thinks that things are fine because it's all relative.
One might think, That things are not fine, things are awful, because they're not excited.
Well, excited is a tough term.
What if things are peaceful and kind and mutual respect, make a home, have friends, Hopefully go to church or synagogue.
And with all that, you know what, I'm just not getting something out of this.
What does that mean?
A lot of whether or not one is happy in a marriage is not dependent upon how the other treats them.
I may use them.
Him or her would be more accurate.
But rather, the expectations you bring into marriage.
The sort of pretty regular fireworks.
Now, by the way, I'm not against pretty regular fireworks.
But...
When I pose the question, the question of the hour this week, the implication that the person who doesn't know that the other one thinks things are bad is clueless is not necessarily accurate.
I believe it is often accurate.
I just want to make that clear.
All right.
1-8 Prager 776. 877-243-7776 is the number.
We ought to do that about...
The whole thing, it shows you how much of life is the philosophy you bring to it.
Two people experiencing the identical marriage in almost identical ways and one quite okay.
Even grateful for it.
And one just chomping at the bit.
Okay, everybody.
And Jan in Rochester, Michigan.
Hello.
Hi, Dennis.
Hi.
How are you?
Okay, thank you.
Well, quite some time ago, 25 years or so ago, I had two little boys.
They were three and five and thought that I was happily married, and my husband and I planned a trip away to a lake.
We rented a cabin, and I got there on Friday, and he was going to come up later that day because he had to work that day.
So I got there, and I waited and waited and waited, and he didn't show up, and then by the next day, he hadn't shown up, and I'm frantically running.
No cell phones, so I'm running to the cabin.
Office at the cabins to call his family or try and page him and find out where he is and is he okay?
And finally on Sunday, I got a hold of someone.
In the meantime, I've got two little boys asking me, where's daddy?
Where's daddy?
And I finally got a hold of his mother who told me that he had left me and that this new woman from California whom he'd met online was on her way to Michigan to be with him.
And that was the end of our marriage.
He didn't tell you?
No, he didn't tell me.
How long had you been married?
We had been married, the boys were five and three.
We'd have been married about seven years.
How did your mother-in-law convey it?
Was she regretful?
Was she cold?
No, she was very regretful because she's always been a wonderful grandmother to my boys, and I don't think she could believe that it was happening either.
Did he end up marrying her?
Yes, he did.
They've been married now for over 20 years.
Wow.
And you never remarried?
I did.
Yes, I did.
Oh, good.
All right, y'all.
So the question I have to ask her is, what did you not see coming?
Trending now on the Eric Metaxas show.
For folks like you and me, this was a moment ago, especially for you.
You lived through this.
You were an adult.
This was your friend.
This was a student.
And the parallels with what are happening in this country today are so striking.
I mean, we could have talked about this book just because it's the 50th anniversary and it's a good book and it's interesting and, you know, you and I have met.
The parallels to what is happening right now in this country are just crazy similar.
And so I do want to talk about that.
Now, look, there's a lot of young people listening to this program who don't have a clue what was going on around that time.
So frame it for us.
In this novel, Hippies, which is based on real-life events, obviously, you just told us two of your friends were killed.
Students were killed.
I mean, I still can't get my head around this.
All right.
Go ahead.
No, it's an agreement for people who don't know anything about Kent State or whatever.
Right.
Well, back then, in 1969, 1970, it was all about the Vietnam War.
And the attitude of the country was changing.
Like our bus baby boomers, when we were going off, we're graduating, like when I was graduating from high school in 67, you were expected to go to Vietnam and defend the country, like our parents did, the World War II generation.
And we were all for it.
But then people started realizing this war was not a good war.
There was no sense to it.
That kids were getting killed at the same rate as World War II, and nothing was happening.
I mean, Vietnam was no threat to the United States like the Germans with their A-bombs and their arms.
Vietnam didn't even have a Navy or an Air Force or anything, you know?
And my friends were coming back.
They went to Vietnam, and they came back and were telling horror stories.
And so the whole mood of the country was changing.
So the students started protesting.

I want to share with you Rainer Jackson's comments because this came from the White House where the president is sort of In his way, on a listening tour.
You know, I know that the rap against Donald Trump is that he doesn't listen to anybody.
And that, of course, is a lot of hogwash.
He does listen.
He ultimately makes decisions based on his gut, on his instincts, on what got him to the White House in the first place.
But quite frankly, anybody who's been around him recognizes He does spend a lot of time listening to advisors, listening to people who are willing to bend his ear.
So here's Rainer Jackson.
Well, what I'd like to say to you, Mr. President, is kind of off the beaten path.
I'd like to say to all the media assembled here that I wish they would quit lying about what you've done specifically for the black community.
So you got radical liberal journalists like Joy Reid from MSNBC, Don Lemon from CNN, Roland Martin, who are putting more poison into the black community than any drug dealer who are killing more black folks than any white person with a seat over their face.
How are they doing it?
Spreading these lies about the economy you had, Mr. President, before the virus was a continuation of Obama.
That's just factually not true.
I have a degree in the county.
I keep up with the economy.
They're lying.
So to all these folks on MSNBC, CNN, Roland Martin, are you afraid to have real black Republicans who know what the hell they're talking about?
Yes, everybody, Dennis Prager Dennis Prager here.
Wednesday, second hour is the male-female hour.
Were you or are you in a marriage where one thinks things are fine and the other thinks things are awful?
And how does that happen?
And...
I just want to go back to Jan for a moment.
I gotta believe, I mean, it's one of the more dramatic stories, Jan.
You went with your husband for a romantic weekend at a bungalow, and he never showed up, and your mother-in-law tells you he left you for another woman.
Yes, someone that he's been chatting with online.
Right.
And ended up marrying, as it happens.
So in retrospect, with all of this time that has passed, do you believe that you missed some cues?
Thank you.
Yes.
Oh, yes, definitely.
I missed the fact that we had two different ideas of what we wanted our life to be.
As his mother told me, he would have been satisfied living with the boys and I in a cardboard box as long as he had a television and a remote control.
And I was more motivated to making sure we had new windows in the house and the cars were, you know, good.
And I guess I was more materialistic.
I mean, I don't think that I was materialistic, but I guess I hadn't.
Well, if you want more than a cardboard box and a television, I wouldn't call you materialistic.
No, that's him.
He would have been happier.
I know.
I say if you want more than that, that doesn't make you materialistic.
No, I guess not.
We came from two completely separate backgrounds.
I was privileged, I guess, as a child and growing up, and he wasn't.
We had different visions of life, and I was busy taking care of the kids, and I was working as well, and I made more money than he did, and maybe that had something to do with it.
You know, I was willing to spend money on things.
Right.
No, all right.
I got the point.
Listen, I thank you.
It's a great call.
Not a great story, but a great call.
Jay in Los Angeles.
Hello.
Hey, Dennis.
Hi.
So, I have this issue.
I feel terrible about it, but my wife wanted to get a breast reduction.
And I was for it.
I was like, okay, let's do it.
And after she got it, I just didn't have the same attraction to her.
And I never told her.
Tried to work with it, and it just wasn't there.
And, you know, I felt like this is one of those things where you can't tell a woman, you know, hey, you've gained weight.
I'm not attracted to you.
But I had to tell her.
And her heart was broken, you know, but I felt like I had to tell her.
Why did she get her breasts, were her breasts particularly large?
Yeah, they were large, and she had them all her life.
Did she discuss it with you?
She did.
She actually did.
And she actually, you know, she's like, well...
Beforehand.
She discussed it with you beforehand.
Yeah.
And what did you say to her?
I mean, I was for it because, you know, the way it was told to me is like, hey, my back is going to be better.
I'm going to be, you know, I'm going to feel better about myself because she says that, you know, she didn't like people looking at her.
I was one of those people who was always looking at her, but yeah.
So you were for it on health grounds?
Yeah, I was for it.
Even in the midst of turmoil, your mind of the reduction did not match the amount of reduction, I assume?
No, like she went drastic.
Drastic.
So I'm just curious, if things were...
Largely good between you.
What does prevent...
I mean, it's not easy.
Anything to do with a woman's looks for most men is like the famous Geico commercial with Honest Abe looking at his wife.
It's almost impossible for most men.
But nevertheless, this is dramatic, and it could be not reversed, but undone.
She doesn't have to go back to the size she was, If she heard this call, would she be shocked?
Yeah, I'm still talking about it because I did just bring it up recently after a year.
I just brought it up and I kind of said, hey, you know, I'll pay for one breast, you pay for the other.
Let's make it right again.
And she, you know, I told her, hey, Millions of women are trying to enlarge your breath.
Hey, you know, I'm willing to fund it.
Let's do it.
And?
Like I said, she's very, very upset.
Upset about why?
Oh, boy, look at that.
I got rid of him by accident.
I've never done that.
I didn't even know that that button existed.
Too bad.
It's like in the middle of a movie or near the end and you don't know what happened.
I think, though, we should raise that as an issue.
A living martyr.
I do.
Why would she be upset?
See, I'm not following that.
He loves her.
He wants to resume his being attracted to her.
That's so important.
If she loves him, maybe that's an important subject.
Obviously, I raise the issue of sex and marriage periodically.
Not as often as people think, interestingly.
I haven't done it in months, certainly.
But I will do that.
I don't know why it would upset her.
Do you know why?
She had major surgery and, okay, but it's not like it's permanent.
Yes, you go back again, so, huh?
No, no, she's not.
This is not her natural breast.
It's a reduced, her natural...
Yeah, you want to talk?
Put him on.
I'm very curious what your read is, because you're very sensitive to women.
That was tongue-in-cheek.
I think he is, though.
Go on.
yeah well neat this is not her natural breast either No.
Those are gone.
There's just no way to go back to the way it was.
There's a midway.
I think he's be happy with midway.
Who knows whether he's not happy now.
How do I know he's happy now?
Because he...

That's his biggest fear, is that Donald Trump will steal the election.
So here we go again with, it was Russia, right?
Russia interfered with the election in 2016. Russia got Trump elected, according to the narrative that resulted in an investigation, which led to a complete Rebuke of that dubious claim.

Hi.
Hey, first time I've ever called your show, but I love listening to your show.
Thank you.
I'm delighted.
Yeah, I'm in a marriage that we've had a long-term marriage.
We have a large family, and we have some significant issues that have made it difficult.
And she's pretty happy the way things are.
I mean, I know it hasn't always been perfect for her, too, but she's...
She likes the situation we have and have been in, and for me, it's been very difficult at times.
There are some times I just hit my head against the wall because I don't know what, you know, what direction to go on our challenges.
And I'm kind of hurting myself, too, because so much of kind of where we've come into has been things I've kind of allowed to happen.
And grow to where they were.
And then I got to a point in our life and I thought, you know, I was going to like it this way and I wanted to make some changes.
But there are things that I allowed to get to where they were.
So, you know, we're just pushing through it.
So, let me understand.
Which one of you thinks things are okay?
Yeah, she thinks things are okay.
Right.
And I don't.
Have one thing change, what would it be?
You know, one of the things, the major challenges there has been, and I suppose it's going to be that way, she and I come from different cultures.
You know, she's from the Hispanic culture, and her parents live with us and have for a long time.
And the challenges there are really, Difficult sometimes because her priorities is oftentimes what her parents needs are and they depend on her quite heavily.
So you would prefer that she focus more on you and the marriage?
Yes, and if we had, you know, more distance, you know, they live in a...
More distance from the in-laws?
Yeah, from the in-laws.
They're great people.
They're wonderful people.
No, I understand.
What if you had a bigger house?
So we did.
We bought a bigger house with an in-law suite, and so they have their own place.
Has that helped?
Which is next door.
And that helps a little, but it's challenging because of...
You ever go away with your wife, just you and your wife?
You know, we do sometimes, but we don't do it as much as we should.
Yeah, you really need to do that more.
I mean, that's not the subject of this hour, but...
He sounds like a good guy, right?
He passed the good guy test.
So, I would...
You know, I often wonder...
Not always, but often.
If I sat down for a few hours, on a few different occasions, with this couple, could I help them?
You know, people often say to me, what would you do if you didn't have a radio show?
Well, obviously I do many other things, like write and lecture.
But putting those aside, I would be a therapist.
I would be a marital therapist.
And the problem is, you can't call yourself a therapist without a degree.
So what would you call yourself, a marriage consultant?
Coach?
Coach, oh God, forget it.
I would rather be called ruiner.
Dennis Prager.
Let's see, Mr. Prager.
He's a marriage ruiner.
Coach.
Oh, God.
I don't know why that doesn't strike me.
A serious marriage coach.
Ladies and gentlemen, a great product is called Relief Factor.
I mean great.
If you read...
It's an interesting question.
I'd like to ask somebody who went to their website, relieffactor.com, read the testimonials.
What would you then think?
They were made up?
If you believe they were real, and I know they were real because I know the father and son who run Relief Factor, who own it.
And they're religious, honest people.
So you would have to think, whoa!
I should try it.
So for three weeks, try it.
It doesn't work in three weeks.
You've thrown out $19.95.
Go for the three-week quick trial, relieffactor.com, 800-500-8384.

A call is going out now for the dismantling of the Minneapolis Police Department.
The president of the city council said this when asked about what to do in the case of a break-in.
Yes, I mean, I hear that loud and clear from a lot of my neighbors.
And I know, and myself too, and I know that that comes from a place of privilege because for those of us for whom the system is working, I think we need to step back and imagine what it would feel like to already live in that reality where calling the police may mean more harm is done.
There's no doubt that our cities and communities need restoration, including greater peaceful engagement between police and citizens.

And the advantage that Trump has is that he's got more resources and he's got a bigger, better digital infrastructure, which will matter a lot.
I mean, Florida is a $50 to $70 million proposition, and North Carolina is a $35 to $50 million proposition.
So those, you know, you start, and we haven't talked about Ohio.
Isn't that interesting how little we talk about Ohio this election?

And are you in a marriage or were you in a marriage where one thought things were fine and one thought things were awful?
you That's the question here.
You know, the human condition is very complex.
I know you know that, but it's still worth noting.
So it's a very interesting question in life.
Like so much else, there's such a balancing act.
On the one hand, If you have too many expectations, you'll always be disappointed.
On the other hand, if you have no expectations, well, I have no expectations.
It's part of my philosophy of life.
But if you have no, forget expectations, demands.
I mean, if everything is acceptable, then that's not good either.
There has to be a level of satisfaction that still needs to be met.
But this is more a happiness hour subject, but a daily happiness is much greater than a periodic but a daily happiness is much greater than a periodic fireworks.
Thanks.
Thank you.
For the vast majority of people, anyway.
All right.
Let's go to Stephanie in Phoenix.
The famous Stephanie of Phoenix, I might add.
Hi.
Hi there.
I was the one you asked that question to last week, so I thought I'd call back in.
Amazing you got back in.
I know!
I'll tell you.
All right.
I know.
Yes.
Just to elaborate, so I was the one who initiated the divorce and my ex was surprised.
And after many conversations after that, it was clear that although we had many conversations leading up to that over the years about The difficulties that we were having, he never thought that any of it was anything that would lead to divorce.
And so that's why he was surprised.
Yeah, apparently so.
But he knew that there was an imbalance of satisfaction.
Right, yeah.
After the fact, he said, oh yes, I totally understand why You know, you said this, you said that, we talked about this, we talked about that, and I'm so sorry, and, you know, let's work it out.
But the problem was is that it was 16 years of having those conversations, and it seemed like I had to get to the point where I was willing to get a divorce.
So did you get a divorce?
Yes.
I see.
Are you happy you did?
I went through it.
Yes.
Are you remarried?
No.
Are you dating?
I just started dating.
Yes.
Well, thank you for the update.
I think it's worth noting to you that my view is that it is not remarkable how many marriages don't work out.
It is remarkable how many do.
It's an important thing to look at it that way.
The human being is so complex, and to live with another for decades, that could be a challenge.
All righty.
Let's go to more, obviously.
Thank you, Stephanie.
And Barbara in Cleveland.
Hello, Barbara.
Hey.
When we got married, our first year was wonderful.
And our second year, my husband started residency.
And my husband had the view that marriage was going to be difficult.
And I was pathetically naive and just thinking that marriage would be...
Easy and wonderful and fun.
And it was really challenging.
And I think because my husband had the expectation that it was going to be difficult, he was a much happier camper because of it.
What an intelligent call.
Well, you have vindicated my view of expectations better than I could vindicate it.
Yes, because if you don't have expectations, you're constantly pleasantly surprised.
Exactly.
Exactly.
But I have a few other topics that I would be interested if you could touch on in future programs.
Yeah, and they are?
One is miscogenization, where the couples are from different cultures.
Right.
My husband from South Africa is Jewish like I am, but it's a different culture.
And that's been something to navigate as well.
And then also how people enjoy vacations together, or do they, or what are the challenges with that?
Yes, they're good.
I have done, interestingly, I have done different political views, but I have not done different cultures.
It would be a very interesting question.
So she's...
An American Jew, she married to a South African Jew.
So here's an interesting question.
Would it be easier if he had been married to a South African non-Jew and she had been married to an American non-Jew?
In other words, which culture trumps in importance?
The ethnic or the national?
I don't know the answer, but it would be a very interesting question to pose to the two of them.
We'll be back in a moment.

Good morning.
Hi.
How are you?
I'm well.
Good.
I was...
We had the perfect marriage until it wasn't.
We were together 29 years, and in a matter of six months to a year, it dissolved.
To your shock.
I think that...
Pardon?
To your shock.
To my shock.
I think once you said, or you told me, that in marriages people fall, sort of fall in and out of love in a wave, you know.
One is madly in the love, and the other kind of wanes, and vice versa.
And as long as they are, one of you is in love, there's hope for the marriage.
When you both fall out, there's no hope.
And I think that afterwards, I recognized that.
I think I was probably in denial.
And it wasn't...
At the time, I was thinking that...
And I have no idea if he was having...
I know he was having a relationship with somebody else that we went out camping with.
Another couple.
And it all dissolved over karaoke.
You didn't like the way he sang?
Yeah, he didn't like the way I sang, definitely.
But the other couple, the woman, loved it, and my husband loved it.
He decided that they had the best voices in the world.
So we would go out to bars.
Of course, there's drinking.
And after a period of time, I just said, I don't like this.
Okay, so instead of us finding another thing to do, he said, I'm still going out.
You're not going to stop me.
So he would go out with the other woman and go to bars.
Well, that's a bad sign.
Kevin, Richard, Carol, Mike, Mitch, Mitch.

You lived through this.
You were an adult.
This was your friend.
This was a student.
And the parallels with what are happening in this country today are so striking.
I mean, we could have talked about this book just because it's the 50th anniversary and it's a good book and it's interesting and, you know, you and I have met.
But, I mean, the parallels to what is happening right now in this country are just crazy similar.
And so I do want to talk about that.
Now, look, there's a lot of young people listening to this program who don't have a clue what was going on around that time.
So frame it for us.
In this novel, Hippies, which is based on...
Real-life events, obviously, you just told us two of your friends were killed.
Students were killed.
I mean, I still can't get my head around this.
All right, it was...
No, that's a frame for people who don't know anything about Kent State or whatever.
Right, well, back then, in 1969, 1970, it was all about the Vietnam War, and the attitude of the country was changing.
Like our best baby boomers, when we were graduating from high school in 1967, you were expected to go to Vietnam and defend the country, like our parents did, the World War II generation, and we were all for it.
But then people started realizing this war was not a good war.
There was no sense to it.
That kids were getting killed at the same rate as World War II, and nothing was happening.
I mean, Vietnam was no threat to the United States like the Germans with their A-bombs and their Vietnam didn't even have a Navy or an Air Force or anything, you know.
And my friends were coming back.
They went to Vietnam, and they came back and were telling horror stories.
And so the whole mood of the country was changing.
So the students started protesting.

Music I want to share with you Rainer Jackson's comments because this came from the White House where the president is sort of in his way on a listening tour.
You know, I know that the rap against Donald Trump is that he doesn't listen to anybody.
And that, of course, is a lot of hogwash.
He does listen.
He ultimately...
He makes decisions based on his gut, on his instincts, on what got him to the White House in the first place.
So you got radical liberal journalists like Joy Reid from MSNBC, Don Lemon from CNN, Roland Martin.
Who are putting more poison into the black community than any drug dealer who are killing more black folks than any white person with a seat over their face?
How are they doing it?
Spreading these lies about the economy you have, Mr. President, before the virus was a continuation.
Of Obama.
That's just factually not true.
I have a degree in the county.
I keep up with the economy.
They're lying.
So, to all these folks on MSNBC, CNN, Roland Martin, were you afraid to have real black Republicans who know what the hell they're talking about?

And I think, Mr. President, your record will win the debate.

Somebody sent me a video of two black guys who were big fans of America.
And they showed video after video of quite awful conduct by police against whites.
I remembered one of them where the guy was begging for his life and it's not quite clear to anybody why he got killed.
And they made the point, which is irrefutable.
Had this been a black person, everybody would have known his name.
And it would have been a major cause celeb in the United States.
There is actually more of that against whites than against blacks, according to all the data that we have.
The police are overwhelmingly not biased against blacks.
And certainly not in any use of lethal force.
But the entire movement is not based on fact.
It is based on emotion.
And as far as the left is concerned, it is based on a desire for chaos and ultimately the end of the United States as we know it.
If you're still in doubt, there's nothing I can say.
I have said all of my life, the left ruins everything it touches.
And, I mean, I played for you.
Remember, I didn't play for you, actually.
I recited it.
I read it.
Philadelphia Orchestra, one of the premier orchestras of the world, had a concert, and they featured a young black boy in some role in a piece.
Written for the Philadelphia Orchestra in which he shouts out the F word and is angry at whites.
And that was the piece featured by the Philadelphia Orchestra.
And people pay money to be cursed at.
And they're supposed to applaud at the end, which they probably did.
And anyway, what the left has done to music and art, and I've talked to you about the NFL, I don't claim to be a big football fan, so it's easier for me to say, obviously much easier than for a big football fan.
Actually, my heart goes out to those of you who are big football fans.
I don't know how you can...
Root for your team now.
Or enjoy the sport, knowing that half the players think you're a racist.
I have no doubt that I'm not a racist, so therefore I find the charge despicable.
And secondly, I have too much dignity.
To be called scum and then cheer the people who call me scum.
I don't know why other people, unless you think you are a racist, then I don't know why you would watch an NFL game at this time in American history.
We keep getting these reports.
This is constant.
You know, you're misunderstanding the taking the knee at the national anthem.
This is...
We are told...
I have to make a list of this.
The amount of Orwellian stuff we're told.
We're told colorblind is racist.
That's Orwellian.
Get it?
That means...
That's like saying a circle is a square.
Now we're told...
You're out of your mind if you think.
You're insensitive.
You're unaware.
You're not woke.
If you think taking a knee during the National Anthem disrespects the National Anthem, that's not what they mean.
They mean to bring attention to police brutality and the systemic racism in America.
There isn't systemic racism in America, and police brutality is...
evenly distributed to the extent that it exists and it does exist, but it is a minority.
And we are told that's the intention .
So why choose the national anthem?
If everybody is asked to stand for something, And some people don't stand.
Then they are in fact dishonoring what is being stood for.
What if white journalists had taken a knee when Barack Obama came to do a news conference?
What would you say?
What if they said, no, no, no, we're only taking a knee because we're protesting abortion.
I mean, the number of journalists who protest abortion is zero in the mainstream media, but I'm just giving you a hypothetical.
Let's say conservatives at a press conference of the former president.
Or any Democrat.
This has nothing to do with Barack Obama's race.
But Barack Obama, the Democrat.
People take a knee when he comes in to protest something, abortion or whatever.
They're not showing disrespect to the President by not standing.
Everybody stands when the President walks in.
Why are we allowing ourselves to be lied to?
Colorblind is racist.
You understand what I'm supposed to believe?
The spectacular lies?
The bigger the lie, the more believable it becomes.
America is racist.
When I see the unbelievably successful blacks who lead the charge of how bad it is for blacks, I feel that I have entered another universe.
The love that white fans show for black stars, whether in the theater or in sports, I mean, it's love, my friends.
It's love.
I'll never forget when my older son was, I don't know, 10. I asked him what he wanted to be when he grew up.
He said black.
That's how much he idolized black athletes and some black actors.
By the way, I didn't correct him.
I mean, did I correct him?
I certainly didn't care that he did.
It'd be fine with me.
And I figured eventually he'd realize that that'd be difficult.
Although in the time in which we live, I don't know why race is fixed and sex is not.

So, our group, Project 21, was actually formed in the wake of the Rodney King riots.

Hi everybody, Dennis Prager here.
And...
I'm going to take your call, especially if you're calling from Minneapolis.
I'm dying to know what you're thinking with regard especially to the disbanding, or at least the proposed disbanding, of your force.
I just want to bring your attention to a spectacular website that has been put up by the people of the Job Creators Network.
It's, uh, they're not asking you for money.
They are, uh, hmm?
Yes, flatten the fear.
You need to know the scientific facts, not the propaganda, not the scare tactics about this coronavirus.
So this is the place to go.
The fear of the virus, they say, God bless them, has itself become a big problem.
That's why I want you to go to flattenthefear.com.
Because data matters.
The fact is a large portion of the population can and should get back to living lives without fear.
Get the facts.
Share them with your neighbors.
Go to flattenthefear.com.
These people are doing great work.
They're not asking for any money from you.
They are asking you to visit it.
All right, let's go to some calls in Minneapolis.
Ron in Minneapolis.
Hello.
Hey, Dennis.
Good day to you.
Thank you.
Good news first.
My favorite bowling alley just opened up for the first time since March last week and had a good time.
The bad news...
Let me just say this.
When that's the good news, things are in trouble.
Well, I did shoot a 186. No, no, no.
I love bowling.
That's not the reason I said that.
I mean, we're in a bad time when my bowling alley opened is the good news.
Okay, just want to make that clear.
186 is pretty good.
Yep, go ahead.
Yep.
Okie dokie.
Things are bleak here in Minneapolis.
Seven police officers just quit last week because of the morale.
I'm a long-distance cyclist.
I went through, on the way back home here in Minneapolis, through the war zone.
It's so sad.
So, so sad what I saw.
What's the war zone?
East Lake Street down to West Lake Street.
And what makes it a war zone?
All the buildings are bombed, basically.
It looked like bombs hit them.
No kidding.
I would like to see pictures of that.
That's fascinating.
Is that downtown?
What is it?
No, it's about 2.3 miles south of downtown Minneapolis.
Downtown Minneapolis got hit a little bit, but not as bad.
And I called the war zone.
What I saw, East Lake Street down to West Lake Street.
And it came to one quarter mile of my office and home.
Let me ask you a question.
I've been there about 20 times, but I can't claim to know Minneapolis city politics.
A unanimous city council means, of course, every member of the city council voted to disband the police.
Now, even in L.A., there is a conservative member of the city council.
How is it unanimous there?
I don't know the city council who's on board there.
From what I've heard and what I'm sensing, most of our left-wing idiots are not utilizing common sense.
They just want to stand out thinking they're doing the right thing.
Now, is it going to happen?
I highly doubt it.
I highly, highly doubt that it will ever happen.
But I could be wrong.
So you spoke of the morale of the Minneapolis police.
What is the morale of the Minneapolis citizen?
For a lot of us, we're pretty bleak too, but we're staying positive.
We still have a relatively good city.
The police are trying to do their job the best they can, even though these low-life citizens are throwing things at them in the streets.
This one cop was trying to save this guy who fell from a heart attack or a stroke.
And this cop was trying to save him and they're throwing objects at him.
Right out in the open.
But I talked to the Minneapolis police officer yesterday.
I came back from one of my bike rides.
I saw him parked downtown.
I just stopped and said hi.
And I asked him, what is the morale after your seven of your officers quit?
He says, it's not good, but...
We're holding hope.
We're doing our jobs the best we can.
We like our citizens.
We want to take care of ourselves.
All right.
Well, thank you for that.
Let's go to John in Minneapolis.
Hello, John.
Hey, Dennis.
How are you today?
Okay, thank you.
Well, you know, I work in Minneapolis a lot and live on the outskirts.
And basically, nobody is in agreement with that that I know.
I think the reason that, you know, Minneapolis, Minnesotans want to be nice.
And they think that liberals are nice.
And so I think they fall into this leftist thought processes and they ended up coming out with, you know, a Democratic governor and very far-left mayors.
And it's...
Definitely revealing at this point to at least the majority of people around that area.
But that's really one of our biggest problems.
But I am, you know, in more conservative areas.
What area are you in?
I know the area.
What city?
Delano.
It's about 45 minutes from the cities.
I didn't hear the name.
Say the name again.
Delano.
Yeah, no, I don't know that one.
Okay.
Do you think, and there's no way to know, but I'm, and you live in a conservative area, so you'll have a skewed vision, obviously, but there's a part of me, because I think I know Minnesota somewhat well, and I know the Minnesota nice syndrome, and it makes people foolish.
Nice does not mean wise.
They have nothing to do with each other.
And I'm just wondering, though, is there any, You wouldn't get it, I guess, from the Star Tribune, but is there any sense at all that people are saying we've gone too far?
You know, in the areas that really dominate Minneapolis, like Prospect Park, Riverside, where Omar is, It's just right there by the U of M. So U of M is just a liberal training ground.
No, it's a leftist training ground.
I actually attended there.
I wish it was a liberal training ground.
All right.
You know what?
I now will see in November.
But I do wonder, is there anything the left could do that would alienate its base?
The nice base, like Minnesota nice.
Is there anything the left could do that would alienate liberals?
We'll be back.

The five-minute campaign strategy as of today.
Would it be spend all your time, resources, energy, and policy on PA in Wisconsin?
Well, it's not going to be that simple because the Democrats are going to be attempting to You know, go after Arizona.
They've signaled that.
If they win Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Arizona, he's Biden's president of the United States.
And the advantage that Trump has is that he's got more resources and he's got a bigger, better digital infrastructure, which will matter a lot.

Talking about Minneapolis, so I looked up here.
The Minneapolis Star Tribune had a list last week.
Of damaged and destroyed businesses just in Minneapolis, St. Paul.
It wasn't last week.
It was four days ago.
So I did a...
It's got the list.
It would take me the show to read you the list of businesses damaged or destroyed.
71...
I did a word search on the word destroyed.
71 businesses destroyed.
Alright?
And 400 something...
Damaged.
And then there's looted.
Let me give you some examples.
I'm just going to look.
I'm going to list all 71, but in alphabetical order, the destroyed.
Seven Mile Fashion destroyed.
Seven Sigma Incorporated destroyed.
Arby's destroyed on Snelling.
I know Snelling Avenue.
Atlas Staffing.
Lake Street, destroyed.
Auto Zone Auto Parts, destroyed.
Bling Bling Beauty Supply, destroyed.
CFSC New Money Express, destroyed.
Cricket Wireless, destroyed.
Domino's Pizza on 26th Avenue, destroyed.
Express Payday Loans, Fade Factory.
Family Dollar.
Two Family Dollar.
Wow, Family Dollar.
Wow.
Like five were damaged and two were destroyed.
Flora's Hair Designs.
What does Flora's, what does the owner of Flora's Hair Designs on Broadway do now?
Think they're fully insured?
Maybe?
Why isn't there a worry in America about the amount of destruction, rioting, and looting?
Why is that?
I know why.
Because the media didn't focus on it.
If this had been done by right-wing groups, the cries of fascism in this country would be deafening.
The media stink.
You understand?
They're a dishonest, lying, mendacious, fraudulent cesspool.
I have no joy in saying this.
My love of reading newspapers is from my childhood.
They have besmirched.
They have sullied.
They have defecated on the word journalist.
Flora's Hair Design Gandhi Mahal Restaurant.
Yeah, you know, those Indians.
Gotta burn them down.
GM Tobacco.
Go Puff.
H&R Block.
Hexagon Bar.
Holiday.
There are a lot of branches of Holiday.
Three of them were destroyed.
Levels, Minneapolis.
Max at Pawn, Max at Pawn.
Metro by T-Mobile.
Midnight Cycle and Speed.
Midtown Eye Care.
Midtown Safety Center.
Okay, you got the gist.
71. This is the Minneapolis Star Tribune list.
That's just the destroyed, as I told you.
not not the looted and the and the damaged George Floyd was the ostensible reason
The bigger reason is there is a body of Americans that is aimless, angry, bitter, destructive, And self-pitying.
Who believe that normal moral laws do not affect them.
That's the key.
Normal moral law does not apply to them.

Bye.
Thank you.
On my board is Michael in Minneapolis, Robert in Minneapolis, Alex in Minneapolis, Kendall in Minneapolis, John in Minneapolis, and Wayne in Minneapolis.
We also have Josh in Philadelphia.
Josh grew up in Minneapolis.
It is interesting that they're all men.
Well, Kendall could be, yeah.
That's true.
Alex could be.
Anyway, Robert could be, for all we know.
You know, you can't make these assumptions anymore.
The moral compass of the left has always been broken since Lenin.
From Lenin to BLM. And the New York Times and the universities, the moral compass is broken.
I mean, not just broken.
See, broken, it would be 50% of the time would be right.
But North is always South.
South is always North.
And East is always West and vice versa.
All the anger is directed at the Minneapolis police for what is a very rare event.
What you saw in the video is a very rare event, given the number of Americans, the number of interactions between police and people that they have to subdue.
I'm not defending it.
It's obviously wrong.
I'm just saying it's very rare.
That's a statistic.
That's a fact.
It's not an opinion.
And there's no anger at the people who wish to destroy this country and destroyed all these businesses, as I just began to read to you in Minneapolis.
A country which is filled with cowards, and that unfortunately was not the case historically.
Land of the free and home of the brave was the American self-image, and Americans under the tutelage of the left care much less about freedom and bravery.
Cannot survive.
What happened to that student?
The number of times I want to take a call, there was a student in Minneapolis.
I'm curious how young people are thinking about this.
But he had to go.
All right, Robert in Minneapolis.
Hello.
Thank you for calling.
Hi, Dennis.
Thank you very much.
It's a privilege to speak with you.
Thank you.
After the first weekend of riots and looting and burning down on East Lake Street, my daughter, who lives in the Loring Park area, organized a small group of family members, six or seven of us, and myself and my wife, my daughter, her husband, our son-in-law, in other words, went down with rakes and shovels and little carts.
And we went down to Lake Street near Hiawatha, which was kind of the central zone, the war zone, as one of your previous callers called it, named it.
And in fact, it was just like that.
There were still buildings burning.
The Arby's was completely gutted, fallen in upon itself.
The entire structure had collapsed.
And there were hundreds and hundreds of people down there to help clean up.
What's interesting is that whole area there by Hiawatha and Lake, or Highway 55 and Lake, East Lake, had just been redone.
You could tell that the curbing was new, the first layer of asphalt was in, Cub Foods had gone in there for grocery, and this is a...
You know, they call it Midtown.
It's an area in Minneapolis that's, you know, on the less affluent side of the scale.
But Cub Foods, Target, and the whole, that whole shopping center, Wendy's, the Arby's.
And the Target was not destroyed, but it was shut down.
The Cub was shut down.
Windows were broken.
Alright, I got you.
You've seen something that no American should see.
Again, all I ask you, my dear listeners, is to imagine that right-wing people had done this damage in not just Minneapolis, but around the country.
How we would be talking about a fascist, even Nazi-like coup They would compare it to Kristallnacht in Germany, 39. And that's what you would be hearing constantly.
Instead, we only hear of police brutality.
I guess non-police brutality is a non-issue.
There's a video.
When did this video come out?
It's from New York that we were just talking about.
Do you know?
The New York Post put it out.
New York Post.
Brute ruthlessly knocks down 92-year-old woman in random New York City attack.
The young black kid.
Yeah, there are a lot of videos of this.
Black people.
Young black people.
Punching white.
And he knocked down the 92-year-old woman.
Just kept walking.
And do you know why he did it?
I'll tell you.
He didn't hold her up, right?
There was no robbery there.
I'll tell you why.
Because the left has said to black America, you are victims, and therefore normal moral rules do not apply to you.
This is the left message.
Not the black message.
It's the left's message.
That is how evil the left is.
It has announced that a significant number of Americans are not to be held to the same moral standards.
It happens over and over, and it doesn't mean a damn thing to liberals. .
That's what I get sad about.
And I think that that dishonors the man who died.
It also dishonors Dr. Martin Luther King, who was an advocate for nonviolent protests and was able to bring about the greatest civic changes ever in this country.
And the black community really needs to start talking about that issue because, you know, how many...
Young black men are killed every weekend in Chicago.
But because it's black on black crime, we don't care about that. - Keep up with what's trending.

America has been doing some soul searching lately.
Perhaps you noticed.
We're examining what's right with America and what can be made better.
No other country does this kind of introspection Some of what we've found we don't like and will change.
Every life has the right to be treated with dignity and respect.
That includes our law enforcement as well as every skin color.
We've been through this before in America.
We always came out stronger.
We will this time too.
Our hosts will make sure of that.

So we need to invite in our whole community.
The nine members of the City Council that came from every corner of our city to stand together to make this commitment, we don't have all the answers.
And what we committed to was a community process to help reimagine public safety.
Let's stop for a second.
This is just babble.
This is just incoherent babble.
Hello, everybody.
Dennis Prager here.
Josh in Philadelphia has a very important insight.
Be brief, Josh.
Even though you're the one non-Minneapolis call, I think you have an important thing to say.
Go ahead.
Hi, Dennis.
Hi.
Good talk to you.
Good.
I grew up during the Cultural Revolution in China in the late 60s.
And what I'm seeing happening in the U.S. all over the place is very similar to what was happening in China.
The difference is that it's a scale.
Back then in China, similar things were happening everywhere.
We're talking about everywhere, even in every family.
And they're knocking down culture and historical symbols, shutting down any different voices.
The most disturbing thing I read, really just brought back this nightmare, was a couple days ago I saw this report saying somewhere a young lady reported her parents' private conversation Online or somewhere and then said that her parents were racist.
That's right.
Do me a favor.
I want to get a copy of that.
It's a very important report.
He is right.
Please understand, folks.
The left is the left and it's the same everywhere.
There is no difference.
There's only opportunity.
That's the difference between the Maoists And the leftists in America, the violent ones in particular, is opportunity.
If they could, they would open up re-education camps, just like Mao did.
And the severing of parental authority, well, that's a big one.
I'll write about that.
When I describe what can arguably be the most important of the Ten Commandments, I've never believed this until recently.
Honor your father and mother.
Because all dictatorships begin with severing the authority of parents.
Severing the authority of police is a big deal too.
This is all part of it.
God's authority was removed.
Parental authority was removed.
Now police authority is removed.
The only authority will be the left-wing state.
Get it?
That's their vision.
Father's Day is Sunday.
