Dennis Prager Show - Have You Lost Friends Over Politics? ⎜The Dennis Prager Radio Show Aired: 2020-06-06 Duration: 04:10 === Human Nature's Pathetic Reality (02:42) === [00:00:00] I admit it, my friends. [00:00:01] I admit it. [00:00:02] If I am not real with you about the problem of happiness, remember, my book on happiness is happiness is a serious problem. [00:00:11] So I have always understood that it's a serious problem, and I've always told you, if nothing's horrific, life is terrific. [00:00:21] You know, don't take the joy of American life for granted. [00:00:27] It's not normal. [00:00:30] The human condition is pathetic. [00:00:33] Human nature is unimpressive. [00:00:37] There are many impressive individuals, but human nature is not impressive. [00:00:44] So I am as prepared for things like this as anybody is because I have understood what an aberration America and its freedom and its affluence. [00:01:00] Have been. [00:01:03] So to see people within the society destroy it, want to destroy it, they call it fundamentally transform. [00:01:14] It's the same thing. [00:01:16] When you fundamentally transform something, you have destroyed it. [00:01:19] You have made something new. [00:01:21] Maybe you believe you'll make something better. [00:01:23] I don't. [00:01:24] I don't believe that something better, something improved, yes. [00:01:30] Improvement is always possible. [00:01:33] But to destroy what has existed. [00:01:37] This is an amazing place that we have created in this country. [00:01:43] And I am convinced that a lot of you are anxiety-aridden at this time. [00:01:53] I mean, this is more depressing in some ways than the lockdown. [00:02:00] Because the lockdown ends. [00:02:05] Now what will happen after it ends to so many people who have lost their businesses and their jobs? [00:02:10] That's another question. [00:02:12] And I have opposed that too, except for the first week or so. [00:02:18] So I want to talk to you about that and what to do to deal with it. === Fighting Back Friends (01:43) === [00:02:27] How do you deal with Watching your society be hurt, even perhaps destroyed, from within. [00:02:39] Since the Civil War, this is a first. [00:02:44] The enemies of America have overwhelmingly been outsiders. [00:02:52] People who want to destroy the country have been from outside. [00:02:59] Well, among other things what you need to do, I know what I resolve to do, my resolution is to fight back. [00:03:12] And you can too. [00:03:14] You can post things on social media sites. [00:03:19] If you lose friends as a result, then what kind of friend was that person to begin with? [00:03:28] If differing with somebody renders your friendship impossible, well, it's a very sad thing. [00:03:38] I've never lost a friend over ideology. [00:03:42] I've almost never lost a friend. [00:03:45] But it's a very sad thing if it happens. [00:03:51] And believe me, others have it worse. [00:03:53] They have it with their spouse. [00:03:56] And that's very painful to think about, to having such differences. [00:04:03] So one of the things that you just have to resolve is you have to fight for this country and for its values.
