Suicides Are Up
00:03:40
|
|
| Okay, everybody, so here's the story. | |
| I'm going to try to do some good with you today. | |
| I try to do every happiness hour some good, but this is more direct. | |
| So I read to you a statistic from a doctor in Northern California. | |
| He said he has seen more death by suicide in the last month. | |
| than he has from the coronavirus. | |
| Suicides are up. | |
| Usage of drugs is up. | |
| Usage of alcohol is up. | |
| So give me a call if you're struggling with happiness or know somebody who is. | |
| Maybe, and it's just maybe, I could say something that might be a little helpful. | |
| I'm not sure I can. | |
| Because I'm very angry on your behalf. | |
| If you lost your job, that is not caused by the coronavirus. | |
| It is caused by the lockdown. | |
| The irrational, immoral lockdown. | |
| I repeat, 1968-69, people about normally, though 100,000 Americans, That's 50 years ago, right? | |
| 50 years ago. | |
| 50 years ago, we have 330 million Americans. | |
| So what did we have? | |
| You want to take a look, what was the U.S. population in 1968? | |
| I would guess 250. So, 100,000... | |
| Anyway, I have to do the math. | |
| But I would say so would be equivalent today to 140,000 Americans. | |
| Nobody lost their jobs, their livelihood. | |
| So I'm angry on your behalf if that happened to you. | |
| But give me a call if you're struggling with happiness and why. | |
| And do you know somebody who is and why? | |
| Here's an interesting question that just occurred to me. | |
| You know we vaccinate against certain viruses, correct? | |
| 201 million? | |
| What did I guess? | |
| Wow, so it's a much higher percentage. | |
| I'll figure that out. | |
| Thank you. | |
| 200 million? | |
| So we have gone 130 more million Americans in 50 years. | |
| Wow. | |
| How do you like that? | |
| And they all listen to the show. | |
| Isn't that gratifying? | |
| Okay. | |
| So, it occurred to me, we have vaccinations against measles, chicken pox, and yellow fever, and what else? | |
| What else is there vaccinations against? | |
| Polio, obviously. | |
| Okay. | |
| Do we have vaccinations against unhappiness? | |
| Here's a test, because this has tested everybody, obviously some far, far, far more than others. | |
|
Lockdown's Impact
00:02:15
|
|
| My situation is quite easy compared to others, and I know that. | |
| But I am bummed out for my country and worried about it. | |
| So I've had to grapple. | |
| I'm not just, you know... | |
| What is it? | |
| Strolling along, singing a song. | |
| I'm not. | |
| And I share that with you. | |
| I'm angry. | |
| I'm sad for my beloved country. | |
| Not because of the virus, because of the lockdown. | |
| So I am not immune to being affected. | |
| But some people are really being affected. | |
| But I did have the question of the vaccination. | |
| Are some people... | |
| I mean, I think the answer is obvious. | |
| But I'll just pose it. | |
| Are some people better equipped for a difficult situation than others? | |
| Of course the answer is yes. | |
| It's like, who... | |
| Who dies from the coronavirus? | |
| Somebody with an underlying pre-existing condition. | |
| Who gets suicidal? | |
| And this is an open question. | |
| I'm posing it as if it's rhetorical, but it's an open question. | |
| Who is suicidal during this? | |
| Is it somebody who commits suicide or who becomes addicted? | |
| Or re-addicted. | |
| Is it a surprise to those who know this person? | |
| Wow, that's the last person I would expect to have such a reaction. | |
|
Emotional Shock Absorbers
00:02:11
|
|
| In other words, is there an underlying emotional, psychological happiness condition in people getting depressed and even suicidal now? | |
| Just as there is an underlying condition, pre-existing condition for those who die from the coronavirus or get very sick from it. | |
| So, you see, I believe in vaccinations. | |
| I'm not talking about physical, in fact, I'm talking about emotional vaccinations. | |
| What was the term that Dr. Marmer used? | |
| Shock absorbers. | |
| See, I believe that you develop shock absorbers. | |
| When things are going well, so that you have your shock absorbers when things aren't going well. | |
| That's one of the reasons I have a happiness hour, is to protect you, or enable you to protect yourself. | |
| Why is one of my mottos, if nothing's horrific, life is terrific? | |
| Because I recognize that the horrific is going to happen. | |
| It's just the nature of life. | |
| Avoids a whole lifetime of anything horrific happening. | |
| A very, very tiny percentage of humanity. | |
| Right? | |
| You know anybody who's avoided it? | |
| Mr. Martyr? | |
| I never called him that. | |
| Mr. Martyr. | |
| I like that. | |
| Living is his first name. | |
| So you don't know anybody. | |
| I'm serious. | |
| A single person in your whole extended life or extended contact that has avoided something awful. | |
| In their whole life? | |
| Yeah, in their whole life. | |
| It doesn't happen. | |
| So you have to take vaccines. | |
| You have to work on it in advance when things are good. | |
| It's like a savings account. | |
| All right. | |
