Dennis Prager Show - Ami Horowitz on Flying During the Pandemic, "It Really Was a Bizarre Experience" Aired: 2020-05-20 Duration: 06:23 === TSA Shortcut Mystery (03:47) === [00:00:00] All right, everybody. [00:00:01] Back to Ami here. [00:00:03] Anyway, the video's up. [00:00:04] But I want to hear. [00:00:05] So you go to this desolate terminal at what, JFK? JFK. Let me just tell my audience. [00:00:12] He's explaining what it's like to fly now. [00:00:14] Go ahead. [00:00:15] So then you go through. [00:00:16] Obviously, everybody knows. [00:00:18] You go to the TSA, which is always a zoo. [00:00:21] There's always a line. [00:00:22] There's nobody there. [00:00:23] You know, the TSA guy is there. [00:00:25] They check you right through. [00:00:26] The whole process between getting to the terminal and getting to my gate was literally about five, six minutes. [00:00:34] And that was only because I had most of that time was walking to the actual gate. [00:00:38] Then there's a few more people kind of wandering around. [00:00:41] But again, just completely empty. [00:00:43] When you get to the gate and there's five of us on this entire 757 to go on a direct flight to Minneapolis. [00:00:51] But the craziest part was coming back from Minneapolis. [00:00:55] You know, again, same deal. [00:00:57] Totally empty airport. [00:00:58] There's nobody there. [00:00:59] I get to the gate, and I'm walking up to the gate, and the woman goes, are you Mr. Horowitz? [00:01:04] I go, yes. [00:01:05] I'm there about 30 minutes early, because there wasn't any time for me to wait. [00:01:10] And she goes, would you like to leave now? [00:01:13] We can leave, because I was the only person on the flight. [00:01:15] I don't know how much it costs to fly a 757. From Minneapolis to New York. [00:01:21] But I imagine it's the hundreds of thousands of dollars. [00:01:23] Not to mention the amount of jet fuel that's used on this. [00:01:29] But it really was just a bizarre experience. [00:01:32] Wow. [00:01:34] You were the only one on the plane. [00:01:38] Did they treat you well? [00:01:41] No, I won't tell you who I flew, but I got it. [00:01:45] The tickets were actually also bizarrely expensive. [00:01:48] You'd think they'd be really cheap right now, but at least mine wasn't. [00:01:50] And it was probably twice what I would normally pay for that flight. [00:01:53] And so I got, you know, I didn't get an upgraded seat. [00:01:57] I didn't pay for an emergency exit seat. [00:02:01] But look, I figured I can pretty much take the pick of where I'm sitting, you know, and so I sat in an exit row, emergency exit row. [00:02:09] And the woman walks up to me, and I kid you now, she looks at me, she goes, Mr. Horowitz, you're going to have to take your seat because of weight issues. [00:02:17] And I thought, first of all, what a stupid excuse to say we don't want you sitting there. [00:02:21] And second of all, if it really was a weight problem, people flying is unsafe. [00:02:25] If my 150 pounds soaking wet is a problem, sitting off one side of the plane versus the other, it's not a safe thing to fly. [00:02:35] I'm silent because I'm stunned. [00:02:38] I'm in stunned silence. [00:02:40] You could not sit in the exit row because you're the only one on the plane, but you hadn't paid for it? [00:02:47] Correct. [00:02:48] Correct. [00:02:49] It was a little bit disconcerting not fully understanding how customer service works in the middle of a global pandemic. [00:02:55] I know we're all learning how that works, but I think that would be pretty intuitive. [00:02:59] When you have one guy flying on a flight, you treat him nicely, if not royally. [00:03:06] That is not your seat will remain etched in my mind for the rest of my life. [00:03:12] A man is the only one on the plane and told that. [00:03:16] It's not like you went even to the first class cabin. [00:03:19] No, I'm not a pig. [00:03:21] I didn't pay for that. [00:03:23] I was going to take a slightly better seat. [00:03:27] Maybe you was wrong. [00:03:29] Now that I think about it, you're sneaking into an exit row seat. === Believe All Women? (02:50) === [00:03:34] It's not the Ami Horowitz that I know. [00:03:39] Am I a rule follower? [00:03:41] Is that the perception you have of me? [00:03:43] I'm definitely not a rule follower. [00:03:44] You're definitely not a what? [00:03:46] I'm not a rule follower. [00:03:50] Shocking. [00:03:52] I'm stunned. [00:03:54] So you got a video up, you walk around Manhattan, and you're asking people if they believe women. [00:04:00] So you have to believe whenever they make a charge of harassment or assault, correct? [00:04:07] Right. [00:04:08] This has obviously been a mantra of the left since Kavanaugh, right? [00:04:12] It's become a meme, right? [00:04:14] Hashtag believe all women. [00:04:16] Not believe women or some women, or believe all women. [00:04:21] But obviously this is going to be put to the test because the person we have... [00:04:26] Who's out there, who's being accused by a woman, is a Democrat. [00:04:30] And the left is hilariously so self-unaware. [00:04:34] And I wonder if before they went into this full-throated defense of Joe Biden, remember for you guys, I'm sure everybody in your audience knows, but Joe Biden's been accused by Tara Reade for sexual assault. [00:04:47] And if the left even gives a passing thought. [00:04:51] To how hypocritical they are on this issue. [00:04:53] I mean, it's stunning how easy it is for the left in general, and the people I interviewed in specific, to fall right into this hypocrisy trap of their own making. [00:05:04] So it's a very simple premise. [00:05:06] I walk up to people, Biden supporters, which is not hard to find in Manhattan. [00:05:10] I ask them, is it important to believe all women? [00:05:13] And everyone looked at me like I had two heads. [00:05:16] Of course! [00:05:17] It's fundamental. [00:05:19] We all have to believe them. [00:05:20] And then the one moment came. [00:05:22] You know, you never script these things out when you do man the street and kind of whatever happens, happens. [00:05:26] And this woman says to me, older woman, she must be in her late 70s. [00:05:30] And she goes, I just got out of jail for 32 years after killing my abuser. [00:05:36] And nobody believed me that he was abusing me for years. [00:05:40] So I take it to my... [00:05:40] So this is a really important issue for me. [00:05:43] So I said, wow, that's pretty powerful. [00:05:46] And then in my next breath, I asked this woman, well, do you believe Tara Reade's accusations? [00:05:51] And she flipped out. [00:05:53] She's a terrible person. [00:05:55] She's employed by Trump. [00:05:56] That's right. [00:05:57] And they all went to tirades about Tara Reade and how they don't believe a word she said. [00:06:04] I mean, it's so... [00:06:05] It's so hard to understand how they can't understand. [00:06:08] Truth is not a left-wing value. [00:06:10] That's my motto. [00:06:12] All right, everybody. [00:06:12] His video is up at DennisPrager.com. [00:06:16] You can go to AmiHorowitz.com. [00:06:18] We're happy either way, but it's easy to go through our website. [00:06:22] It's a terrific video.
