Bill Gertz: Is China to Blame for the Pandemic?⎜The Dennis Prager Radio Show
| Copy link to current segment

Time Text
I have not talked about China and what a villain that government is, much because I'm preoccupied with what I believe is probably the greatest worldwide mistake in history, the worldwide lockdown.
And the hydroxychloroquine scandal of opposition to something that clearly helps people in the early stages of this virus.
There's so much to fight at this time.
But now I'm going to talk to you about China with a China expert.
He's an investigative reporter for the Washington Times.
I have had him on my show since 1926, I believe.
You've been on my show from the beginning.
Yeah, you're the greatest on the radio scene, especially covering these national security topics.
Oh, that's very sweet of you.
Anyway, it's Bill Gertz, G-E-R-T-Z. He has one of these great little broadside books.
It's sort of a well-published pamphlet.
How China's Communist Party Made the World Sick.
The paperback will be out.
When is the paperback coming out?
18th or 19th.
There were delays in Amazon distribution because of the virus outbreak.
No, because of the lockdown.
Right.
We have to...
Everybody falls into that, including me.
And we have to restate the reality.
And anyway, the book is How China's...
I just bought it, by the way.
I just want you to know I just spent eight bucks.
And I want you to tell the Gertz family.
Okay.
How China's Communist Party made the world sick.
You know you're China.
So go ahead.
How did it make the world sick?
What's your statement?
Cover up lies and deception on the part of the Communist Party of China.
The bottom line is they're still dissembling about how this all started.
I've given a very detailed inside look at the outbreak that began technically on December 1st.
Chinese are trying to obscure that date to blame it on the U.S. But in December, for sure, this pneumonia-like plague started.
And initially, the Chinese claimed that it was from a wild animal market, some tainted meat there.
And unfortunately, that story is totally bogus.
It's not holding up yet.
Many in the American scientific community, which have close ties to these people in Wuhan, that were doing this deadly research on bat coronaviruses.
So basically, we're looking at, and I think this is coming out, I reported it on January 26, and I mentioned it in the new book, I said, look, this probably came from a lab, and it's probably related to some biological weapons research that they do, because the Chinese do not distinguish between civilian and military things.
The same factories that make refrigerators make their long-range missiles, and the same holds true for these two laboratories in Wuhan.
One is the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
The other is the Wuhan Centers for Disease Control, and they have catalogued.
In the last 12 years alone, over 2,000 new viruses.
And if you go back to history...
Okay, hold on.
Forgive me.
What does it mean, catalogued?
They have created 2,000 new viruses?
They've uncovered.
They've found them through research.
One of the guys involved is a guy named Tian Junhua, and he's considered the Batman of Wuhan.
And he went into...
They have a state-run video in China that came out in December showing him going into...
Caves in China and capturing bats and taking samples from them.
And from these bats, not all of them are bat viruses.
They found them in insects as well.
But they found at least several hundred bat viruses, which they were cataloging and researching at these two laboratories in Wuhan.
Go on.
And so how did all of a sudden this...
The deadly new coronavirus.
Again, that's the key to this whole thing.
This is a virus that has not been discovered before.
Wait, wait, wait.
Meaning it is not found in nature?
Well, they're claiming it's found in nature.
We don't know because they've blocked off all access to Wuhan by international investigators.
They've refused to provide and share research that they've been doing at the laboratories.
So, right now, the official Chinese explanation for the origin of this virus is, this is something that scientists need to study.
Well, okay, China, tell us what you have in your computers, in your research labs, and they won't do it.
And again, we're not getting support from the American scientific community.
The U.S. intelligence community does not have the scientific expertise to assess and analyze this.
Well, okay.
All right.
Wait, wait, wait, wait.
Go back to the scientific community.
What does that mean we're not getting the support of the scientific community?
If you look at many of the research papers that were done and which China has since cut off publication, there have been, I would say, at least a score, maybe more, of scientific research papers on bat coronaviruses.
They include prominent Chinese scientists, but they also include prominent American scientists.
People like Dr. Plant from Jonathan Plant from the University of Texas, Galveston, which is the main repository in the United States of all virus samples.
University of North Carolina was also doing extensive research.
And just recently we found out that Dr. Fauci, the coronavirus task force expert, his institute on allergies and infectious disease has been giving money to some of these Chinese researchers.
So the reason the American scientific community has been silent or supportive of China is because The U.S. scientists have been going to China, where there are fewer regulations on the use of primates and other monkeys and test animals over there.
So they're trying to protect their colleagues and protect their research.
But they need to come clean.
They need to tell us what was going on there.
They need to explain to us how this virus began, where it was discovered.
Like I say, the initial story was that it was in this Wuhan wet market, a wild animal market.
And yet the Chinese closed the market.
They bleached everything and destroyed evidence in the process.
Well, why would they do that if you believe it was not caused by a wet market?
Well, I believe that the wet market is part of a cover-up operation.
Within 280 yards of this wet market is the Wuhan Centers for Disease Control, where the Batman of Wuhan I mentioned works, and where he had kept some 2,000 bats.
He had 2,000 bats there.
And someone recently posted on a China expert website that I follow the menu for the wet market.
It had foxes and snakes and everything, but no bats.
There were no bats for sale at this market.
Right, so why would they bleach a market that has nothing to do with it?
Well, I think they want to pretend that this was where the outbreak began.
Oh, I see.
Oh, I thought you said they bleached it as a cover-up.
They bleached it to make believe that that's the real source and they want it clean.
Right.
And from very early on in the outbreak, the outbreak was announced in China on the 23rd of January.
Immediately thereafter, the United States at the highest levels, including President Trump, asked the Chinese to allow U.S. virus investigators to go to Wuhan.
They were never permitted to go there.
After many months, a United Nations World Health Organization team was sent there to China.
And while they were there, they ended up waiting two weeks in Beijing.
And when they went to Wuhan, they were there for one day.
And what were they able to see or gather there?
Their final report said, we don't know where the virus began.
I read it extensively.
This team produced a report.
It had only one American on it.
