Dennis Prager Show - Male/Female Hour Valentines Edition Aired: 2020-02-13 Duration: 07:39 === Romance Myths Debunked (02:16) === [00:00:00] I'm not a Halloween fan, but I don't care. [00:00:02] People enjoy it. [00:00:03] Let them enjoy themselves. [00:00:06] But I think they're good things. [00:00:08] I think that romance is a good thing. [00:00:11] I think expressions of romantic love are good things. [00:00:15] What could be bad about it, right? [00:00:17] And I mean it. [00:00:21] So, there are two studies. [00:00:24] I mean, probably 400, but there were two that I, the one that I saw, which is what engendered this topic. [00:00:30] This was in the Daily Mail. [00:00:33] Big headline. [00:00:34] Relationship expert busts the biggest myths about romance. [00:00:40] And one of, so they, in the Daily Mail, which is in England, it's a very interesting website. [00:00:48] And they have bullet points. [00:00:53] And one of the bullet points is, men prefer sex to gifts, while women care more about thought than extravagance. [00:01:05] Perth, I guess Australia, Perth dating coach Luann Ward clarified common misconceptions. [00:01:16] And this was one of them. [00:01:21] 90%. [00:01:22] A resounding 90% of men surveyed by illicit encounters said sex was their number one wish for Valentine's Day. [00:01:34] That's a very good point from the Triple G and any other day. [00:01:46] And in a leap year, that adds a day. [00:01:50] Just for the record. [00:01:53] Now, let me make something clear. [00:01:55] I know this. [00:01:56] I'm going to get emails where the relationship is inverted. [00:02:00] Where the woman wants it more than the man does. === Why Love Includes Intimacy (03:44) === [00:02:03] And I know that happens. [00:02:05] And life is filled with frustration. [00:02:09] But I'm talking about the normal problem. [00:02:14] And if it's a problem at all. [00:02:17] But it's... [00:02:20] It's a significant thing. [00:02:24] And I must admit, this has been somewhat of a puzzle to me. [00:02:30] If you love your husband, and that's a big if, and that'll give you more ifs. [00:02:35] If you love your husband, and he's a good man, those are the two ifs, okay? [00:02:41] The two big ifs. [00:02:44] Why wouldn't you have sex with him? [00:02:48] Perhaps more often. [00:02:49] And I'm not pushing for daily. [00:02:54] But when I get emails, I got an email this week from a man who loves his wife. [00:02:59] I mean, he wrote, he was emphatic. [00:03:01] I love her. [00:03:01] She's a great mother. [00:03:02] She's a great wife, even. [00:03:04] But we haven't had sex in five years. [00:03:07] So he asked me for advice. [00:03:09] By the way, advice is spelled with a C, not an S. S is advise. [00:03:14] C is advice. [00:03:17] There's another word. [00:03:18] That's another word that's commonly misspelled, as is lose. [00:03:23] It's amazing how many people spell lose. [00:03:25] L-O-O-S-E. It can only be a function of people not reading. [00:03:33] But anyway, I get those. [00:03:38] By the way, he says advice. [00:03:41] And my heart goes out to this guy, but I said, you know the answer. [00:03:47] Here are your choices. [00:03:49] Make peace with it. [00:03:53] Improve the situation. [00:03:55] Or divorce. [00:03:57] I mean, he knows. [00:03:59] There's no such thing as it. [00:04:00] What am I going to give advice? [00:04:02] I'd like to give her advice. [00:04:04] I wish I could speak to her. [00:04:08] You know, I rather speak to the wife of that man who wrote me that than I would any person in the world. [00:04:17] Any president, any prime minister. [00:04:19] Do you know that? [00:04:20] And you know I'm telling the truth. [00:04:23] Because I have very little interest in famous people. [00:04:27] Even as a kid, they didn't interest me. [00:04:31] I always prefer to be with friends for dinner. [00:04:34] I still do. [00:04:35] But I mean it. [00:04:36] Maybe this man is listening. [00:04:38] Sir, I would rather talk to your wife in private so that she doesn't have you around for where tension might arise than anyone that I could think of in the world. [00:04:54] How's that? [00:04:56] Because I would love to know what, given the importance to your husband, whom you Do you love him? [00:05:07] I assume she'd say yes. [00:05:09] Do you feel he's a good man? [00:05:10] I think she'd say yes. [00:05:12] So what would she say? [00:05:14] Maybe you could help me. [00:05:15] Do you know what this woman might say if she loves him and he's a good man? [00:05:21] Don't call up and tell me, well, you know, of course she's angry at him. [00:05:25] If she's angry at him, then okay. [00:05:27] So then she doesn't think he's a good man. [00:05:29] Are you angry at a good man? === YouGov's Valentine's Day Survey (02:08) === [00:05:32] Or at least... [00:05:34] Would you acknowledge that you're angry at a good man? [00:05:37] So Valentine's Day is coming up. [00:05:39] So this is the study, the Daily Mail, from this Australian advisor to couples. [00:05:47] And she said 90% of the men would prefer, for Valentine's Day, sex over a gift. [00:05:57] Okay. [00:05:59] So next, YouGov. [00:06:01] What's YouGov? [00:06:03] It's not a government thing, is it? [00:06:05] No, it's like you determine. [00:06:07] You determine? [00:06:09] Oh, not government. [00:06:11] You govern, as it were. [00:06:13] Yeah, it's a famous site. [00:06:15] Yeah, okay, so this is their listing. [00:06:22] The thing men most want for Valentine's Day, sexual acts slash favors. [00:06:30] Second a card. [00:06:32] Third, chocolates and candy. [00:06:36] Fourth, wine, liquor. [00:06:38] And sixth, electronics. [00:06:41] It's a strange survey. [00:06:45] I mean, in first place, honey, would you like sex or a card? [00:06:54] The guy would think you're joking. [00:06:59] That's his only possible reaction. [00:07:02] Sex or chocolate? [00:07:05] Hmm. [00:07:07] Let me think about that and I'll get back to you next Valentine's Day. [00:07:10] Women. [00:07:11] This is awesome. [00:07:13] Women's preferences. [00:07:14] This is on YouGov. [00:07:16] Number one. [00:07:18] Chocolates and candy. [00:07:21] Number two. [00:07:22] A card. [00:07:23] Number three. [00:07:24] Flowers. [00:07:25] Number four. [00:07:26] Jewelry. [00:07:27] Number five, certificate for massage slash spa day. [00:07:34] Did you notice that something's not on that list that's on the men's list? [00:07:39] Electronics!
