Time Text
Utah is now, I think, is it the 18th state?
Is that what it is?
To ban 19th state to outlaw conversion therapy for minors, CNN, after a new rule from its governor went into effect late Tuesday.
The ban issued by Governor Gary Herbert, a Republican, comes a year after an effort to end the practice.
In the conservative state stalled in the legislature.
Now listen to the CNN description of conversion therapy and you will understand why fake news is an appropriate term.
Conversion therapy is an attempt to forcibly change someone's sexual orientation or gender identity.
It does not work and studies show that those subjected to it Okay, it's an attempt to forcibly change someone's sexual orientation or gender identity.
That's the definition of conversion therapy.
So that means, my friends, that if your son says he's a girl, your 10-year-old son, I'm a girl, you cannot take him to a therapist.
Who helps him make peace with the fact that he is a boy.
With the biological fact of being a boy.
They added the word forcibly.
How do you forcibly anyway?
How do you forcibly?
Do you know?
You are really a boy.
And we are tying you down until you acknowledge it.
Or we are...
I don't know.
Waterboarding you until you acknowledge it.
This forcible thing.
So does this mean, I'm serious, does this mean if you're 10 and you say a boy says he's a girl, you can't take the child to a psychologist to work it out?
Is that what it means?
You don't know.
Was a psychologist taking a risk?
A psychologist taking a big risk.
Then the other one, studies show.
Studies show.
The studies on anything controversial with regard to these subjects are not to be trusted.
The people who make the studies have an end in mind.
they geared the quote-unquote study toward that end.
He declined to comment further, the governor.
Why do people do that?
Because they know that they don't have any logic or reason behind what they say.
Wouldn't you want to go public?
If you were the governor of a state and you banned, I mean, that's a big deal.
The interference in free speech here is spectacular.
Or what if, let's say, what if an adult, is this ban just for youth?
Yeah, minors.
Okay.
So a minor says he's the opposite sex, she's the opposite sex.
No one can work with your child to go back and affirm his or her biological sex.
Maybe I'm wrong.
Maybe I'm reading it wrong.
CNN previously reported that Reported that Herbert directed the state's psychological licensing board to draft rules to regulate conversion therapy in the state.
According to an audio recording of a meeting held by the board at that time, the board agreed that it would draft its rules to apply to adults and minors, which the governor's office approved of during the meeting.
So it's also adults?
It's not clear, right?
The headline and the text seem to differ.
The board would try to make the rules as broad and comprehensive as possible.
Those are their words.
18 other states have done this.
Well, alright.
