Dennis Prager Show - Jonathan Schanzer on the Baghdad Embassy attack Aired: 2020-01-03 Duration: 02:57 === Iranians Voting for Trump? (02:17) === [00:00:00] I'm sure you have never been asked the following question. [00:00:04] You've been asked many, but I know you haven't been asked this one. [00:00:09] Nevertheless, let me pose it. [00:00:10] This is obviously utterly hypothetical. [00:00:14] It's not even hypothetical because it can't happen. [00:00:16] But if the Iranian people, all, I don't know, is it 60 million? [00:00:21] How many people live in Iran? [00:00:22] Is that about the number? [00:00:23] I think it's 80 million. [00:00:24] 80 million, okay. [00:00:27] If all of those over the age of 18 could vote for the American president, who would they vote for? [00:00:38] Yeah, that's very hypothetical. [00:00:41] Look, what I would say is they might actually vote for Trump right now, given that the Trump administration is pushing back on Iran regionally. [00:00:50] Well, that's why I asked it. [00:00:53] Yeah. [00:00:54] I'm not sure how much they love the man himself, but I think they're very pleased with this foreign policy versus the foreign policy that we saw for the previous eight years. [00:01:04] Right. [00:01:04] In other words, what you're saying to me and my listeners is that between Donald Trump and Barack Obama, more Iranians would favor the current president. [00:01:18] I think that's absolutely correct. [00:01:20] And again, I don't think it has as much to do with this president's personality. [00:01:24] It's irrelevant. [00:01:26] Clearly irrelevant. [00:01:27] Yeah, go on. [00:01:29] Yeah, they are very happy with the fact that this regime is under siege. [00:01:33] They're not happy about the economic situation, but they also understand that under sanctions, the Iranian regime is deferring the pain to the people while enriching themselves. [00:01:43] And this administration here in Washington continues to expose the human rights violations. [00:01:49] They continue to expose the corruption, and they continue to expose the way that Iran is spending its money on foreign adventurism, and that is not resonating with the people. [00:02:00] And it's for that reason that they very much appreciate this administration's Iran policy. === Amazing Meeting Picture (00:53) === [00:02:05] You know, you'll find this of interest, so my listeners, but I know you will. [00:02:13] I flew El Al Airlines from Tehran to Tel Aviv. [00:02:20] That is not surprising. [00:02:23] For your listeners, there's a fascinating picture out there, if they want to Google it, Ezra Weitzman, who was former president of Israel. [00:02:34] It was an American-made jet. [00:02:36] I forget what model it was. [00:02:38] He flew directly to Iran and was met there by the Shah. [00:02:43] And there is this amazing picture of that meeting on the tarmac. [00:02:48] There are all these wonderful stories about how the relationship was just thriving up until 1979 when everything just fell apart. [00:02:56] Exactly.
