Dennis Prager Show - DP Show Producer at the White House Aired: 2019-07-16 Duration: 07:27 === White House Social Media Conference (07:27) === [00:00:00] Jesse Smollett represents the New York Times. [00:00:03] Let us find racism because it is so hard. [00:00:08] Let us look for it and even invent it. [00:00:12] That is Jesse Smollett. [00:00:15] He should be the symbol for Nike. [00:00:20] Nike should hire Jesse Smollett. [00:00:24] I think that I should tweet that. [00:00:30] That would truly be in keeping with the left's theory of how racist America is. [00:00:38] Yesterday, there was a conference at the White House social media conference, and among those invited to attend was Prager University and Alan Estrin, producer of this radio show. [00:00:57] As well as co-founder of PragerU with me was there. [00:01:03] And let's get a first-hand report. [00:01:07] You were never in the White House, Alan, were you? [00:01:11] Well, that's not quite true. [00:01:13] I was there when I was 12 years old. [00:01:16] That was the last time I was there. [00:01:18] It hasn't changed that much. [00:01:20] It all looked very familiar to me. [00:01:24] Exactly. [00:01:25] In fact, there's... [00:01:27] In effect, it was the first time I was here. [00:01:30] Yeah, no, I get it. [00:01:31] But isn't there a little place Alan Estrin was here? [00:01:36] You know, I asked and then kind of shrugged. [00:01:40] Uh-huh. [00:01:42] That's sad. [00:01:43] All right, so what is it like, just emotionally? [00:01:50] You know, emotionally it's very... [00:01:57] I'm not going to say I was overwhelmed, but I was—you're full of a real, I would say, very healthy patriotism. [00:02:07] This is the most famous house in the world. [00:02:09] So many things happen here. [00:02:12] There's so much history here. [00:02:13] And you walk through the hallways, and there are these beautiful—I mean, you've been there, so you know. [00:02:19] There are these beautiful portraits of every president and first lady and historical figures. [00:02:26] It's an inspiring place. [00:02:28] So it's always, I can't say it's always fun to be there because I've only been there twice now, but it was special just to be there, yes. [00:02:38] Do you feel the presence of armed guards? [00:02:44] No, I didn't feel the presence of armed guards, but I was, first, well, I'll say this, to get into the White House, I went through four different security checks and they all did the same thing. [00:03:00] I went through one checkpoint and then I went to another checkpoint and had to do the exact same thing, went to a third checkpoint and did the exact same thing, and then had to go through a metal detector. [00:03:15] So they're very careful, obviously. [00:03:19] But once you're in, you don't have a sense of armed guards. [00:03:23] No. [00:03:24] I didn't have that sense. [00:03:27] There are military people all over the place in uniform, which adds to the majesty of the White House, I think. [00:03:38] Where did this social media meeting take place? [00:03:42] There were two meetings. [00:03:44] There was one smaller gathering of about 30 or 40 people in the Roosevelt Room on the... [00:03:54] I believe it was the west side that could have been the east side of the White House. [00:03:58] There was another much larger meeting of 200 people in the east room. [00:04:09] How many of these people, how many in either meeting did you happen to know? [00:04:16] In the smaller meeting, I would say, if there were 30 people there, I knew. [00:04:21] Five and in the bigger meeting, I knew a lot of people. [00:04:26] One observation that I will make about the larger meeting, I looked around and I thought, gee, we did a PragerU video with this person, that person, this person, that person. [00:04:38] There were a lot of PragerU videos represented in that meeting. [00:04:44] Right. [00:04:45] I mean, James O'Keefe was there and... [00:04:48] A video that we haven't released yet. [00:04:52] Another presenter was there. [00:04:54] You remember Joy Villa? [00:04:55] She was there. [00:04:57] Charlie Kirk was there. [00:04:59] He's done several videos for us. [00:05:02] So what did you take away? [00:05:06] You had never met the president in person, correct? [00:05:09] No. [00:05:10] And I didn't meet him in person this time either. [00:05:12] But you were with him. [00:05:13] No, no, you didn't shake his hand, but you met him. [00:05:16] I mean, in the sense that he wasn't on TV. He was in front of you. [00:05:20] Yes. [00:05:21] Right. [00:05:22] So, is he different in person than you had a sense of... [00:05:27] I mean, you've been observing him closely for years. [00:05:30] Yeah. [00:05:32] No, and I actually thought to myself, well, just the same. [00:05:35] There's no difference. [00:05:36] And his presentation... [00:05:39] It was the first time, as you point out, that I saw him in person. [00:05:43] And I know this, obviously, from watching you give many speeches. [00:05:50] In person, there's a real atmosphere to the room when somebody's presenting something in person. [00:05:58] No matter how you do a close-up on TV, it's different. [00:06:03] It's a live event. [00:06:07] He's a very impressive person in the way he presents his ideas. [00:06:12] I mean, he understands how to present an idea. [00:06:17] And to see him work the crowd is something to behold. [00:06:24] Because? [00:06:26] Because he's so incredibly aware. [00:06:30] I mean, it's another thing that I've learned from you. [00:06:33] He's so aware of who the audience is and what kind of reaction he's getting from the audience and how to build on that reaction. [00:06:43] It's a skill. [00:06:47] I'm not sure it's a skill. [00:06:48] I don't know. [00:06:49] I'm sure you can get better at it, but he obviously has a natural instinct. [00:06:55] He is a showman. [00:06:57] His events are in some ways... [00:07:00] When he's speaking in public like this and mostly off the cuff, it's like a stand-up routine. [00:07:08] Just very, very entertaining. [00:07:12] All right. [00:07:13] Hold on. [00:07:14] Alan Estrin, my producer, was at the White House yesterday. [00:07:18] 1-8 Prager 776. What did they say? [00:07:22] I will, of course, be testifying in the U.S. Senate next Tuesday.
