Donald Trump is under multiple criminal inquiries, but there are signs he may face charges.
In the first of those this week...
For more, I want to talk to the reporter who perhaps knows Trump the best, senior political correspondent for The New York Times, Maggie Haberman, who has been awarded a Pulitzer Prize for her coverage of the former president.
Maggie, behind the scenes, what can you tell us about how Trump is handling this situation?
Look, Jake, he's very anxious about the prospect of being indicted for a couple of reasons.
Yes, two things can be true at once.
He is aware that there are reasons to believe this could help him politically.
We have heard a lot about this this morning already.
But he does not want to face getting arrested, which is what happens when you get indicted.
You get fingerprinted.
You get brought in.
You have to ask for bail.
None of that is something that he is excited about.
So he and his folks, his political folks, are preparing for a huge blitz politically to push back on the Manhattan District Attorney.
You saw that start yesterday, although I don't think that his Truth Social post yesterday morning calling for protests was part of a grand plan.
He did it, and a bunch of his aides were surprised by it.
But I do think that that is separate from what you're going to see legally.
And while I know that his folks are suggesting this is a weak case, they don't actually know what the evidence is.
What it is is trivial compared to the other inquiries.
That doesn't mean there won't be a conviction, and they have to be mindful.
So what's going on in New York City?
DA Alvin Bragg was supposed to bring the charges today.
I thought that I was going to be sitting here today explaining to you the charges on President Trump, and yet it seems we have no charges.
The grand jury, in fact, isn't even going to be meeting today.
Interesting.
Okay, what's going on there?
So this is actually BBC, believe it or not.
New York grand jury hearing on Trump hush money case delayed.
New York grand jury considering whether, and by the way, I'm going to point this out.
So the media is sitting there telling you, oh, that's hush money, it's hush money, it's hush money.
But is it hush money?
Because it was a settlement.
Okay.
We know it was a settlement.
We've been told it was a settlement.
Trump's lawyer there, Joey Tacos, says that it was a settlement.
Stormy Daniels admitted it was a settlement.
And apparently in 2018, admitted that she made up the whole story.
That it was a shakedown because she knew he was running for office and would pay money to make it go away.
I'm not sure how that's not extortion in and of itself, but listen to this.
The grand jury will not meet as planned, citing law enforcement sources.
A Manhattan prosecutor may charge Mr. Trump over how he listened to this declared a payment to keep quiet about an alleged affair.
This is the most chicken.
Scratch chicken scratch.
Case you've ever and by the way, do you think this is going to be only one?
They're going to indict him in DC over the classified documents.
They're going to indict him over the Georgia.
They're going to indict him left from right.
He's their Moby Dick.
He's their white whale.
Their orange whale.
They're going to do everything they can to try to stop him because this is about the establishment.
This is about the regime.
This is about the one man who gave us four years of economic success.
Four years of peace in the world defeated ISIS and radicalism.
You don't even hear about radical Islam anymore.
Remember the caliphate was going to take over the world and suddenly one guy gets in and cleans it all up in four years.
They're going to take him because he said that he would stop the Ukraine war in 24 hours.
The one president in modern history To refuse to start any new wars.
And he's the one they want to indict.
Are you paying attention yet?
That's what this is all about.
This is about removing the populist nationalist movement from the United States, from Europe, from the West.
They don't want it to exist.
They want to undercut it.
They're going to go after the leaders.
They're going to pick people off one by one.
And they want you to sit there and say, oh, that's okay.
It's just some kid making memes in Brooklyn.
That's okay.
It's just Donald Trump.
That's okay.
It's just Alex Jones.
That's okay.
It's just Jack Posobiec.
And then eventually they will come for everyone.
And the people that they don't come for will be the ones who are being good little boys and girls.
They're not upsetting the apple cart.
They're apologizing to the establishment.
They're doing whatever the establishment wants them to do so that they can be good little boys who get their pat on the head and say, there you go.

And that is why that is why this grand jury Is not meeting today.

So for those of you listening on the podcast side, Xi Jinping is saying farewell to Vladimir Putin saying, saying, "We are seeing a change that has not been seen in 100 years, and we're doing it together."
The century of humiliation is a key concept to understand when you want to know Chinese history and you want to understand the Chinese worldview.
The way they say China, the word for China, the word China is an English word, obviously.
In Chinese, they don't say China.
This is a totally Western creation, socially constructed, right?
Well, while Alvin Bragg and Simon and Theodore and the rest of them are trying to take down Trump in Manhattan courthouse, this is what's going on in the rest of the world.
This is what they don't want you paying attention to.
The fact that this guy, same guy here, Xi Jinping, Millions of dollars to the Biden, at least 3 million that we know of in one transaction to Biden and his close family members.
But what's the century of humiliation?
The century of humiliation is an understanding in modern Chinese history, the way they teach history.
They say that the century of humiliation began in 1849, the opium wars and ran all the way to 1949.
What happened in 1949?
The founding of the People's Republic of China.
That was the final victory of communism in China.
As we've talked about at length here on the China Files, the thesis goes as this.
FDR and later Truman and the communists in the State Department wanted China to go communist.
This was the deal that they made with the Soviet Union in order For the Soviet Union to acquiesce.
To sign the charter of the United Nations.
To allow the establishment of the United Nations.
And the idea was always that the United States would be on top of all this.
Turns out though.
The deal has changed.
The deal has changed.
Because the United States now is not in the driver's seat anymore.
We're chasing our own tail.
While Russia and China are walking you through Iran, Saudi Arabia, the entire Middle East, Turkey, Syria, they're going through Africa.
40 African nations were there, by the way, with them.
In case you didn't know, they were also going through all this.
They call it the Global South.
The Global South is now looking to Russia and China as the world leaders, which ultimately, and read between the lines on this, Which ultimately means China is going to be in the driver's seat.
And Putin understands this, by the way.
He understands that because he's been cut off from the West, he has no choice but to go with China.
China, of course, is already in the driver's seat when it comes to the United States.
We thought they were going to be our junior partner, but guess what?
They realized along the way that if they took our money and started stealing all of our intellectual property, our IP, That eventually we would be beholden to them.
And we are, we saw this during COVID.
So they release COVID.
We don't even respond.
We don't even do anything.
By the way, just going to go ahead and say this.
I had a certain dinner with a very bad orange man last week.
And I mentioned to him this very situation about China.
Cause like everybody knows I'm a China guy.
I said, they have to pay for what they did, Mr. President.
They have to pay for what they did to you, to us, to our families, to our economy, our businesses, all of this.
With Xi Jinping, he did it.
Of course he did.
And he got away with it.
So while they're sitting there thinking of their century of humiliation, Xi Jinping is saying, we are embarking Into the century of dominance, dominance.
China wants to dominate the world economically.
They want to be the top dog.
They're already achieving this throughout Europe.
They're starting to achieve it more and more in the Americas.
Go to your store, go to whatever store is down, you know, down the street from you.
You'll see it right there.

Amazon, the pharma companies, these are all de facto Chinese companies now, all of them.
And you have to think of them that way.
So much of Silicon Valley.

Xi Jinping understands what time it is.
He's the one setting the clock and Vladimir Putin.
It's playing the hand that was dealt to him.
And it was dealt by the United States and the idiotic leaders that we've had for the last 30 years that tried to turn NATO into the world's global police, the global police force of, quote, world order.
By the way, Alex Jones used to say stuff like that in the 90s, and people would call him crazy.
Oh, you're talking about black helicopters.

From the Middle East to Eurasia and on, NATO was used again and again For this very same function.

And then NATO goes in and tries to get rid of Syria.

The way they did in Libya and Russia pushes back.
And now they're going to continue to push back in the United States and the petrodollar are going to fall.

James Gordon Meek was an award-winning, was or is, we don't know exactly what's going on, Emmy award-winning producer for ABC.
He's currently working, currently working, or was, as we now know, on a story, a book actually, about Operation Pineapple, which was this sort of erstwhile event that took place during Biden's disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal.
Apparently, while working on this book, His home was raided by the FBI.
We have reports, and this is from Rolling Stone, so you've got to take it with a grain of salt, that it was over classified information.
The question then becomes, if he was holding classified documents, the FBI raids him to go in, tries to get them back.
Very similar, by the way, to the Mar-a-Lago situation.
The question is, where's James Gordon Meeks?
So I told you back in October to take all Rolling Stone reporting with a grain of salt.
I said, you gotta take this with a grain of salt, folks.
Something doesn't smell right about this Rolling Stone story.
Classified documents, Operation Pineapple, what's really going on here?
All right, so we reported the story, but I said, take it with a grain of salt, because we're not really sure what's happening.
Well, now we know what was happening, because busted.
And our good friends over at the Post Millennial have this.
The Rolling Stone editor-in-chief covered up reporting.
That his friend was being arrested for child pornography.
Why would he do that?
Interesting.
This is from the great Hannah Nightingale.
A new report has revealed that the man who edited Rolling Stone's initial story on the FBI raid of ABC producer James Gordon Meek was later revealed to have been charged with possessing child pornography, removed all references to the charge from the report, and was an associate of That's not good.
So, former Rolling Stone journalist Tatiana Siegel broke the news that the FBI had raided his home in April, and that Emmy award-winning producer James Gordon Meek had disappeared from mind.
However, Noah Schachman, the current Rolling Stone editor-in-chief, the former editor-in-chief of the Daily Beast, a paragon of journalistic integrity, There was about as far left as you can come.
They're absolute scumbags.
He removed key information from her sources that Meek had been raided by the FBI as part of a child pornography federal investigation.
Schachtman considered Meek, quote, a peer with whom he was friends, a friend.
A concern that Siegel had brought up to corporate officials.
Schachman reportedly told colleagues that the two travel in the same professional circles.
Oh, really?
Is that what they're calling it now?
What other kind of travel are you guys up to in your professional circles, Noah?
You and James Gordon Meek traveling a lot together, Noah?
Traveling to, I don't know, maybe some trips to the Caribbean?

Oh, it's the Jimi Hendrix of the shahel emerging amidst the insurgency of ISIS and al-Qaeda jihadis in Northwest Africa who detest and destroy everything Western.

But listen to this.
At a staff meeting in late September, Siegel reminded Schachmann that she was working on the story, and the following week, Schachmann stepped in to edit the story, a move that was, quote, rare.
Siegel warned reportedly by Schachmann against including the words child pornography in the story.
According to what Siegel told others, Schachman and she agreed that the article would reflect that the FBI's interest stemmed from concerns of possible criminal behavior, quote, outside the scope of Meek's work that has had nothing to do with national security or journalism.
However.
He began telling others that he didn't think that she had nailed down her sourcing.
And what's interesting is that he didn't actually give any information, we're told here.
And we know that turns out that our sources were incredibly correct.
They were 100% correct, absolutely accurate.
But Noah Schachman, the editor-in-chief of Rolling Stone, perished the thought that Rolling Stone, a guy who used to run The Daily Beast, would ever lie to cover up for his friend who had been... And why is it... See, there are times where I sit there and I think, You're gonna say something that's gonna get you in trouble again.
You're gonna do it.
And I just... I... Why is it always child porn?
Every.
Single.
Time.
Why is it always child porn that they are trying to protect?
Why is it always child sex crimes?
The trafficking in child pornography, the possession of child pornography, friends of theirs who are involved with child pornography... If you had a friend If you had a friend that was involved in child pornography, you would be the first person to report them, right?
You'd be the very first person to call that out.
You would say, you got to do something with this guy.
This guy's got a problem.
This guy's got to go away.
If you found out direct evidence that someone you knew was involved in the exploitation of children, what kind of a person?
What kind of a person?
Would cover up the exploitation of children.
What kind of a person would have something to gain from covering up the exploitation of children?
A pedophile.
An accused pedophile, to be sure.
