Every Friday on Oz, it's Celebrity Superfan Takeover.
Are you ready for this?
Go!
This week, Tia Mori with our first ever Micro Faves Awards.
Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding.
And the winner is...
Oh, my God!
And Tia is serving up her own Oz-approved microwave dessert.
This is my gluten-free lemon mug cake.
Plus, the science behind binge-watching.
I'm very excited to hear this.
Coming up next.
Hi, Dr. Oz.
What the?
Fiat, do you ever get the feeling do you ever get the feeling that you're seeing double?
Story of my life.
Are you ready for season 11?
Yeah!
Yeah!
Hey, guys. guys.
Hi!
Look at all these twins.
Hello!
Look at all these twins!
So cool!
Twins, twins, twins!
Guys, how are you?
Oh my goodness.
Thank you, Dr. Oz.
I may have the most famous twin with me here, but the whole audience are twins!
Where are the twins?
That's so cool!
So awesome!
And they're, like, dressed alike, too.
That's so cool.
So it's Celebrity Super Fan Friday, best-selling author, chef, sister-sister sitcom icon, and famous twin, Tia Mori, is here, Tia!
So excited to be here with you.
All week long, we put Tia to the task of investigating the biggest microwave solutions that can make your life easier.
And she's even going to share her viral microwave recipe.
Actually, what do you have in your hands there?
All right.
Drum roll, please.
All right, Dr. Oz, I have in my hands the winners of the first-ever Dr. Oz's micro-fave award!
There's no fireworks with Tia.
My team at Tia may be investigating the best no-fail recipes and hacks for your microwave, all these cool things, and she's been keeping them a secret.
Told me nothing.
And speaking of secrets, can I start with something that really amazed me about you?
Sure.
Your dramatic weight loss.
Yeah.
This is so cool.
Aw, thank you.
Really impressive.
60 pounds after the birth of that beautiful little one.
Yes, yes.
Now, Cairo does look like candy to me.
She's beautiful.
But what you were able to accomplish is remarkable.
How'd you do it?
You know, I always say it was very easy yet hard.
And what I mean by easy is I just watched what I ate.
It was all about just taking out, you know, the bad stuff and just eating protein and veggies and exercising.
The hard part is doing all of that, right?
Is it hard now day to day as you do it?
No, I will say no because I've really made it a priority.
It's definitely really important to me and I put it in my schedule.
Just like how you make a doctor's appointment or a hair appointment or a nail appointment.
I make that appointment or I carve out that time to make sure that I work out and I take care of myself.
It's all about self-care.
Do twins help themselves?
Tamara helped you?
Oh, of course.
Oh, yes, definitely.
Do all the twins help each other out when you have problems?
They're a little bonded.
Yes.
They're best friend.
More than best friend.
And the thing about your story, which is painful for me to acknowledge, but it happens, is you were fat shamed during pregnancy.
Oh my gosh, yes.
It's been one of the most beautiful things possible.
Yeah.
I'm still shamed.
You know, it's crazy to me because I feel like, you know, this is a time when women are so vulnerable, right?
They just had their baby.
They're going through hormonal changes, postpartum depression.
They're just trying to adjust with having this new beautiful baby in their lives.
And then all of a sudden you hear people just saying really not nice and, you know, mean words.
And I call it bullying.
And the reason why I say that is because...
You know, this is something that's serious.
I know what it does to the psyche.
And there are children out there taking their own lives just because of what people are saying to them.
So I don't have any time for it.
I really don't.
We can do better than that.
We can.
All right, so I wanted to get your take on a big health topic.
Okay.
Everyone's talking about it.
It's regarding the family.
Okay.
Are they better off breaking up with their family?
Is it okay to ever do that?
So let's take the example of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, which you guys are fascinated by as I have been.
Yeah.
I understand you're also obsessed with Meghan Markle.
Obsessed.
In a good way or a bad way?
In a good way.
I love that she's, you know, she always says what's on her mind.
You know, she's an advocate.
And she, you know, goes by the beat of her own drum.
And I love that.
Especially when you're put in some sort of traditional family.
She's like, if this is not working for me, then it's just not working for me.
And that takes a lot of...
Strength.
Well, she's got the uber, uber official family.
Yeah.
And yet she's decided to leave it.
So is it ever okay for the rest of us, the non-royals, to leave our family as well?
I personally believe if you're not feeling supported in any kind of way, right?
If you feel like you're in some sort of toxic environment, if you're not happy, then, you know, I think you should do whatever you need to do to make yourself, you know, at peace.
So let's do a point-counterpoint here.
My thought is, the reason we fight with our families is if we weren't related, we wouldn't be friends with them.
But that's actually good training.
Now you have to figure out how to deal with people you normally wouldn't be friends with, so it's good for you and good for them.
And there was a poll done by the American Psychological Association.
They said people are more stressed out about their families than they are about going off to pay their bills.
Wow.
Which shows you how significant it is.
Anyway, thank you for helping us with the stressful drama.
No problem.
Speaking of family, there's someone...
From Tia's family, from your family, they had a little present for you, and she insisted on sharing it with us.
No way!
A couple of our friends, take a look at your screen.
It's Tia's twin, Tamara.
I wanted to check in along with the rest of her co-hosts at The Real!
Oh my gosh!
Take a look.
Hi Cece, we hope you have so much fun guest hosting for Dr. Oz today.
He is awesome.
I just know you're gonna kill it.
Our friends at Dr. Oz wanted us to give you some advice on how to host a daytime talk show.
So when it comes down to it, just be your authentic self, which I know you know how to do.
Yes.
You are good to go.
That's right.
You're so good at being authentic, girl.
I watch your quick fix show and it's magnetic how you are, so I can't wait to see you on this.
Now, sometimes authentic can go the wrong way if you're not paying attention to your face, so just make sure you keep this quiet.
You're speaking from experience, I can tell.
I'm gonna say, just have fun, girl.
If you're having fun, the audience will have fun watching you.
I forgot what I was gonna tell you.
You had some advice?
I forgot.
But you know what, I'll text you, Tia.
Do it, you'll kill it.
You're gonna kill it, Tia!
I got some surprises.
Yeah, what a great surprise.
Aw, thanks girls.
Your sister organized that.
Aw.
Thanks for the Ladies of the Real, fantastic co-hosts as you are.
So, you're a natural co-hosting.
Yes.
You've got a lot of talent in many different areas, but I'm just curious whether you've been able to con people by switching places with your sister.
Have you ever co-hosted with her?
On The Real, anywhere else?
You know, I've never co-hosted with her, but my sister and I, we did have this switcheroo moment one time before when we were in school, high school.
And we were in the same class, and we just kind of, like, swapped each other's chairs.
And the teacher, she never knew.
We're just that good.
Oh, my goodness.
Diabolically good.
Up next.
You know what that sound means?
Our big microwave investigation is ready.
We're uncovering the best microwave hacks and recipes that will never fail you.
So stick around.
Let's go back.
You were five years of age.
What happened?
That's when the drugs were introduced to me.
How so?
What do you mean, how so?
Most of that abuse took place in the unfinished basement.
I was chained to that pole.
She pulled my pants down.
She took an old razor blade.
This is like Hannibal Lecter stuff.
All new Oz.
That's coming up on Monday.
I'm back with the host, Deamorey.
And we're here to make you love your microwave even more than you ever thought you could.
With the help of Tia and an army of chefs, really an army, and some hope hooks too, we launched a big microwave investigation to uncover the best microwave recipes that will never fail you.
Yes, and after countless taste tests and experiments, we've awarded the most trusted recipes, our golden seal of approval, the Micro Fave Award!
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!
From perfectly foamy lattes that baristas don't want you to know about, to breakfast sandwiches better than what you'd get at a fast food place, to restaurant quality salmon, we're taking your favorite gadget to new heights today, Dr. Oz.
Very special.
So based on your investigation, there are three things, three things that are vitally important to making a successful recipe put in the microwave.
The first one is all about moisture control, which is a problem for me because I always think it's going to dry the thing out.
Yeah, so you definitely have to make sure that you have just the right amount of moisture.
You don't want to have too much moisture, right?
And then you don't want to have too little because it's going to dry it out.
Timing.
Timing.
I mean, come on, you don't want to burn it up, right?
You have to, yeah, you have to make sure because the microwave, it cooks six times faster than the oven.
So you want to make sure that you do it in small increments.
How do you deal with someone like me who's very sensitive to texture issues?
Well, see, that's a hard one.
It's, you know, the texture is all about the texture.
And you want to make sure that you play around with different textures in the microwave just to make it really nice and interesting.
We're not frying and we're not broiling here, so that's going to be the challenge.
But it's all achievable.
Yes.
The first micro-fave recipe we uncovered, the perfect latte.
It's the hack baristas don't want you to know about.
But award-winning coffee expert, Erika Vanay, let us in on her secret.
So the challenge is to make a latte only using a microwave and that's actually really difficult because you need an espresso machine to make espresso.
So the workaround is cold brew.
I can make coffee hot on a microwave but I can't make steaming milk with foam.
We gotta figure out a way to get foam in there.
So I need something that can add air and I think I know what it is.
This idea of frothing the milk Technique, while it's cold, this is not heated up, to create foam.
Oh yeah!
Super foamy.
Okay, so what we're gonna do next is we're gonna nuke some milk and then try to pull that foam out from what I already shook up to add on top of it.
Nuke your milk for a minute and a half.
Oh yeah.
Nice and warmings.
And next, I'm gonna add the foam that I shook into the drink on top.
And I don't know, can you see?
I wanna scoop through to the bottom and then pull out all of that really beautiful microphone.
I have espresso, steamed milk, and foam.
That's actually really good!
Cheers!
So, Erica Roney is here along with her microwave magic lattes.
You tested a lot of microwave lattes.
Most of them you found wanting.
Why did so many fail?
Well, an espresso machine actually uses a lot of barometric pressure to make espresso and add foam into the milk for a latte, and you can't use barometric pressure or generate it in a microwave.
So I had a lot of fun working around the hacks, so I used cold brew, which is really concentrated in place of the espresso, and then I used a shaker to make all of the foam.
Show us specifically how to do this, because it's got a perfect cloud of foam.
Yeah, you want to see the shake?
Yes, I do have a question, and I think it's a really important question.
Yes, it is.
I love your laugh.
So what kind of milk should you use?
Well, you can use any milk that you want.
I used whole milk because full fat actually holds onto foam a lot.
It's easier, and you can generate it a lot quicker.
I also really like super fatty things because they taste really good.
I know.
But you can use, you know, skim, plant-based milks, like oat milk is having a big moment right now.
All of it foams up.
Tia, micro fave award, yes or no?
Does it get your approval?
One more sip.
I like the appearance of it, and you got passed that tune for me.
Matias, she's a very difficult judge.
Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding.
What I like about it is the froffiness.
It's great, and I still can't believe that you can get that in the microwave.
And it's not bitter at all from being over, you know.
Save some money, get some of this stuff at the store, put it in your fridge, pull it out in the morning, you've got the rest of it down pat.
We'll put that whole video on drhours.com so you can cheat off and save yourself a little bit.
Boom!
Good job, thank you!
Next, we're going to turn the internet upside down for a breakfast sandwich.
That's microwavable.
It's so good you get it at a fast food joint.
Are you ready for this?
Wait, wait, wait.
Hold up, Dr. Oz.
I thought you didn't believe in breakfast.
Weren't you and Mark Wahlberg in some breakfast war?
I saw the video.
There's evidence.
You were doing push-ups and stuff?
You were having a beef.
Yes.
Yes, he said it.
Here's the thing.
I personally believe you could have a fantastic egg sandwich for breakfast.
Okay.
Just don't have it at breakfast time.
Have it later in the day.
If you have it at 10, 11, 12 in the morning, I'm good with it.
I like breakfast too, but not first thing in the morning.
Who here has breakfast first thing when they wake up?
Before you clap, most of you are having it because your parents told you it was good for you.
I'm here to say there's no medical evidence of that.
Have your breakfast a couple hours late, but they can still be breakfast sandwiches.
Okay, yeah.
You gotta pick a side, right?
Yeah, I'm picking your side.
Picking my side?
Are you team Oz?
Yes, I'm team Oz all the way.
You eat breakfast?
You know, I used to.
I used to eat breakfast in the morning because, you know, my parents said you have to.
It's kind of the thing that gets you going throughout your day.
But now I'm on your side.
I wait until like maybe in the afternoon.
I feel like I have more energy and I feel like I'm putting my digestive system at rest.
Is there some truth to that?
Yes, there's a lot of evidence.
I keep trying to tell Mark Wahlberg this.
Why won't he listen?
Let's take a closer look at what goes into the perfect breakfast sandwich.
It starts with the egg shape.
It's gotta be just right guys, right?
Fluffy but not spilling over the bread.
You don't want to get it mussy, right?
It's gonna line up just right as I show you here.
Okay, next the melted cheese, right?
The cheese that melts to perfection so you get that ooey gooey bite each time, right?
That looks beautiful.
And then next, the Canadian bacon.
I mean, come on.
There is no sandwich without bacon.
I mean, Dr. Oz.
So, yeah.
It's an ice cream sundae without the hot fudge.
Or the sprinkles.
Exactly.
Right.
It's right here.
And then finally the bread.
You need the bread.
Not too much.
Just the right amount.
Toasty.
A little chewy.
It keeps the whole sandwich together, right?
And gives you that crunch when you bite into it.
Yummy, yummy.
The question is, can you actually make it at home?
Is it easy to do?
So Tia and the team are working on it for breakfast sandwich recipes all week long.
They have cracked the formula with this microwave recipe.
Yes, I have cracked the code, you guys.
And Dr. Oz, this is so easy.
So basically what you want to make sure that you have in front of you is this kind of like mixing bowl, right?
Or this mug.
You want to make sure that the bowl or the mug is the size of the bread.
See?
Just like that, right?
And then what you're going to do, can you crack an egg for me?
So good.
And then you're going to line this with some oil, right?
The cup or the bowl here.
You're so, wow, look at you.
You're so good at that.
Wow.
He's a surgeon, so I mean, a doctor, come on.
Okay, then you're gonna add some water, right?
And then you're gonna add a pinch of salt and pepper, and then you, perfect.
I love that finesse.
Oh, you don't mix it up?
Well, I'm gonna mix it up in here.
And you can if you want in there, but you can just mix, mix, mix, mix, mix, mix, just like And then basically what you're gonna do, remember we talked about moisture, right?
So I'm gonna put this damp towel right on top.
And then also we don't want it to go all over the place.
We're just gonna put this into the microwave, just like that.
Okay, and then this is what you have.
A perfect shaped egg, just like that.
And you only did that for 40 seconds.
And then now we're just gonna assemble.
So we're just gonna go ahead, we're just gonna put our egg right here, just like that.
And then you're gonna put your bacon and your cheese, like that.
And then you're gonna pop it back into the microwave for an extra 20 seconds so that cheese is ooey and gooey, and then boom!
So basically, in about a minute and a half, I mean, it's faster than going to fast food.
It looks great, does it taste great?
I see.
Just give it a shot.
Is it doing everything it's supposed to do for you?
Everything it's supposed to do.
And the microfiche sealer approval, does it get it?
Approval, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding.
This is so good.
We'll put these recipes at Dr. Oz.com.
Up next, we investigate, can you really cook fish?
I'm talking about restaurant quality salmon in the microwave.
Stick around.
The deadline passed for the doomsday mother of two to bring her missing kids to authorities.
We speak to the reporter who tracked her down in Hawaii.
What is she hiding and where are her children?
That's coming up on Tuesday.
We are back with the wonderful TMRA.
It's our big microwave investigation.
Yes, and we just proved that you can make a barista-quality latte and a better-than-fast-food breakfast sandwich in the microwave, each earning the first-ever micro-fave award!
I love a little trophy there.
Thank you.
Now it's time for the big question.
Can you make restaurant-quality salmon using only the microwave?
Now you're skeptical.
You say you cook fish, you love fish.
You have talents in this area.
Yes, I do.
And the way I like my fish is I like to caramelize the top so that you have a really nice crust, right?
It's about texture, right?
So we were talking about texture.
And then I like for it to be nice and fluffy at the bottom.
And I usually do a nice saute, then I put it in the oven.
So, microwave, I'm a little skeptical.
So with your pessimism, I remained undaunted.
I don't want to go over the microwave experiment.
You guys love these microwave ideas.
So I enlisted Chef Jordan Andino to attempt this seemingly impossible with salmon.
Take a look at how we tackled the craziest microwave meal yet.
Today I'm going to show you how to cook a restaurant style dish using just a microwave.
Okay, let's go.
Let's go.
Now, let's put this in the microwave.
All right, the dish is done.
Let's check it out.
Yeah.
Oh, my gosh.
Okay, Dr. Oz, let's pull out Chef Jordan's dish.
Let's see it.
Could it be real?
Could it actually work?
It's real.
I promise you it's real.
Whoa, it's hot.
It's hot.
Be careful.
How long was it in there for?
Only six minutes.
Only six minutes?
It's so easy.
Look at this.
Oh my gosh, look at this.
This looks amazing.
I love all the different textures here.
It's nice, right?
So here, as you can see, you have some of the sauce, you have the different texture, as you were saying.
Oh my god.
And it's not like overcooked or anything?
No!
You see actually cooking the salmon in the microwave is a no-brainer.
Before we get a vote, because she is so hard to please, you have no idea.
Especially salmon.
Most spinnicky co-host I've ever had.
Why is it so simple?
Okay, so this is so simple for really one reason.
Cooking in a microwave can be finicky, it can be difficult.
What you really want to do in terms of fish is two things.
You want to get a nice caramelization on it, as you mentioned, or you want to steam it, as in a lot of Asian cultures do so.
So, what you do is you wrap it in papillote or in paper, and you steam it in the microwave.
The microwave creates a steam with a sauce.
I'm not even paying attention.
She checked out.
When I handed her her lunch, she checked out.
The main thing you want to do when you're cooking it is that you want to have some sort of texture, because you can't get that crisp.
So in this case, I put macadamia nuts on it.
It's delicious.
So there's a nice little Asian slaw here, veg, lemon for the acidity, and then that sauce that you saw me put on, it's all in there, and it's just super easy.
Six minutes in here, perfectly cooked sandwich.
The only part that's sort of freaking me out is this paper thing.
Yes.
It's like parchment paper.
It's like macrame over here.
It is.
Okay, so, hey, look.
So, all you have to do, this is just like regular parchment paper.
If you're a baker, you have this in your house.
Or pretty much...
You gotta finish the fish.
Save me a little, anyway.
Okay, look.
Look how easy it is.
All you gotta do is just make a very quick, easy fold.
Okay.
So, you just make...
You start with a square, and then you end up with kind of this, like...
Airplane.
Airplane, right?
It's origami.
Then when you have it, you just make a small rounded cut.
Like this.
You could have been a surgeon.
Thank you.
So leave that to the side.
And what you get is this nice circle, like so.
So as you get that, you then put your food right here.
Sort of like this.
Look at that!
And then so you just start creating a fold over here to seal it.
Be careful, don't use any staples or paper clips, especially in a microwave.
You're gonna make a fold just like this.
And once again, this technique is called en papillote, or en paper.
Just show off with that.
Look at this.
You're going on dates.
I think it's unpapio.
You could make this for a date.
This is a great date.
It's a great look.
So all you got to do, as you can see, there's no steam that's going to escape.
It's sealed fully.
You can pick it up.
It's very easy to use.
Then you take this, pop open in your microwave, put it in.
And you cooked it for how many minutes again?
Six minutes, and that's what you get.
All right, time for the micro-fave stamp of approval.
Yay or nay?
Ah!
I mean, I think you know that.
Yay!
I've eaten half of it.
We did it.
Yeah.
It has texture, it has moisture.
Yep.
Flavors.
And flavor.
And it's nice and flaky.
But also, look at this unique presentation on it, too.
It's also beautiful.
You can show off, too.
We're gonna put these micro-fave recipes.
It'll never fail you on our website.
Try it at home.
Up next, Tia's gonna reveal her micro-fave recipe for her magic mug cake.
Mug cake.
Takes less than three minutes, and it is Oz approved!
Stick around.
Wow!
That was so good!
Every Friday in February, it's Celebrity Superfan Takeover.
Will you come host a show with me?
Yes, I would be delighted.
I'm so excited to be here with Dr. Oz.
Oz's famous friends.
Morris is sticking around as my special co-host.
Are some of his biggest fans.
5, 4, 3, 2, 1, here we go!
Kathy Lee Gifford, Morris Chestnut, Tia Mowry, and Susan Lucci share the stage with their favorite doctor.
Are you kidding me?
Every Friday in February, only on Oz.
Sometimes you just get that urge to want something sweet and there is nothing easier than mug cakes.
I think we all know what time it is by now.
It's microwave time!
And we wait.
Oh, it smells so good!
We are back with my super co-host, Pia Mori, with that contagious laugh.
Now she's revealing her micro-fave mug cake that you can make in three minutes.
It is delicious.
Yes.
It's Oz approved!
Yay!
What is it?
So, this is my gluten-free lemon mug cake.
It's very delicious and it's very easy, like you just said.
These are the ingredients here.
Instead of using regular flour, I like to use almond flour.
See, it's Dr. Oz approved.
I love Oz.
I love it.
It's good.
We have egg.
We have to add the flavor to this.
We're gonna add some lemon zest and some lemon juice with some coconut oil, you know, salt and sugar.
There you have it.
All right, so walk us through.
We got three minutes to make this thing.
Yes, three minutes.
Okay, so we have our dry ingredients in this bowl.
And basically what we're gonna do, we're just gonna add all of our wet ingredients here.
So we're gonna add our egg.
We're gonna add our lemon zest, we're gonna add our lemon juice, and then we're gonna add our coconut oil, which I feel is Dr. Oz approved, right?
- I thought so, yes, yes. - And then that's all you're gonna do is just whisk, whisk, whisk, whisk, whisk, whisk, whisk.
And then you're gonna throw it.
Into the microwave for 90 seconds, right?
So there you go.
And then after those 90 seconds have gone by...
It'll look like this.
It'll look like this.
There you have it.
And then you can just top whatever you want on top of that.
You can put ice cream, you can put whipped cream.
But look at this, Dr. Oz.
You can add some mint on there with some orange and some lemon and...
There you go!
Look at that!
And then you just want to dive in and just...
I'll dive in this way.
Okay.
So, the thing about this, the coconut flour, the almond flour you mentioned, a lot more protein, less than carbs.
Yes.
It's one of the reasons I love it.
It cuts the carbs by a third and doubles the protein.
I mean, it's got everything you want to make it Oz approved, but does it taste acceptable?
This tastes delicious.
It tastes like sunshine.
It tastes like fresh.
If fresh had a taste, it's light.
Yes, very light.
It's like a sponge cake or pound cake.
But you know how difficult twins are, because you and your sister probably torture your parents?
Yeah.
Come on over here.
I have a special bite club made up of three tasters who are so challenging to please.
So, Jamie, describe the texture and the flavor.
I would say it's very light.
Light, sweet.
It has a lemon flavor.
It's delicious.
Thank you.
I love how you guys finished your sentences.
Of course, we have Jean and Joan.
Also, they're all J's here.
Nothing's easy on this show.
Would you guys make this at home?
Absolutely, and it's healthy.
It's so delicious.
Yeah, it tastes great.
And my children would love it.
I can see them speaking downstairs trying to make this.
Yeah, I love it.
So I approve of it.
Oh, yay!
Absolutely, I'll make it.
I think we should bring the recipe online.
God bless you all.
Thank you.
Thank you.
I love it.
I'm getting dizzy here.
Up next, the big three questions every woman should be asking herself right now.
It just may help unlock what's causing your pain.
This is a big deal.
All right, 10% of women are affected by it.
Tia says it actually helped change her life.
Stick around.
Okay.
It's delicious.
It's good, right?
It's good, right?
It's good.
Every Monday in February on "Osh." Cameras are everywhere.
And we're bringing you shocking videos.
The good, the bad, and the outrageous.
Every Monday in February on Oz.
My sister had to drive because I was in so much pain going home from school that I had to sit in the back seat and I remember just being, you know, balled up.
And crunched up because I was in so much pain.
I ended up calling my doctor and I said, you know, something's going on.
I'm just in a lot of pain.
This just doesn't seem normal.
She would just tell me, run it off, take a bath.
She would also tell me, put a heating pad on it.
But it just never felt right.
I was still in a lot of pain.
Wow.
Yeah, wow was right.
So I'm back with my special co-host, Tia Mori.
How many of you have felt like she just described?
With weird pain, crank cuts going up, doctors not sure what's going on, but they're not endorsing that what you're saying is real.
So we're gonna take the pain quiz that every woman needs right now.
And I want you, if you don't mind, to explain why you're so passionate about this.
And I thank you ahead of time for being very honest.
Yeah.
Well, you know, I'm very passionate about this mainly because I think it's important to note that when it comes to African-American women, whenever we are explaining our symptoms or whenever we're going through some sort of pain, we are not taken seriously by some practitioners.
So I just think it's very important that, you know, we become aware of what these symptoms are so that you get the right diagnosis and you become steadfast.
And trying to figure out what is going on.
And that's exactly what I did.
And I don't want anybody to have to go through what I went through.
So that's why it's really passionate.
This ailment in particular takes years to diagnose.
We'll give you all a quiz.
Get your clipboards out.
Everyone has clipboards.
Twins and not twins in the audience.
I went home, keep track as well.
It's three questions with yes or no.
Super straightforward.
First question.
Do you have chronic pain in your lower back or your pelvis?
Just yes or no.
You were just describing your pain in that little video piece.
I felt that The pain, both because you weren't heard, but also because you were suffering.
So describe the pain that you were having.
The pain was very, very excruciating.
I'm talking about, like, it felt like as if someone had taken a knife and was just kind of jabbing it, you know, in my stomach area.
So sharp and deep pain.
Very sharp and very deep.
Yeah.
So, again, pretty typical for this condition.
The breakdown, you know, is super simple.
Okay, next question.
Next question.
Do you have gastrointestinal problems like diarrhea, constipation, or bloating that especially flares during your period?
Yes or no?
And a third question.
This one's also simple.
Have you ever experienced very sharp abdominal cramps that stopped you from daily activities?
Yes or no?
And you actually had something like this happen to you.
Oh my gosh, yes.
I would go to the bathroom and I would literally just sit on the toilet for an hour and a half and I would feel relieved.
And then I would, I later asked my doctor, like, why was that?
And she said because it kind of relaxed the muscles.
But yeah, it was pretty intense.
All right, so tally up your answers, everybody.
Yeses or nos, right?
Here's how you grade it.
If you have one yes, just one, it could mean you have the same condition that Tia has been speaking about.
It took you three years to get a diagnosis.
Please save people having the same issue.
What is the root of your pain?
Endometriosis.
A lot more common.
Yeah, we see yeses up there.
People have it in the audience.
Yeah.
Come on over.
Let's make sure everyone understands what this is.
Because fundamentally, it's when the inner uterine lining, the part that actually when you have menstruation comes out from below, somehow it goes the wrong way.
You can put your head to a perfect line.
Oh wow, yes!
And the lining of the uterus is supposed to be expelled when you have your menstruation, right?
And for that reason, the uterus, which looks like this in a healthy woman.
We'll have to hear the ovaries on the side.
Go ahead and feel that.
Have you felt a uterus before?
No, I've never seen one in person like this.
Wow!
Never seen one in person.
I know that sounded weird, but wow, that's impressive.
This does so much.
So the inside of the uterus looks like that.
Wow!
And that lining can get on the ovaries, right?
There's the very bottom of that image.
See the green stuff?
Those are on top of the ovaries, the uterus, on top of the fallopian tubes themselves.
The bladder can get affected, which sometimes goes to the bathroom.
It can get on your intestines as well.
But there's one part, you can see the lungs up top?
It can go there too.
And there's no real cure.
So a lot of it is about working closely, as you have with your doctors.
What do they recommend?
What worked?
You know, first of all, I feel like what really worked was I started to change my diet.
I stayed away from foods that would exacerbate the condition.
Like what foods bothered it?
Dairy.
It would kind of exacerbate, you know, the symptoms that I had.
And when I started to stray away from that, I started to feel better.
But not only that, I would exercise, I would meditate, I would take my supplements, which is why actually it inspired me to come out with my own supplements.
Line of supplements called Answer.
And I just want to encourage women to, you know, do the same thing.
I didn't work alone.
I actually partnered with an amazing group of people.
They're Biosworts.
They are the leaders in wellness and the supplement industry.
And my goal is just basically to get women to meditate on the statement that self-care isn't selfish.
And not only that, thank you.
You're welcome.
Answer, the supplement line that I have, the tagline is, you are the answer, insinuating that you are the only one that can do that for yourself.
You're the world expert on your health.
You are, you are.
So I love the power of one.
I love that you take charge.
You shine a light for others to be able to follow you.
Aw, thank you.
So I've got a little surprise for you.
Oh, another surprise!
Yes, you're not alone.
This is a video from someone who says you've really played a massive role in your health training.
Oh my god, don't make me cry!
Take a look.
I started to have symptoms of endometriosis when I was 12 years old.
I didn't get diagnosed until I was 31 years old, so that was years of feeling alone, isolated and confused about what was going on and why I seemed to be the only one who was feeling this way.
So when I saw Tia speaking out about it, especially about being a Black woman with endometriosis, that reminded me that I wasn't alone and I wanted to share that feeling, so I started to share my story to remind people that we do deserve support and we deserve to see ourselves reflected in these stories.
Thank you, Tia.
That means a lot.
Everything that I do, I want to inspire and to encourage.
I was very vulnerable, you know, and I didn't know if I wanted to share my story.
But now I'm so happy that I did so.
That's awesome.
Sorry, I'm like a mush here.
It's very fulfilling to change people's lives.
And those little comments people make, I know mean a lot to you.
Yeah.
I think it's just an endorsement of what you're about, Tia.
Thank you.
Good for you.
Thank you so much.
The new science of binge-watching, is it healthy or not?
You got a twin test you don't want to miss.
Oh, sorry.
I did not expect it.
The deadline passed for the doomsday mother of two to bring her missing kids to authorities.
We speak to the reporter who tracked her down in Hawaii.
What is she hiding and where are her children?
Let me see what I can throw together.
whether I wasn't prepared for this.
I love these.
Pick one.
Really?
Yeah, go ahead.
How much?
Uh, well, this one is 18...
Free.
Yes, free.
Ooh, I am going to slay with this on the red carpet.
Well, there's only one thing left to do.
Twirl.
Of course.
And then post it on the gram.
Hashtag seedbycoco.
Hashtag get you some.
Hashtag yes, queen.
Yes.
Hashtag...
Hashtag okay.
I will totally binge-watch Tia Mori's hot new show.
It's called Family Reunion.
And what is it about?
You know, it's just about family.
It's full of laughter, it's full of heart, and it's something that the whole entire family can watch.
It's multi-generational.
It's available on Netflix, by the way.
Yes.
Which is where I spend a lot of time these days.
Because right now, I want to change gears and talk about binging.
When you're binging shows, if you're a binge-watcher, do you hit play or do you take a break?
That's the big question we're gonna try to answer today.
Which do you do?
Oh, binge all the way.
You're a binger?
Binger.
What do you binge on?
Stranger Things.
I love Stranger Things.
Does anybody love Stranger Things?
Family Reunion.
There's a new show called The Witcher on Netflix.
All right.
There's brand new signs about hitting play over and over and over again, revealing the results of our very own test with binge-watching twins.
Who else?
All right, let's go walk over here.
Okay.
Now, here's the thing.
These two sisters have decided to participate in this.
Okay.
It's a big deal, right?
Of all the reboots I would do, Sister, Sister, I would do.
Is that gonna be a beer boot?
I don't know.
Oh, come on now.
I know, you know, everybody wants us to do it.
We'll see.
What does that mean, we'll see?
Give me the answer.
I know, I don't wanna let anybody down.
I've got twins, Felissa and Meredith.
Your parents were cruel.
It should've been Felissa and Melissa, but it's Felissa and Meredith.
Social experiment, we conducted a series of tests to find out what happens to our bodies when we watch episode after episode of our favorite shows.
The big question, of course, is binge-watching TV really that bad for you?
All right, let's get to our binge-watching experiment.
We looked at two things.
We looked at Felisa's sleep score to find out how the light from the screen really affects your body.
And we looked at Meredith's heart rate to see if she actually was relaxed or hyped up by what she was watching.
And of course, this often happens late at night.
We had you binge-watch four hours.
I hope you enjoyed the homework.
Oh, sure.
The best kinds.
So the question that I have, what did you guys watch?
What was the show?
I've been to watch Mad Men.
That's what I like.
Okay.
That's a great show.
I like it, yeah.
As well.
Of course, twins.
They watch the same show.
We gotta be able to talk about it.
Are you ready for your results?
Lead the way, Tia.
Okay, let's do it.
Now, we use the Sleep Score app to measure sleep.
These are very accurate scores, and we got it for Felisa.
And your score, are you ready for this?
Take it away.
Yes, I am so ready.
Okay, so the baseline is 81 for Felisa, and after binge-watching, 83. No difference.
No difference.
Did you feel like you slept well after binge-watching?
Yeah.
No problems.
No problems.
She's an iron woman.
Yeah, iron.
Next, Meredith's heart rate.
We're gonna see if you're excitable if it made much of a difference.
And your heart rate baseline was 88. It actually went down to 81. Was it relaxing to you?
Yeah, I mean, it's my time to, like, chill out a little bit.
So I got this.
I actually looked as much as I could into this.
It turns out that it seems that binge-watching is just fine in moderation, everybody.
It's escapism, right?
It's escapism, sure.
It connects you.
Could be good to do stress.
But you've heard, of course, that sitting and lying down is the new...
Smoking.
You've heard that, right?
So I want you to get them every once in a while just for that part of your body.
But I gotta say, the trade-off of the extra late in your eyes and exciting you at night doesn't seem to be borne out as long as you give yourself a few minutes afterwards for some basic sleep hygiene.
I'm very proud of you, Felisa and Meredith.
Yeah, thank you.
Up next, she's gonna ask her biggest health question of all.
What does science say about twins' secret sense?
I'm very excited to hear this.
Stick around.
Let's go back.
You're five years of age.
What happened?
That's when the drugs were introduced to me.
How so?
What do you mean, how so?
My normal was insanity.
That's coming up on Monday.
We're back with Theomari, who's been co-hosting the whole show with me.
Thank you very much for being here.
Oh my gosh, I'm having a blast.
So, you get to ask any question you want.
Take it away.
Okay, I've been thinking about this all day, and I've been practicing on it, okay?
What does science say about twins' secret sense?
Hmm.
Any of the twins here have questions about that, too?
You all think there's a separate sense you guys had to bond you?
Oh, yes.
Absolutely.
They say it at the same time.
Please.
Was that rehearsed?
Oh, my goodness.
What kind of secret twin senses do you have with Tamara?
Well, we both had a nightmare at the same time, and we woke up, right?
And we looked into each other's eyes.
Her dream was...
Finished my dream and my dream was the beginning to her dream.
So basically it was like when we put it together, it was like a whole story.
And then when we, I always know when she's pregnant because whatever she's craving, I will start eating.
So one time she was pregnant with Aiden and I was eating nachos.
I don't eat nachos.
And then she said that she was craving nachos.
Oh, God.
So we're going to play a middle game to see how strong the bond is between twins, okay?
You have flashcards there, right?
Everyone's going to write down a word, right?
But don't wait, wait.
I'm going to give you a clue.
You're going to write down, don't cheat.
I actually had Tamara do this, so you're in the game as well.
Okay.
The first word that pops into your mind, don't overthink it, right?
So whatever the category is, first word, write it down.
We're going to see how many of the many, many twin pairs here match up.
You all ready to do this?
Yeah.
Okay.
The word is...
Animal.
Write down an animal.
You've got a couple seconds to write it down.
Okay.
Are you ready, everybody?
Flip your cards around.
Oh, my goodness.
Dog, dog, dog.
Cat, cat.
Dog, dog.
Gosh, look at this.
Are you serious?
Oh, my gosh.
I hope my sister got this right.
Dog, dog.
Oh, come on.
There's no way.
There's one.
What's that?
Peacock.
There's one person.
One per...
Dog.
Come on.
Molly's the dog.
There are two Mollys, the dog's name.
That's 100% though.
Cavaliers type of dog.
I'm shocked.
Watch Tamera says cat.
She put dog.
Tamera, what did Tamera write?
Let's see this.
Oh gosh, please.
What did Tamera say?
I put dog.
Milano.
Wait, but that's a dog!
That's her dog!
That counts!
That's her dog's name!
It counts!
Oh, my gosh!
I am really flabbergasted!
Well, to all the twins who all pick dogs and cats or dogs and cats names, God bless you.
