NXR Podcast - DAILY TRUTH - This Is The #1 Biblical Doctrine That Big Eva Hates! Aired: 2023-03-13 Duration: 09:18 === Obedience Brings Life (07:28) === [00:00:00] All right, listen, guys, I get it. [00:00:02] Many of you are unable to financially support this ministry because you're spending your cash and your lives on raising young children in the fear and admonition of the Lord. [00:00:10] Praise God for you and that endeavor. [00:00:13] However, algorithms are a thing, shadow banning sadly is a thing. [00:00:18] And one major way that you can help to expand the reach and effectiveness of this ministry that doesn't cost you a dime is by spending just a few moments leaving us a five star review. [00:00:31] Also, perhaps even more effective than that, you can share our podcast with a friend. [00:00:36] We hope you'll take the time to do so. [00:00:38] Thank you so much. [00:00:39] God bless. [00:00:40] Jesus said, Man cannot live on bread alone, but from every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. [00:00:48] You're listening to Daily Truth. [00:00:52] The law of God brings life. [00:00:56] The law of God does not eternally save the soul. [00:01:00] No man will be saved by works as done unto the law. [00:01:04] As the Apostle Paul says in the book of Romans. [00:01:07] But the law of God, in obedience to the law, it does bring life. [00:01:13] The scripture speaks of the law of God as that which revives the soul. [00:01:18] And that really throws a wrench into the gears of a lot of evangelicals today. [00:01:26] They can't even quote scripture on that point without blushing, because it seems to contradict the doctrines of grace. [00:01:37] To say that God's moral standard and that obeying and observing God's moral standard would have a positive and spiritual effect on a person, that it would even revive the soul, seems like heresy, seems like legalism, or it seems like a quote from the Bible. [00:02:05] The law of God does revive the soul, it does not save the soul. [00:02:11] Only the perfect, finished obedience of Christ, which is received by grace through faith alone, saves the soul. [00:02:19] But hearing the law of God through faith and obeying the law of God by grace leads towards a life of abundance. [00:02:31] It leads towards a life, not just the life to come, but here and now, of peace that surpasses all understanding. [00:02:41] Joy unspeakable, fullness of joy in his presence. [00:02:48] The law of God and obedience to it by grace through faith in Christ, it revives the soul. [00:02:55] It brings back the weary wanderer into a place of structure, security, safety, and blessing. [00:03:06] One principle, simple as it may be, it has been misconstrued, misinterpreted. [00:03:13] Twisted and tweaked a thousand times over by the evangelical church. [00:03:18] The principle is this obedience brings blessing. [00:03:23] It does. [00:03:25] And that is not the prosperity gospel. [00:03:28] The prosperity gospel does not teach that obedience brings blessing. [00:03:32] The prosperity gospel says that you can put faith in your faith rather than faith in Christ. [00:03:39] The prosperity gospel cares nothing for obedience. [00:03:42] The prosperity gospel is the equivalent of saying rather than working hard and practicing integrity and being faithful in all of life to the commands of God, the prosperity gospel says that you can purchase a lottery ticket, and if you believe hard enough, you're guaranteed to win. [00:04:00] That's not obedience. [00:04:02] The prosperity gospel, which is a heresy and has led millions of souls to hell, it is no trifling matter. [00:04:12] But the prosperity gospel is not a doctrine of obedience bringing blessing. [00:04:18] It is a doctrine that says that you don't have to obey, that you can simply take your red ruby slippers and tap them together three times and say, There's no place like a million dollars, and it'll be granted to you. [00:04:32] It's the power of positivity, it's believing in yourself, it's faith in your faith. [00:04:37] None of that is the gospel. [00:04:39] However, also, none of that is God's law. [00:04:43] The prosperity gospel is not choosing. [00:04:46] Obedience to the commands of God over the gospel, it's choosing neither. [00:04:51] The prosperity gospel is a twisting and a perversion of both the gospel and God's law. [00:04:58] So, the solution to certain heresies, such as the prosperity gospel, is not to be lawless. [00:05:05] It is not to abandon the very basic biblical principle that there is an undeniable correlation between obedience and blessing. [00:05:14] Obedience and blessing is not how we veer off into the prosperity gospel. [00:05:19] Obedience bringing blessing is undeniable. [00:05:23] It is undeniable. [00:05:26] It is heresy, the heresy of legalism, to say that obedience brings salvation, namely our obedience bringing salvation. [00:05:35] But obedience does bring blessing, even for the pagan, even for the reprobate, for the non elect, if they simply conform, at least in measure, outwardly to the standards of God, that they live. [00:05:50] Outwardly, in some measure of obedience to God's universal standard set forth in His law, they will have a better life. [00:05:58] Still go to hell apart from faith in Jesus, but temporally, in this life, here and now, things will go better with them. [00:06:06] Why? [00:06:07] Because God will not be mocked. [00:06:10] A man will reap what he sows. [00:06:13] And the principle, irrevocable principle, of sowing and reaping, God has baked into the very fabric of the world in which He has made. [00:06:24] And whether we reject God or submit to God, we have no choice but to live in God's world. [00:06:30] And because we live in God's world, those who live according to God's rules will experience a better life. [00:06:38] So God's law matters. [00:06:40] It reveals to us our need for a Savior in the first sense. [00:06:44] But beyond that, the law of God also functions as a compass, a guide, a lamp, a light that shows us where to go, not to merit God's favor, but as a response of gratitude for the free favor we have in Christ already. [00:07:00] And as we seek to obey God's law with joy, not only is there benefit and heavenly eternal rewards, which I do believe the Bible speaks to plainly, but there is also tangible and practical benefits temporally here and now. [00:07:17] So, our church, Covenant Bible Church, we not only acknowledge the law of God through gritted teeth, but we delight in the law of God. === Affording the Good (01:50) === [00:07:28] Not only is that which is morally right, but that which is right. [00:07:32] The good, that which brings benefit and prosperity to our lives here and now. [00:07:41] Can I be frank with you for just a second, right here at the end? [00:07:44] Look, some of you guys, you're financially supporting this ministry, and from the bottom of my heart, I say thank you. [00:07:51] I cannot thank you enough. [00:07:54] However, some of you, you just, you can't afford it. [00:07:57] In fact, some of you, you shouldn't afford it. [00:08:00] Let's be honest. [00:08:02] I mean, we're living in Joe Biden's ridiculous economy. [00:08:05] Our nation is. [00:08:07] And our totalitarian political elites lost their minds over the last three years due to COVID. [00:08:15] We have written checks that we simply cannot cash. [00:08:19] It doesn't matter if people change the definition of a recession. [00:08:23] We are living in a recession right now, regardless. [00:08:27] Some of you are struggling to afford a carton of eggs at the grocery store. [00:08:32] You cannot support financially this ministry at this time, nor should you. [00:08:38] But you could still help us tremendously. [00:08:41] I am asking you, please, if you're willing to do so, take one minute of your time.
