NXR Podcast - DAILY TRUTH - What Is The Church’s Obligation To The Poor? Aired: 2023-02-21 Duration: 07:01 === Praise God for Your Endeavor (07:01) === [00:00:00] All right, listen, guys, I get it. [00:00:02] Many of you are unable to financially support this ministry because you're spending your cash and your lives on raising young children in the fear and admonition of the Lord. [00:00:10] Praise God for you and that endeavor. [00:00:13] However, algorithms are a thing, shadow banning sadly is a thing. [00:00:18] And one major way that you can help to expand the reach and effectiveness of this ministry that doesn't cost you a dime is by spending just a few moments leaving us a five star review. [00:00:31] Also, perhaps even more effective than that, you can share our podcast with a friend. [00:00:36] We hope you'll take the time to do so. [00:00:38] Thank you so much. [00:00:39] God bless. [00:00:42] Jesus said, Man cannot live on bread alone, but from every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. [00:00:48] You're listening to Daily Truth. [00:00:52] Think of Matthew, chapter 25, verse 34 through 40. [00:00:58] It's a common text that many of you are probably familiar with. [00:01:01] But there's a phrase in this text that many Christians often gloss over. [00:01:06] It says, The king will say to those on his right, This is right after Jesus told a parable of separating the sheep from the goats, speaking of the final day of judgment. [00:01:19] The king will then say to those on his right, Come, you are blessed of my father. [00:01:24] Take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. [00:01:30] For I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat. [00:01:34] I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink. [00:01:37] I was a stranger and you invited me in. [00:01:40] I needed clothes and you clothed me. [00:01:43] I was sick and you looked after me. [00:01:46] I was in prison and you came to visit me. [00:01:49] Then the righteous will answer him, Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you? [00:01:56] When did we see you thirsty and give you something to drink? [00:02:00] When did we see you a stranger and invite you in or needing clothes and clothe you? [00:02:07] When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you? [00:02:12] The king will reply Truly, I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me. [00:02:28] How often the evangelical church has taken the least of these out of context. [00:02:36] In a nutshell, this is what Big Eva does. [00:02:38] I'll give you their playbook. [00:02:39] It's pretty simple, you probably know. [00:02:43] Big Eva says, We're going to milk the faithful to benefit the faithless. [00:02:50] We're going to break the backs of the faithful to benefit the faithless. [00:02:57] And that's it. [00:02:58] That's the play. [00:02:59] Free car wash, food drive, hallelujah party for Halloween, trunk or treat, whatever it is. [00:03:10] But what's the goal? [00:03:11] The goal is always to serve the unbeliever. [00:03:15] It's always for the unbeliever. [00:03:18] Do you know what Paul says in 1 Timothy chapter 5? [00:03:21] He says, when it comes to the church and its ministry and moral obligation, because it is obligated under God to serve the poor, there's actually a criteria. [00:03:33] It's not just a blank canvas for your creative license and freedom. [00:03:36] You don't get to define love. [00:03:39] Empathy has no place in Christian faith, sympathy does, compassion does not. [00:03:49] The world is being destroyed right now in the name of empathy. [00:03:55] You need to be aware of that. [00:03:59] No, what the scripture teaches, the apostle Paul, 1 Timothy chapter 5, writing to a young man who is a pastor in a church, he gives criteria and guidelines for helping the helpless. [00:04:12] He talks about helping the widow. [00:04:16] Right there, we already have an assumed criteria because we're starting with 24 year old, single, able bodied young men who just don't want to work a job, right? [00:04:29] No. [00:04:31] Do you know what help that man gets? [00:04:34] Starvation. [00:04:35] That's the help he gets. [00:04:37] That's the help he needs. [00:04:39] That's the help that loves him and pleases God. [00:04:44] Yes, the Bible commands that. [00:04:46] If any man will not work, let him not eat. [00:04:51] And when we override that, whether we do it individually in the name of Christian love, but with bad theology and interpretation of Scripture, or whether we do it federally in the civil sphere, Through laws and legislation, taking people's money at gunpoint, aka taxes, and then creating a welfare system that only incentivizes poverty and makes it worse. [00:05:18] In either case, the point is, it is unbiblical. [00:05:22] It is unbiblical. [00:05:24] Can I be frank with you for just a second, right here at the end? [00:05:27] Look, some of you guys, you're financially supporting this ministry, and from the bottom of my heart, I say thank you. [00:05:33] I cannot thank you enough. [00:05:36] However, some of you, you just can't afford it. [00:05:40] In fact, some of you, you shouldn't afford it. [00:05:43] Let's be honest. [00:05:44] I mean, we're living in Joe Biden's ridiculous economy. [00:05:48] Our nation and our totalitarian political elites lost their minds over the last three years due to COVID. [00:05:57] We have written checks that we simply cannot cash. [00:06:01] It doesn't matter if people change the definition of a recession. [00:06:05] We are living in a recession right now, regardless. [00:06:10] Some of you are struggling to afford a carton of eggs at the grocery store. [00:06:15] You cannot support financially this ministry at this time, nor should you, but you could still help us tremendously. [00:06:23] I am asking you, please, if you're willing to do so, take one minute of your time. [00:06:29] Leave us a five star review on your favorite podcast platform iTunes, Spotify, whatever that might be. [00:06:37] This is the way the system works. [00:06:39] We want to be innocent as doves, but shrewd as vipers. [00:06:43] We need to be strategic. [00:06:45] You leave us a five star review, and our podcast shows up for more people. [00:06:50] And the Word of God and courageous theology applied in practical ways to every realm of life gets out there. [00:06:58] Help us get it out there. [00:07:00] Thanks for tuning in.
