[00:00:52]  God builds others up in his sovereignty with his scalpel, with the tool of suffering.
[00:01:02]  But if we think for a moment that the only tool that God has at his disposal for our sanctification, our building up, is suffering, then we have actually a perverse and warped view of our Heavenly Father.
[00:01:19]  God actually builds us up not exclusively by suffering, but through both suffering and blessing.
[00:01:31]  It's not just God is sanctifying me when I suffer.
[00:01:34]  And he has, in some sense, abandoned me when I prosper.
[00:01:40]  That is not biblical theology.
[00:01:42]  God, as a good father, just as you do with your children, he builds us up through the rod and with the blessing, suffering and blessing.
[00:02:00]  And so, too, if we are to build others up, And the way that God sanctifies, the way that God builds us up, we too, in the realm of our speech, will not only utilize correction and come to Jesus conversations where we point out fault, we will also praise, affirm,
[00:02:27]  appreciate those areas in which someone is, by God's grace, thriving and growing, succeeding.
[00:02:37]  We use both.
