[00:00:52]  Does not familiarity breed contempt?
[00:00:54]  Well, that's not a Bible verse.
[00:00:55]  Well, it kind of is.
[00:00:56]  That's literally what Jesus says.
[00:00:58]  A prophet's without honor in his hometown, the place where people are familiar with him.
[00:01:04]  So, that old adage, familiarity breeds contempt, I'm going to stand by that one because I see it in Scripture.
[00:01:11]  So, whether it's your youth, whether it's familiarity, whatever it is, we all have hearers.
[00:01:17]  Let me say this we should have hearers because we should be preachers.
[00:01:23]  And both the man and the message, the right message and the righteous man, right?
[00:01:29]  Sound doctrine and a godly life, setting an example, both by our message and our character, being right and being righteous.
[00:01:37]  We should be presenting the truth of God, both His law and His gospel.
[00:01:44]  And we all have hearers.
[00:01:46]  Maybe not in very uncomfortable chairs on a Sunday morning, but whether it be family members, friends, co workers, neighbors, we all have hearers.
[00:01:56]  And some of them will seek to dismiss us wrongfully.
[00:02:00]  And you can fill in the blank.
[00:02:02]  Familiarity, a young age, whatever it might be.
[00:02:07]  What do you do?
[00:02:09]  Don't allow.
[00:02:09]  That's what you do.
[00:02:12]  Don't be bothered by it, certainly.
[00:02:13]  I'm not saying less than that.
[00:02:16]  That's the minimum bottom line.
[00:02:17]  Don't be bitter.
[00:02:21]  Don't be vindictive.
[00:02:25]  Don't be angry.
[00:02:27]  Of course, that.
[00:02:29]  I'm not saying less than that.
[00:02:30]  The Word of God, I believe, is saying more than that.
[00:02:32]  Don't be bothered, but also don't allow it.
[00:02:37]  How do you not allow it?
[00:02:38]  Coercion?
[00:02:38]  You take them and you just put their arm and twist it behind their back and say, Respect me.
[00:02:43]  No.
[00:02:44]  No, you prove them wrong.
[00:02:47]  The right message and the right life.
[00:02:49]  The right message and the right life.
[00:02:51]  Sound doctrine, set an example.
