NXR Podcast - DAILY TRUTH - How Does God Speak? Aired: 2022-12-22 Duration: 04:25 === When God Speaks Infallibly (04:25) === [00:00:00] All right, listen, guys, I get it. [00:00:01] Many of you are unable to financially support this ministry because you're spending your cash and your lives on raising young children in the fear and admonition of the Lord. [00:00:10] Praise God for you and that endeavor. [00:00:13] However, algorithms are a thing. [00:00:16] Shadow banning, sadly, is a thing. [00:00:18] And one major way that you can help to expand the reach and effectiveness of this ministry that doesn't cost you a dime is by spending just a few moments leaving us a five star review. [00:00:31] Also, perhaps even more effective than that, you can share our podcast with a friend. [00:00:36] We hope you'll take the time to do so. [00:00:38] Thank you so much. [00:00:39] God bless. [00:00:42] Jesus said, Man cannot live on bread alone, but from every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. [00:00:47] You're listening to Daily Truth. [00:00:52] It's important that we understand that when God speaks, please, please don't misunderstand this. [00:01:00] When God speaks, he only speaks one way. [00:01:05] When God speaks, he speaks fully authoritatively and fully infallibly. [00:01:15] Meaning, God, when he speaks, it is always infallible without error and it is always authoritative. [00:01:27] God never suggests. [00:01:30] So we cannot look to Scripture, different portions of Scripture, and say that God is. [00:01:37] Screaming here and whispering there. [00:01:40] You've heard me say this. [00:01:41] Let me explain what I mean by that. [00:01:44] When God speaks, He speaks infallibly. [00:01:46] When God speaks, He speaks authoritatively. [00:01:50] Meaning there is never any error, any fault on the part of God when He speaks. [00:01:57] And there's never the option of taking or leaving it. [00:02:03] It's authoritative. [00:02:06] So when we say that there are portions of the scripture that scream and others that whisper, We're using that language simply to describe the historic doctrine of the perspicuity of Scripture, saying not that God sometimes screams and God sometimes whispers, but because of the finitude and fallenness of man, we sometimes struggle to interpret some passages of Scripture, [00:02:33] whereas other passages may be more easily discerned. [00:02:37] Does that make sense? [00:02:39] That's what we're saying. [00:02:40] We're not saying that God sometimes speaks authoritatively and sometimes doesn't. [00:02:45] And that God most of the time speaks infallibly, and then sometimes there's a little bit of error. [00:02:52] That would be blasphemy. [00:02:54] No, God speaks authoritatively and He speaks infallibly. [00:02:57] But we, as we listen to God's word, we who are fallen, we who are finite, will struggle to discern exactly what is being said. [00:03:09] There are some things that are abundantly clear in Scripture. [00:03:16] By God's grace, fortunately for us, One of those things is the way to salvation. [00:03:22] But there are other things that are less clear. [00:03:25] And so that might also be an example of where we perhaps would counsel. [00:03:30] Not saying that God is counseling in His Word, God is commanding something in His Word. [00:03:37] But because we are unsure of exactly what that command is, and perhaps the church, the larger church, throughout church history has disagreed, been at odds with one another over this particular command, we're going to. [00:03:53] We're going to present it more charitably. [00:03:58] But that doesn't mean that God is whispering. [00:04:01] It means God said something that we don't quite get because of our sin and because of our finitude, and so we are whispering. [00:04:08] Thanks so much for listening. [00:04:10] But, real quick, before you go, do us a small favor, take a moment, and leave us a five star review if you enjoyed the show.
