NXR Podcast - DAILY TRUTH - Is Confidence A Christian Trait? Aired: 2022-11-02 Duration: 07:47 === Confident Words, Dead Wrong (07:21) === [00:00:00] Hey guys, real quick before we get started, I have a small request. [00:00:03] If you've been blessed by our content and you like this show, would you take just a brief moment and leave us a five star review? [00:00:09] This is quite possibly the most effective thing that you can do to ensure that this content gets out to as many people as possible. [00:00:17] Thanks. [00:00:20] Jesus said, Man cannot live on bread alone, but from every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. [00:00:25] You're listening to Daily Truth. [00:00:30] Now, according to verse four, These different doctrines were the product of fruitless speculations about myths and endless genealogies. [00:00:40] These men portrayed themselves as knowledgeable in order to accumulate a following, but their knowledge was nothing more than mere foolishness. [00:00:52] The apostle refers to their teaching as speculation in verse 4, but then goes on to say that they make confident assertions at the end of verse 7. [00:01:05] It is quite possible, brothers and sisters, to sound biblical and to speak confidently, but to actually be dead wrong. [00:01:19] We must exercise caution with those who display incredible confidence regarding their own extra biblical speculations, especially, and notice the hypocrisy, but it is an epidemic. [00:01:36] It is uncanny how these two things always seem to come together. [00:01:41] Two P's in a PA, an unstoppable correlation, if you will. [00:01:48] Those who display incredible confidence regarding their speculations, that is, those peripheral ideas, those different doctrines, those truths on the margins, that there is much debate whether or not they're in fact true at all. [00:02:08] Those who are so confident. [00:02:10] In their assertions about peripheral speculative myths and genealogies, those very same people almost always seem to be found guilty of regularly condemning confidence in others who are actually addressing matters of clear biblical doctrine. [00:02:36] Have you noticed that? [00:02:37] I've noticed that my whole life. [00:02:41] I've noticed people confident. [00:02:44] About the Nephilim, and then condemning my confidence when I'm literally just preaching on salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. [00:02:56] People confident about their far fetched speculations about end times and eschatology, but immediately these same people seem to be the first ones to correct. [00:03:18] Confidence in others, even when others are confidently preaching primary doctrine. [00:03:26] So, somebody's confident about Calvinism, the sovereignty of God in election. [00:03:35] And this person over here is condemning them, saying, Your confidence is arrogance. [00:03:42] And then within 30 minutes, that person begins to make confident assertions. [00:03:48] About the end time, which Jesus specifically says no one knows the day or the hour. [00:03:55] Ever experienced that? [00:03:57] It's uncanny. [00:03:59] It is uncanny. [00:04:00] The person who makes confident assertions about truths on the margins, aka speculations, is the same person who is the first to show up to condemn confidence in others when they're preaching things that are biblically sound and clear. [00:04:22] This is a mark of a false teacher or perhaps. [00:04:27] An erring brother. [00:04:30] You should have this in your arsenal as a measuring tool, as a method of discernment, so that you might recognize and not be deceived. [00:04:44] I always find it hypocritical. [00:04:48] Ironic is the charitable term, hypocritical is the more accurate and truthful term. [00:04:53] I always find it to be incredibly hypocritical when people are with the 11th commandment. [00:04:59] Here's the irony confident that Christians shouldn't be confident. [00:05:06] They dogmatically teach against dogmatism. [00:05:10] They are certain that a person should never be certain. [00:05:16] This is the American Evangelical Church. [00:05:20] This is sweetheart Christianity. [00:05:24] And this is the pool that you swim in. [00:05:28] In the same way that the frog doesn't realize that the pot is slowly boiling. [00:05:34] So, too, we must recognize that we have been indoctrinated in the culture of American Christianity. [00:05:44] Me telling you this, you immediately, I have no doubt, will have some sense of this inward aversion to what I'm saying. [00:05:53] That can't be true. [00:05:56] Joel, you must be being harsh. [00:06:02] That doesn't add up. [00:06:03] Why? [00:06:04] Because right now I'm trying to tell you about water, and you're a fish. [00:06:10] What's water? [00:06:13] You've been swimming it your whole life. [00:06:15] You grew up in the church. [00:06:19] You weren't taught in Sunday school that you should stand outside of abortion clinics and try to save children from being murdered. [00:06:26] You were taught that you should be nice. [00:06:28] And if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. [00:06:34] And that even though somebody might be doing something that, according to the word of God, is atrocious, Your correction of their atrocious actions is more atrocious than the atrocity they've committed themselves. [00:06:46] Oh, hi, I didn't see you there. [00:06:48] Thanks for sticking around. [00:06:49] I've got an important announcement to make.
