NXR Podcast - DAILY TRUTH - Excommunicating Aired: 2022-10-21 Duration: 05:46 === Choosing Your Church Leaders (04:44) === [00:00:00] Hey guys, real quick before we get started, I have a small request. [00:00:03] If you've been blessed by our content and you like this show, would you take just a brief moment and leave us a five star review? [00:00:09] This is quite possibly the most effective thing that you can do to ensure that this content gets out to as many people as possible. [00:00:17] Thanks. [00:00:20] Jesus said, Man cannot live on bread alone, but from every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. [00:00:25] You're listening to Daily Truth. [00:00:30] Every church kicks people out. [00:00:32] Every church is going to have disgruntled people who get mad at the leaders, and then the leaders are going to have to do something about it. [00:00:40] And if they can't win them over and get them to stop gossiping and causing divisions, all those kinds of things, then the leaders are going to somehow remove them. [00:00:50] So the question is are they going to remove them biblically, where they get due justice according to Jesus, or are they going to remove them the way that a casino removed somebody for counting cards? [00:01:02] Right? [00:01:03] I mean, churches, they're doing it one of two ways. [00:01:04] They're doing it congregationally, according to the Bible, or they're taking them in the pastor's office, breaking their kneecaps, and you never see them again. [00:01:12] Now, not literally, but that happens. [00:01:14] Right? [00:01:15] Six months go by, and you're like, where's so and so been? [00:01:18] You never hear from them again? [00:01:21] I mean, I've heard horror stories of people being threatened. [00:01:23] If you talk to members about what we said to you or blah, blah, blah, and they'll never send an email because they don't want there to be any record because they're shady. [00:01:32] Look, every church is removing people. [00:01:33] So don't let that scare you. [00:01:34] This church removes people. [00:01:36] We've only done it once. [00:01:40] So don't be afraid to excommunicate. [00:01:42] Look, there are commands from Jesus. [00:01:43] We have to obey him. [00:01:44] And what Jesus commands is good. [00:01:46] His law is not arbitrary. [00:01:47] What he commands is not just the right thing, it's also the good thing. [00:01:50] It's the thing that preserves life and health and peace and joy and unity. [00:01:55] And you got to do it. [00:01:56] And here's the thing it's not even like we're saying we're going to do it because we're going to obey. [00:01:59] Everyone's doing it. [00:01:59] Even the disobedient guys are still doing it, they're just doing it disobediently. [00:02:04] So if everyone's going to do it, why not be a part of a church that does it rightly? [00:02:09] Submission. [00:02:10] You get to choose who your leaders are. [00:02:11] If you're a part of a good biblical congregational church, you get to keep choosing who your leaders are. [00:02:16] You have authority. [00:02:18] Obey your leaders. [00:02:20] Now, again, you might say, My attendance is enough for me to be able to discern who my leaders are. [00:02:24] I've been attending the response church for the last four months. [00:02:27] I'm not a member, but I attend somewhat frequently. [00:02:30] I come, you know, two or three times a month. [00:02:31] Maybe you come four for four, which, if that's the case, kudos. [00:02:35] You're beating the vast majority of our members. [00:02:36] You know, that, I mean, four for four is pretty good. [00:02:39] But even then, you're able to say, Well, I'm coming, and by my mere attendance, without ever becoming a formal church member, I am able to look to you, Chole, and say, You are my leader. [00:02:49] So I'm able to discern who my leaders are. [00:02:52] I can look at you, and I can look at your website and see who the other elders are. [00:02:55] You guys are my leaders. [00:02:56] So I'm able to obey my leaders without becoming a formal church member, simply by attending. [00:03:00] Well, that's the counter. [00:03:02] Here's the counter counter. [00:03:04] No, you can't, on two accounts, all right? [00:03:06] Number one, the reason why that doesn't work is because you're saying, Well, I'm able to discern who my leaders are just by attending. [00:03:12] And therefore, I'm able to obey them. [00:03:14] Well, if you're attending this church, you don't want to be a member, but you're attending this church and you're saying, Joel, I have deemed that you are my leader. [00:03:22] And so I'm able to see you and obey you without becoming a member. [00:03:26] I'm telling you right now to become a member, so you're disobeying. [00:03:30] See how that works? [00:03:32] So it just doesn't work out for you. [00:03:34] You're not obeying your leader. [00:03:35] So you're saying, I'm attending the church and I'm seeing you're my leader. [00:03:38] And I'm saying, okay, great, obey me. [00:03:40] I'm telling you to become a member of the church by biblical standards. [00:03:44] And you're saying, no. [00:03:46] Then you're not obeying your leaders. [00:03:47] Now, and you may say, all right, so here's another counter. [00:03:49] Well, then I'll just find basically what I mean, you won't call it this because you're going to have to justify, self justify, but what it's actually going to be is I'm just going to have to find a more compromised church. [00:03:59] I'm going to have to find a church that's still good and still conservative and still biblical, but a little less biblical, right? [00:04:05] Where the leaders there won't command me to become a member. [00:04:08] That way, I won't be found when I refuse to become a member disobedient. [00:04:12] So I can still go to that church now, detect them by my attendance that they are my leaders, and I just got to find leaders who won't ever love me enough to tell me to become a member in the church for my benefit, for my good. [00:04:22] That way, I'll never be found to be rebelling and disobeying those leaders. [00:04:25] And you could go that route. [00:04:27] I'm just playing it out for you because you're going to be tempted. [00:04:30] To use better language, like much more charitable language than the language I just used. [00:04:33] So I just want to use the very uncharitable language to call it what it actually is so that hopefully your conscience would be bound and you'd be like, Yeah, I shouldn't do that. [00:04:40] Because you shouldn't. [00:04:42] Don't do that. === Bonus Speaker Dale Partridge (01:00) === [00:04:45] Oh, hi. [00:04:45] I didn't see you there. [00:04:46] Thanks for sticking around.
