NXR Podcast - QUESTIONS - Can Christians Use Birth Control? Aired: 2022-07-21 Duration: 15:52 === Deception in the Medical Realm (03:50) === [00:00:00] Hey guys, real quick before we get started, I have a small request. [00:00:03] If you've been blessed by our content and you like this show, would you take just a brief moment and leave us a five star review? [00:00:09] This is quite possibly the most effective thing that you can do to ensure that this content gets out to as many people as possible. [00:00:17] Thanks. [00:00:21] What is your Christian opinion? [00:00:23] All I have is Christian opinions, Katie. [00:00:26] I'm a Christian. [00:00:27] They're not all right, but all right. [00:00:28] What is your Christian opinion on birth control? [00:00:31] Not the morning after pill. [00:00:34] But the daily pills, right? [00:00:35] So, what is it? [00:00:38] The hormonal birth control pill. [00:00:40] Hormonal birth control pill or a depot shot. [00:00:44] You could add in there. [00:00:46] I, oh gosh, IUD. [00:00:48] I always get it confused. [00:00:49] IED is a bomb planted in the ground that explodes. [00:00:53] Quite different, but not that different than an IED, which is a bomb implanted in a woman's arm that explodes a child. [00:01:00] So, that being said, that already gives you a little bit of my opinion. [00:01:03] So, what's my opinion on. [00:01:05] So, you're saying, Katie, you're saying, obviously, the birth. [00:01:07] You know, the morning after pill is abortive by nature. [00:01:11] And not just the nature of what the pill does, but the intent of the one who takes it, right? [00:01:15] You're taking it with the intention of, if I do have life in my womb, I want to kill it, right? [00:01:21] So you're absolutely right about that. [00:01:23] Good job, Katie, for pinpointing that because that's very clear. [00:01:28] What I would say, though, about, you know, let's just, we'll just focus on the birth hormonal pill because we'll make an argument from the lesser to the greater, right? [00:01:35] So if I can argue against using the pill, the daily pill, For birth control, then certainly you can't do the IUD or the depot shot or whatever. [00:01:45] So I would say, no, you can't do the pill. [00:01:48] My wife and I, before we knew these things, before we had researched these things or heard any teaching on these things, I never heard pastors talk about it, I never heard it preached from the pulpit or anything like that. [00:01:59] Our first, it wasn't long, but about two, three months of marriage, my wife was taking the pill. [00:02:06] And then we came to this conviction. [00:02:07] We became aware of what we were doing and everything that was involved. [00:02:12] In the truth of God's word, in light of these matters, and immediately stopped taking that pill. [00:02:18] And so we failed at this. [00:02:20] And I think there's a lot of ignorance around the subject. [00:02:22] Part of the reason why there's ignorance around the subject is because there's deception. [00:02:26] There's deception in the medical realm. [00:02:28] All right. [00:02:29] So if you go to your doctor, women, and you ask, is this pill abortive in nature? [00:02:36] They're going to say, oh, no, no, no, no, it's not. [00:02:38] Don't you worry. [00:02:39] And they're lying. [00:02:40] I want you to know right now, they are lying to you. [00:02:42] All right. [00:02:42] So let me explain. [00:02:43] So some of this is, I'll get to some biblical things, but. [00:02:45] A lot of this is just technical. [00:02:47] Okay. [00:02:47] And then the only reason I know it is, you know, I'm not a biologist, right? [00:02:50] But I do know what a woman is. [00:02:51] I know what a baby is. [00:02:53] I know what a pill is. [00:02:54] I know these things because I'm not a biologist, but I'm a Christian. [00:02:57] I have common sense and an open Bible. [00:02:59] And I live in God's world with natural revelation and blah, blah, blah. [00:03:02] So this is what I learned. [00:03:03] I had to research these things because I'm a Christian. [00:03:05] I want to live honorably before God, which involves you having to do a lot of research on a lot of things. [00:03:09] I had to research vaccines and not just, you know, the COVID vaccine, but I went back since then and was like, should we be giving our kids all these other vaccines? [00:03:18] You know, and looking at this and looking at that. [00:03:20] And so, being a part of being a Christian, let me just say this part of being a Christian means hard work. [00:03:25] Just like there's a lot of things that we have to research and learn and know if we want to really take our responsibility of living in God's world righteously and responsibly and exercising proper stewardship over our children and over our finances and over this and over that. [00:03:45] There's just a lot to do, it's a lot of work. [00:03:46] So, the doctor will say, This is not abortive in nature. === Preventative Measures vs Abortion (10:53) === [00:03:51] That's because they changed the definition of conception. [00:03:55] So, what the medical establishment has done, particularly applying it to this issue of birth control, is they've said that a child is not conceived, or they would say a fetus is not conceived until implantation. [00:04:08] Whereas, what Christians have always held, and a long time before we had ultrasounds and sonograms and all that kind of stuff, before we ever had the medical technology that we have today, I'm talking centuries, for centuries, John Calvin, way back, Augustine, what Christians have always held. [00:04:25] Church history for 2,000 years is that life begins at conception, and conception is defined by fertilization. [00:04:34] The sperm, the seed of the man, entering the woman and entering, particularly, one of her eggs. [00:04:43] So the question is this Conception, we believe as Christians in the sanctity, upholding the sanctity of life, that life begins, human life begins at conception. [00:04:52] So the question is, where is conception? [00:04:54] Is it implantation? [00:04:56] Or fertilization? [00:04:58] Fertilization is the answer. [00:05:01] When you have a zygote, when you have an egg that has been fertilized by a sperm, that is the beginning of human life. [00:05:08] That is conception. [00:05:10] And that was, even for the pagan, the unbelieving world, that was the medical understanding for quite a while until somewhat recently. [00:05:17] And they changed it from fertilization to now that fertilized egg has to implant, and then is conception. [00:05:24] So when the doctor tells you, no, this hormonal birth control pill, Is not abortive by nature. [00:05:32] What he's saying is that it very well may abort, kill, end the life of a fertilized egg. [00:05:40] It just won't do it after the egg's been implanted. [00:05:44] But it will do it after fertilization. [00:05:46] There are three measures, okay? [00:05:48] Three measures that are baked in. [00:05:50] It's the design of the pill. [00:05:53] The first is to thicken the cervical fluid in the woman to slow down the swimmers. [00:06:01] From the man, the sperm, to where they just get bogged down and they can't make it to the egg. [00:06:07] That's the first measure. [00:06:08] That would be preventative, not abortive. [00:06:12] That would hinder an egg from being fertilized, not take a fertilized egg and kill it. [00:06:18] And there is a difference between preventative and abortive. [00:06:22] So the first measure, three measures first is not abortive, but preventative. [00:06:26] The second is also preventative. [00:06:31] Hinder the cycle of the woman so that she does not produce eggs to be fertilized to begin with. [00:06:37] Also preventative. [00:06:38] So, thickening of the cervical fluid to slow down the sperm so they don't make it to the egg. [00:06:42] And then also ensuring that if they did make it to the egg, there's no egg there to begin with. [00:06:46] That's also preventative. [00:06:48] Now, I'm not even going to get into whether or not these are good health decisions, which I would argue in many cases they're not. [00:06:54] And for women who have difficult periods, and those, I understand there are different reasons why a woman, for hormonal reasons, might, but there are other options. [00:07:03] And I don't have time to go into that, but I would again say, Being a Christian is hard work. [00:07:07] Go, you know, read, do some research. [00:07:09] But there are other options besides taking the pill. [00:07:11] So, number one, three measures. [00:07:13] One is preventative, slows down the sperm. [00:07:15] Number two, make sure the egg isn't there, even if the sperm arrived. [00:07:19] But the third measure, and this is on the box, I mean, they boast of this, right? [00:07:23] Because they're trying to sell a product and say, this is highly effective. [00:07:27] And the reason it's highly effective is because it doesn't just have one shot of stopping you from getting pregnant, but three shots, three different methods. [00:07:35] And the third method is right there. [00:07:36] You can read it. [00:07:36] The third method is. [00:07:39] The thinning of the uterine lining in the uterus, the thinning of the lining. [00:07:43] And this method ensures that if the cervical fluid did not get quite thick enough, and therefore the sperm makes it, and the egg was actually there, it didn't get stopped with the woman's cycle, and fertilization actually happened, which we believe that's the moment of conception, and therefore that's when life begins. [00:08:01] This now child, young child, as young as you could possibly be, but a child, human being, life, this life is now going to an inhospitable environment. [00:08:16] Where, because what the egg then needs to do is attach to the uterine lining, but it can't because the wall, the lining has been thinned in such a way that the egg has nowhere to go. [00:08:28] This fertilized egg, this person dies. [00:08:31] And here's the real whore that they won't tell you, and you need to know. [00:08:36] Women who take the birth control pill, right? [00:08:38] Because I know the logic, the argument is this, right? [00:08:40] So some of you might be, so this is part of the logic. [00:08:42] Well, if, if, you know, the only way that would happen, Pastor Joel, is, is, you know, basically what you're saying is the First, two measures that are preventative would have to fail in order for the egg to be fertilized in the first place. [00:08:54] But then the third measure of thinning the uterine lining would have to remain intact. [00:08:59] And that's the only scenario that could accomplish a child being aborted with the pill. [00:09:07] The first two measures would have to fail that are preventative, but the third measure remain intact that is abortive. [00:09:13] And the argument, because I've heard the counters, the argument is well, if the first two measures are failing, then that just means the pill's not working. [00:09:19] That means the third measure is failing also. [00:09:22] There's no science, no data, no studies whatsoever to back that up. [00:09:26] None. [00:09:27] And there never will be because research costs money and there is no incentive for these birth control pill companies to do that research. [00:09:38] No incentive whatsoever. [00:09:39] So, my point is, it's rushing roulette. [00:09:41] So, you're saying, well, I think, right? [00:09:43] You can't base it off of facts and research and data because there is none. [00:09:47] So, it's just a hunch. [00:09:48] You're just saying, well, I think, Joel, that if two thirds of the pill isn't working, Right? [00:09:54] The first two measures, preventative, then I think, I just believe in my heart that, you know, it's all or nothing. [00:10:01] I just think that's the way it works. [00:10:02] If two thirds of the pill isn't working, none of the pill is working. [00:10:05] Okay, great. [00:10:05] So that's going to be your rhetoric, your argument when you stand before a thrice holy God. [00:10:15] I don't envy you. [00:10:16] I don't want to be you. [00:10:18] It's not going to be my argument. [00:10:20] Right? [00:10:20] There's no data to back that up. [00:10:21] You're literally just operating on a hunch. [00:10:23] You're just saying, I think it's all or nothing. [00:10:25] All three measures work or all three measures fail based off of no data. [00:10:31] I just think it. [00:10:32] I feel it in my heart. [00:10:35] So, at best, even if that's your opinion, at best, you're playing Russian roulette. [00:10:40] And you're not playing Russian roulette with your life, holding a gun up to your head, but with the lives of your children, with your babies. [00:10:49] That's the theme of today's episode. [00:10:50] Let's care about babies. [00:10:51] Think about babies. [00:10:52] Focus on babies. [00:10:53] Remember babies? [00:10:54] Rejoice with babies. [00:10:55] Babies. [00:10:57] Yeah, babies, that's a real thing. [00:10:58] Babies. [00:11:00] We're Christians. [00:11:00] We love those things. [00:11:01] We love those little cuddly things. [00:11:03] Babies. [00:11:04] We are pro babies. [00:11:05] We're Christians. [00:11:06] We don't play Russian roulette with babies. [00:11:09] Okay, so that's that. [00:11:11] The last thing that I was going to say is even if you hold to that counter, it's all or nothing. [00:11:15] You know, if the first two preventative measures are failing, then I believe the third one's failing. [00:11:19] And so, therefore, in that case, there's no scenario where my child would be aborted. [00:11:24] And therefore, I think it's ethical to use the pill. [00:11:27] Okay. [00:11:28] There are studies on this, what I'm about to say. [00:11:30] Women who go off the pill often have a lot of health problems, right? [00:11:35] Again, that's talk for another day. [00:11:37] But a lot of times, what will happen is the cervical fluid out of these three measures, um, the third measure, the one that's abortive, that will be the last element to come back into alignment. [00:11:50] What I mean is the cervical fluid that slows down the sperm that'll begin to thin and go back to normal much quicker than the uterine lining thickening and going back to normal. [00:12:01] So, what happens and producing eggs and getting back on our cycle, all those things. [00:12:06] Right, her cervical fluid going back to normal, her producing eggs again and ovulating like normal. [00:12:11] Both of those things statistically will happen before, sometimes even six months before, the lining of her uterine wall goes back to normal. [00:12:23] Which means now she, her body for six months, is a baby killing machine. [00:12:32] And I'm not saying that she meant to do that, most women are ignorant of that. [00:12:35] Christian women have done this and they don't know, but her, in real terms, objectively, scientifically. [00:12:41] Because we're Christians, we like science, just actual science, not the science, but actual science. [00:12:46] The science is that the first two measures will come back, they'll drop off, and she'll go back to normal much quicker in the first two regards than the third, which means all of a sudden the sperm are making it to the egg and she's ovulating now. [00:13:02] There's an egg to be fertilized. [00:13:04] But that third measure of the uterine lining has not yet come back to normal. [00:13:09] And so now she's just, boom, producing eggs. [00:13:12] Her husband, Is fertilizing those eggs, and those eggs are dying. [00:13:19] They're being terminated. [00:13:20] They have nowhere to go. [00:13:22] And honestly, there's so many things. [00:13:25] With abortion, it's obviously thou shalt not murder, right? [00:13:28] The sixth commandment, Exodus 20. [00:13:29] But even in addition, there are commandments all throughout the Bible that talk about exercising hospitality and loving our neighbor. [00:13:38] Women, the child in your womb is your neighbor, it's one of your closest neighbors. [00:13:44] I mean, literally, physically. [00:13:46] Is the closest neighbor, but also in terms of relationally and figuratively, this is your child, right? [00:13:54] That baby is your neighbor. [00:13:56] Really, your neighbor. [00:13:57] If anyone's your neighbor, that baby is your neighbor. [00:14:00] And we're called to love our neighbor. [00:14:01] And one of the commandments that we find throughout the scripture again and again in exercising love for our neighbor is exercising hospitality. [00:14:08] And so, women, you want to host people in your homes. [00:14:11] You want that home to be clean. [00:14:12] You want it to be nice. [00:14:12] You don't want it to be dangerous, right? [00:14:14] You don't want to have a family over in your home, cook a meal for them, and have poison in the meal. [00:14:18] You don't want to have a family in your home with young children and have glass on the ground that can cut them. [00:14:23] Then you want to love your neighbor. [00:14:25] That child in your womb is your neighbor. [00:14:27] And your womb is a place where you are exercising hospitality to that little neighbor. [00:14:33] So make it a hospitable place. [00:14:36] Make it a place of warmth and safety and love and not a place of danger and death and destruction. === Making Your Womb Hospitable (01:07) === [00:14:44] And again, Christian women who are listening to this, if you're not already on board, some of you are probably amening. [00:14:50] I can't see the comments. [00:14:51] Nathan's watching them. [00:14:52] But, you know, if you're amenning, then you already knew. [00:14:55] Praise God. [00:14:56] And a lot of you who are maybe reacting right now with terror, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that it's probably because not malice, but ignorance. [00:15:04] You just didn't know. [00:15:05] And you didn't know because these things are hidden. [00:15:08] Our world doesn't want you to know. [00:15:10] The medical establishment does not want you to know. [00:15:12] Pharmaceutical companies do not want you to know. [00:15:14] Your doctor, who's really friendly with you when he visits, he doesn't want you to know. [00:15:20] He may be nice, but he's not. [00:15:22] He doesn't want you to know. [00:15:24] But now you know. [00:15:25] And you're responsible for what you know. [00:15:27] You're responsible for what you don't know. [00:15:29] Ignorance is not innocence, but you're doubly responsible for what you know. [00:15:34] So act accordingly. [00:15:36] Thanks so much for listening. [00:15:37] But, real quick, before you go, do us a small favor take a moment and leave us a five star review if you enjoyed the show. [00:15:44] This is undoubtedly the best way that you can help us get this biblically faithful content to as many people as possible. [00:15:51] Thanks so much.
