NXR Podcast - DAILY TRUTH - "Who Is This King Of Glory?” Aired: 2022-06-24 Duration: 03:25 === Protecting The Ark From Dirt (02:39) === [00:00:00] Hey guys, real quick before we get started, I have a small request. [00:00:03] If you've been blessed by our content and you like this show, would you take just a brief moment and leave us a five star review? [00:00:09] This is quite possibly the most effective thing that you can do to ensure that this content gets out to as many people as possible. [00:00:17] Thanks. [00:00:19] Jesus said, Man cannot live on bread alone, but from every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. [00:00:25] You're listening to Daily Truth. [00:00:30] As they're traveling from Kirjath Jerem to the city of Jerusalem, The oxen stumble, and the cart begins to sway, and the ark begins to slide, and it seems as though it's going to fall into the dirt. [00:00:45] The holy, holy, holy God, his indwelt presence in the ark of the covenant, is going to fall in the mud. [00:00:54] And so, with good intentions, I have no doubt, a man named Uzzah, who was near the cart, he reaches out his hand to steal the ark so that it wouldn't fall into the dirt. [00:01:05] And God strikes him dead for touching the ark. [00:01:09] Now, David, 2 Samuel chapter 6, David, his first reaction is anger, but immediately it turns to fear. [00:01:18] At first, David is angry because in his heart he's probably thinking what you and I might be tempted to think. [00:01:24] He's thinking, why would God kill a man whose intentions seemingly were good? [00:01:29] He was trying to protect the ark of the covenant from falling into the dirt. [00:01:34] Now, the answer for why God would do that, of course, is this. [00:01:37] That although Uzza's intentions may have been good, he was presumptuous and arrogant because what he presupposed is this he presupposed that it would be an improvement for the presence of God to touch the hand of a man than the dirt. [00:01:58] See, brothers and sisters, dirt has never defied the living God, dirt has never risen up to rebel against Yahweh. [00:02:08] Has not sinned against God and fallen short of his glory. [00:02:12] Dirt, ever since it was made, has only done what it was commanded by God to do. [00:02:18] There's no piece of God's earthly creation but humanity that has ever had the gall, the audacity, the unbridled arrogance to rebel against its creator. [00:02:31] Dirt would have been a massive improvement from the hand of Uzzah. [00:02:37] He was foolish. === Humanity's Arrogant Rebellion Against God (00:45) === [00:02:39] And David realizes this. [00:02:41] He realizes it's not just the anger of God that burns against Uzzah that he is terrified of. [00:02:47] You know what terrifies David ultimately? [00:02:49] What we see that strikes terror in his heart and in the hearts of the people of Israel? [00:02:56] It's not just the wrath of God. [00:02:57] The wrath of God is the result of the holiness of God. [00:03:01] There is nothing more terrifying for sinful men than the holiness of God. [00:03:08] Thanks so much for listening, but real quick. [00:03:10] Before you go, do us a small favor take a moment and leave us a five star review if you enjoyed the show. [00:03:17] This is undoubtedly the best way that you can help us get this biblically faithful content to as many people as possible. [00:03:24] Thanks so much.
