NXR Podcast - DAILY TRUTH - What True Confession Looks Like Aired: 2022-05-26 Duration: 02:51 === Confessing Sin Vindicates God (02:50) === [00:00:00] Hey guys, real quick before we get started, I have a small request. [00:00:03] If you've been blessed by our content and you like this show, would you take just a brief moment and leave us a five star review? [00:00:09] This is quite possibly the most effective thing that you can do to ensure that this content gets out to as many people as possible. [00:00:17] Thanks. [00:00:19] Jesus said, Man cannot live on bread alone, but from every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. [00:00:25] You're listening to Daily Truth. [00:00:29] See, when I say my sin is great, Then, in essence, what I'm saying by default, by correlation, is I'm saying God's great judgments are just and fair. [00:00:40] I mean, how many times have you heard someone say or thought it yourself that eternity in hell seems a bit over the top? [00:00:50] It seems a bit harsh. [00:00:52] Why? [00:00:53] Because we're not properly feeling the weight of our sin. [00:00:57] Right? [00:00:58] The punishment must fit the crime. [00:01:00] And the reason why we think God is the just. [00:01:07] And so what David is doing is he is confessing the fullness and the severity of his sin because even in his repentance, even in his brokenness, even in his shame, his heart is to vindicate God rather than vindicating himself. [00:01:24] Who does that anymore? [00:01:27] I'm concerned. [00:01:30] Right? [00:01:31] In the midst of our brokenness, in the midst of our sin, when someone confronts us, when we get caught, Right? [00:01:36] Because technically he didn't come clean. [00:01:38] Nathan came to him. [00:01:40] When we get caught, what do we do? [00:01:42] Yes, the rumors are true. [00:01:44] In fact, they're far worse than you thought, so that God may be justified in his words and blameless in his judgments. [00:01:49] Nope. [00:01:49] That's not what we do. [00:01:51] It's really not that bad. [00:01:52] And I think you heard, you know, they left out some very important caveats that cast me in a much better light. [00:01:58] Right? [00:01:59] That's what we do. [00:02:00] But here's the deal. [00:02:00] In the same way that when we confess, and again, confession, not just informing, but agreeing with God, when we agree with God about the severity of our sin, we make a statement about the righteousness and the justice of his judgments. [00:02:11] Conversely, when we minimize our sin, we indict God. [00:02:15] So you can only have it one of two ways vindicate yourself and indict God, or own the weight of your sin and say, God is justified. [00:02:30] He is justified in his words and blameless in his judgments. [00:02:34] Thanks so much for listening. [00:02:35] But, real quick, before you go, do us a small favor take a moment and leave us a five star review if you enjoyed the show. [00:02:43] This is undoubtedly the best way that you can help us get this biblically faithful content to as many people as possible. [00:02:50] Thanks so much.
