[00:00:03] If you've been blessed by our content and you like this show, would you take just a brief moment and leave us a five star review? [00:00:09] This is quite possibly the most effective thing that you can do to ensure that this content gets out to as many people as possible. [00:00:17] Thanks. [00:00:20] Jesus said, Man cannot live on bread alone, but from every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. [00:00:25] You're listening to Daily Truth. [00:00:31] If you do not have Christ as your Savior, then you do not have God as your Father. [00:00:38] God is not your hope. [00:00:42] God is your greatest enemy. [00:00:45] God should bring you dread. [00:00:48] For those who do not have Christ as their Savior, you should have an incessant fear of the judgment of God. [00:00:58] I think of amazing grace. [00:01:01] The second verse, it says, 'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, and grace my fears relieved.' In the preaching of the gospel, we often speak of that second half that the gospel works as salve, that the grace of God, the good news of the grace of God, brings sweet relief. [00:01:24] Grace my fears relieved. [00:01:27] But we forget that the same grace that relieves our fears is the same grace that instilled those fears to begin with. [00:01:35] It was grace that taught my heart to fear, and grace my fears relieved. [00:01:41] Meaning this that the person who is in the most fearful shape, the person who actually has the most to fear, is the person who is not in Christ, but also not afraid of the judgment of God. [00:01:58] They have neither been adopted as God by God as their father, but neither are they afraid of God as their judge. [00:02:07] The person who ironically has the most to fear is the person who fears the least outside of Christ. [00:02:17] It is a grace of God, therefore, that He teaches our hearts to fear. [00:02:24] That initial fear, as we come to see God as judge, as we come to see His holiness in the goodness of His law, and as we come to see our sinfulness and all the ways that we've failed and fallen short of His glorious standard. [00:02:42] It is a grace, the initial grace of God that teaches our hearts to fear. [00:02:47] And this fear, this initial fear, is what drives us to the cross where those fears are relieved. [00:02:57] If you do not have God as your Father, it is because you do not have Christ as your Savior. [00:03:04] And if you do not have Christ as your Savior, it is the most gracious and merciful thing that the Lord can do. [00:03:13] To teach your heart to fear. [00:03:16] I pray that you might fear him today, that you might fear his holiness, fear his wrath, fear his judgment, which even now hangs over your head. [00:03:30] But that's not the end of the prayer. [00:03:34] I pray that you might be driven by that fear to the cross, where you find the gospel, the forgiveness of sins, reconciliation to the triune God. [00:03:48] Justification, being declared righteous in his sight, salvation from sin and death. [00:03:57] So, it's grace that taught our hearts to fear. [00:04:00] And it is the grace of the gospel that relieves those fears. [00:04:06] I pray that you might come to Christ today. [00:04:09] Thanks so much for listening. [00:04:10] But, real quick, before you go, do us a small favor take a moment and leave us a five star review if you enjoyed the show.
