[00:04:04]  The U.S. crew member who was missing in southwestern Iran after his F 15 fighter jet was shot down has been rescued.
[00:04:12]  The successful extraction was announced by President Trump overnight on True Social.
[00:04:17]  The president simply said, We got him before providing new details that dozens of U.S. military aircraft were used to retrieve him as U.S. leadership tracked his location.
[00:04:27]  It was a daring operation that included hundreds of U.S. forces racing against the clock to rescue the crew member.
[00:04:33]  Fox News has learned that after the fighter jet was shot down on Friday, the weapons systems officer hiked to an elevated mountain ridge where he hid and waited for retrieval.
[00:04:42]  The pilot of the jet was rescued by U.S. special forces on Friday, but President Trump said they waited to confirm as to not jeopardize.
[00:04:49]  This second operation.
[00:04:50]  The president added, This is the first time in military memory that two U.S. pilots have been rescued separately deep in enemy territory.
[00:04:58]  The IDF said they avoided striking this area as American planes and helicopters flew at a low altitude, hoping to find any sign of the service member.
[00:05:06]  Anything to set a record with this president.
[00:05:08]  First time, first time, first time any airman's ever been rescued behind enemy lines.
[00:05:13]  I'm surprised he didn't slam dead John McCain.

[00:05:42]  A senior administration official tells NBC News the CIA launched a deception campaign spreading word inside Iran.

[00:06:19]  Tonight, the search is over for the second U.S. crew member of the F 15E Strike Eagle.

[00:06:26]  The pilot was rescued several hours after the plane went down, but the search for the second airman continued, taking rescue crews and special operation forces more than a day to safely locate him.
[00:06:36]  The two-seater fighter jet was shot down in a remote area of Iran.
[00:06:41]  This is the first time a manned U.S. aircraft has been shot down behind enemy lines during this war.
[00:06:47]  President Trump calling this one of the most daring search and rescue operations in U.S. history, posting his reaction to social media, saying in part, This brave warrior was behind enemy lines in the treacherous mountains of Iran, being hunted down by our enemies who were getting closer and closer by the hour, but was never truly alone because his commander in chief, secretary of war, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and fellow war fighters were monitoring his location 24 hours a day,

[00:07:17]  At my direction, the U.S. military sent dozens of aircraft armed with the most lethal weapons in the world to retrieve him.

[00:08:20]  Let's get more on our breaking news now the rescue of the U.S. airman who's been missing in Iran after their plane was shot down.
[00:08:27]  John Hendren joins us now on the line from Washington, D.C. John, what more can you tell us?
[00:08:32]  Well, we were told by the U.S. government source that overnight in Iran, a missing crew member of the downed F-15 has been located, and there was a rescue effort, but there was a fierce firefight.
[00:08:46]  The latest information we have is that that crew member, and we don't have a gender, is still has not left Iranian territory.
[00:08:56]  And because of the ongoing hostilities, there could be still danger to that person.
[00:09:04]  also to other people involved in that rescue effort.
[00:09:08]  So this is an ongoing, active rescue effort, but that airman is not safely out of Iranian territory.
[00:09:17]  And I want to be clear when I say airman in the U.S. military parlance, that doesn't necessarily mean a male.
[00:09:22]  We don't know the gender of this person.
[00:09:25]  The U.S. rescue team still needs to successfully exfiltrate, get out of the country and to safety, and we have not confirmation that that has happened.

[00:09:37]  People, all these reports, we're not sure.
[00:09:39]  It could be a she, could be a he, unknown gender.
[00:09:42]  Airmen is just something we say in the military.

[00:19:34]  Fatif Birol told the Financial Times that the world is facing what could be the most severe energy crisis in history.
[00:19:42]  He also warned that politicians and markets are underestimating the scale of the disruption.

[00:21:30]  So we've got to freak everybody out.
[00:21:31]  Yes, well, climbing oil prices and fears of higher interest rates continue to weigh down the markets.
[00:21:38]  We're seeing all of the major stock indexes in the red again today.
[00:21:43]  The Dow Jones Industrial Average down a percent.
[00:21:46]  The NASDAQ.
[00:21:47]  Closing down 2%.
[00:21:49]  And more telling even than that is that this is the fourth week in a row that the indexes have been trading lower.
[00:21:57]  And this as oil prices remain elevated, in particular the Brent crude, the international benchmark, trading at $110 a barrel.
[00:22:06]  So help me understand something because we have two numbers, and I think I finally understand what the difference is between the two numbers.
[00:22:13]  We have the spot market, which where oil is somewhere at $135, $140 a barrel.
[00:22:20]  Then we have the Brent.
[00:22:22]  Now, the Brent is futures.
[00:22:24]  Is that what I'm understanding?
[00:22:25]  No, no, no.
[00:22:26]  Brent is a type of oil.
[00:22:28]  And you compare that, what you compare it to in the pricing is compared to WTI, which is West Texas Intermediate.

[00:23:07]  The government has decided to lower the VAT on fuel from 21% to 10%.
[00:23:13]  Now, this is fantastic.
[00:23:16]  So, the price of gas at the pump has increased significantly.
[00:23:22]  So, the government is saying, we're going to make it the same price by lowering our value added tax from 21 to 10, which at the end of the day, the government's going to have a shortfall on their tax revenue, which will come right back to bite everybody in the butt later.
[00:23:42]  Yeah.
[00:23:43]  This is the weirdest thing I've ever seen a government or governments do is.
[00:23:49]  Like, oh, well, we'll just take it.
[00:23:50]  Well, they're doing that in various states around the USA.
[00:23:53]  Oh, they are?
[00:23:54]  Certain areas are knocking off their onerous taxes, not in California, by the way, but in other places, they're taking the taxes off.
[00:24:03]  So, what good are these taxes?
[00:24:04]  Why have them on there at all?
[00:24:05]  Taxes are bogus anyway.

[00:24:07]  VAT on fuel from 21% to 10%.
[00:24:11]  The measure is expected to save drivers an average of 30 cents per liter.
[00:24:16]  It's a welcome relief for many Spaniards at the start of the long Easter weekend.

[00:24:22]  That's not bad.
[00:24:24]  We're in a better economic situation than France.
[00:24:26]  That's why our government can afford to do this.
[00:24:28]  But that's not the case in France.

[00:24:39]  The Polish government has also taken steps to prevent citizens from paying too much at the pump.
[00:24:45]  As well as lowering VAT, the government has also introduced a daily price cap on fuel.
[00:24:52]  To 300 kilometers a day, the measures make a big difference.
[00:24:57]  To put it simply, rates today are almost back to where they were before prices skyrocketed.
[00:25:03]  Without these measures, he would have had to add an extra 12 euros to each fare.
[00:25:08]  Over the course of a month, that amounts to almost 300 euros in savings.
[00:25:13]  So, yes, the measures are essential.
[00:25:16]  In Lithuania, the government has opted for a different approach, encouraging people to take the train instead of driving by offering half.
[00:25:24]  Price tickets.
[00:25:25]  We will closely monitor train ticket sales.
[00:25:27]  And if demand is high, we will add more carriages.
[00:25:31]  The measure will remain in place until the 31st of May.
[00:25:34]  So, the crisis, I was talking to Christina the other day, and they have gas in their old home for cooking.

[00:25:46]  I don't see any real reason for that to have happened at this very moment, but I guess they used to have a lot of gas everywhere until they decided to stick windmills into the North Sea instead of getting the gas out of it.
[00:26:00]  In Germany, they are messing with the laws of nature.
[00:26:05]  The faster, the better.
[00:26:06]  That's the motto of many German drivers.
[00:26:09]  For them, speed is freedom.
[00:26:11]  It's a pure adrenaline rush the whole time.

[00:27:30]  Let's start with this so called toolbox of new measures that the EU is going to be rolling out.
[00:27:35]  We know that it's It's going to include proposals on lowering tax rates for electricity and grid tariffs.
[00:27:42]  But what exactly needs to be done at this point to help Europeans and people outside the EU as well deal with this current crisis?
[00:27:49]  Well, first of all, thanks for the invitation and be here tonight with you.
[00:27:54]  Let me begin with some honest truth.
[00:27:57]  And the EU has not been so sincere with the population.
[00:28:06]  Disruption of oil in the oil market coming from the Middle East right now.
[00:28:12]  We have never seen such a disruption in the history of energy markets.
[00:28:17]  And the EU is not really communicating this to the population, it is preparing some vague measures and this toolbox of reduced prices, reduced taxes, sorry, on electricity and other kinds of energy products.
[00:28:35]  I think he's right.
[00:28:36]  I think the European Union has lied to their constituents saying.
[00:28:41]  It's okay.
[00:28:42]  We don't need any of that stuff.
[00:28:44]  Certainly not from Russia.
[00:28:45]  We've got windmills.
[00:28:47]  We've got solar.
[00:28:48]  We don't need the nuclear plants.
[00:28:51]  I think that this is coming home to roost right now.
[00:28:53]  And remember when the Germans were laughing at Trump when he said, You're going to be dependent on the Russians for your energy?
[00:29:00]  Was it the United Nations?
[00:29:02]  Yeah.
[00:29:02]  And they're all sitting there, stupid orange man.
[00:29:06]  So, the result is exactly what you'd expect.
[00:29:09]  Russia's LNG exports to Europe have hit a record high in March 2026.

[00:29:16]  I thought it was all banned.

[00:29:22]  From the Middle East reshapes global energy flows.
[00:29:26]  According to data compiled from Bruegel and reported by TASS, Russian LNG deliveries to the European Union surged to 2.46 billion cubic meters.
[00:29:37]  An all time monthly high.
[00:29:39]  The spike comes as conflict in the Middle East disrupts key energy routes, including the Strait of Hormuz, sharply reducing LNG flows from the region.
[00:29:50]  Okay.
[00:29:51]  So the kicker is they've been lying about Russia all along.
[00:29:57]  All along.
[00:29:58]  This week, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said some of his allies asked him to scale back attacks on the Russian oil and gas sector, like this one.
[00:30:08]  Hey, Vlad.
[00:30:08]  Stop hitting the gas and oil stuff, man.
[00:30:11]  We need that over here in Europe.
[00:30:13]  Even though Russia's ability to fund the war in Ukraine is being hugely boosted by high oil and gas prices.
[00:30:21]  If we're talking about three months or six months, they might get anywhere from $100 to $150 billion in additional revenues.
[00:30:31]  For four years, Ukraine's allies have piled sanctions on Russian oil and gas exports, forcing Moscow to use a so called shadow fleet of tankers.
[00:30:40]  Hundreds of aging vessels under false flags, often with tracking systems turned off.
[00:30:46]  There's extreme risks associated with these vessels.
[00:30:49]  They're oftentimes not insured.
[00:30:51]  The UK says it will soon join other European nations in seizing at least some of those vessels in European waters.
[00:30:59]  So why at the same time would some allies ask Zelensky to hold back on attacking Russian energy?
[00:31:06]  Well, around a quarter of the world's oil supply comes from Gulf countries.
[00:31:10]  Much of that now impacted by the Iran war, but almost 12% more comes from Russia.
[00:31:17]  To keep that flowing, the U.S. has already lifted sanctions on some Russian oil.
[00:31:23]  The net effect here is not only that these parties will be able to sell that oil to the tune of billions of dollars, but it also now frees up their capacity so they can start moving new cargo that's oftentimes illicit too.
[00:31:35]  The European Union has also delayed some stronger oil and gas sanctions on Russia.
[00:31:41]  They cannot.
[00:31:41]  At the same time, give more money to Russia while they're spending on rearmament against Russia.
[00:31:47]  Of course, the risk is the US.
[00:31:49]  So, decisions made across the West in the coming months could signal just how much it is willing to pay to support Ukraine.
[00:31:57]  So, you can look at it as well, we're not getting out of there fast enough, or look at what we're doing to Europe, the UK, some Asian countries, China in particular.

[00:33:05]  First, from what I understand, it's about $380 million a day.
[00:33:10]  So we're at 18, 20 billion, which is compared to what NASA just is, kind of cheap.
[00:33:22]  But this is the thing that keeps coming back.
[00:33:24]  And I think I'm, and it's actually something you introduced to the show on the last episode that got me thinking about this.
[00:33:31]  This is the defense budget.
[00:33:33]  The president wants to boost military spending by more than a trillion dollars while proposing slashing domestic programs here at home.
[00:33:39]  And John Hoppersted in the newsroom with More on what would be a historic increase.
[00:33:44]  John, good morning.
[00:33:44]  Good morning, Bill.
[00:33:45]  Yeah, this would be $1.5 trillion for defense, and that would be the highest level of military spending in modern history.
[00:33:52]  As we take a live look at the Capitol this morning, we expect to hear a response from some lawmakers, many of whom will be shocked at this hefty price.
[00:34:01]  The president has signaled that the military, though, is his priority, especially with the ongoing conflict in Iran.
[00:34:07]  But it's a big ask with the country running nearly $2 trillion annual deficits.
[00:34:12]  And the debt heading past $39 trillion.
[00:34:15]  And then there is concern about what kind of programs here at home could be cut.
[00:34:20]  Here's a look at some of them in this proposed budget $768 million to refugee resettlement programs, $5 billion to National Institutes of Health, which many say perform critical medical research in this country.
[00:34:34]  The administration proposed $20 billion in cuts to the NIH last year, but Congress rejected it, and $356 million to the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response.
[00:34:44]  This helps the country prepare.
[00:34:46]  For public health emergencies and then also respond to them, but that would be slashed in this budget proposal.
[00:34:52]  Earlier this week, in comments at the White House, the president raises some eyebrows when he told the crowd that the budget should be focused on the military as we fight wars and that things like daycare, Medicare, and Medicaid should not be funded on a federal level, but by individual states.
[00:35:07]  So, with everything going on, we're all being inundated with the Artemis.
[00:35:15]  We're going to the moon, we're going around the moon.
[00:35:18]  We're doing the moon thing.
[00:35:19]  To the moon.
[00:35:21]  But it's not really about the moon.
[00:35:24]  Um, Three clips, and this will lead you into your clips that I saw you already have.
[00:35:30]  So, this is which clips are those?
[00:35:32]  The alien stuff.

[00:35:54]  Jared Isaacman and NASA officially announced their timeline and plan for our.
[00:35:58]  Own base on the moon.
[00:36:00]  The $20 billion project will replace the plan to deploy a space station in lunar orbit, which was known as Lunar Gateway.
[00:36:07]  However, NASA still plans to use the Lunar Gateway station, a lot of which was already built with the help of contractors.
[00:36:13]  But repurposing may not be simple.
[00:36:15]  So, why the rush now for this base and why the change of plans?
[00:36:19]  Let's get some answers with the director of government relations at the Planetary Society, Jack Corelli.
[00:36:24]  I don't know what this planetary society is.
[00:36:27]  Is that like Bill Nye, the science guy?
[00:36:30]  Does he work there?
[00:36:31]  Because I have no clue.
[00:36:33]  I don't know why they're being brought in.
[00:36:35]  Okay, let's talk about the literal nuts and bolts of this because the Lunar Gateway Station is already built in orbit, but the game plan now is to do something that's permanently stationed on the moon's surface.
[00:36:46]  So, first off, where's all the money for that going to come from?
[00:36:49]  Because that sounds expensive to me.
[00:36:51]  And then, secondly, how possible is that and how much more technically difficult is that?
[00:36:55]  Yeah, I mean, it's just to address the money question up front, it's the folks behind me, right, that write the appropriations laws in this country.
[00:37:02]  And so it's going to require.
[00:37:05]  Administrator Isaacman and the folks at NASA to sell this to the Appropriations Committee on the Hill and sell them on the idea of advancing the Artemis program in this direction.
[00:37:17]  And you mentioned the Lunar Gateway program, which had been a large part of the Artemis architecture, has a lot of the international collaboration components of the program.
[00:37:26]  It's going to require working with those allies as well to make sure that there's buy in to provide the necessary assets on the lunar surface to keep our astronauts alive and doing science from the moon this time.
[00:37:38]  Now, you have to have read President Trump's Space Force policy, which sets a 2028 deadline for the moon base that they're talking about here, the Lunar Gateway, which is all part of the Golden Dome, which brings it back to the Pentagon, which we will not audit under any circumstances.
[00:37:56]  And it's a bonanza and it's a marketing ploy that's taking place right now.
[00:38:01]  Here's the CEO of Firefly, who also wants some of that Golden Dome dollars.
[00:38:09]  If you think about it, we have the capability, the entire space ecosystem, to launch our satellites, build and operate our satellites on orbit, and now process that data using the SciTech AI algorithms on orbit.
[00:38:22]  And that's huge because there's a lot of emphasis on space based orbital data centers.
[00:38:29]  There's a lot of emphasis and reignited focus on the moon.
[00:38:34]  And there's also a lot of upside opportunity with things like Golden Dome.
[00:38:40]  So we have all the Entire ecosystem to make those programs into reality.
[00:38:46]  This is what it is.
[00:38:47]  This whole exercise, the space launch is all to get people all lathered up and all excited about the expenditure for space, but it's really the Golden Dome.
[00:38:58]  President Trump on Tuesday unveiled plans for a so called Golden Dome.
[00:39:01]  It's his twist on the Iron Dome, the informal name for Israel's missile defense system.
[00:39:06]  Defense Secretary Pete Heggs have characterized it as an important step for the U.S.
[00:39:11]  This right here, the Golden Dome for America, is a game changer.
[00:39:14]  It's a generational investment in the security of America and Americans.
[00:39:19]  President Reagan 40 years ago cast the vision for it.
[00:39:22]  The technology wasn't there.
[00:39:23]  Now it is, and you're following through to say we will protect the homeland.
[00:39:28]  CBS News Pentagon reporter Eleanor Watson joins us now.
[00:39:30]  Ellie, what did President Trump say about what this would cost and how long it would take?
[00:39:35]  President Trump in the Oval Office today said that the total cost for this project would be about $175 billion, and it could take.
[00:39:42]  Just three years to complete.
[00:39:44]  Now, that's on the low end of the estimates that experts have been offering on what such a system may take.
[00:39:52]  The caveats here are that the $175 billion, including $25 billion that is just a down payment to get the system started, which is included in the reconciliation bill that has not yet passed, none of that funding has been provided by Congress yet.
[00:40:09]  President Trump is optimistic that Congress is supportive of the plan and he'll get that funding.
[00:40:13]  And then the other caveat is that the Program, the Defense Department still has to choose many of the contractors to build up this program.
[00:40:23]  Now, the first step was taken today in the Oval Office where President Trump named Space Force General Michael Gutlein as the program manager for this.
[00:40:34]  So he will see this building start.
[00:40:38]  And when it ends, if it ends in three years, that will be quite a success story since this is such an expansive program that's going to integrate missile defense from the seabed all the way to space.

[00:47:48]  What got me hooked is the paper trail documents that were squeezed out of the U.S. government after the FOIA, Freedom of Information Act, became the law of the land.

[00:48:03]  The documents from military and intelligence personnel behind closed doors admit that, quote, these things are real, they're not fictitious.
[00:48:11]  They can fly in formation, they're evasive, and they outperform any aircraft known to exist, including ours.

[00:49:42]  So, I read in a major newspaper just a couple of weeks ago, they planted this story.
[00:49:47]  An Air Force colonel went out into the desert, went to a bar at Rachel, and gave them some fake UFO photos.
[00:49:54]  And that's how the whole story about Area 51 started, which is preposterous.
[00:49:59]  Because it's real.

[00:50:05]  And now we go to the third clip of this series.
[00:50:08]  And I don't know when this hearing was held, but it was Congress and House on space aliens.

[00:50:20]  At the start, when these things first started invading our skies in large numbers, we were scared.
[00:50:24]  It was right after World War II, and we didn't know what they were, and they didn't want to panic the public, and that was probably a good call.

[00:50:36]  Flights over Washington, D.C. in 1952, they're seen, they're captured on radar, jets are chased after these objects, and then we get an explanation it was a temperature inversion.
[00:50:47]  And those kind of lies have been told for a long time.
[00:50:50]  What was told to me by an investigator from Congress, a guy named Richard D'Amato, who was sent after this story by Robert Byrd and Harry Reid, he came out to Nevada, tried to get into Area 51, did get in there, looked around, talked to people, trying to get to the bottom of it.
[00:51:05]  He believed that this Program, reverse engineering, et cetera, was inside, had been moved inside these corporations.
[00:51:11]  And he said, when this comes out, people are going to go to prison.
[00:51:14]  And he meant people who were basically misusing legitimate national security funds, tens of billions of dollars, in order to keep this cover up going.
[00:51:22]  I also believe there's a legitimate reason for the cover up in that there is undeniable connection of national security involved in this technology.
[00:51:29]  If we are racing for it to master that technology against the Russians and the Chinese, which is what I have been told by Senator Reid and many others, Then it is a race that's critical to our survival.
[00:51:41]  There could be a form of disclosure, I think.
[00:51:44]  Yes, it's real, it's from somewhere else, without revealing all the details that would allow someone else to have an advantage in the race for this technology.
[00:51:54]  To be skeptical, what I just gotta be skeptical of all this, yeah.

[01:04:11]  Lieutenant Michael Kelly warns these incidents can overwhelm law enforcement and turn dangerous very quickly, like this recent one in a neighboring Texas county, which ended with damage to cars and three arrests.

[01:11:07]  He is the number two at the Justice Department.

[01:25:28]  And what's interesting is that according to the CDC's national surveillance system, the one that tracks these viruses, HMPV is really currently on the rise.
[01:25:36]  By the end of March, in nationwide tests that were positive for respiratory viruses, 6.3% of them were positive for HMPV.
[01:25:44]  Which is lower than influenza, but notably, it's higher than COVID 19, roughly three times higher.
[01:25:50]  They also found that HMPV peaks later, sometime around April, meaning in the next month or so, as influenza cases go down, HMPV cases will likely make up a larger proportion of the people who are sick.

[01:27:13]  It was published in February of 2026 outlining the work that's being done on developing a monoclonal antibody treatment for HMPV.

[01:28:53]  Now, aside from this cool name, the official name for this new variant is BA.3.2, and it's an offshoot of the Omicron strain of SARS CoV 2.
[01:29:02]  It was first detected over in South Africa in November of 2024.
[01:29:06]  But it did not begin circulating more widely until September of last year, 2025, after which it's now been spotted in 23 different countries, and the proportion of this virus is growing as well.
[01:29:16]  For instance, according to this report here from the CDC, you can see that the cicada variant now accounts for upwards of 30% of cases in some parts of Europe.
[01:29:25]  And then specifically, in regards to here in the U.S., quote, But it wasn't until January of this year that BA32 showed up in a clinical sample from a U.S. patient.
[01:29:42]  As of February 11th, cicada had been detected in four U.S. travelers and five patients, as well as airline and wastewater samples across 25 states, including New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.
[01:29:53]  But before we go ahead and shut down all of society once again, it should be worth noting that here in the U.S., at least, this new cicada variant accounts for very little, something like 1% of all COVID cases.
[01:30:05]  The concern with it, though, is the large number of mutations that are present on the spike protein.
[01:30:11]  The strain carries roughly 70 to 75 mutations in its spike protein, the part of the virus that helps it enter human cells, giving it what experts call immune escape characteristics.
[01:30:21]  That means it could partially dodge protection from vaccines or prior infections, potentially making it easier to spread.
[01:30:29]  And therefore, this is what's known as a VOI, which is a variant of interest.

[01:31:57]  They're targeting phantom hospice centers, and so far it's working.
[01:32:01]  Yesterday, the feds arrested doctors, nurses, and psychologists accused of pocketing $60 million right under greasy Gavin Newsom's nose.
[01:32:11]  But here's how they got caught all of the terminally ill patients weren't dying.
[01:32:16]  Lolita Minard, a 65 year old woman in Anaheim, she ran a company named Topanga Hospice Care.
[01:32:24]  She billed Medicare for more than $9.1 million over a five year period for the care of supposedly terminally ill patients.
[01:32:35]  This company had a death discharge rate of 85%.
[01:32:39]  When you go to hospice, you're usually going to, you're going there to die.
[01:32:43]  You're not supposed to have an 85% survival rate coming out of your hospital facility.

[01:35:57]  This acquisition brings a team with strong editorial instincts, deep audience understanding, and proven ability to convene influential voices across tech, business, and culture.

[01:36:13]  TBPN has built something pretty special.
[01:36:15]  It's one of the places where the conversations about AI and builders is actually happening day to day.
[01:36:20]  A lot of you already watch it and rely on it to stay close to what's going on.
[01:36:24]  As I've been thinking about the future of how we communicate in OpenAI, one thing that's become clear is that the standard communications playbook just doesn't apply to us.
[01:36:33]  We're not a typical company.
[01:36:34]  We're driving a really big technological shift, and with the mission of bringing AGI to the world comes a responsibility to help create a space for real, constructive conversation about the changes AI creates with builders.
[01:36:50]  And people using the technology at the center.
[01:36:52]  So rather than trying to recreate that ourselves, it made a lot of sense just to bring them in, support what they're doing, and help them scale while keeping what makes them special.
[01:37:01]  A core part of this is editorial independence.
[01:37:04]  We can say whatever we want because we're live and we don't need to run anything through anyone.
[01:37:09]  It's not possible.

[01:37:34]  Now, the podcast is really, it's guys from Peter Thiel, it's X, or not even X, it's venture capital guys, and they have all of the AI leaders on this podcast live every single day.
[01:37:50]  It's a complete, I'm surprised you've never heard of it.
[01:37:53]  It's a complete tech bro circle jerk.
[01:37:55]  So, you know, one day Altman's on and then Zuckerberg, and then they just keep rotating around and then the guy from Anthropic and then someone from, so that it is the place where Silicon Valley.
[01:38:08]  If it wasn't bad enough, how they do circular financing, they're all talking to themselves in this circle about, oh, it's going to be great.
[01:38:16]  And what is the good and is the bad?
[01:38:18]  And what's the danger and the future and all this stuff?
[01:38:22]  And so this was a very surprising acquisition for an AI company.
[01:38:27]  Like, what is the story with this?
[01:38:31]  So, as it turns out, Chris Lehane is now the strategist for OpenAI.
[01:38:39]  Does this name ring any bells?
[01:38:43]  Sounds vaguely familiar.
[01:38:46]  He was the crisis guy in the Clinton administration.
[01:38:53]  He was dubbed the master of disaster.
[01:38:56]  He does political and crisis management.
[01:38:58]  He was press secretary for Al Gore's 2000 campaign.
[01:39:03]  But his big thing was really Monica Lewinsky.
[01:39:07]  So the Clintons brought him in, and he is a crisis guy.
[01:39:13]  So OpenAI has him.
[01:39:15]  And he did some like an online seminar type thing in 2025.
[01:39:23]  I got three short clips so you can kind of hear what his strategy is when he's going in to a place like the White House or perhaps a company to help them if they have crisis and they need crisis communications.
[01:39:39]  First, we've got to get to the core audience.
[01:39:42]  Who is the most important audience that you are speaking to, that you're disclosing information to?
[01:39:47]  Because ultimately, Those people are the ones who are going to make a decision up or down on whether you're credible and whether ultimately you can be trusted going forward.
[01:39:56]  So you need to identify exactly who it is.
[01:39:58]  Now, typically, there's a series of concentric circles, right?
[01:40:00]  There's a bullseye of the most important audience or most important audiences, and it expands outward.
[01:40:05]  It doesn't mean you have to be mutually exclusive.
[01:40:08]  You could talk to all the audiences, but most importantly, you need to make sure you are talking to your core audience and build out from there.
[01:40:14]  So if I'm just going to extrapolate this and overlay it on the TBPN Valutainment podcast acquisition, I'd say, yeah, you want to be talking to your core audience, which is people who have invested over a trillion, trillion and a half dollars and are wondering when is this thing going to work?
[01:40:29]  When is it going to do what you told me it was going to do?
[01:40:32]  We got all this money in here.
[01:40:33]  So you need to make sure that people have the right facts.
[01:40:37]  The only way you can kill bad facts or correct bad facts is with good facts.
[01:40:42]  And so there is a burden of proof, so to speak, on the person who is in a crisis.
[01:40:46]  You simply can't say that what's been reported is not true or it's only half true or that there's another side of a story.
[01:40:52]  To actually get your story out there, to actually convey and communicate effectively in an incredible way, you either have to be able to provide people the specific facts, particularly the core facts that they're looking at in a particular situation, or you need to be able to identify a process that you're going to pursue to be able to get to those.
[01:41:09]  But at the end of the day, you can't get the small details wrong, right?
[01:41:12]  There's been so many situations where someone has been in a crisis and they've actually tried to do everything right.
[01:41:16]  They've disclosed, they've disclosed to the core audience that they want to talk to, but they get a fact wrong, they get a factoid right, they have something off.
[01:41:24]  And suddenly, that particular thing that they missed, that particular detail that they got wrong, looms much bigger because people are going to have a very cynical and skeptical perspective of them.
[01:41:33]  And if that detail is wrong, they're going to think for some reason you're trying to hide it, or for some reason you're not trying to communicate it in a truthful way.
[01:41:40]  So you have to make sure that when you're going to put the information out, you've thought through the questions that you're going to get, and you either can answer them with a level of detail and specificity that your core audience expects, or provide a process that you will pursue to ultimately get there.
[01:41:54]  What better way to do that than with a podcast?
[01:41:57]  Everybody trusts a podcast.
[01:41:58]  When you do all this, when you follow his crisis management system.
[01:42:02]  What's the crisis?
[01:42:04]  They have a crisis.
[01:42:05]  The crisis is nobody wants to put any more money in after this.
[01:42:09]  The secondary market is broken and the stuff sucks.
[01:42:13]  That's the crisis.
[01:42:14]  They are about to, they're going to have three IPOs.
[01:42:18]  So they put together a podcast just to try to buffalo everybody that nobody listens to.
[01:42:24]  I never heard of it.
[01:42:25]  No, the only people who listen to it are Silicon Valley people, the only people who matter, the VCs.
[01:42:31]  That's what it's about.
[01:42:34]  The crisis is.
[01:42:36]  I have to listen to it.
[01:42:37]  Yeah, and here's the final one.
[01:42:39]  Crises, there is a natural human tendency to not communicate as forcefully and as effectively as you need to, when in fact, in a crisis, you want to err on the side of almost over communicating.
[01:42:54]  To begin with, there is so much noise and information out there that enables you to break through with your message, to resonate with your core audience, to give the information that people are looking for.
[01:43:06]  You need to do it loudly.
[01:43:07]  You need to do it consistently.
[01:43:09]  You need to do it repetitively.
[01:43:10]  And you need to do it in a way that ultimately does resonate with them so that they are hearing it.
[01:43:15]  So, when you're in a crisis, it's not good enough just to put out the information.
[01:43:18]  Sometimes it's not good enough just to put out the information once.
[01:43:20]  You have to do it any number of times.
[01:43:22]  And you have to be able to determine is your core audience hearing this, right?
[01:43:27]  Because you could be fully disclosed.
[01:43:28]  You could be doing everything right.
[01:43:29]  This is desperate.
[01:43:29]  But if they don't hear it, you're not actually accomplishing what your strategy is designed to accomplish.
[01:43:34]  Yes, it's desperate.
[01:43:35]  That's why they hired him, just like he was hired for.
[01:43:40]  By California Edison during the California energy crisis, Goldman Sachs during the financial crisis, Cisco when the bubble burst, Lance Armstrong, he had a couple of crises.
[01:43:51]  Al Gore's current TV when it fired Keith Olbermann, Madonna when she had that whole Kabbalah center and everyone hated her, Rob Reiner and the first five Hollywood studios.
[01:44:03]  This guy has been, this is what he does.
[01:44:06]  He was brought in because they see a crisis.
[01:44:10]  And the crisis is, It's not working out the way they want it to.
[01:44:15]  Of course not.

=== Human Adaptation Pace Concerns (04:33) ===

[01:49:18]  Is something that's been talked about within tech circles for a while, but rarely so starkly and so publicly.
[01:49:23]  I spoke to him just before air about that and other implications he thinks AI may have on society.
[01:49:28]  Dario, you've said that AI could wipe out half of all entry level white collar jobs and spike unemployment to 10 to 20 percent.
[01:49:38]  How soon might that happen?
[01:49:40]  Well, let's.
[01:49:41]  Well, first of all, thanks for having me on the show.

[01:49:46]  Just to back up a little bit, you know, I've been building AI.
[01:49:50]  Pump the brakes.
[01:49:51]  For over a decade.
[01:49:52]  And I think maybe the most salient feature of the technology and what is driving all of this is how fast the technology is getting better.
[01:50:00]  A couple of years ago, you could say that AI models were maybe as good as a smart high school student.
[01:50:05]  I would say that now they're as good as a smart college student and sort of reaching past that.
[01:50:10]  I really worry, particularly at the entry level, that the AI models are very much at the center of what an entry level human worker would do.
[01:50:20]  And so it's hard to estimate exactly what the impact would be.
[01:50:25]  And there's always this question of, Adaptation.
[01:50:28]  And, you know, these technology changes have happened before, but I think what is striking to me about this AI boom is that it's bigger and it's broader and it's moving faster than anything has before.
[01:50:40]  And so compared to previous technology changes, I'm a little bit more worried about the labor impact simply because it's happening so fast that yes, people will adapt, but they may not adapt fast enough.
[01:50:52]  And so there may be an adjustment.
[01:50:54]  That sounds to me like he's walking it back.
[01:50:57]  Well, you know, it's because it's happening fast.
[01:51:04]  To be honest, I don't even know what he's saying.

[01:57:34]  With these stupid Claude bot lobster crap things that people have just willy nilly installed on their Mac minis, people have now made podcast generators that will spin up 500 podcasts of Drek a minute.
[01:57:53]  And so, yes, I heard this.
[01:57:54]  And start submitting it to the index, and it's killing our API.
[01:57:59]  You know, there's all kinds of stuff.
[01:58:01]  Can't you bump them?
[01:58:02]  Yeah, but it's a moving target.
[01:58:04]  Dave has a job, by the way, he's got a day job.
[01:58:09]  Yeah.
[01:58:09]  But this AI is, you know, everyone's launching bots and all kinds of stuff.
[01:58:15]  It's been out of control.
[01:58:16]  So you can imagine that Sir Paul Couture has had quite a go of it ever since AI art came into being.
[01:58:26]  And we even saw it on the last show after the show.
[01:58:30]  We were looking to choose some art.
[01:58:31]  And there were like, you know, 50 copies of the same art had been auto spewed onto it.
[01:58:38]  He's been battling bots.
[01:58:41]  He's been battling.
[01:58:44]  Honestly, he's been battling horrible art like child porn that people have been trying to upload.
[01:58:49]  So he's become a security guy at the same time.
[01:58:52]  He just used to be.
[01:58:53]  It stinks.
[01:58:54]  It does stink.
[01:58:56]  It really stinks.
[01:58:58]  And then also, there's the abuse he takes from artists.
[01:59:04]  When something doesn't work, you know how people are.
[01:59:09]  Instead of thinking, wow, this is just a guy who's doing this in his spare time to help the show.
[01:59:15]  People get so just out of whack and out of balance of understanding volunteerism.
[01:59:24]  So he had to, and it was eating up resources.
[01:59:27]  So he moved the entire art generator to some CDN overnight, literally.
[01:59:35]  And he has been, and he's, but he's also added new features.
[01:59:38]  He's done a whole bunch of work.
[01:59:40]  And I really want to say thank you, Sir Paul Couture.
