[00:02:32] The Trump administration holding a high-profile event yesterday, spotlighting the Trump Accounts Program featuring rapper Nikki Minaj and others. [00:02:41] The Trump Accounts program signed into law as part of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, creating new tax-advantaged investment accounts for children under 18 through the Treasury Department. [00:02:53] President Trump touting the program as a generational wealth-building tool for American families. [00:03:00] Perhaps no provision of the Great Big Beautiful bill will prove more consequential than Trump accounts. [00:03:07] Parents, employers, churches, states, and loved ones will also be able to add up to $5,000 in additional money for those accounts. [00:03:15] And with every modest contribution, Trump accounts should reach at least $50,000 in value by the time the child turns 18 and could be very substantially more than that. [00:03:28] With slightly greater contributions, the typical account will grow to $100,000, $200,000, and can even grow up to past $300,000 per child. [00:03:38] The size and scale of this wealth will dwarf all government programs ever created to benefit America's youth. [00:03:45] There's never been anything like this. [00:03:47] That's why everybody's talking about it. [00:03:49] Even really people that truly hate me are making this investment. [00:03:54] Mr. Trump outlining why he sees the program as legacy-defining. [00:03:59] Every president in modern history has left our children with nothing but debt. [00:04:04] But under this administration, we're going to leave every child with real assets and a shot at financial freedom. [00:04:12] We'll ensure that Americans don't just end their lives with a nest egg, but instead all Americans will begin their lives with a beautiful nest egg. [00:04:21] There's never been anything quite like this. [00:04:24] Eligible children born from 2025 to 2028 will receive $1,000 in seed money from the Treasury to kickstart their investments. [00:04:34] The Dell family paving the way in December with a $6,250,000 donation to the program. [00:04:42] Thanks to the Dells, the first 25 million American children aged 10 and under living in areas with median incomes below $150,000 will receive an additional $250. [00:04:55] Up to $5,000 per year can be contributed to the accounts, which the child can access at age 18 to pay for college, buy a home, or start a business. [00:05:05] If the child decides not to withdraw the money at that time, it then functions as a retirement account. [00:05:11] Stake and Shake, Broadcom, Intel, IBM, JPMorgan, Chipotle, Coinbase, and Comcast all announcing yesterday they will begin offering matching contributions for employees, joining other companies like Charles Schwab, Uber, MasterCard, and Robinhood. [00:05:28] Visa now allowing customers to earn cash back rewards that go to Trump accounts. [00:05:33] Rapper Nikki Minaj also called to the stage during the event. [00:05:37] I don't know what to say, but I will say that I am probably the president's number one fan. [00:05:48] And that's not going to change. [00:05:50] And the hate or what people have to say, it does not affect me at all. [00:05:57] It actually motivates me to support him more. [00:06:01] And it's going to motivate all of us to support him more. [00:06:04] We're not going to let them get away with bullying him and, you know, the smear campaigns. [00:06:09] It's not going to work. [00:06:11] Okay. [00:06:12] He has a lot of force behind him and God is protecting him. [00:06:19] Amen. [00:06:21] Minaj reportedly pledging to donate up to $300,000 to be distributed to accounts belonging to her fans' newborns. [00:06:28] The accounts are set to go live on July 4th. [00:06:32] Democrat Congresswoman Ilhan Omar of Minnesota sprayed with a brownish liquid by a disruptor at a town hall event in Minneapolis. [00:06:41] A hazmat team confirming the substance to be apple cider vinegar, reports Alpha News. [00:06:47] The congresswoman was speaking Tuesday night when a man seated in the front row stood up, approached the congresswoman, and sprayed her with a plastic syringe containing the then-unknown substance. [00:06:59] The moment, here. [00:07:01] Kristi Noem must resign or face impeachment. [00:07:11] I don't know. [00:07:12] I need a napkin to know nothing. [00:07:15] We won't continue. [00:07:16] These fucking assholes are not going to get away with the angel checks. [00:07:19] The suspect has been identified by authorities as 55-year-old Anthony J. Kazmirzak. [00:07:24] He was arrested at the scene and booked into Hennepin County Jail on suspicion of third-degree assault, according to the Minnesota Star Tribune. [00:07:32] Kazmirzak's social media activity indicating support for President Trump. [00:07:36] A neighbor, Brian Kelly, describing him to the New York Post as a, quote, pretty conservative guy who, quote, doesn't like Omar. [00:07:44] Kelly also telling the post that Kazmirzak was involved in a past car accident that affected his spine, saying he is heavily medicated and not physically able to do much as a result. [00:07:56] According to Kelly, Kazmirzak asked him to watch his dog before attending the town hall, saying, quote, I'm going to this Omar thing. [00:08:03] I might get arrested. [00:08:05] Omar was not injured and completed her remarks without receiving medical attention. [00:08:10] She later posted on X, quote, I'm okay. [00:08:12] I'm a survivor, so this small agitator isn't going to intimidate me from doing my work. [00:08:17] I don't let bullies win. [00:08:19] President Trump responding to the event Tuesday night on a phone call with ABC's Rachel Scott, quote, I think she's a fraud. [00:08:26] She probably had herself sprayed, knowing her. [00:08:29] Minneapolis police confirming yesterday the FBI is leading the investigation. [00:08:33] Federal charges are expected to be filed. [00:08:36] The U.S. Capitol Police, tasked with investigating threats to members of Congress, releasing a statement, quote, We are now working with our federal partners to see this man faces the most serious charges possible to deter this kind of violence in our society. [00:08:54] Coming up, Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Capitol Hill defending the administration's recent work in Venezuela. [00:09:01] And Apple CEO Tim Cook sparking backlash over an internal memo to employees and an appearance at the White House. [00:09:14] How are you showing a little extra love this February, whether it's for someone special or just for yourself? [00:09:19] Well, there's an intimate question. [00:10:24] Celebrate everyday love with comfort that makes the little moments count. [00:10:31] Secretary of State Marco Rubio appearing before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee yesterday, offering a progress report on the Trump administration's approach to Venezuela following the U.S. military operation that captured former leader Nicolas Maduro and his wife earlier this month. [00:10:47] Secretary Rubio highlighting the administration's progress thus far in improving relations with Venezuela, urging senators to be patient with the rate of progress. [00:10:57] First, I would remind everybody, let's just go back six months, eight months, a year ago at this time. [00:11:02] The Venezuelan challenge for us was frozen. [00:11:05] It was a frozen situation. [00:11:07] We had a regime that was entrenched. [00:11:09] Its opposition was either in hiding or had been forced overseas. [00:11:12] And Mundo Gonzalez lives in Spain. [00:11:14] Maria Carina is no longer. [00:11:15] She's very brave. [00:11:16] She stood there as long as she could, but she had to leave. [00:11:19] The others are in jail. [00:11:20] Now, for the first time in literally a decade, there is the opportunity that something could change. [00:11:26] There's not the guarantee that something will change, but there is the opportunity that something will change. [00:11:30] We have changed that dynamic. [00:11:32] We want a Venezuela that has legitimate democratic elections. [00:11:34] We also want a Venezuela that's prosperous and a Venezuela that's aligned with the United States. [00:11:39] But again, I remind everybody, on Friday will mark the four weeks since this happened. [00:11:43] I get it. [00:11:44] We all want like something immediately, but this is not a frozen dinner you put in a microwave and in two and a half minutes it comes out ready to eat. [00:11:50] And these are complex things. [00:11:52] News of the Maduro raid did catch many in Washington and around the world off guard, including lawmakers on Capitol Hill. [00:11:59] Many Democratic senators publicly criticizing the Trump administration for carrying out the operation without first notifying Congress or seeking authorization. [00:12:09] Democrats arguing that under the Constitution, only Congress has the power to declare war and that a U.S. military raid on another country should be subject to congressional approval. [00:12:20] The administration's characterizing the operation as a law enforcement action involving military assistance, not a prolonged military invasion, and therefore contending that it did not require prior congressional authorization. [00:12:33] Republican Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky, breaking with most of his party, pressing Secretary Rubio on that logic. [00:12:41] If a foreign country bombed our air defense missiles, captured and removed our president, and blockaded our country, would that be considered an act of war? [00:12:51] It's hard for us to conceive that an operation that lasted about four and a half hours and was a law enforcement operation to capture someone we don't recognize as a head of state. [00:12:59] Well, would it be an act of war if someone did it to us? [00:13:02] Nobody dies, few casualties, they're in and out. [00:13:05] Boom, it's a perfect military operation. [00:13:07] Would that be an act of war? [00:13:09] Of course it would be an act of war. [00:13:11] So my next question would be, let's say it's not a war. [00:13:14] So it's a drug bust. [00:13:16] What if a foreign country indicts our president for violating a foreign law? [00:13:22] Should we extradite our president or should we be okay if they come in and get him by force? [00:13:27] Look, I think ultimately we're always going to act in our national interest. [00:13:30] And so if somebody comes after our national interest, like the case you've described, the U.S. always has the right to act in its national interest and to protect itself. [00:13:37] I don't know about this equivalency. [00:13:39] Does this justify them doing it? [00:13:40] We're always going to do what's best for the United States and America. [00:13:43] Democrat Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut questioning Secretary Rubio on whether the administration would seek congressional authorization for any future use of military force in Venezuela. [00:13:54] The Secretary insisting the administration does not anticipate further military action. [00:14:00] In the future, if the Venezuelan government isn't complying with your requests, do you concede that if you're using military action simply to try to compel cooperation from the government, you absolutely need congressional authorization for that sort of thing? [00:14:16] Look, the president never rules out his options as commander-in-chief to protect the national interest of the United States. [00:14:22] I can tell you right now with full certainty, we are not postured to, nor do we intend or expect to have to take any military action in Venezuela at any time. [00:14:30] The only military presence you will see in Venezuela is our Marine Guards at an embassy. [00:14:35] Okay, that is our goal. [00:14:36] That is our expectation. [00:14:38] And that is what everything outlines towards. [00:14:40] That said, if an Iranian drone factory pops up and threatens our forces in the region, the president retains the option to eliminate that threat. [00:14:47] If we tell them we don't want to see drones from Iran, as an example, pointed at the United States or threatening our forces or our presence in the region or our allies' presence in the region, and they refuse to comply with that, the president does reserve the option in self-defense to eliminate that threat. [00:15:01] We don't see that. [00:15:02] We don't anticipate it, but it could happen. [00:15:04] But we hope not. [00:15:05] We don't want it to happen. [00:15:06] And finally, Democrat Senator of Virginia, Tim Kaine, attempting a gotcha question. [00:15:12] Last question is this. [00:15:13] You talked about the speech in Davos. [00:15:15] Here's what something the president said in Davos. [00:15:19] I'm helping NATO until the last few days when I told them about Iceland. [00:15:22] They loved me. [00:15:24] They're not here for us on Iceland, that I can tell you. [00:15:26] Our stock market took the first dip yesterday because of Iceland. [00:15:30] So Iceland has already cost us a lot of money. [00:15:34] President repeatedly mistook Iceland for Greenland, right? [00:15:37] We're not mad at Iceland. [00:15:38] They haven't cost us any money. [00:15:39] The president just mistook the two countries for each other, correct? [00:15:43] Yeah, he meant to say Greenland, but I think we're all familiar with presidents that have verbal stumbles. [00:15:48] We've had presidents like that before. [00:15:50] Some made a lot more than this one. [00:15:53] Apple CEO Tim Cook facing mounting backlash from the left following a leaked internal memo to employees in the wake of the fatal Alex Predi shooting in Minneapolis. [00:16:03] The memo first reported by Bloomberg's Mark German, reading in part, quote, I'm heartbroken by the events in Minneapolis, and my prayers and deepest sympathies are with the families, with the communities, and with everyone that's been affected. [00:16:16] This is a time for de-escalation. [00:16:19] Cook going on to emphasize Apple's long-standing values, writing that the company believed America is strongest when it treats all people with dignity and respect and embraces shared humanity, principles he has said Apple consistently advocates. [00:16:33] More from the letter, quote, I had a good conversation with the president this week where I shared my views and I appreciate his openness to engaging on issues that matter to us all. [00:16:43] The memo quickly drawing criticism online. [00:16:46] Replies to German's post filled with hundreds of comments, many sharply critical of Cook. [00:16:51] One user writing, quote, Tim needs to focus on making the iPhone keyboard work again. [00:16:57] Another adding, quote, exhibit A for weak leadership 101. [00:17:01] The criticism coming amid another wave of backlash over Cook's attendance at a private White House screening last Saturday of the Melania documentary. [00:17:10] The $40 million project distributed by Amazon marking a comeback for director Brett Ratner, who was quote canceled in 2017 during the Me Too movement following multiple allegations of sexual misconduct. [00:17:24] Ratner denies the allegations and was never charged, though Warner Brothers ended its partnership with his production company. [00:17:31] Also attending the screening, Mike Tyson, Tony Robbins, and Amazon CEO Andy Jassy. [00:17:37] Cook was photographed at the event alongside Ratner, taking place the same day as the Alex Predi confrontation, which remains under investigation. [00:17:46] Washington Bureau Chief for Liberal Outlet Mother Jones, David Korn, writing on Blue Sky, quote, Tim Cook and Andy Jassy, and the rest are accommodating an authoritarian who is presiding over a secret police force killing American citizens. [00:18:02] The blood of Renee Good and Alex Predi is on the hands of those who enabled Trump. [00:18:06] Hope they like the movie. [00:18:08] Totally normal response. [00:18:10] Apple has not publicly responded to the criticism. [00:18:12] We reached out for comment and did not receive a reply. [00:18:18] That'll do it for your AM update.
