Is Kamala's running mate, Tim Walz, a tool of the Chinese Communist Party?
The House Oversight Committee, as well as a number of Department of Homeland Security officials, seem to think so.
I have a letter right here.
This is from the Oversight Committee to the Secretary of DHS, observing that the committee has conducted a government-wide investigation of how agencies are dealing with CCP infiltration.
Quote, during its briefings with over 20 federal agencies in its investigation, the committee has learned of the emphasis the CCP has placed on influencing subnational government leaders, Including state governors.
Along those lines, the committee has recently received whistleblower disclosures informing the committee of serious concern among DHS personnel regarding a long-standing connection between the CCP and Minnesota Governor Timothy James Walls.
Specifically, and then it goes on to list all sorts of documents classified and unclassified that Walls is named in, asking for those documents, and says that it will continue to investigate.
This sounds far-fetched.
Until you learn that, in his own telling, Tim Walls has visited China some 30 times.
It sounds far-fetched until you remember the Democrats replaced their nominee after all the primaries, because their old nominee, the current president, is senile.
And they weren't able to remove the Republican nominee from the ballot, or imprison the Republican nominee, or murder the Republican nominee, even though they tried twice, and one time they got pretty close.
It all sounds far-fetched until you remember that this is the craziest election in American history.
And a Manchurian VP candidate from Minnesota would be par for the course.
Though we probably won't hear anything about it during the debate tonight because, much like in Communist China, our establishment media are little more than propagandists for the increasingly absurd ruling class.
I'm Michael Knowles.
This is The Michael Knowles Show.
Welcome back to the show.
We have today a clip that's resurfaced from a couple years ago in which Kamala Harris explains why white people should get less disaster relief than non-white people when things like hurricanes occur.
We'll get to that in one moment.

The fact that Kamala Harris can even pretend to be a serious presidential candidate shows you just how crazy our system has gotten.
Mike Cernovich made a great point yesterday on Twitter.
He pointed out that Mike Dukakis running in 1992 against George H.W.
Bush Dukakis, I'm sorry, running in 1988 against George H.W.
Bush.
Mike Dukakis was a pretty strong candidate who, as governor, let one guy, Willie Horton, out of prison for a weekend.
And Willie Horton went out and committed a crime.
And because of this, Mike Dukakis' entire campaign fell apart.
Cernovich pointed out, compare that to today.
You have A border czar and vice president, who is now the Democrat presidential nominee, who has, according to Immigration and Customs statistics, presided over some 13,000 murderers In the country, convicted murderers in the country, illegal aliens, had no right to be in the country in the first place.
And this is barely an election issue.
So, the White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was asked about this shocking number, 13,000 convicted murderers in the country illegally.
How on earth can this administration defend that?
Here is her response.
13,000 people who have been convicted of murder crossed the border illegally and are living among us.
So how much danger are U.S.
communities in right now because of this?
I'm assuming you're talking about the ICE data?
Yes.
So just a couple of things, and I think it's important to correct the record here.
First of all, the false representation of the data I shared.
So that was what we were seeing, false representation.
I got to call that out.
We got to call that out.
And it's been fact-checked by some of your colleagues here, by multiple outlets that has been debunked on what has been falsely misrepresented here.
So we have to call that out.
And so, look, this is... - What the misrepresentation is?
The numbers that is being put out about how many people are out has been falsely represented here.
So, hold on.
She goes on, but just quickly.
Hey, what about the 13,000 convicted murderers who you guys have let into the country?
Oh, you're probably talking about the ICE data, right?
The ICE data are data from the federal government.
So Karine Jean-Pierre can't deny the data because the data are coming out of her own administration saying 13,000 convicted murderers have come into the country illegally and the Biden administration is basically fine with it.
So then she says, yeah, well, the problem with those data is that they're fake.
They're being misrepresented.
They're being misrepresented.
They're being falsely represented.
OK, and what's her evidence of this?
Well, because people have debunked them because of how falsely misrepresented they've become.
And so they're debunked and they're totally debunked.
And we're going to call it out, OK?
We're going to call it out because many people have debunked them.
So her argument is.
These are data from the federal government, but don't believe them because they should not be believed.
And so Ducey rightly says, OK, well, how have they been misrepresented?
You're going to have to give me a little bit more than these are not the droids you're looking for.
Don't believe your lying eyes.
And she says, well, the numbers is she actually says that the numbers is so not only does this woman not have a grasp on statistics, Not only does this woman not have a grasp on crime data, and I don't really even mean to call out this woman, just as she's calling out the supposedly misrepresented information.
She is representative of the whole administration.
She is the face of the whole administration.
Not only can she not process these numbers, she cannot speak the English language properly.
Her job Her whole job is to speak well and to persuasively articulate what the administration is doing.
She can't speak English properly.
You know who else can't speak English properly?
It's not just her.
I'm really not just beating up on her.
Kamala Harris.
Kamala Harris babbles like a new-age woo-woo wine mom.
Talking about Venn diagrams and school buses and cackling when words fail her, which is frequently.
You know who else can't speak the English language properly?
The president, Joe Biden.
Remember him?
Joe Biden can't speak.
That's why when he engaged in a debate with Donald Trump, he ceased to be the Democrat nominee for president.
There's a line from the historian David McCullough.
He says, to write well is to think clearly, which is why it's so hard.
We can extend that to speech more broadly.
To speak well is to think clearly.
That's why it's so hard.
These people can't speak well, not just because they flunked the third grade or something.
They can't speak well because they can't think clearly.
Because they have no answer.
Because even if Corine Jean-Pierre were the most articulate woman in the entire world, She would not be able to defend what is indefensible, and that is that the Biden-Harris administration have gleefully allowed 13,000 convicted murderers into the country.
Or tolerate, I should be even more precise, have tolerated the presence of 13,000 convicted murderers who have come into this country illegally, and they've welcomed many, many more people, unvetted, to come into the country illegally.
There's so much more to say.
First, though, tax nulls to $98, $98, $98.
Kamala Harris's economic plan is a disaster.
Get ready for massive tax hikes and almost 40% top income tax rates, 7% increase to corporate tax, and ridiculous capital gains tax on unrealized gains that would destroy the entire economy.
Also, that she can add almost $2 trillion to a current $2 trillion deficit.

Corinne Jean-Pierre goes on.
If you look at the total returns and removal of the past year, that has been higher than every year under the previous administration since 2010, if you look at it.
And if we're going to report something, a data that's out there, we've got to do it in a way that is not confusing the American people and certainly not lying.
Again, I really don't mean to be pedantic about this, but it is illustrative of the broader confusion in the administration.
She says, a data.
Data is a plural noun.
The singular of data is datum.
She says, if we're going to talk about a data, what is a data?
Because, don't forget, what's the point she's making?
We don't want to confuse the American people.
Are you more or less confused after hearing this woman ramble and try to evade the question?
And we certainly don't want to lie to the American people.
Well, you have certainly been lying to us the whole time.
You've told us you're going to enforce the law, you're going to respect the law and the Constitution, you're going to defend democracy, and yet you have consistently and intentionally undermined perhaps the most basic aspect of the law, which is the distinction between citizens and foreigners.
She finishes up.
And so there has been, this has been fact-checked, been fact-checked.
And so this is the way that is being falsely represented here is just not okay.
And they'll got to be really clear about that.
Yeah, it's not okay.
We got to be really clear.
That was so clear.
Notice the trick.
The trick is...
Corinne Jean-Pierre comes out and has to answer for government data from ICE.
13,000 convicted murderers come into the country illegally.
And her response is, well, that claim has been fact-checked and debunked.
By whom?
If something is going to be fact-checked and debunked, it should be by her.
She's the spokesman for the administration.
She says, no, it's already been fact-checked and debunked.
By whom?
She's referring to the liberal media.
Then you go to the liberal media, you say, okay, how has this been fact-checked and debunked?
And they'll give you a little context maybe, but often they'll just point and they'll say, well, no, look at Karine Jean-Pierre.
Look at the administration.
The administration actually says that it's been debunked and fact-checked.
By whom?
It's like an Ouroboros, you know, it's a snake eating its own tail.
It's a totally circular argument.
I'll stop beating up on this press secretary.
After one final comparison, this administration In the greatest, strongest country on earth, freest country, most magnificent global hegemon country.
We have been so degraded, and this administration is an example of how degraded we have become, that the White House Press Secretary, in her response to pretty basic questions from the press, sounds almost exactly like Charlie Day from Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
Let's talk about the contract.
Sorry, I forgot.
Where did you go to law school again?
I could ask you that very same question.
I went to Harvard.
How about you?
I'm pleading the fifth, sir.
I didn't- Advise that you do that.
And I'll take that advice into cooperation, all right?
Now, let's say you and I go toe-to-toe on Byrd Law and see who comes out the victor.
The reason the murderers aren't in the country is because it's in numbers that have been falsely misrepresented by data that has filibuster Byrd Law.
That's pretty much the response of the Biden-Harris administration, and it's basically the best response they could give.
President Trump, meanwhile, has made a great point, a very important point about the meaning, the deeper political meaning of the intentional disaster that has occurred on Kamala Harris's watch at the southern border.
Millions and millions of people, 21 million plus, have been dumped into the United States, and many of them are murderers.
Many of them are Horrible criminals.
What Kamala Harris has done is unforgivable.
It's a crime what she did.
It's got to be criminal.
There's no greater act of disloyalty than to extinguish the sovereignty of your own nation, and that's what she's done.
She's ruined our nation.
She's ruined our nation.
There is no greater act of disloyalty than to extinguish the sovereignty of your own nation.
That is 100% accurate, that is 100% eloquent, pithy, and it is 100% precise.
Absolutely right.
And what is Trump including in that thesis, which is totally, unimpeachably correct?
He's saying Kamala Harris Has power here.
She is the one in charge of the border.
That is true.
Joe Biden said that.
We have the White House transcript from 2021.
And the effect of her policies is to extinguish the sovereignty of our country.
That is also true.
When you welcome millions and millions of people into the country, and then you register them to vote in many cases, or at the very least, you put them on a pathway to citizenship.
You try to give them amnesty at the soonest possible moment, and then eventually give them rights to vote.
You are extinguishing the sovereignty of your country, the citizens of your country, who did not want any of that to happen, who are now having their votes watered down and nullified by the new people that you're flooding into the country.
That is exactly what Kamala Harris is doing.
You don't need to take my word for it.
You can hear Kamala in her own words not so long ago.
The idea that we would have a president of the United States that vilifies immigrants, that wants to build what I call his vanity project, a multi-billion dollar wall, which by the way will never get built.
Is un-American.
Deal with the problem.
We have 11 million people here who need a pathway to citizenship.
Be a leader on that.
But we're not going to get that out of this president.
What we're not going to get out of this president is someone who approaches people who are fleeing the murder capitals of the world and does what is reflective of American values, which is to understand the strength of our arms to embrace people who are fleeing harm.
No, that's not what this president does.
They arrive at our border and he says go back to where you came from.
That is not reflective of the values of who we are as Americans, and that's what informs my perspective on what he is doing on this issue and so many others.
Who are we?
Who are we then?
Kamala Harris makes no distinction between Americans and non-Americans, manifestly.
She says, we can't have a wall, we can't have any mechanism to keep people out of the country when they're not supposed to be here, and for the people who did make it in illegally, the many, many millions of people who made it in illegally, we need to make them citizens.
And then she says, because that's who we are.
But then my question to her is, well, who are we?
You are saying that there is no distinction between us and everybody else.
There's no distinction between America and countries that are not America.
So then who are we?
What makes us distinctively American and so different than those other murder capitals of the world?
I look around America.
I see some murder, some potential murder capitals of the world springing up in our Democrat-led cities.
Who are we then?
The very fact that Kamala wants us to be some kind of special country that isn't allowed to enforce its own rules, isn't allowed to have its own identity, isn't allowed to be sovereign, to have its own sovereignty, is undermined.
The notion that America is distinct is undermined by the very policies she's advocating.
This is a major weakness for Kamala.
This is why she's changed her tune about it on the campaign trail.
In fact, you saw in a Kamala Harris campaign ad, she stole footage of Trump's wall, which she said will not be built, would be horrible if it would be built, and won't work anyway.
But now when she's running for re-election, she's, or is it re-election?
I guess she's sort of the incumbent, she's sort of not the incumbent.
But as she's running, she's stealing footage of Trump's wall because she knows.
Walls are popular.
People know that walls work.
And people do want America to be sovereign.
And that woman has betrayed her country.
As vice president, certainly.
As borders are, certainly.
And even before that, she has betrayed her country by undermining the sovereignty of her own country.
Meanwhile, President Trump has just met, speaking of foreigners, has just met with one of the most famous foreigners in the world, Vladimir Zelensky, the leader of Ukraine, and the meeting was very good news for Donald Trump.
It was kind of funny to watch how unpleasant Zelensky found the whole affair.
There's so much more to say.

President Trump has just met with the leader of Ukraine who was previously campaigning for Kamala Harris practically in Pennsylvania.
Well, Zelensky made a little time to meet with President Trump.
Here's what Trump had to say standing shoulder to shoulder with the head of Ukraine.
He wants it to end and he wants it to end as quickly as possible.
He wants a fair transaction to take place and I think I mean right now I'm campaigning so right now I don't have much to do with it other than we're doing very well in terms of the campaign and I've been saying that I believe if I win, we're going to have a very fair and I think actually rather rapid deal.
It should stop.
And the president wants it to stop.
And I'm sure President Putin wants it to stop.
And that's a good combination.
So we want to have a fair deal for everybody.
What do you envision is fair?
Well, it's too early to say that.
So the most interesting thing about this clip, well, two things.
It's not even really what President Trump is saying, which is what he said the whole time about Ukraine.
Look, it wouldn't happen on my watch, but we're going to have a good deal.
It's going to be good for everyone.
It's the art of the deal.
The more interesting thing is to look at Zelensky's face.
From the moment Trump starts talking, Zelensky looks like Trump is just slowly strangling his puppy, and there's nothing Zelensky can do about it.
This guy looks so resigned.
He looks so Sad and crestfallen.
And why is he taking it?
Why is he standing there next to Trump?
This is the really good news for Trump.
Because Zelensky thinks there's a decent chance Trump gets elected.
That's why.
If Kamala were way up in the polls, Zelensky would still be out there campaigning for her in Pennsylvania.
Going to the munitions factories, looking a gift horse in the mouth.
He'd be riding high.
But he thinks that Trump might win, and so he's got to get on Trump's good side.
And even if that means he's got to stand there while Trump talks about making a deal with Putin and winding down the war, Zelensky's got to just stand there and take it.
Now this is especially important as this horrific hurricane has just decimated towns in North Carolina especially, but all over the southeast, including here in my state of Tennessee.
It's just been absolutely brutal.
People have observed that the Biden-Harris administration has done basically nothing about it.
It's totally MIA.
And some people have wondered, okay, if you could, if North Carolina were just, I don't know if it were North Ukraine, if East Tennessee were Eastern Ukraine, well then you'd have billions and billions of dollars of support flooding in there.
But because it's just regular old American citizens, you don't hear much of anything at all.
Why is the federal response, why is the Biden-Harris response to this disaster that is unfolding in the Southeast, why is it so weak?
Non-existent, it seems.
Kamala Harris explained why a couple years ago in a clip.
She explained why it's so important when we think about disaster relief to give less of it to white people than we give to non-white people.
It is our lowest income communities and our communities of color that are most impacted by these extreme conditions and impacted by issues that are not of their own making.
And women.
Absolutely.
And so we have to address this in a way that is about giving resources based on equity, understanding that we fight for equality, but we also need to fight for equity, understanding not everyone starts out at the same place.
And if we want people to be in an equal place, sometimes we have to take into account those disparities and do that work.
Okay, a lot in there, a lot in Kamala's answer.
The first question, I was playing this clip yesterday, someone asked, hold on, what's the difference between equality and equity?
And the words really, you know, at a basic level mean the same thing, but the way that Kamala Harris is using them here, equality is a sort of classically liberal conception of equality.
You both start out in the same place.
She points out the reason we can't have that kind of equality is that we don't all start out in the same place.
And equity is communism, basically.
And it's not even communism in the sense that we all, you know, end up in exactly the same place.
No, in Kamala's version of it, some people are just going to be given preferential treatment based on their race or based on their party affiliation indefinitely.
But that's also how communism works in practice.
You know, everyone's equal but some people are more equal than others.
So, that's the difference.
Equality is a classical liberalism and, as she's describing it, it's a classical liberalism and equity is communism.
However, the deeper thing she's saying here is We're going to give more money to deal with environmental challenges, be they quotidian challenges, be they particular weather events.
We're going to give more money to non-white people than we are to white people.
The non-white people are more deserving.
The white people don't really deserve much of anything at all.
And not only is this what Kamala Harris thinks, this is how the system works.
It's not just about Kamala or just about Biden.
This is actually how the system works.
You remember when Hurricane Katrina happened, now what is it, almost 20 years ago?
This was the dominant news story, nationally and maybe internationally, for weeks and weeks and weeks.
You had the biggest stories in the world saying that George Bush, the president, doesn't care about black people, even though you had, you know, disaster relief all around Hurricane Katrina, all around New Orleans.
There were all of these criticisms made about the weaknesses of the disaster relief.
This was a major racial issue.
We're still talking about Hurricane Katrina.
This hurricane just happened to white people in North Carolina, in eastern Tennessee, and around the southeast.
This hurricane just happened to them and nobody's talking about it.
You hear a little bit about it on some of the conservative shows, maybe on this show, you hear maybe a mention of it in the establishment media, but it's nothing like, it's totally incomparable to the response we saw to Hurricane Katrina.
Because Hurricane Katrina affected black people, and this also affected some black people, but this hurricane largely affected white people.
And Kamala Harris is telling you in her own words, it matters more when weather events affect non-white people than when they affect white people.
We should care more about the non-white people.
We should care less about the white people.
That's why, so you don't need to take my word for it.
I don't think, I'm not big into spinning all sorts of conspiracies, but I am willing to listen to what the Democrat nominee for president is saying, and she didn't even say this all that long ago.
And you were seeing that playing out in the establishment media, because the establishment media are nothing but the propaganda wing for the liberal establishment.
That's their relation to the Democrat party and to Kamala Harris, who's the nominee.
And you might say that part of the reason we don't really see much disaster relief for the people affected by this awful hurricane is because we don't really have a president right now.
Kamala's off campaigning, and Joe Biden has no idea what day it is.
The most embarrassing clip of the day, I'm sure there will be another one soon enough, is President Biden being asked his opinion about the Israeli strikes in Yemen.
And here is his response to the Israeli strikes in Yemen.
Mr. President, will you deploy more US troops to the Middle East?
Mr. President, has Netanyahu gone too far?
Any comment on the strikes in Yemen, Mr. President?
- Go for the strike.
The cops set the strike.
Support the collective bargaining effort.
I think they'll settle the strike. - I'm almost left speechless by that response.
What's your response to the strikes in Yemen?
I think the longshoremen are gonna get on okay if they just negotiate better and then the both sides... He thinks he's talking about the port workers strike.
The longshoremen labor strike on the East Coast and in the Gulf.
He's confusing the gulfs.
He's talking about the Gulf of Mexico instead of Florida, instead of the Persian Gulf.
This is pretty weak, man.
And this is why Bibi Netanyahu is going hog wild on Israel's enemies.
This is why, the story just broke yesterday, Israel has launched a ground invasion into Lebanon.
You know, a lot of the big Israel critics have been wrong at pretty much every stage of the war.
So they won't go into Gaza.
Israel won't go into Gaza.
Israel goes into Gaza.
Israel won't go into southern Lebanon.
No, they're just trying to scare them by blowing up the pagers and blowing their crotches off and, you know, blowing up the beepers and then hitting the airstrikes and then taking out the head of not only Hamas, but then taking out the head of Hezbollah just a few days ago.
And then what happened last night?
They also invaded southern Lebanon.
Why is this happening now?
It's happening now in part because there is effectively no American president.
So, Netanyahu has a little more free reign to do whatever he wants, and Netanyahu feels that the U.S.
can't be counted on to back up Israel, so Israel's just going to do it itself.
Now, I've pointed out that the American interest in the Middle East is not to have escalation that leads to a major regional war.
And that's always been the risk of Israel prolonging its response to the October 7th massacre by Hamas.
Now we're coming up on almost a year and I'll be speaking at UC Berkeley, I'll be speaking on the one-year anniversary which is an important date in many other ways too.
I'll be speaking about wars in the Middle East and the Crusades and should be fun time over at UC Berkeley.
However, Netanyahu, you'll notice, Has done a pretty good job at it.
I think even, I was speaking to a friend of mine the other day, who's fairly critical of Israel, who's a little skeptical of Mr. Netanyahu, who said, you know, the guy's very impressive.
No matter how skeptical you are of Israel and the Israeli foreign policy, no matter what trepidation you have about America getting pulled into a war, which I certainly do share, this guy's done a pretty good job.
He's gone in, he's completely decimated Hamas.
He's then gone in and completely decimated Iran's other proxy that attacks Israel, Hezbollah.
He's severely weakened Iran itself.
I don't know, the guy's doing a pretty good job.
Now, regardless of what you think about that war, however, There is this strange paradox, which I keep pointing out, and it shows you again, as we were talking about in the earlier part of the show, how extraordinarily complex and bizarre this election is.
Anytime Israel is in the news, that is good for the Republicans.
So, if this war escalates, that's probably bad for America.
But it's especially bad for Joe Biden because he's holding the bag, which means it's bad for Kamala Harris because Israel's a wedge issue for the Democrats, which means it's good for Donald Trump, which means it's more likely to get him elected, which means it's good for America.
And by the way, while Biden is not interfering in the Middle East and sending things to hell in a handbasket after President Trump established relative peace in the Middle East with the Abraham Accords, while he's doing that, Bibi Netanyahu's settling score is doing it pretty effectively.
All in all, I think this is pretty good, but it's complicated.
I'm not denying it's complicated.
We are going to hear, probably we won't even hear this tonight at the vice presidential debate, because the moderators are going to try to avoid the topic of Israel as best they can, because it hurts the Democrats.
They're going to try to avoid Tim Walz's apparent connections to the Chinese Communist Party as best they can.
Maybe J.D.
Vance will bring it up.
The VP debate is tonight.
We are hosting a special backstage with pre-show analysis from Ben Shapiro, Matt Walsh, Andrew Clavin, Jeremy Boring, and let's say most importantly, yours truly, stick around for a post-debate breakdown with insights you will not hear anywhere else.

My favorite comment yesterday is from Mrs. Nichols Porvita says, please come to Berkeley, Michael.
I would love to see you speak about the Crusades or anything for that matter.
Yeah, well, it'll be happening next week.
I guess the most liberal school in the country, probably.
I will be there on what is it?
I guess it's on Monday, October 7th.
So, if you are at UC Berkeley, get your ticket.
You can go to yaf.org.
I think they've got the information there.
If you are just in the area, if you're around San Francisco or wherever, it's open to the public, so just go get your ticket.
It should be a lot of fun, and we will be discussing an extraordinarily misunderstood historical event, the Crusades, and the misunderstanding about that event is why we're very confused about a lot of things, especially in the Holy Land today.
Now, speaking of politics, speaking of education, like over at Berkeley, there's a viral graph that is showing something probably many of us have seen anecdotally.
These data come from the perception gap.
You can pour through the broader study if you like, but the gap shows that Democrats have fewer Republican friends as they get more education credentials, whereas Republicans Pretty much keep the same number of Democrat friends whether they are grade school educated or whether they have PhDs.
The x-axis is less educated to more educated.
Now this is a little imprecise because holding a bachelor's degree or a master's degree or even a PhD today does not necessarily imply that one is more educated or better educated.
But it shows you got more credentials.
The y-axis is percent of people saying almost all of my friends hold the same political views.
What does this show?
It shows that libs are more exclusionary.
I've even seen this with friends of mine who are very liberal, but you know in high school they don't really care.
They're friends with Republicans, but as they start to go on, especially if they go to graduate school, they just will cease to be friends with Republicans.
I've seen it happen with my own two eyes.
They're more exclusionary, they're less open-minded, which is ironic because they pretend that they're very open-minded.
But also the other thing that this shows is just a raw political fact, which is that the left dominates universities and the professional careers.
That's really what it's about.
Because you become friends usually just with the people around you.
There's three kinds of friendship.
Friendship of pleasure, you know, like hobbies.
Friendship of utility, like networking.
And then friendship of the good, virtuous friendship.
And virtuous friendship is not really predicated on geographic proximity or, you know, having lunch together or something.
But the other two kinds, which are much more prominent in our age, which mocks the very concept of virtue and classical philosophy.
Those are dependent on where you are, and so the left dominates the universities and the professional careers, so it's no surprise.
If you're a Republican, you end up in some lib school, which is statistically most of the universities.
Then, just, if you're going to have friends at all, a greater percentage of your friends are going to be of a different political persuasion.
If you go and work at Deloitte, or you go work at Goldman Sachs or something, Just necessarily, if you're going to have friends at all, a greater percentage of your friends are going to have a different political view than you, because those places, the universities, are what, 90% plus left-wing, and the professions are probably about the same, Democrat versus Republican.
So that's really, it shows you just a cold hard political fact.
Yes, the libs are closed-minded.
Yes, the libs are prejudiced and in a bad way.
They're bigoted in a really nasty way and everything.
But it's also they just have political power.
And so maybe this should inspire Republicans to not just to wag our fingers and say, you guys are closed-minded.
You need to be more open-minded.
But maybe it should inspire Republicans to attain power in those places where the Where the Democrats start to become exclusionary.
It looks like it's right after high school.
You can't quite tell on the less-to-more-educated axis of the graph, but looks like right around high school, right when the libs start to... The libs don't control every high school in the country.
Right around high school, starting the universities and the professions, that's where they start to get their power.
So maybe we should take some power back there as well.
You want to talk about the bubble of the credentialed liberal class.
An editor of Mother Jones, a very left-wing magazine, has just gone viral, this woman Clara Jeffrey.
Because of a harrowing experience she apparently had on an Alaska Airlines flight.
Her words, creeping Christian nationalism alert, Alaska Air flight attendant just wished us a blessed night as we landed in San Francisco to groans.
Other adjectives that would have sufficed, great, awesome, fabulous, amazing, fantastic, As my roommate said, this ain't Montgomery, sweetie.
Can you imagine?
That woman, this creeping Christian nationalist, this woman wished people a blessed night.
I hope, for this Mother Jones editor's sake, that she never sneezes.
Can you imagine how horrified she would be?
Could be the case that multiple people around her would have the audacity to say, God bless you.
Could you imagine?
What's funny is she doesn't know the meaning of some of these words too, like awesome.
Awesome comes from the same word as awful, it refers to awe.
Awe, which relates to holy fear, the sublime.
God is awesome, right?
He's the most awesome, you would say.
This woman is allergic, speaking of sneezes, to anything even touching on religion.
It's kind of like, it's the bell curve meme, it's the IQ bell curve meme, where the really dumb drooling guy and the really smart Jedi guy think the same thing and it's the midwit in the middle who makes it too complicated.
The drooling dumb guy is going to say, oh duh, kind of seems like these people hate God.
And then the midwit is going to explain, no, but actually it has to do with an understanding and a developing conception of the separation of church and state and the pluralism that is so important to our democratic society where you can't presume that people have the same religious views.
But then the smart guy at the end, he just said, yeah, they hate God.
That's really what it is, they hate God.
And they hate God because they themselves want to be gods, and they want to control everything around them, and they want to be totally sovereign, and they want to be immortal, and they want to be gods.
And this is the kind of thing that has been nagging at human nature since Eve reached for that apple in the Garden of Eden, and it's been a problem ever since.
It's our pride, and it goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall.
Bless her heart.
Bless that woman's heart.
Now, speaking of lunatics, one last little bit before we go.
I don't even know if this event occurred recently again.
It occurs pretty regularly, so, you know, it's a perennial news story.
But Just Stop Oil, this radical environmentalist group, has gone viral again for throwing soup on a Van Gogh painting.
And they seem to target Van Gogh with some frequency, but Here's what's interesting is not what they have done, which they've done many, many times and will continue to do many times in the future.
It's how the crowd in the museum reacts.
People in prison demanding an end to do oil and gas, something which is now government policy.
After sustained interruptions, countless headlines, and the resulting political pressure, future generations will regard these prisoners of conscience to be on the right side of history.
So you hear the crowd yelling, what's wrong with you people?
Now in an earlier age, I think a more civilized age, those vandals would have been tackled as they were attempting to destroy beautiful art.
But at least the crowd is expressing its disapproval.
It doesn't like this.
So it comes down to a basic question of what kind of freedom we're going to have.
Are we going to protect the freedom of lunatics to destroy beautiful things, or are we going to protect the freedom of people to preserve beautiful things?
That's really the question of freedom.
And even as we're thinking about holy war, war in the Middle East, I think we oversimplify things.
And the modern historical approach is to say it's all about money.
It's all just about money and plunder and land and stuff.
And that's what motivated the Crusaders, it's what motivated the founding of the State of Israel, it's what motivates whichever side.
Even sometimes people on the right will say, that's what's motivating Iran, or that's what's motivating this side or that side.
But people, believe it or not, are motivated by more than money.
In an age that doesn't take religion seriously, we don't really believe that anymore.
But in this way, the just-up oil people can be instructive.
Because these people are going to jail, they're going to lose money, they're going to lose their resources.
For a cause that they believe in, that is not material, that they think is about really saving the whole world.
People really can be motivated.
We don't understand it anymore because we've ignored true religion.
But, you know, nature of course is a vacuum, man's a religious creature, so some kind of religion, true or false, is going to come in its place.
People really can be motivated by things that are immaterial.
Even if they are quite false and compromise all of our freedom and our flourishing.
