Uh heard firsthand accounts from a lot of people there uh about uh the response they were getting from Fafima as well as their own insurance companies.
Uh and they have now landed at LAX.

Uh now apparently Governor Gavin Newsom uh has been seen waiting on the tarmac for the president to depart, wasn't or depart from the plane, Air Force One.
It was not uh weren't really sure if the governor was going to be there.
The White House has said uh this is the first they've heard about it, yeah, according to some uh reports from some other outlets.
So uh it's kind of a waiting game there.
And now you see President Trump stepping off the plane along with the first lady.
And the president and the first lady, they'll be meeting with homeowners, have we been mentioning, who lost everything in those fires.
The president also expected to take part in a briefing with congressional leaders.
These are lead leaders uh from both sides of the aisle, Democrats and Republicans.
Mayor Bass is also gonna be part of those discussions.
You see Governor Newsom there, that exchange that uh uh they hate each other anticipating um because of early reports saying that the governor wouldn't be there, then his office clarifying he would.
So it seems as if for right now it's cordial, like a bunch of the Democrats were all mad, like, oh uh look, look at him.
Look at how weaky he looks uh next to uh Gavin Newsom.
Look how he towers over Trump.

The problem with FEMA is they come from all over the country.
They end up in arguments with your people from California because they want to do it a totally different way.

It's one of the great disasters of all time.
And Mr. President, you can't have Rhode Island maintain a staff of thousands and thousands of people waiting to see if they have a disaster.
You know who came in and fixed North Carolina or the process?
Other states, people from all over the country came, and you have the same thing.
You have a lot of people from all over the country.
Getting the people is not a problem.
Getting the organization's a big problem.
FEMA's incompetently run, and it costs about three times more than it should cost.
I'm hoping we can spend money on schools instead of giving money to bureaucracy.
It takes you so much longer.

FEMA has a standard, Brad, and I'm a builder.

FEMA has a standard that's so slow.
They want permit on permit on permit, and then they want permits on top of that.
If you use per FEMA, you'll be here for a long time.
What I'm saying is get the city, get the the state to give you immediate 24-hour permits.
These people are gonna build their own homes, they're gonna get them built fast.
I'll also be signed in an executive order to begin the process of fundamentally reforming and overhauling FEMA, or maybe getting rid of FEMA.
I think frankly, FEMA's not good.
I think when you have a problem like this, I think you want to go and uh whether it's a Democrat or Republican governor, you want to use your state to fix it and not waste time calling FEMA, and then FEMA gets here and they don't know the area, they've never been to the area, and They want to give you rules that you've never heard about.
They want to bring people that aren't as good as the people you already have.
And FEMA's turned out to be a a disaster.
And you could go back a long way.
You could go back to Louisiana, you could go back to some of the things that took place in Texas.
It it turns out to be the state that ends up doing the work.
It just complicates it.
I think we're gonna recommend that FEMA go here.

Um we pay directly, we pay a percentage to the state.
But the state should fix this.
If the state did this from the beginning, it would have been a lot better situation.

And just like you said, if somebody had their house was destroyed and they're gonna rebuild essentially the same, maybe a little bit longer, a little bit higher, they really shouldn't have to go through much of a process.

She is uh she's a current DHS secretary.
Um her name is Christy Lynn Arnold Gnome, uh, born November 30, 1971, is an American politician who is currently serving as the eighth U.S. Secretary of Homeland Securities since 2025, serving under President Donald Trump in his second term.
She previously served as the 33rd governor of South Dakota from 2019 to 2025, resigning after being confirmed as Secretary of Homeland Security.
Um a member of the Republican Party.
She was U.S. representative for South Dakota's at-large congressional district from 2011 to 2019, and a member of the South Dakota House of Representatives for the 6th district from 2007 to 2011.
Um, you know, I know she lived on a farm.

Yes, and this really also just shows what the Biden administration hasn't been doing because a lot of these people are sitting in local jails.
The people they say lodge detainers on, those are people in jail that the previous administration just didn't even bother to lodge detainers on.
And a lot of these other people they know exactly where they are, and they have known that that's the only reason they were able to get them.
But I think a lot of the things this administration is doing, you know, one of the things Stephen Miller talked about, I think on Friday on Fox was about how they're creating task forces with local law enforcement and all the federal agencies to go after the illegal migrants and the criminals.
And this is really more than a full force multiplier because this is something the federal government routinely does with drug traffickers, gangs, human traffickers, and you get the experience of the local law enforcement in terms of locating people with the federal expertise of federal law enforcement.
So it really is going to the numbers are gonna skyrocket from these numbers, which are already at about a thousand a day.
The administration taking some heat for how they are being described as going after folks.
