The group of renegade Orthodox Jewish men desperately tried to get into their tunnel (preview)
TODAY: We sensitively and even gracefully cover the Hasidic Tunnel in Brooklyn--dug by entitled Gen Z snowflakes trying to create a safe space in the walls of their basement synagogue. We address the weirdness of the situation, the open anti-semitism it triggered, and share our own ideas of what the tunnel was for and whether it's cool. PLUS: Billionaire Bill ACKMAN gets blowback after leading the charge against former Harvard President Claudine Gay's alleged antisemitism and plagiarism, when Business Insider reports that his own wife, Neri Oxman, plagiarized wikipedia in her dissertation. He naturally overreacts and Barbara-Streisands the public into remembering his wife's connections to Jeffrey Epstein. I'm unsure how to open the episode, because we're talking about a sensitive subject, and there's no room for sensitivity in the intros to this program.
You know what I mean?
Yeah.
So, maybe I'll just do it.
Maybe I'll just say it.
Alright.
I'm Alexander Edward.
And I'm Tony Boswell.
And we are Minion Death Cult.
The world is ending.
Hasidic Jew tunnels in New York City are responsible, and we're documenting it.
What's up, everybody?
Just another fun, fancy-free episode of Minion Death Cult.
Nothing we have to tiptoe around.
Normal stuff, really.
Just normal, regular stuff.
There's really no other way to describe it.
This is a recent event happened in New York City, in Brooklyn, that seems primed for this show.
It seems primed to generate the sort of responses that this show thrives on and documents.
I was just maybe concerned if we didn't have, you know, maybe the right frame of reference to help people understand what was going on.
Yeah.
You know.
Like a disclaimer.
This is literal.
This is just an actual description.
You know, Tony and I were both Italian, which is close, but not quite the same thing.
But, I did find some pretty sober reporting that I think will speak for itself here from the New York Post.
Excellent, excellent.
Actually, I'm going to read from the ABC one first.
Crown Heights, Brooklyn, WABC.
Police say nine worshippers were arrested amid a dispute over a tunnel secretly dug into the side of a historic Brooklyn synagogue, setting off a brawl between police and those who tried to defend the makeshift passageway.
Have you seen this video, Tony?
Yeah, it's pretty wild.
They're like fighting with the cops.
There's like 60 Hasids in this room, and when the cops start arresting the people who have wedged themselves into the tunnels, the room erupts.
They had to spray them with pepper spray.
There's a couple moments where like you see someone kind of coming across the frame and you're like, they're going to bump a cop.
They're going to go bump.
They're going to go.
They're going to go throw a shoulder to a cop right now.
All right.
And you just watch that.
You just watch that guy and he jumps over a few tables and yeah.
He just like plunges into them Yeah, I think like nine nine to twelve young men were arrested for fighting the cops at the synagogue It was very can probably like the most confusing thing to watch unfold like live With like just like tweet updates and stuff you know Very confusing.
An even more confusing part of this, and I don't even know if it's part of this, that video of the Hasid walking up out of the sewer grate and then running as soon as he gets to the surface.
Is that the same tunnel?
I think so.
I saw the thing is I also saw that grate being cut I'm assuming earlier someone cutting that grate and I don't know who that person was.
I saw them putting the grate back together Is that what I was seeing then?
I don't know see what I'm saying?
But I saw that grate being worked on I assumed cutting the whole because it was kind of bizarre that the grate had a grate like not Not the whole grate came out, just the middle of the grate came out.
Yeah, there was a chunk in the middle that you see the hat come out of first.
I feel like if this was a regularly used trapdoor or passageway, it would be... Not true.
Not true at all.
You haven't seen videos of...
What are homeless people like living in the sewers getting in and out of the sewers through like huge cracks in the sidewalk?
Uh, yeah, I have.
Yeah.
But I'm saying, but like, I'm saying you go, you get on, you're trying to go underground.
You just don't engage on the actual grade.
Beggars can't be choosers, Tony.
How many fucking entrances to underground do you think there are?
Oh, this one's not nice enough for me.
Oh, okay.
Let's walk.
Let's walk one block over.
Go to the one that has an escalator.
And sewer caps are so heavy.
People don't talk about that.
That's why the turtles are able to do that because they're super strong.
But regular people, those things are fucking heavy.
I have to hedge my, you know, whatever, my reactions to these videos, at least for like a week or so, just to make sure that they're not like AI developed by a 4chan user.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You know what I mean?
Like this is, this is like this, this stuff of a, of a based Facebook group fever dream.
