April 15th, Pandemic.News update from Mike Adams here.
One of the silver linings of this horrific global pandemic is that it has given us all a chance to either test out our level of preparedness or find weaknesses in our current preparedness plans so that we can make adjustments and be ready for the next bigger thing that's coming.
And I do believe something bigger is coming.
I've seen FEMA taking actions that really don't translate into this being just a pandemic.
FEMA's doing things that indicate FEMA believes There's something way bigger coming, like millions of casualties from a battlefield or something like that.
I don't know what FEMA's planning for exactly, but it's bigger than this pandemic.
And other actions by the president, you know, declaring the national emergency, having the feds seize personal protective equipment from hospitals, plus the Pentagon ordering top military commanders to go under Cheyenne Mountain.
You know, the NORAD protection bunker.
I mean, these are not things that you normally do just from a pandemic.
Trump ordering the activation of up to one million military reservists who have medical skills.
That's, again, not just a pandemic, something bigger.
But what about you and your personal preparedness plans?
How did you do so far?
I found weaknesses in my own plan, but I've also found a lot of strengths and confirmations that the things I did as a prepper for more than two decades, they were the right things.
For example, I've got tons of food, and I've barely even started to eat any of the stored foods.
I think I've had maybe three meals out of the storage that I have.
And aside from that, I've just been eating what I can get every day.
I've been hatching chickens, you may know.
I've got, I think, a dozen chickens now that have hatched.
They're a few days old.
I started putting eggs in the incubator on March 20th.
And most of them have hatched.
Not all of them, but quite a few.
But one of the weaknesses in my own preparedness planning was that I did not have enough daily egg output on my ranch.
I was down to like six eggs a day or something.
And really, you want to have more than that, especially if you want to barter with people.
So I'm raising several dozen baby chicks and...
A few months down the road, I'll have, you know, a few dozen eggs a day again for a couple more years as those hens lay eggs.
Personally, I found that I've been in great shape in terms of ammunition preparedness.
I did not have to buy any ammo.
I did barter for some additional ammo just to help out a friend who needed some food.
So he gave me some ammo.
I gave him some Ranger buckets from the Health Ranger store, and that worked out great.
He distributed those to some of his family members who did not have stored food.
So I was happy to take 9mm ammo in that case in exchange for that food.
That was, you know, just something to help people out.
But I didn't need any firearms.
I didn't need any ammunition.
That's a good thing because ammo prices, of course, have skyrocketed and so have the prices on firearms.
But that just shows what a great investment ammunition is in terms of a preparedness item.
Instead of keeping money in the bank, if you've got excess savings, you could put it in ammo and you'd be doubling your money right now.
I mean, 9mm rounds that used to cost, I don't know, $0.18 a round are now, in some cases, well over $0.30 a round.
So you're almost doubling your money.
.556 ammunition is almost doubled as well.
.22 long rifle ammo, which I know is not that useful tactically, but it's a good barter item.
People use it for eliminating varmints and such.
Small hunting, squirrels, things like that.
Those rounds, just a few months ago, you could find them at $0.03 a round.
They're now definitely $0.06 to $0.07 even more per round, depending on where you can find them.
And one thing that I've noticed over the years is that the small calibers go up in price first.
So the.22LR rounds are the first thing people buy.
They get wiped out first.
And then 9mm And then maybe.40 cal and.45 ACP. And the smaller caliber rifle rounds also get wiped out first, like.556.
But typically, the price inflation doesn't creep into the higher caliber rounds until much later.
So.556 is more expensive now, and definitely.308 rounds or.762 rounds are more expensive.
But you can typically buy.300 Win Mag.
Or one of my favorites, 338 Lapua Magnum, those prices really have not gone up.
So if you've got a large rifle, and yeah, I've got a semi-automatic.300 Win Mag, for example, which is a very large, heavy platform.
It's made by Nemo, Nemo Arms, but it's a great rifle.
If you want to lay down some high caliber rounds, you know, quickly with 10 round magazines, it's a great rifle.
And those rounds are not that much more expensive than they used to be.
All right, enough on guns and ammo.
Let's talk about gold and silver.
How are you doing on your gold and silver supplies?
Because one of the things that happened because of the economic impacts of what's going on today is that silver and gold physically got totally wiped out.
So there is no more physical silver and gold in the marketplace anywhere.
I was lucky to be able to stock up on a little bit more silver, kind of a last-minute thing.
I mean...
I've always stored and saved some level of precious metals, but I felt like with the banks probably headed toward failure and the Federal Reserve printing money like mad and the national debt now $4 trillion for this year.
That's just the budget deficit for this year under a Republican president.
It's probably going to end up collapsing the value of the dollar.
So I thought, hey, it's a good idea to get some money out of the dollar, which is not even really money, it's just fiat currency, into something that is real money, which is silver and gold.
And if you don't think silver and gold are real money, ask why do the central banks buy gold and stockpile gold?
Because they know it's real money.
Why do all the wealthy elite of the world have huge stockpiles of gold and some silver?
Because it's real money.
It's money when everything else collapses.
So how did you do on your gold and silver?
Did you have enough supplies?
Did you have enough silver on hand if you needed to use silver for barter?
Did you have gold as a way to protect wealth?
Or did you have all your money in the banks?
Because the banks might fail, you know.
Did you have all your money in dollars?
Because dollars are a fake fiat currency.
It's a counterfeit currency printed up by the Federal Reserve.
Obviously, they printed trillions of dollars.
Trillions in the last month, which should tell you that's a bad currency to hold.
It should tell you that's going to collapse.
It's just a matter of when.
And whatever dollars you're left holding at the end of this, by the way, you will lose them.
Mark my words.
If you have $200,000 in the bank and you think that's what you're going to live on, maybe it's your savings, your pension fund, I don't know, you're going to lose the $200,000 because the dollar will collapse.
So if you're not converting that into other things that have value, then you're going to be out of luck.
Now, how are you doing on electricity and backup generators and such?
I had my diesel tank topped off at the beginning of all this, and this is one reason why I live in Central Texas, because it's very customary to have a large 500-gallon diesel tank in your yard and have a truck come out and fill it with diesel.
And the reason I choose diesel is because, as I've explained before, I like to have old John Deere tractors, and I have a PTO generator that connects to the tractor.
You start the tractor, you turn on the PTO, and it runs the generator.
And the generator, therefore, doesn't need its own diesel engine, so it's very inexpensive.
And then if you have an electrician come modify your circuit breaker box and put a transfer switch in place, you can plug in the generator to your main electricity.
And while you're disconnecting the grid, you can run your entire house or farm or business or whatever off this generator that's running off your tractor that's burning diesel.
And so if the power grid went down, I know I'd be able to keep power going for a couple of months probably on 500 gallons.
It doesn't take that much diesel to run a generator for a small amount of electrical usage.
But how did you do?
The power probably stayed on in your area.
We haven't seen the power grid go down, but what if it did go down?
What would you have done if there were a massive ice storm in the middle of this pandemic or a tornado or a hurricane or a volcano Earthquake or whatever.
What if a natural disaster collided with this?
Would you have been ready?
What if you had to bug out?
That would be a very bad situation, having to bug out in the middle of a pandemic.
Did you have a bug out bag ready?
If not, this is a great time to think about your bug out bag.
What's in it?
What's the duration of your bug-out?
What's your bug-out route?
What if there were an EMP weapon or a solar flare that took out electronics or took out satellites, maybe took down the power grid at the same time?
What if you had a bug-out on foot?
Do you have a topo map?
Do you have a compass?
Do you know how to read a compass and know where you're going, navigation skills?
You know, what about comms, radios, communications, all these things?
I know I was a little weak on the comms side, and I'm still trying to get my skills up on that.
And they're not nearly where I want them to be.
I wanted to have a ham radio license by this time, but I never prioritized that.
So I didn't end up with a ham radio license.
Not that you need a license in the middle of a collapse.
As long as you respect the rules of ham radio, you probably don't really need a license.
Not that they're going to run around enforcing anything in the middle of a Mad Max scenario, but it's certainly good to know what are the rules.
What are the frequencies that you need to use in your area?
Who are the other hammers that are online that you should know about?
What are the repeaters in your area?
All of this is good knowledge, very important knowledge.
And what about your farm animals if you have animals?
What about your children if you have kids in your home?
What about your financial situation?
Were you prepared to lose your job?
Were you prepared for the loss of income?
Did you have money set aside for a rainy day?
Big questions, right?
And a good time to QC, as we say, quality check your preparedness plans.
This is a crucial time because, again, I believe there's something much bigger coming.
I don't know exactly what that's going to be, but something bigger is coming.
Use this opportunity right now To critically think about the weaknesses of your current preparedness plans.
And then, of course, in the months ahead, hopefully as these lockdowns end, use that time to improve your preparedness.
Maybe you had a plan to move out of the city and buy a place in the country, and maybe you'll have a chance to do that later this year.
Of course, a lot of people will be doing that because, if anything, this whole thing has underscored the dangers of living in a city, right?
How you get locked down and you can't move and you can't leave your apartment in some cases?
Well, that's horrible.
I don't mean to make you jealous, but I was out collecting wild dewberries today on my farm and just eating fresh berries right off the vine.
They're just starting to come in.
So we all need to think ahead.
This is not the last time we're going to deal with something like this.
You could consider this to be a practice run, even though it's not practice.
This is real.
People are dying in huge numbers.
A couple days ago, 2,407 people died that day in the United States.
So it's not a drill.
It's not practice.
It's real.
But you can use it as a way to improve your preparedness from here forward.
And that's what I strongly suggest.
I'll help you stay alive.
I'll help you stay informed.
I'll help you in any way that I can remotely through these podcasts and other means.
