Hammond ranch and armed Oregon protesters: What you need to know
| Copy link to current segment

Time Text
Alright, this is a TalkNetwork.com news update, breaking news.
This is Mike Adams, the co-founder of TalkNetwork.com.
This is concerning the situation in Oregon where now the armed citizens have taken over a federal building.
They're occupying a Forest Reserve headquarters in Oregon.
And the entire mainstream media is referring to them as militia, even though they themselves don't necessarily refer to themselves as militia.
Truthfully, what these are is a bunch of people who are fed up with the total tyranny of the federal government.
And what's happening here, the background is that this family, the Hammond family, which has a ranch in Oregon, the ranch has been in the family for many generations, and And over the years, the BLM, that's the Bureau of Land Management, purchased the land around them, even though they refused to sell.
So the BLM has been trying to get their land for a long time because, of course, the federal government wants to take over pretty much all the open space in America.
And if you look at it right now, I think the federal government claims ownership of about maybe it's up to a third of all the land in the United States.
Owned, claimed by the federal government so they can, you know, control it and kick you off of it and.
Basically, they're trying to push people into the cities where they can control everybody and make you live in a 100-square-foot room where they can monitor you and monitor your internet usage and control your movements and everything else that they can do.
That's another story.
So to try to take over this land, the Hammond family has refused for many, many years.
And so a few years back, they were running a controlled burn fire, which ranchers do all over America, to keep the brush down.
And so you run these fires, you know, you set these fires on a calm day and you let them burn and it keeps the brush down, prevents fires from becoming really drastic fires.
You know, like later on, you don't want a lot of fuel to be building up on the ground because that makes fires worse when they do happen.
So they did a controlled burn.
It spread beyond what they intended and it burned, I think, 127 acres of BLM land.
Owned by the federal government, right?
Well, the feds then charge this family with terrorism.
Under all the new laws that have been passed since 9-11, you know, domestic terrorism laws, Patriot Act, and all that.
So they charged this family with actual terrorism.
Now, first of all, if this family were Muslims, the entire leftist media would be outraged at this idea that they're charged with terrorism for having a brush fire that got a little bit out of control and burned some grass on On federal land, there were no buildings hurt.
There were no animals hurt.
It just burned some grass.
You know, who cares?
So the fact that they are white and rural is what makes them the enemy of the state.
And this is why the leftist media is calling them, you know, militia and dangerous people and effectively supporting the federal government's position that they're terrorists.
But again, if they were Muslims, or if they were a black family of ranchers, the political left would be defending them and saying how ridiculous this is.
Oh my God, it's so ridiculous.
The feds charged them with terrorism?
So anyway, two members of the family go to jail.
Go to prison for I think almost a year.
They serve their sentence.
They're actually found guilty in a court.
The judge gives them a more lenient sentence.
See, the law calls for five years in prison for acts of terrorism.
And the judge said, well, that's kind of ridiculous.
These people were doing a controlled burn fire, got a little bit out of control, but they weren't committing terrorism.
And if they were, who did they terrorize?
In fact, Richard Mack said this yesterday when Pete Santilli was broadcasting live on site.
For talknetwork.com, Pete was talking to Sheriff Richard Mack, and Sheriff Mack said, well, if this is terrorism, who's the victim here?
To terrorize someone, there has to be a target.
Terrorism means to strike terror into the hearts and minds of people who are your intended victims.
So, you can't have an act of terrorism if no one's terrorized.
And no one was terrorized.
And Richard Mack also said, you know, when he was sheriff in, I think, Arizona, he said that this, you know, ranchers burn grass all the time.
Sometimes it gets out of control.
It's not intentional.
Not a big deal, really.
And this happens all over the country.
Ranchers do controlled burns to keep the grass down.
You know, burn out the weeds.
Actually improves the soil, believe it or not, when you do that.
So, this is not an act of terrorism.
In any case, this family...
They serve...
Two members of the family, the father and son, I believe, serve about a year in jail.
They get out of jail...
The Department of Homeland Security or BLM or some combination thereof, I'm not entirely clear, they decide, well, this family didn't serve enough prison time.
They need to go back for four more years to serve the five years that's called for under federal law.
Yeah, yeah, they got to serve five years in prison.
For doing a controlled burn brush fire.
Now imagine that.
What if you have land right next to a city park or some forest land that's controlled by the federal government and you do something.
Maybe you're shredding your grass with a tractor and a shredder.
Now shredders just have big spinning blades underneath them.
I've got one.
And sometimes when it's dry outside, they spark.
When they hit rocks, they'll create sparks and they'll set off fires.
It's unintentional, but it does happen.
What if you're out there shredding your land and there's a spark and a fire starts and it spreads to that federal land?
Well, you could be charged with terrorism and sent to prison for five years.
Because of this absolute tyranny under which we are now living.
This total war on citizens and farmers and ranchers and especially people who live in the country.
You know, the federal government is just totally out of control in this case.
And by the way, this family was also fined $400,000.
And BLM told them that if they go to prison and can't work the ranch to pay the fine, then they're going to be forced to sell the ranch.
And guess who gets the first right of refusal to buy the ranch?
Yep, BLM. So this is nothing more than absolute runaway federal tyranny to terrorize the citizens.
I mean, there is terrorism taking place here, and it's on the part of the federal government.
The federal government is the terrorist organization in this case.
They are terrorizing this family and sending them to prison, threatening them with fines, and then saying, we're basically just going to take your land.
We're going to send you to prison and take your land by forcing you to sell it.
This is how the federal government operates.
So, a number of different patriot groups have taken notice of this, and they have decided to come to the aid of the Hammond family.
And they've decided enough is enough.
This is the line in the sand, that if they don't stop it here, the BLM is just going to keep doing this all over the place.
They tried to do it to the Bundy family, what, a year and a half ago or so?
And we had the Bundy Ranch standoff in Nevada.
Which fortunately ended without a shooting, but it was very close.
It was a very tense situation.
So these patriot groups get together, and they issue a redress of grievance, which says, and by the way, you can read this at bundyranch.blogspot.com.
So the Bundy family is coming to the aid of the Hammond family.
And this redress of grievance says we the people, united individuals of these states united, the Coalition of Western States, Pacific Patriot Network, Bundy Family and Supporters, Oregon Oath Keepers...
Idaho 3%, Central Oregon Constitutional Guard, Oregon Tactical, Oregon Bearded Bastards, a fun group name, Liberty Watch Washington, Nevada Committee for Full Statehood, Rural Heritage Preservation Project, Liberty for All, and so on and so forth.
Notice to agent is notice to principal.
Sheriff David Ward, and it gives a bunch of names, dear sirs, the notice says, after extensive research on the Hammond case, we the people of these states united have reason to believe that Dwight and Stephen Hammond were not afforded their rights to due process as protected by the United States Constitution.
We have principled evidence that Dwight and Stephen Hammond committed no crime in the act of performing the prescribed burn and backfire, that the U.S. government does not have the authority to enforce territorial law under Article 4 within the state of Oregon, that the county of Harney and the state of Oregon fail to protect the Hammond's rights as guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution,
We hold compelling evidence that the U.S. government abused the federal court system, situating the Hammond family into duress as an effort to force the Hammonds to sell their Steen Mountain property to a federal agency, and the letter goes on and on.
And you can read this at bundyranch.blogspot.com.
It gives notice to the government to respond within five days.
And it goes on to say, Alright, so this went out, what day?
December 11th.
And of course the government, both the Oregon state government and the federal government had no reply, as you can imagine.
Because they are, of course...
They're tyrants who hate the Constitution.
They hate the people.
They hate ranchers especially.
Ranchers have scary rifles.
Oh my God.
And so they're just trying to basically criminalize anyone who tries to stand up for property rights.
So, then the Patriot Group said, we're going to get together.
And they physically converged on the Hammond family in Oregon to support the Hammond family.
And to make matters more confusing, the Hammond family says, we don't want you here.
We don't want all these Patriots here.
We're just going to turn ourselves over to the feds and serve...
Four more years in prison because they're terrified.
They're absolutely terrified of what's happening.
All right, so I'll be back after this break with more.
This is Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, co-founder of TalkNetwork.com.
I'll be back with more details.
Alright, welcome back.
Continuing with our emergency coverage of the situation in Oregon where patriots have taken over a federal building and the Hammond family is facing five years in prison under a terrorism charge issued by the federal government against them for setting a controlled burn fire on their own ranch that spread to some BLM land.
And now the government's requiring them to serve five years in prison and to be condemned as terrorists, which is more than a felony crime.
They will never be able to own firearms again, which means they can't be ranchers, and the BLM is trying to force them to sell their land to the federal government.
This is just a big land grab.
By the federal government.
That's all this is.
And they're using absolute federal tyranny and terrorism on the part of the federal government to basically destroy this family.
So the patriots have been gathering there on site to have a show of solidarity.
In support of this rancher.
And of course, many of these patriots are armed.
They're openly carrying firearms.
And they are, even though they're calling for peace, I've heard many times Pete Santilli is on the scene and he was saying, you know, let's keep it peaceful.
Let's not have any violence here.
There is, of course, the presence of many, many firearms, which is, of course, the right of the American people.
And technically, this is the whole point of the Second Amendment, is when a government becomes the enemy of the people and when tyranny becomes so burdensome that it threatens the constitutional rights of the people, which is clearly what's happening here, that the Second Amendment exists to defend which is clearly what's happening here, that the Second Amendment exists to defend the people
The Second Amendment was created by the Founding Fathers not to shoot deer and animals, but literally to shoot tyrants.
That's what the Second Amendment was created for.
That is its legitimate function.
That's what it exists for.
And of course it was created in the aftermath of the Revolutionary War in understanding that citizens under King George were of course not allowed to own firearms and that is one of the ways that the king He committed so much terrorism and tyranny against the people under his empire because they were forced to be disarmed.
So the founding fathers of America said, we're not going to do that.
We're going to make sure that people always have firearms so that they can literally take a stand against tyranny.
And this is exactly what the citizens are doing in Oregon right now.
So there's been a call to arms.
Across the patriot community.
But now at the same time, Oath Keepers, and there's a lot of controversy about this, Oath Keepers with Stuart Rhodes has issued a statement and a video telling patriots to back off, in essence.
And there's a story on Oath Keepers.org with the title, The Hammond family does not want an armed standoff and nobody has a right to force one on them.
Stuart Rhodes is saying we can't force ourselves onto people, we can't force our protection onto people, that Dwight and Stephen Hammond have made it clear that they just want to turn themselves in and serve out their five-year sentence, or four years remaining.
And no patriot group or individual has the right or authority to force an armed standoff on this family, says Stuart Rhodes.
And he's posted a video as well and a written statement.
And what is this?
He's condemning the actions of Ammon Bundy, one of the Bundy boys, saying that Ammon is wrong to call for patriots and militias to converge in Oregon.
So, we have serious disagreement.
Between different factions of the patriot movement.
Oath keepers saying that these people shouldn't be there because the family has already essentially surrendered and just wants to go to prison and turn over their land and basically give in to the regime, to the tyranny.
And yet the patriots are saying, well, the only reason that this family is doing this is because they're so terrified because of the level of terrorism committed by the government and that we, the people, this is their argument, we, the people, have to take a stand against that tyranny, even against the wishes of those who have been so victimized by it that they themselves are too terrified to take a stand.
So you see how this is shaping up?
Yeah.
Two different factions in the patriot movement.
Meanwhile, the mainstream media is, of course, depicting all these people as total wackos, total militia, nutjobs, the usual.
This is exactly what you would expect from the mainstream media.
It's also shaping up to be potentially a very serious armed conflict because now this group occupies this Forest Reserve headquarters in Oregon.
And they are saying, Ammon Bundy says, quote, we're going to be freeing these lands up and getting ranchers back to ranching, getting the loggers back to logging, getting the miners back to mining, where they could do it under the protection of the people.
And not be afraid of this tyranny that's been set upon them, as a Facebook statement.
And they're saying that they're going to...
I guess it's about 150 militia members and patriots have occupied the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge Headquarters.
And they're saying that we're going to stay here for years.
And one of the men there says, quote, until that line is drawn and we say we've had enough of this tyranny, you're going to leave us alone.
It will not change.
And another quote, it doesn't have to stop here.
This could be a hope that spreads through the whole country, the whole United States.
Everybody's looking for this hope because the government has beat us and oppressed us and took everything from us.
They will not stop until we tell them no.
And they're saying that the federal government is acting like bullies and that you've got to stand up to the bully and punch him in the face and give him a bloody nose before the bully backs off.
So...
You see where this is going.
The patriot community hopes that this spreads to other areas across the country and that there is an uprising of rural citizens against the tyranny of the federal government.
In order to stop this, and the federal government of course already has plans in place, you can count on that, to stop this, here's what they're going to do.
This is a playbook right out of the Waco, Texas, David Koresh situation.
First of all, they're going to get the mainstream media to start utterly fabricating false accusations against these people.
They're going to say they're pedophiles.
They're going to say they're all terrorists.
They're going to say that they abused their wives.
They're just going to make up any crazy thing they can think of.
They're friends with Jared Fogle and Bill Clinton.
No, they can't throw Bill Clinton in there because his womanizing and sexual assaults are totally okay with the mainstream media.
So let's leave him out.
He gets a free pass because he's Bill Clinton, right?
Bill Cosby, though, because he's black, gets completely stomped on.
And because he sexually assaults many...
I don't mean just because he's black.
But isn't it interesting how Bill Clinton being white gets a free pass?
Bill Cosby being black gets crucified when technically they both should be crucified?
Anyway, that's another discussion.
So...
The federal government will then follow this mainstream media assault on the character of these people with, of course, an armed raid.
This is what it will come to.
They'll do an armed raid and they'll make some excuse of why they have to go in and kill all these people.
And, you know, just like they did in Waco, Texas, they'll make up some excuse.
Oh, these people are abusing their children.
You know, whatever, whatever they need.
Oh, these people were planning on releasing a...
A pandemic super virus to kill us all.
You know, they'll just make anything up.
Because this is what the...
Look, the government is right now engaged in actual terrorism against the Hammond family.
So if they are terrorists, of course, they're also liars.
They can fabricate anything to justify an armed raid on this.
So what they're going to try to do is they're going to try to kill all these patriots and militia members.
If they do that, they're going to set off a freaking nationwide revolt, uprising, armed citizen uprising, civil war.
I don't know where it goes.
But if these men get executed, in essence, slaughtered by the federal government, It's going to set off something huge.
I mean, I can't even tell you where that could go.
So, you and I and all of us had better hope that this thing ends peacefully.
You better hope that people keep their safeties on and their trigger fingers out of the trigger guards.
You better hope there's no bloodshed here.
You better hope that this thing ends peacefully.
Now, if you were a federal government that had any brains, what you'd try to do is just have a blockade around this building and starve these people out, right?
Make them surrender after 90 days or whatever.
Who knows how much food or water they have.
I'm not saying, I'm not advocating that.
I'm saying if that's the way the government would tactically think, I think these people are in the right, frankly.
You know, the government is engaged in terrorism.
I'm just saying that the tactic of the government to end this without bloodshed would be to starve them out.
Use the old medieval castle technique from many centuries ago.
Just starve them out.
Make them surrender.
But I think this federal government wants to have a show of force.
They want to actually murder these citizens.
They want to murder these patriots.
The federal government is so evil at this point that it wants to murder these people.
And so I am afraid that that's what's going to unfold.
If it does, who knows what can happen?
An instant ban on all firearms purchases, an instant ban on all ammo, martial law declared nationwide, massive citizen uprising.
I don't know.
These are all possibilities.
So you better watch this situation very closely and see what happens.
Watch TalkNetwork.com.
I mean, listen to it.
Pete Santilli is on the scene.
He's been issuing live reports, and there's a lot more coming from this.
So stay tuned to TalkNetwork.com, and thank you for listening.
This is Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, co-founder of TalkNetwork.
Alright, this is Mike Adams with another update for you on the situation in Oregon.
And I've been in direct touch with Pete Santilli on the ground there at the Wildlife Refuge building in, what is it, Harney County in Burns, I think it's Burns, Oregon.
This is the Hammond Ranch situation I'm referring to, and you're listening to talknetwork.com.
Now, first, let me cover a few facts of what has been stated and said.
And if you're not familiar with the background here, a number of patriots and ranchers have decided to camp out in a public area out there, and they haven't damaged anything.
There's no, nothing has been burned down.
The media has been spreading all kinds of lies, and a lot of trolls have been pushing lies, saying they burned down the museum, which they absolutely did not.
The museum is fully intact.
There's been no vandalism, I've been told.
There's no damage to the facility.
They're simply there.
And it's supposed to be public land anyway, so they're not doing anything illegal.
Even carrying firearms is not illegal in Oregon.
So they haven't done anything illegal.
The mainstream media is wildly, wildly exaggerating this and calling them terrorists and claiming that they're destroying property or that they've seized federal property.
Well, no, wait a minute.
You know, this was all...
Land that belonged to ranchers.
And actually the feds came along and seized the land and kicked the ranchers off.
Over 100 ranching families were kicked off that land over the last few decades.
And these ranchers have just said enough is enough.
We're not going to give up our land.
We're not going to let you throw us in prison and charge us with false felony terrorism crimes just because we were doing controlled burns on our land.
And you know, enough is enough.
They're taking a stand for the people of Oregon.
These people are taking a stand for you as Americans.
So number one, don't believe anything the mainstream media is reporting about this.
They're asking loaded questions.
They are distorting the story.
They're intentionally misreporting this.
And they are the ones using inflammatory language.
In fact, if you talk to these people on the ground, as Pete has done, Pete, one of the hosts of TalkNetwork.com, they are all very caring, very open-hearted individuals.
They are restrained.
They've said on the record that they are not going to fire any shot at anyone unless they are fired upon.
They are in a purely defensive stance.
They're not threatening anyone.
They're not shooting up the place.
Nothing.
These are simply armed constitutional citizens who are taking a stand and demanding real justice in America, demanding that the federal government follow the law as it is written in the Constitution.
And that's a heroic thing to be doing, to be taking a stand.
You know, it wasn't too many years ago that the left celebrated the actions of the Occupy Wall Street movement and It was certainly fine for that group to occupy parks and cities all across the country.
Well, that's what these guys are doing in Oregon.
And they're occupying a wildlife refuge area, a number of buildings, I guess a compound, you might call it, doing essentially the same thing that Occupy Wall Street did, which was celebrated by the mainstream media.
These are people demanding their rights in the face of oppression.
And whether it's corporate oppression or government oppression, individual people have the right to gather in groups and state their grievances and be heard.
And they have a right to demand that they be treated fairly and justly and that they're not simply threatened and oppressed and imprisoned as subjects of a kingdom.
This is not King George's land.
This is supposed to be a republic.
And the people have a voice and the First Amendment has a purpose and the Second Amendment has a purpose.
And we are seeing it expressed right now.
Thank you.
So here are some other facts of what we know.
The local people are actually bringing supplies to these individuals, these courageous Americans who are occupying this building.
They're being supported by many local people.
So far, there is no law enforcement presence at all.
There hasn't been a single police officer or a federal person of any kind.
At least the last time I spoke with Pete, there was nothing of the kind.
So far, law enforcement is entirely ignoring this situation.
And, in fact, they may continue to do so.
You know, if you were the federal government and you wanted to downplay this situation, wouldn't you just ignore it?
Just leave these 100 guys out there to freeze in this building out in the middle of nowhere?
I mean, that's probably...
I mean, if the government were smart, and I'm not saying they are, but if they were, that's what they would do.
They would just ignore it.
Don't even show up.
You know, and wait it out for 60 days, 90 days, whatever.
But there are rumors, and these are unconfirmed, so I've got to say that up front, but there are rumors that the federal government is looking to come in and slaughter these individuals.
And this rumor is being advocated by social media users on the left.
People are tweeting that the government should go in and shoot all of these ranchers.
And I saw one person who was a Bernie Sanders supporter insisting on that.
Gotta shoot the ranchers.
Teach them a lesson.
So this is the actual violence in the rhetoric of this situation is coming from the left.
Not from the ranchers themselves.
They have no talk of violence.
They're not threatening.
They're not making aggressive demands.
They're not waving their guns at people, pointing their barrels at people.
Nothing of the kind is happening.
They are the ones that are advocating peace and behaving professionally.
And really acting with a lot of calm and resolve and determination in the face of a federal government that is engaged in terrorism and tyranny against the people.
Meanwhile, the people on the political left are the ones calling for violence.
They want bloodshed.
They want the government to commit murder.
And that's the truth of just about everything that is happening in these land grab situations, including what nearly happened at Bundy Ranch in Nevada a little over a year ago.
So the violence is coming from the left.
The violence is coming from the inflammatory rhetoric of the mainstream media.
And the peace-loving people are actually the ranchers there who are armed but restrained and acting in the interests of the people of Oregon.
So that's a story that you won't hear reported anywhere in the mainstream media.
Now let's see, what else?
The occupiers are self-policing, I've been told, that they are keeping their own people in order.
In other words, they're not letting anyone run around damaging the buildings.
Not that they would anyway, but they are unified in their resolve and in their desire to take this stand and send a message to the federal government.
That they can't just keep grabbing land and imprisoning ranchers and making up lame excuses for doing so.
That this is a line in the sand that they say they're not willing to allow to be crossed without taking a stand for their rights and their beliefs and their heritage and the land that has been in their families for generations.
So, you know, can you blame them?
You really can't.
Let's see.
What else do we have going on there?
Let me take you...
By the way, this is at the Malheuer National Wildlife Refuge, which is 30 miles outside of the town of Burns, Oregon.
And Pete is asking me to send out the message that he needs people with Verizon cell phones or Verizon bandwidth or data hotspots to converge on this town and seek him out.
Because in order to keep broadcasting and stay on the air, he needs more Verizon bandwidth.
So if you have a Verizon account and you're in Oregon or California or Idaho or somewhere nearby and you want to help the independent media broadcast the truth about this, then please get to Burns, Oregon and bring your cell phone and your data hotspot, whatever else you can, and find Pete there.
Okay, so...
We have...
Here's a news from Breitbart.
An armed activist named Ritzheimer, John Ritzheimer, has made a video.
And he's stating that they are peaceful and that they will not fire unless they are fired upon.
And that they do not seek violence and...
The government is kicking off the ranchers and taking their land.
He says, quote, this land belongs to we the people.
It's outlined here in the Constitution.
Patriots need to come together regardless of your opinion of how this happened.
There's Oregon County residents coming in here.
The refuge is open and there aren't any no trespassing signs.
We're breaking no laws.
We're out here on public land.
There's nothing illegal taking place here.
He goes on to say, quote, So you see, it's a kumbaya moment for the ranchers, really.
They're doing an Occupy Wall Street type of deal, but they're just occupying a federal wildlife refuge building campus area.
I mean, so what?
They're camping out!
You know, it's pretty damn cold there.
Probably if the government leaves them alone, a lot of them will eventually go home just to warm up, you know?
In any case, none of us want bloodshed to come from this.
And one of the concerns that has been raised, Pete told me personally he thinks that Alex Jones might be headed to the scene and that Alex will inflame the situation and end up getting people shot.
That sounds exactly like what Alex Jones would do.
So let's hope Alex doesn't show up and screw up the situation and get everybody riled up and cause violence where none is happening.
Let's hope it ends peacefully no matter who is there.
So thank you for paying attention to this.
Please share this.
This is Mike Adams, the health ranger at talknetwork.com.
Spread the word.
We have to keep our eyes and ears on this situation.
Otherwise, the feds will probably try to slaughter these people unless we are broadcasting it live.
So we need your help.
Thank you for all your help.
