Time Text
Hey everybody, this is Jonathan Emore, the health freedom attorney that is famous for, well, being a very effective health freedom attorney.
Jonathan, how are you doing today?
Great, just great.
I understand you have a new book out about health freedom censorship.
Yes.
Can you tell us about that book?
Well, a lot of people don't realize that the censorship that is experienced here in the United States over health information is not unique.
It occurs all over the world.
Wherever drugs are regulated, the governments censor truthful information about therapeutic effects of non-drug substances.
And, well, even within our own country, a lot of people don't realize that the government absolutely prohibits prior restraint any communication about the effects of a nutrient on a disease.
You would think that basic information about your diet like that should be freely available.
You would expect the First Amendment to protect it.
Well, the FDA censors it here, and the European Food Safety Authority and the European Commission in Europe censors it for 28 countries of Europe, and then also in India and in Africa and in South America and all around the world this kind of censorship occurs.
But it only occurs in those countries that regulate drugs.
And the reason is that the drug regime created with the The complicity of the pharmaceutical industry defines a drug As government approved, but based solely on its intended use.
So that rather than defining a drug based on its chemical composition, they define it based on what is said.
And that eliminates the right of all parties that sell, for example, prune juice.
You can't say prune juice is curative of chronic constipation, even though it is, and everyone agrees it.
Even a simple statement like that, if we were to put it on a prune juice label, anywhere in the developed world would cause the prune juice to be a drug and would invite government officials in those countries to seize the product and prosecute those who sell it criminally and civilly.
This is happening all around the world.
People are being arrested, prosecuted for simply telling the truth about the physiological effects of natural substances, correct?
Absolutely right.
And in fact, the governments of the world through international treaties enable their enforcement people to enter into other countries to nab those parties that use those other countries as bases.
To disseminate their products from into, say, the United States.
The United States will send FDA agents to Japan, or to Canada, or to Europe.
And those countries will allow them, into their country, to take enforcement action against a resident So it's an extraordinary power that is being wielded internationally to censor truthful information.
Do you think this censorship will continue or has the time come for a new era of freedom that could somehow emerge from all this?
Well, I believe that sooner or later this paradigm has to collapse because it's contrary to an overwhelming scientific profusion of information that is filling the literature and it's also It's leaking into the practice of medicine.
So there's alternative medicine and integrative medicine.
Consumers are gathering the information.
They're forming their own, essentially, underground groups to disseminate the information.
And health-conscious people Are proving themselves resilient and unwilling to be suppressed.
So, inevitably, this paradigm will collapse as people come to reject a paternalistic government who thinks it knows better than the individual how best to care for themselves.
You and I are, in essence, doing our part to help inform people.
And through your new book, you're reaching out to a lot of people.
Can you explain what's in your book?
Well, yes, this is the book.
Let's get a shot over here.
Here we are.
Global censorship of health information.
Yes, and the subtitle is important.
The Politics of Controlling Therapeutic Information to Protect State Sponsored Drug Monopolies.
Wow.
I love that.
Yeah.
That's great.
And what the book does is it starts with the ideological origins of free speech.
Why is free speech a liberty right?
Why is the right to communicate health information indispensable to individual liberty?
And it starts with the Enlightenment era in Europe.
It shows the Enlightenment philosophers' view and how that rejected the divine right of kings.
It draws parallels between the divine right of kings' approach, which is the king can do no wrong, the state is always right, and the current system of censorship.
It shows that the mechanisms of censorship that were in existence then are actually the same that it exists now.
And that when the Divine Right of Kings was rejected in Europe And rights philosophy, individual rights philosophy gained sway and freedom of speech rose in Europe and then eventually in the United States following the Declaration of Independence.
These very concepts that now justify the censorship were already refudiated, found to be antithetical to individual liberty, and yet they were recreated.
In the 20th century, the same mechanisms of censorship using more sophisticated technical means are applied yet again.
And so it shows, just your point, that ultimately this engine of freedom that overthrows these systems of censorship is most likely going to do so again.
And that we're going to see this collapse.
But the unfortunate thing is that presently we are in the grips of it.
And it is literally sacrificing human lives.
And that's the other part of the story in the book, that this censorship is not only a violation of our First Amendment freedoms or our free speech freedoms for the rest of the world, but it is also actually sacrificing human life.
And we're talking about everything from infants being denied information about DHA improving brain function or folic acid reducing neural tube defect births to such things as omega-3 fatty acids or fish oils reducing the incidence of sudden death heart attack or other cardiovascular problems, the gamut.
And this censorship is so profound That people all over the world are suffering simply because they don't know that common elements in foods, that if they consume those things in high enough quantities, can have therapeutic effects that can prevent them from having to rely upon caustic therapeutic agents.
Where can they find the book, Jonathan?
Well, they can get it at Amazon.com.
I think it's also Borders.
