[00:01:35] Have you ever been in a store and there's a mother talking to her kid and the kid's not paying attention. [00:01:46] The kid's acting up. [00:01:48] And the mother, instead of grabbing the kid or leaning down and mumbling what can only be interpreted as some kind of a threat, the way our mothers normally do, like, if you don't do what I say. === She Wants You To See (14:04) === [00:02:05] But instead, you get this. [00:02:08] Now, what if the other children grabbed something off of the shelf? [00:02:17] Something that they wanted. [00:02:20] What would happen to the rest? [00:02:23] And this is as you're trying to move up. [00:02:26] And Mr. Rogers here, or Mrs. Rogers, is... [00:02:30] Why do you think she's doing that? [00:02:32] She's doing that not for the child's benefit, but for your benefit. [00:02:37] She wants you to see that she's the great mother. [00:02:41] She wants you to see this. [00:02:44] Not... [00:02:46] That she knows what she's doing, but she wants you to see that she's the great mother. [00:02:53] You see? [00:02:54] See how this works? [00:02:56] You do things sometimes to look like you know what you're doing. [00:03:04] And in your job, most of the time, I can't say this enough, you have to look like you know. [00:03:13] What you're doing. [00:03:14] There was a fellow years ago I used to work with. [00:03:16] He was kind of in the engineering. [00:03:22] Well, slash production is hard to say. [00:03:25] These distinctions don't mean anything anymore. [00:03:29] And he was always walking around with carts. [00:03:32] We had cart rides. [00:03:33] I'm dating myself. [00:03:35] He was always walking around. [00:03:37] And people would say, Jerry, I'm busy right now. [00:03:40] And he'd keep going. [00:03:41] So finally I asked him, I said, I think I know why you carry something. [00:03:46] So that you always look busy. [00:03:48] He said, exactly. [00:03:49] And he learned it from a guy in engineering who said, if you're ever carrying a ladder, nobody will ever bother you. [00:04:01] And I'm thinking, you've got to carry a ladder. [00:04:02] Not a big ladder, but even a step ladder. [00:04:04] People will not bother. [00:04:05] Because the key to life is looking like you know what you're doing. [00:04:09] Those who can do, those who can't. [00:04:13] And a couple of things I want you to listen to. [00:04:16] Be very carefully. [00:04:19] The media are not here to illuminate, to educate, to make you smarter, to make you think. [00:04:29] It's not happening. [00:04:30] They're there to survive. [00:04:32] And they're there doing their best to create The illusion, the perception that they are providing some media, whatever. [00:04:47] They are doing this so as to give you this sense of, I know what I'm doing. [00:04:59] And you're seeing it now, especially, forget bank collapse, you're seeing media stories. [00:05:08] And one of them, remember, when things get tough, they always go back old school. [00:05:16] I've seen it a million times. [00:05:19] Rule number one. [00:05:22] Never get innovative people who truly understand what something is about. [00:05:30] Never. [00:05:31] You want to get somebody who knows corporate. [00:05:33] Somebody who's been in the company. [00:05:37] Positions and other whatever. [00:05:40] But people who have been who have been in sales or maybe head of a... [00:05:52] They used to have these things. [00:05:53] I'm a charger. [00:05:53] Group one. [00:05:54] There was a fellow the other day who put out a... [00:05:57] He used to be in radio. [00:05:59] He used to be a big shot. [00:06:00] There is no more. [00:06:01] Radio, for the most part. [00:06:02] There is no more. [00:06:03] Well, the classic terrestrial. [00:06:05] The stuff that used to be. [00:06:06] You know, the station groups. [00:06:08] And he put out an article about how to deal with talent. [00:06:12] And thinking, what is this? [00:06:13] From the 80s? [00:06:14] They don't know what year it is. [00:06:18] They're trying to look important. [00:06:22] They're trying to look like they know what they're doing. [00:06:26] And the hardest thing for people to understand... [00:06:30] The hardest is to step back and ask yourself, what am I trying to accomplish here? [00:06:35] What am I trying to accomplish? [00:06:39] And people will say, well, I want to do a TV show, a radio show, a podcast, but what are you trying to accomplish? [00:06:50] Ultimately, the answer is metrics and all that stuff because that's really all that matters. [00:06:56] But how do you think you'll get that? [00:06:59] What is your goal? [00:07:01] What are you trying to accomplish? [00:07:02] Do you want to act like you know what you're doing or do you want to really do something? [00:07:08] The other day, there was a group of people who met for this rather grand event. [00:07:17] And they were broadcasters. [00:07:20] And virtually all of them, but many of them who were there were at this event to try to get a new gig because their radio or TV, whatever, it's over with. [00:07:33] It's been either shuttered, compartmentalized, redirected, refocused, whatever you want to call it. [00:07:41] So they were at an event of broadcasters Trying to get a gig. [00:07:48] Because there's no broadcasters. [00:07:51] It's changed. [00:07:52] And what the good people will do is they'll say, oh, I understand this. [00:07:57] I got it. [00:07:59] The essence of broadcasting never changes. [00:08:01] The essence of information never changes. [00:08:03] That never changes. [00:08:04] But maybe, you know, went from AM to FM to talk to podcasting to whatever it is. [00:08:11] It doesn't matter. [00:08:15] It's the essence of it. [00:08:17] What am I really trying to do here? [00:08:18] What am I really trying to do? [00:08:22] And the first thing I want to tell you before we get into something, and listen to me very carefully. [00:08:28] If you... [00:08:30] There's a rule in trial law about cross-examination. [00:08:33] Don't. [00:08:36] And let me just tell you something right now. [00:08:38] if you're thinking about having a guest on, don't. [00:08:43] Think about this. [00:08:46] Why do you have a guest? [00:08:47] Because you're not able to cover it. [00:08:49] You're not able to carry it. [00:08:51] Nobody wants to hear you. [00:08:52] They want to hear somebody else. [00:08:54] Let me say this again. [00:08:55] When you have a guest on, when you have somebody, and sometimes you can say, here we have a Martian. [00:09:00] You know, that's a good one. [00:09:02] I don't have anything to say. [00:09:11] I'll ask a question. [00:09:15] Well, is it your show? [00:09:19] Is it? [00:09:20] What is this? [00:09:20] What is your show? [00:09:21] Is it about you? [00:09:23] If you never talk on your show, it tells me. [00:09:25] It's like, wow. [00:09:27] I've never seen anything. [00:09:28] I've never seen anything like it. [00:09:31] This subjugation, this abnegation, this... [00:09:34] And it's everywhere. [00:09:36] Here's another thing they do. [00:09:38] When you're trying to reconstitute a network, you'll get refugees from old shows. [00:09:42] You'll get, well, I'll get him. [00:09:43] He's a name. [00:09:44] Excuse me. [00:09:46] You're a news show? [00:09:48] Yeah. [00:09:48] Is it about news? [00:09:50] No. [00:09:50] It's about looking like we're a news show. [00:09:53] Like the mother who wants everybody to think she's a good mother by verbalizing all this psychological nonsense. [00:10:00] It's not about news. [00:10:01] I don't know about news. [00:10:03] I don't read this stuff. [00:10:04] I don't know. [00:10:06] What are you doing? [00:10:08] I don't know. [00:10:09] I'm trying to look like I know what I'm doing. [00:10:12] I don't understand the essence of it. [00:10:17] It's incredible. [00:10:19] Now the next point I want to make to you is very simple. [00:10:23] Listen to me and listen carefully. [00:10:27] There is going to be a new level of liability, civil liability, I don't know about criminal, but civil liability, administrative, where people are going to be held accountable for the information that they give. [00:10:41] Too many, and I'm not saying misinformation, disinformation, please, I'm not saying that. [00:10:45] I'm talking about somebody who says something and you do it. [00:10:52] Every now and then somebody feels so imbued, so empowered by what their thing is that they will say things. [00:11:07] They will say things. [00:11:09] And they will never say, excuse me, I'm not an expert. [00:11:12] I remember one time hearing somebody say, listen, this is plant-based food by people, not vegans, plant-based. [00:11:21] Somebody said, listen, if you cut out all meat and blah, blah, blah, blah, you can stop taking your, you know, your lipid stuff. [00:11:32] Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, wait, what? [00:11:34] Wait a minute, you're telling people to change their medication? [00:11:37] No, no, no, no, no. [00:11:39] This is, you are, you are, this is, Beyond your... [00:11:44] No, don't do this. [00:11:47] Don't do this. [00:11:47] Don't say that. [00:11:48] Oh, no, no. [00:11:48] You don't have to worry about this. [00:11:49] Hey, I'm on a diet where all I eat is meat. [00:11:55] That's all I'm eating. [00:11:58] And I feel great. [00:12:00] And I don't eat anything but meat. [00:12:02] Raw meat and I lick salt. [00:12:04] And you should do that too. [00:12:08] Okay. [00:12:09] Somebody does it, he's diabetic, goes into ketoacidosis, and you get all of a sudden served with some complaint because you told somebody, and you say, excuse me, I'm not an expert. [00:12:19] No, you didn't say that. [00:12:20] You said do that. [00:12:24] And so, by the way, these little disclaimers are more important than you might think. [00:12:30] I hear this stuff all the time. [00:12:34] I was diagnosed with such and such, and I just did juicing and fasting, and wait a minute. [00:12:39] Wait a minute. [00:12:40] Hold it. [00:12:43] Don't say that. [00:12:44] Be careful. [00:12:46] Somebody's going to listen to you and do what you say or not hear you exactly. [00:12:52] They're not going to hear you exactly. [00:12:54] You're getting a little bit... [00:12:56] So, why do I say this? [00:12:58] When you're on TV, listen to me. [00:13:01] If you're on TV or any kind of thing or whatever, and you say, I'm an expert in finances. [00:13:09] I know about investing, stock market, I'm it. [00:13:14] And after you've been doing it for a while, your kind of ego is inflated to the point where you're unable to even judge reality, and you say, this! [00:13:27] Buy this! [00:13:29] Whatever this thing is. [00:13:30] You buy it! [00:13:32] Take my word for it! [00:13:37] Buy it! [00:13:39] Wait a minute. [00:13:41] Really? [00:13:42] You betcha. [00:13:43] Because I'm the greatest. [00:13:45] I'm making more money. [00:13:47] I made my money from TV. [00:13:48] Not from my investments, but they don't know that. [00:13:51] That's me. [00:13:53] And the bolder I am, the more my numbers go up. [00:13:56] And the louder I am, the more my numbers go up. [00:14:00] And more of this. [00:14:01] Money? [00:14:02] No. [00:14:03] This. [00:14:04] So in keeping with that, I'm going to say, buy this. [00:14:08] And let's say you buy it and go, is he responsible for this? [00:14:13] Is he a liability? [00:14:14] You're going to see more and more of it. [00:14:17] There's something in law called estoppel. [00:14:20] Estoppel is a weird thing. [00:14:22] It's this great little, there's this case, I think it was Hammer against Sidway, was that it? [00:14:28] Was that? [00:14:28] Don't get me wrong. [00:14:29] It's like one of the first cases you learn in contract law. [00:14:31] An uncle tells his nephew, I'll give you money if you stop smoking. [00:14:36] He stopped smoking. [00:14:37] He says, okay, I stopped smoking. [00:14:39] I'm not going to pay you. [00:14:41] What do you mean? [00:14:42] Well, you benefited from not smoking. [00:14:45] No, no, I stopped smoking because you told me you'd pay me. [00:14:49] I relied on you. [00:14:52] Justifiable reliance. [00:14:54] You were stopped from not paying. [00:14:58] They relied on you. [00:15:00] Now, sometimes, Also, when you hold yourself out as an expert, it's a different story. [00:15:06] When you say, I know what I'm doing, and by the way, the standard of care that most people realize, you realize that negligence, I'm going to go back, negligence is a very simple thing. [00:15:15] You've got to prove this. [00:15:16] Number one, did you owe a duty to somebody? [00:15:18] Yes. [00:15:19] Did you breach that duty? [00:15:21] Yes. [00:15:22] Were there damages? [00:15:23] Yes. [00:15:24] And was the breach of that duty the proximate cause of those damages? [00:15:29] Yes. [00:15:30] That's negligence. [00:15:33] If, however, that duty that you owe is a little bit special because you held yourself out as an expert, well... [00:15:43] And that goes for DIY shows, for people on... [00:15:48] I see it all the time on videos, and here's how to use a sword. === Insider Trading Risks (06:57) === [00:15:54] Here's how I put up a deck. [00:15:56] Here's how I support a beam. [00:15:59] Here's how I unload a 1911. [00:16:03] Here. [00:16:03] Ooh. [00:16:06] Ooh. [00:16:07] And invariably, the person who's going to come and sue you is going to say, I took your advice. [00:16:13] And you're going to say, that wasn't my advice. [00:16:15] And they're going to say, oh, yes it was. [00:16:17] Well, you didn't do it the right way. [00:16:19] Or I put a disclaimer. [00:16:21] Well, I didn't understand it. [00:16:22] Watch what I'm saying. [00:16:25] Watch what happens. [00:16:27] This is something which is so incredible. [00:16:30] Watch what happens. [00:16:32] Here's something else. [00:16:34] What about this? [00:16:35] Let's say, I have a competitor. [00:16:41] I have a competitor in the business. [00:16:43] And he has this, I don't know, this diet coming up. [00:16:49] I'm a nutritionist, he's a nutritionist, and we're always battling each other. [00:16:53] And I know he's got this thing coming out next week. [00:16:57] Or whatever. [00:16:59] And it's about eating bacon. [00:17:03] Let's say. [00:17:04] I don't know. [00:17:05] I'm making this very, very simple. [00:17:08] And I know this. [00:17:10] And I know this. [00:17:11] And he doesn't know I know this. [00:17:13] And I know they're going to make their big publication announcement two weeks from now. [00:17:19] This big bacon diet. [00:17:21] Okay. [00:17:23] I start flooding everything, because I'm a big shot, about, let's say, anti-bacon or anti-pork or whatever it is. [00:17:33] And some of the information is, well, it doesn't matter. [00:17:39] And I say things like, you know, if I were you, I wouldn't eat. [00:17:47] And lo and behold, his book is announced and they go, oh, Baker, no, we heard about it. [00:17:51] Remember when Oprah years ago was sued, I think, by the Chicago, was it the Futures, where she said, you're not going to get me eating a burger or something like that? [00:17:59] And just her opinion caused the Futures to drop or whatever it was. [00:18:08] Well, what happens if you're out there and you're saying, you know, I'm going to short something or I'm going to do it. [00:18:17] Or I'll tell you what, the government better bail this out. [00:18:22] If not, there's going to be a whatever. [00:18:24] Now, it could be my opinion. [00:18:27] It could be based on fact. [00:18:28] It could be based on a lot of things. [00:18:30] But what happens if I'm doing it deliberately to cause a fluctuation in market volatility? [00:18:41] You know, we talk about these things. [00:18:42] You've heard about this. [00:18:44] Insider trading. [00:18:46] Insider trading is so interesting. [00:18:48] 10B5 stuff from Blue Sky and SEC stuff. [00:18:51] I know that there is a drug that did not get its approval or did get its approval, so either I short it or whatever I do. [00:19:03] But I use this information that I got that other people don't have. [00:19:09] And I would venture to say it happens more than you could ever even imagine, but let's assume theoretically. [00:19:15] And I go out and I use it to my advantage. [00:19:19] That's insider trading. [00:19:21] Well, what if I use that kind of theory like it's the opposite? [00:19:27] I'm not benefiting on something that I'm learning. [00:19:31] I'm telling everybody something so that they will act accordingly en masse. [00:19:42] What I just described to you, don't worry. [00:19:46] Nothing's going to happen. [00:19:48] Nothing's going to happen. [00:19:50] Now let me tell you how to do it the right way. [00:19:52] Let me tell you how to do it. [00:19:54] Give an example. [00:19:55] Let's talk about this. [00:19:58] Here's how you sell something. [00:20:00] And this is what I sell. [00:20:02] Right now my Patriot Supply has a deal and here it is. [00:20:06] Here's the information. [00:20:07] There is the data. [00:20:08] And that's it. [00:20:11] Right now, you get an emergency food kit and an Alexa Pure Pro water filtration system free with it. [00:20:20] That's the fact. [00:20:21] It's called emergency food. [00:20:24] This is how you get it. [00:20:25] You can read up all about it. [00:20:27] I suggest you do. [00:20:29] And I'm telling you, that's a fact. [00:20:32] And more people than you can imagine say, got it. [00:20:36] That's it. [00:20:38] It's that simple. [00:20:39] It sells itself. [00:20:41] I'm not promising you anything. [00:20:43] I'm not telling you anything. [00:20:44] I'm saying, you know, when somebody sells you a smoke detector, a carbon monoxide detector, when somebody sells you brakes, burglar alarms, things like that, they don't have to tell you. [00:20:56] You know there's these things, Colbert. [00:20:58] You know this. [00:21:00] That's as clear as you can be. [00:21:02] And right now, I suggest you go to preparewithlionel.com. [00:21:06] Preparewithlionel.com. [00:21:07] Read this. [00:21:08] Look at this. [00:21:11] Because most people have said, I didn't even know they had this. [00:21:15] You know, when you said emergency food, I don't know what I expected, but look at the variety. [00:21:21] 25 years shelf life? [00:21:23] 2,000 calories a day? [00:21:25] Yeah, 90 days? [00:21:26] Read this. [00:21:28] PrepareWithLionel.com That's it. [00:21:31] Here's another one for you. [00:21:32] Okay? [00:21:34] Fact. [00:21:34] There are these... [00:21:36] Things called emergency, excuse me, electromagnetic pulses, EMPs. [00:21:43] And historically, there have been one in particular, these solar supercoronal, it's called a Carrington event, or Carrington class event. [00:21:55] Sounds almost like a like a destroyer or something, or an aircraft carrier. [00:22:00] But anyway, there's a company called EMP Shield. [00:22:03] Here is the link. [00:22:05] Read this. [00:22:07] Read what they have to say. [00:22:08] Read the certifications. [00:22:09] Read the warranties. [00:22:11] Read it. [00:22:12] Read this. [00:22:14] Makes complete sense. [00:22:16] Read it. [00:22:17] You decide. [00:22:19] I'm not promising you. [00:22:20] I'm not telling you if you don't do this. [00:22:22] But just like somebody who says, you know, if you don't get a burglar alarm, you're going to be burgled. [00:22:28] Nobody says that. [00:22:31] But nobody has to say that. [00:22:32] So that's that. === Predictors and Predictions (04:27) === [00:22:34] See, I believe in telling people the truth. [00:22:36] That's it. [00:22:37] But when you're involved in something and you get involved, like some of these shows, I'm listening to this right now. [00:22:47] Here's another one for you. [00:22:50] When somebody says, you know, this guy who predicted whatever. [00:22:58] There's always somebody who always predicted something. [00:23:02] You know, he predicted Charles Ponzi. [00:23:05] He did? [00:23:06] He said, how old is this guy? [00:23:07] Well, you know, he predicted the end of Lehman. [00:23:09] Really? [00:23:09] He predicted the end of... [00:23:11] Oh, really? [00:23:12] He predicted the Depression. [00:23:14] He did? [00:23:15] Oh, he did. [00:23:16] How do we know that? [00:23:21] And when somebody does that, and he's saying this. [00:23:24] Now, here's a new one for you. [00:23:26] Listen to me. [00:23:28] What happens if somebody goes to a company and says, I want you, because you know the various media today, you can, if you were the royal family, you can say, how would you like access to us? [00:23:46] Really? [00:23:47] Absolutely. [00:23:49] You want to have access to Princess, to Princess, to King Chuck? [00:23:53] Yeah. [00:23:56] Now you know that printing bad things would be a problem. [00:24:02] It would make us disinclined, perhaps, to... [00:24:06] Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. [00:24:07] Now, that's not illegal. [00:24:10] It's done all the time. [00:24:11] It's his days of Winchell and Hedda Hopper and... [00:24:17] You know, the other one. [00:24:22] Okay? [00:24:22] Now, when I see things like this now, I'm thinking to myself, isn't it interesting how sometimes how certain media... [00:24:30] Become part and parcel of this, of the news. [00:24:35] They will promote somebody. [00:24:37] They will have somebody on. [00:24:39] They will actually promote something. [00:24:47] And what they say is taken either correctly or not correctly. [00:24:55] And the question is, is there going to be liability? [00:24:58] Let's go back to War of the Worlds, the famous Mercury Theater, Orson Welles. [00:25:04] Orson Welles said repeatedly during the course of this, this is not really happening. [00:25:10] This is not happening. [00:25:12] Don't think this is happening. [00:25:15] And nobody cared. [00:25:17] It was so realistic, people went berserk. [00:25:20] Should there be liability for this? [00:25:24] Now my first instinct As a sentient human being, civil libertarian, and all-around good guy, no, no, no, no. [00:25:38] Always, always accelerate, always promote speech, opinion, the like. [00:25:48] Always do that. [00:25:49] Don't do anything to affect it negatively. [00:25:53] The other night I was at the airport, And I was looking at this sign. [00:26:03] And it said, the airline arriving on time baggage carousel. [00:26:13] I thought to myself, this is the best information there is. [00:26:16] This is brilliant. [00:26:20] I see cabs. [00:26:23] God bless cabs. [00:26:25] They're still hanging in there. [00:26:26] And on top, They have little billboards that change constantly with the information. [00:26:31] Brilliant. [00:26:33] Billboards! [00:26:33] In the old days, they'd have a billboard, a guy with a paper, and he'd put them up, you know, with this. [00:26:38] Remember that with that brush? [00:26:39] They change all the time. [00:26:41] Brilliant. [00:26:43] Brilliant. [00:26:44] I love information. === Partly Cloudy with a Chance (09:25) === [00:26:47] And I love information to be pure, and I love information to just come at you. [00:26:51] And I want you to be able to say, now listen. [00:26:55] In order for you to enjoy this information system, you've got to ask yourself this thing. [00:27:00] You've got to listen carefully. [00:27:02] For the most part, we're going to hold people accountable, but we don't want to scare people so much that people say, I'm not even going to bother with that. [00:27:08] I'm not even going to bother. [00:27:12] We took those baggage signs now. [00:27:15] Why? [00:27:15] Oh, because somebody, we had the wrong number in these suitors. [00:27:17] Forget it. [00:27:18] Now we don't have them anymore. [00:27:21] So you've got to be very careful with that. [00:27:24] And you have to think to yourself, there's a balancing act. [00:27:27] And if ever, there's got to be. [00:27:30] My God. [00:27:33] There is such a balancing act. [00:27:35] Going back to what I said originally. [00:27:37] I don't listen to radio shows. [00:27:40] I listen to snippets. [00:27:42] I like to listen to a segment here. [00:27:44] Usually the first, that's the one that should set the tone. [00:27:50] And I was listening to... [00:27:53] And all it was was one guest after another. [00:28:00] Not a good guest. [00:28:01] Listen, if you're somebody like Howard Stern used to be and you've got star after star after star, that's a different story. [00:28:09] That's a different story. [00:28:11] We have Paul McCartney. [00:28:12] We've got John Lennon. [00:28:14] We've got whatever. [00:28:17] That's one thing. [00:28:18] But I'm listening to this. [00:28:21] And I said, I know what this person is doing. [00:28:23] This person is from the old school and didn't understand that it's not about having guests on. [00:28:30] It's having an interesting show. [00:28:33] And it's not about getting a great host who says, let me tell you what happened to me today. [00:28:37] Where you get to engage and you know the... [00:28:39] Let me ask you this question. [00:28:40] Do you really get to know people? [00:28:43] When you watch shows, do you ever feel like they're broadcasting to you? [00:28:48] Or that they're telling you something about it. [00:28:50] There's one guy. [00:28:52] I'm not going to mention his name. [00:28:53] But he does some kind of interesting shows. [00:28:55] I don't know anything about him. [00:28:59] Larry King was still one of the best anybody's ever seen. [00:29:02] Larry King let on more about himself than you can imagine. [00:29:04] Larry King was better than anybody. [00:29:07] Larry King, during his prime, was it. [00:29:11] It. [00:29:13] And I kind of knew Larry King. [00:29:15] I knew him. [00:29:16] I kind of knew him. [00:29:18] I had the guest on, but the guest was important. [00:29:21] It was this wonderful balance. [00:29:23] And what I do is I hear people. [00:29:26] So, going back again to what I said, remember, I'm throwing about 50 things at you, and you've got to balance everything that I'm saying. [00:29:33] As you are investigating, as you're talking about plane crashes, derailments, banking failure, whatever it is, weather, you have to ask yourself the question, what is my job? [00:29:49] What am I trying to do here? [00:29:53] I'm trying to provide the information. [00:29:54] We are right now in a Nor 'easter. [00:29:58] Sounds like something a pirate would say, Nor 'easter, Nor 'easter. [00:30:03] Okay. [00:30:07] Two. [00:30:09] What am I trying to do? [00:30:10] Well, I'm trying to put the information out. [00:30:15] But, I want people to listen to me. [00:30:17] Why are they listening to you? [00:30:18] Because he kind of sort of liked me. [00:30:20] What happened was, years ago in the world of weather, somebody came out and made a joke. [00:30:27] For some reason, the weather guy is always the goof. [00:30:30] You notice that? [00:30:32] It used to be. [00:30:33] Now weather is like, I don't even know why anybody cares about weather. [00:30:36] But in the old days, it was the goof. [00:30:38] Well, let's go to Teddy Edwards. [00:30:42] Teddy, what do you think about this? [00:30:44] Well, I'll tell you what. [00:30:45] It was hotter than... [00:30:46] How hot was it? [00:30:47] Well... [00:30:47] I'll tell you, it was some kind of... [00:30:50] They had a guy recently, years ago on... [00:30:53] I don't know if they even do this anymore. [00:30:55] It was on Channel 7. He'd go outside. [00:31:01] I said, what is he doing? [00:31:04] Well, right now it's sunsetting. [00:31:08] Excuse me. [00:31:09] It's 625 or whatever when you're 5 o 'clock. [00:31:12] You do this every night. [00:31:13] We know why you're doing it. [00:31:15] Why are you doing this? [00:31:16] Is it a big... [00:31:17] Is it a gimmick? [00:31:18] What are you doing? [00:31:19] And you know what the answer would be? [00:31:20] I have no idea. [00:31:22] I have no idea. [00:31:23] I'm just doing something. [00:31:25] I have no idea why. [00:31:26] I have no idea why I'm out here. [00:31:28] I don't even know why I'm doing weather. [00:31:30] But I'm glad because I'm a weatherman. [00:31:31] But I don't understand this. [00:31:32] There's nothing tricky to it. [00:31:35] You know, let me tell you something. [00:31:35] The weather guys who are in Tornado Alley and Hurricane... [00:31:39] Yeah, Tornado Alley. [00:31:42] You know, that's important. [00:31:43] Oh my God. [00:31:44] That's a science. [00:31:45] But when you say partly cloudy, it's always partly cloudy. [00:31:50] There's a cloud that's partly, it's always partly sunny, partly, it's always partly sunny. [00:31:56] So, go back to what I said originally. [00:31:58] We are in an informational world right now, and you are being blasted with stuff you don't even realize. [00:32:06] And what's the most important thing about what we're seeing right now? [00:32:09] That you don't see. [00:32:11] Not only are we doing, I'm talking to you, in the old days you would be, Forced to. [00:32:16] Not forced, but you would be listening to me. [00:32:18] But now we have live streaming. [00:32:19] We have side bets. [00:32:21] Just like when you have a, sometimes there's a craps game, you have people betting on this side against this one. [00:32:28] So here I am talking to you, and there are other people, which is very nice, who realize, I don't even care what the guy is saying. [00:32:34] I'm just here to talk to other people. [00:32:36] This is another platform for me. [00:32:39] And it's very important that you recognize this. [00:32:41] This is my Twitter, my whatever it is. [00:32:44] And I kind of have friends, and I know people, and I talk to people, and I like to be rebarbative, and I want to fire back to show how smart I am, because that's all we get to do. [00:33:01] I don't even know what the guy's talking about. [00:33:03] But I'm just here every day, and I'm just here to talk to people. [00:33:09] Isn't that fascinating? [00:33:11] You don't see this on... [00:33:13] In any other platform before, radio, TV, you were just watching this. [00:33:18] Maybe you were sending a letter, a postcard, but never did you have actual aside communication as it was going. [00:33:28] Dave, how are you doing? [00:33:29] Pretty good? [00:33:30] Well, I'll tell you what, I'm going to... [00:33:32] I'm going to miss tomorrow's show. [00:33:33] Why is that? [00:33:34] Well, I have to get my... [00:33:35] I got a planner's ward. [00:33:37] You do? [00:33:37] Yeah, I have one of those too. [00:33:39] Yeah, me. [00:33:39] Those are painful. [00:33:40] They sure are. [00:33:41] Meanwhile, this is going on and I'm over here. [00:33:43] I could be doing the monk, you know, with the immolation. [00:33:47] You wouldn't care because you're talking to each other and that's fine. [00:33:52] But how interesting is that? [00:33:56] How interesting is that? [00:33:58] Now, if you want to get people's attention, Jiggle the mic. [00:34:04] Have it go dark. [00:34:05] Not dark. [00:34:06] Have it go soundless. [00:34:09] Watch what happens. [00:34:11] They'll go crazy. [00:34:12] Even though everybody is saying no sound, they've got to say, I've got to say it too. [00:34:18] Because it doesn't matter unless I say it. [00:34:22] Watch that. [00:34:23] Very interesting. [00:34:24] It's just like with social media. [00:34:26] I ate something. [00:34:28] I had a tiramisu. [00:34:29] I had whatever. [00:34:30] But unless I take a picture of it, it didn't occur. [00:34:36] Unless I took a picture of it, I've got to tell you something which I saw the other day, and I'm going to leave you with this. [00:34:45] Somebody whose spouse either passed away, just passed away, or was in the midst of it, and this fellow was chronicling every moment of this poor soul's life. [00:35:01] On Twitter. [00:35:03] And I wanted to reach out and say, stop it. [00:35:08] Please, stop it. [00:35:11] Give this person dignity. [00:35:13] It's all about, here I am, sad face. [00:35:18] Can you get her in the back? [00:35:20] How about this now? [00:35:21] There we go. [00:35:23] We got her arm. [00:35:24] Can you move her arm? [00:35:24] There we go. [00:35:26] I couldn't believe what I was... [00:35:27] I could not. [00:35:28] I've seen it before too. [00:35:29] I thought it was kind of rare. [00:35:31] Here's my mother. [00:35:32] Here she is. [00:35:33] You know, her hand, some hand sticking out of... [00:35:35] A woman who was proud and maybe took care of herself and never went out, you know, just had pride in her. [00:35:45] And here she is in this moment, the last moment on earth. [00:35:50] The last moment on earth. [00:35:53] And death, as you know, is a... === Good News Is Solemnly Said (05:02) === [00:36:00] There used to be this thing. [00:36:01] Somebody said, death is the best part of life. [00:36:02] Why do you think they save it for the end? [00:36:05] Okay, that sounds cute. [00:36:06] But no, it's not. [00:36:07] It's not cute. [00:36:08] It's not nice. [00:36:09] And it should be very, very solemn. [00:36:11] It should be very, very dignified. [00:36:14] But I saw somebody actually standing like this. [00:36:19] This is when I step away and say, oh my God. [00:36:29] That would be my opening, that would be the show of shows. [00:36:33] Because that would, not to borrow from Sid Caesar, because that would be, again, this asylum that I'm living in right now. [00:36:43] So, the good news is simply this. [00:36:47] If you don't like the news now, don't worry, because in less than 12 hours, it will be completely forgotten. [00:36:54] I used to give the three-day rule. [00:36:55] Now it's, it doesn't matter. [00:36:57] Now it's not even three days. [00:36:59] It doesn't matter. [00:37:01] Now the good news is, there's a wonderful part about this, is of course sponsorship. [00:37:06] Me being a capitalist, and I'm going to say something about my good friends at MyPillow. [00:37:11] Here's what I'm saying. [00:37:13] Do you like to sleep? [00:37:15] Do you like good pillows? [00:37:16] Do you like one that's temperature controlled? [00:37:20] Yes. [00:37:21] MyPillow. [00:37:22] MyPillow.com, right there. [00:37:25] You can call 800-645-4965 or go to MyPillow.com, promo code Lionel. [00:37:31] Does that make sense? [00:37:33] Makes complete and total sense to me. [00:37:37] And one more thing, and this is important, this is critical. [00:37:41] Right now, as I've said before, during this, I like to say cold and flu season, you have saved up to 15% off of your Z-Stack for an immune booster. [00:37:53] It's not just an immune boost. [00:37:54] It's everything. [00:37:56] You kind of need this stuff. [00:37:57] Vitamin C, zinc, D, D3, and a phytonutrient bioavailable quercetin, a flavonoid, which is an anti-inflammatory like you cannot believe. [00:38:11] Makes complete and total sense. [00:38:13] There's no... [00:38:16] Debate. [00:38:17] I don't think anybody says, you know, I think antioxidants are not good for you. [00:38:20] Well, if there is such a thing, please let me know where that research is because I'm a layman. [00:38:24] I'm not a doctor. [00:38:25] But normally, free radicals, not good. [00:38:30] But Z-Stack is where to go and you use that link right there. [00:38:35] So what I want you to do today, I want you to sit back and look at what's going on. [00:38:40] Keep a pad. [00:38:41] Keep a notepad. [00:38:42] Keep it next to your, just like we had a, remember we used to have one of these near the phone. [00:38:46] And I want you to write SVB. [00:38:52] Monday. [00:38:52] And then wait until you don't see it again. [00:38:54] Okay. [00:38:56] East Palestine. [00:38:58] Write this down and then see, when do we not see? [00:39:01] My God, that was just the other day. [00:39:03] Write down all the stories. [00:39:05] All the, and they just go away. [00:39:11] Are they fixed? [00:39:13] No. [00:39:15] Wouldn't it be great if life were like that? [00:39:22] Where something happens and you forget it away and say, hey, wait a minute. [00:39:28] Didn't Uncle Dave have that problem with it? [00:39:31] Yeah. [00:39:32] Uncle Dave, didn't you have that lesion that was, oh yeah, got infected? [00:39:37] Yeah, whatever happened? [00:39:41] I forgot about it. [00:39:43] Huh! [00:39:44] Life doesn't work like that. [00:39:45] You don't forget about it and it goes away. [00:39:47] It just kind of gets worse. [00:39:49] But in the world of news, you just forget about it. [00:39:53] You just forget about it. [00:39:54] It's gone. [00:39:56] Because people think everything will be taken care of. [00:39:59] I don't have to worry about anything. [00:40:01] Yeah, yeah, yeah, they use the word crisis, but it'll work out. [00:40:06] I'm just too busy. [00:40:08] I'm busy, you know. [00:40:10] Doing that stuff. [00:40:12] Don't ever forget why social media are here. [00:40:15] Okay? [00:40:17] Now, let me also ask you, very, very important, please follow me on Twitter, at LionelMedia, and I want you also to find Mrs. L. Follow Mrs. L on Twitter. [00:40:26] Cannot say this enough. [00:40:28] So critical. [00:40:29] Follow her on Twitter, right there, at LinsWarriors on Twitter. [00:40:37] And my friend, you have a great and glorious day. [00:40:39] We'll be back tomorrow. [00:40:40] Same bad time, same bad channel. [00:40:41] Remember, remember what I'm telling you today. [00:40:44] Just watch what's happening. [00:40:46] And a couple days from now, you're going to say, you know what? [00:40:48] He was mentioning that. [00:40:50] And I'm right about this. [00:40:52] And anyway, see you tomorrow. [00:40:53] Same bad time, same bad channel. [00:40:54] As stated, 9 a.m. Eastern Time. [00:40:56] Until then, remember, the monkey's dead. [00:40:58] The show's over. [00:40:58] Sue ya.
