[00:01:30] I happen to catch on YouTube one of those classic moments of inspiration from a high school or football coach telling people, you can do it! [00:01:44] Success is made by inches and clawing and you've got to believe and the only way you're going to lose is if you quit and all this stuff. [00:01:58] We're just like, yeah, yeah. [00:02:00] I think that's correct. [00:02:02] Kind of makes sense. [00:02:03] And I was thinking to myself, would I really tell young people that today? [00:02:09] If I were really telling them the truth. [00:02:11] I mean, what I tell them is, yes, I mean, I think I would. === Best Hedge Against Inflation (03:06) === [00:02:15] Look, if you quit, you're not going to succeed. [00:02:18] But can you do anything? [00:02:21] No. [00:02:23] Can you do anything you put your mind to? [00:02:26] No. [00:02:28] No. [00:02:29] Is there a meritocracy? [00:02:32] No. [00:02:33] Sometimes. [00:02:34] Not always. [00:02:36] The best advice you can possibly give people... [00:02:41] It's to accept failure when it is inevitable and to understand that not everything is the way it should be. [00:02:52] Now, that's not exactly motivational, but it's true. [00:02:58] And I'm going to explain. [00:03:01] But first, a word from our sponsor. [00:03:06] Noble Gold Investments is pleased to let you know. [00:03:10] That gold is the best investment class for 2022. [00:03:14] Through all our record-breaking inflation rate, crashing market, crypto scams, there is one asset that held its own. [00:03:23] Gold. [00:03:24] According to longtermtrends.net, gold has actually outperformed the S&P 500, Dow, and Bitcoin for 2022. [00:03:34] Had you invested in the S&P 500 a year ago, You would be down more than 20%. [00:03:40] If you invested in Bitcoin a year ago, you'd be down more than 65%. [00:03:45] And if you invested in the Dow a year ago, you would be down almost 10%. [00:03:50] Yes, gold has outperformed them all in 2022, and silver is not far behind. [00:03:56] Yes, while the world was busy hailing other assets as the real hedge, gold and silver are the only assets that would have protected your wealth. [00:04:07] So join the thousands of others by opening a gold IRA or a silver IRA with Noble Gold Investments. [00:04:15] Get in before the end of this month and you'll bag a free one quarter ounce American Gold Eagle coin with every qualified IRA of $50,000 or more. [00:04:28] You can't go wrong with Noble Gold Investments. [00:04:31] And there are thousands of five-star reviews. [00:04:34] And remember... [00:04:36] There's always a risk of investment and there's no guarantee of any kind. [00:04:41] I love when people have told me throughout life you can do whatever you want if you put your mind to it. [00:04:49] That's not true. [00:04:50] That's not even remotely true. [00:04:52] Not even close to being true. [00:04:57] Not even... [00:04:58] I mean, you cannot... [00:05:01] I cannot be a center for The New York Knickerbockers. === Understanding Limits (08:41) === [00:05:08] And the reason for it is height restrictions, talent, ability, no experience. [00:05:14] But given all those things, I cannot. [00:05:18] Man may not be able to break certain records. [00:05:22] We might not be able to run 60 miles an hour. [00:05:26] Now you can say to yourself, well that doesn't count. [00:05:29] Those are just limitations. [00:05:30] But there are limitations. [00:05:33] And it's critical to understand them. [00:05:36] It's important to tell people that when you do something, make sure you do it based upon the reasonable belief, the reasonable expectation of success, based upon a system of competition that is, well, understandable. [00:05:54] Is there a meritocracy? [00:05:56] No, because I can't even understand it. [00:05:58] Look. [00:05:59] We can talk about things like sports. [00:06:01] Sports are wonderful because sports gives you exactly numbers. [00:06:05] You ran this fast, you scored these many points, and I mean, you can have variations within it because the referees might be wrong or inept, and that could affect certain things. [00:06:17] But for the most part, sports is pretty much points and time limits, and you ran out of time and all this sort of stuff. [00:06:24] And that happens, okay? [00:06:28] Life's not like that. [00:06:31] There's this subjective thing that most of us have to go through. [00:06:34] There's this subjective thing. [00:06:37] I was listening or watching a movie about somebody trying to court somebody. [00:06:44] This was the days, I guess, when we had movies like that where somebody tried to catch the fancy of a young lady. [00:06:54] Is there anything you can do about that? [00:06:55] No. [00:06:56] This is completely Out of your realm of reference, I mean, to an extent, you can avoid doing something untoward, but it's up to somebody just liking you. [00:07:08] Were the Beatles the greatest musical band of all time? [00:07:12] I don't know. [00:07:13] How do you even measure that? [00:07:15] I don't know. [00:07:16] Were there better bands at the time? [00:07:19] Probably. [00:07:20] Why aren't they the Beatles? [00:07:22] I don't know. [00:07:23] I don't know. [00:07:26] Yeah, but didn't they try hard? [00:07:29] Didn't they follow all of the rules? [00:07:32] Yes, they did. [00:07:33] Well, shouldn't they have been awarded Beatle status? [00:07:38] Well, maybe in the perfect world, but they took your advice. [00:07:44] They practiced. [00:07:45] They did everything right. [00:07:46] I know. [00:07:47] I don't know why. [00:07:49] I don't know. [00:07:52] Kids have to understand this. [00:07:54] Because it's very unfair to tell people, you can overcome everything if you work hard. [00:08:00] That's not true. [00:08:03] To accept life is to accept limitations. [00:08:07] That's not to be a defeatist. [00:08:09] You can do tremendous changes, tremendous things. [00:08:14] You can do so much. [00:08:15] You can do so, so much. [00:08:18] If you put your mind to it, if you try, if you do a lot of things. [00:08:20] But the idea that everything is subject to success and victory is wrong. [00:08:28] It's not fair to do that. [00:08:29] It's unfair to give people the impression that everything is there for you. [00:08:36] Now, I know that what I just said would never be acceptable in a commencement exercise. [00:08:48] In a locker room speech? [00:08:53] No! [00:08:54] And I understand that because you almost need to create almost this pathological frenzy that's a part of this. [00:09:07] I understand. [00:09:10] Kind of like the berserker mentality. [00:09:14] But reality is a very, very unfair thing. [00:09:17] And it's a very, very tough thing for people to grasp in terms of the reality of it. [00:09:33] You know, I understand that perception is a wonderful thing. [00:09:42] And my answer to everybody is, it is balance. [00:09:45] It is balance. [00:09:46] You are constantly on that. [00:09:48] Have you seen that little balance board at gyms where you stand on it and you try to do arm curls and maintain? [00:09:56] They always say, it's about the core. [00:09:59] You've got to build your core. [00:10:00] Everybody was talking about the core. [00:10:02] All of a sudden, overnight, everybody was talking about the core. [00:10:06] But there was this balance. [00:10:08] And that's life. [00:10:10] Don't go to this side too much. [00:10:12] Don't be too optimistic. [00:10:13] Don't be too pessimistic. [00:10:15] Just balance it. [00:10:18] Balance it. [00:10:20] And there's also something that is the most important to tell people, but you can't. [00:10:26] And that is create your own reality. [00:10:29] What do I mean by that? [00:10:30] One of the abilities that successful people have is this thing called get over it. [00:10:37] Especially failure. [00:10:38] Remember, success needs no encouragement, no instruction. [00:10:43] You know, how do I handle this? [00:10:45] No, no, you'll do just fine. [00:10:46] But failure, dejection, loss. [00:10:51] These are the things which are so critical. [00:10:55] And these are the things because, unfortunately, there's more of that than the other one, which is true, by definition. [00:11:04] And one of the tricks is to be able to create your own reality. [00:11:08] To be able to say, you know what? [00:11:09] This doesn't even matter. [00:11:13] This isn't that important. [00:11:16] This will come and go. [00:11:18] This is no big deal. [00:11:20] So what? [00:11:21] Time to move on. [00:11:22] So what? [00:11:24] Big deal. [00:11:25] It happened. [00:11:26] Didn't really matter to me that much in the first place. [00:11:28] What was I thinking? [00:11:30] So what? [00:11:31] Come to think of it. [00:11:33] I didn't really want that in the first place. [00:11:34] Is that delusion? [00:11:36] Is it? [00:11:37] Might be. [00:11:40] But it's very defense mechanistic. [00:11:43] You will go farther, not farther, further in life by being able to adjust reality and re-evaluate, re-equate yourself with, quote, failure by looking at things differently. [00:11:58] If something went wrong, You can either lament, cry, be dejected, or maybe convince yourself that it really wasn't that important in the first place. [00:12:11] Is that delusional? [00:12:13] I don't think so. [00:12:15] Not if it gets you through the day. [00:12:17] Not only that, it doesn't matter. [00:12:19] It's already over. [00:12:20] See, nobody will tell you this. [00:12:22] Read these. [00:12:23] There's so much... [00:12:25] In our world today where people are always giving you advice and do this and do this, but nobody ever tells you advice, real advice. [00:12:33] It's almost like, you know, when you're bitten by something, they'll tell you, no, that other stuff, don't use a tourniquet, don't run around, don't do this, that can actually increase the poison or whatever it is. [00:12:46] Sometimes old wives tales and mythology will actually hurt us more than the reality of things. [00:12:52] And that's what this is about. [00:12:56] Change your reality. [00:12:58] Change your perception. [00:13:01] Again, not being delusional, not being wacky, but alter the way you appreciate things and alter the way you adapt or the amount of significance you give to failure. [00:13:14] Think about what I'm saying very carefully. [00:13:16] Think about it. [00:13:16] It's the best advice anybody's ever given you in quite a long time. [00:13:21] Now, if you'd like, I would appreciate you liking this video, subscribing to the channel, hitting that little bell, and I want to see your comments. [00:13:30] I want to see, what do you think? [00:13:32] Does this make sense to you? [00:13:34] Have I opened up a new level of consciousness, a new appreciation, a new level of awareness? [00:13:42] Or am I all wet, as they say?
