| So, one of the reasons that I decided to stay in the present day and check this stuff out as opposed to retreating to the past as we are wont to do from time to time is that someone in our Facebook group said that Alex... | ||

| I was like, well, I mean, we always got to pay attention to these dog situations. | ||
| And at the beginning of the show, he does definitely talk about a dead dog. | ||
| The allegory, the analogy is like this. | ||
| I had a Labrador Retriever named Max from the time I was five years old. | ||
| To the time I was 20. And that's 15 years is a long time for a lab. | ||
| And he had hip dysplasia. | ||
| We would have had to put him down when he was 12. But I would take him to the vet and I would get him to give him corticotypic steroids, which later can make your arteries explode, can make your muscles fall apart, can mess up your joints. | ||
| He'd have been dead. | ||
| He couldn't get up. | ||
| There's no surgeries for that. | ||
| So it's a catch-22. | ||
| He lived three more years. | ||
| And I worked for a large animal vet, Sonny, all about Depomedrol and stuff. | ||
| Some of these vets would go, well, we're going to give you this little bottle, but don't give him more than that because it could hurt him. | ||
| Well, when the regular dose wouldn't work, I'd give him more because I would call back and talk to the vet I knew in East Texas. | ||
| And he said it was a catch-22, just give him more. | ||
| But I'd have to go to maybe two vets to get enough of it, because vets wouldn't give me enough. | ||
| Well, I made the decision to not put the dog down, and he was happy. | ||
| I'd give him twice what you're supposed to give him, supposedly, and the dog would be up in a day, happy, running around. | ||
| He lived three more years. | ||
| So I'm going to explain this, and I know the audience can disagree if you want, or you can agree, but it's like this country, ladies and gentlemen, is a Labrador with hip dysplasia. | ||
| Trump's got the right course. | ||
| He's trying to build industry. | ||
| He's trying to empower the people. | ||
| He's trying to build up the military because that's all we've got. | ||
| So, another day in Alex Jones' show and another fucking conversation about a dead dog. | ||
| That's weird. | ||
| I want to be clear right out of the gate, Jordan, in saying that I'm not going to sit here and pretend that this is evidence of Alex killing a dog or trying to pretend that I don't understand the allegory he's attempting to present. | ||
| I'm only taking the time to discuss this clip for two reasons. | ||
| The first is pretty obvious, and that is, compared to normal people, Alex Jones brings up dead dogs a whole lot. | ||
| He compares almost everything, any situation, to a dead dog. | ||
| He uses memories of dead dogs as an excuse for emotional outbursts. | ||
| He, on multiple occasions, has compared his enemies to dogs that need to be put down. | ||
| I'm not in any position to say with certainty why that's the case, but Alex absolutely has a preoccupation with the death of dogs. | ||
| Based on what I've heard on his show, if he talked like this in therapy, his psychologist would be negligent if they didn't ask follow-up questions. | ||
| The second reason I bring this up is that I don't think the allegory he's making leads to the conclusion he wants it to. | ||
| In his story, he had an ailing dog who everybody told him should be put down. | ||
| But he was stubborn and didn't want to listen to their advice. | ||
| He'd worked part-time in a farm setting, so he was sure that he knew better than all the doctors and veterinarians. | ||
| In order to keep his dog alive, he broke the law and scammed medicines from multiple veterinary clinics to give to the dog, which allowed the dog to survive three more years, at which point it still died. | ||
| According to Drugs.com, Depomedrol is generally used in dogs to, quote, alleviate pain and lameness associated with acute localized arthritic conditions and generalized arthritic conditions. | ||
| When a dog is being given Depomedrol, they're generally... | ||
| A great deal of pain, and that pain is relieved by the drugs. | ||
| Depomedrol is also used to help dogs with seasonal allergies, but that's clearly not what Alex is talking about here. | ||
| The decision to put a dog down is always an incredibly difficult one, and I find it hard to criticize someone too harshly for coming down on either side of the choice. | ||
| On the one hand, knowing that the animal you love is in constant pain is really hard to deal with, but on the other hand, it's really hard to fight the instinct humans can feel they can fix things. | ||
| Love of a pet can be blinding, and rationality can go out the window, replaced by naive notions that you can make things right and help your loved one stay around forever. | ||
| The thing is that you can't. | ||
| Alex's actions, which were definitely illegal, only serve to put off the inevitable, which is that his dog died. | ||
| This is why the allegory doesn't work. | ||
| What he's describing is the very definition of Kixotic. | ||
| He's likening doping up his dog on painkillers instead of putting it to sleep to what Trump is doing for America. | ||
| Trump knows better than the metaphorical veterinarians that he's pumping the country full of painkillers in order to keep things moving. | ||
| But just like Alex's dog, this doesn't end in a miraculous cure. | ||
| This still leads to death. | ||
