Radio Renaissance - Jared Taylor - Jared Taylor, Expert Witness (1994) Aired: 2022-01-09 Duration: 01:45 === Young Black Men on Trial (01:45) === [00:00:00] That's all in the defense ploy, to get him off with a lighter sentence. [00:00:05] Mr. Osby has been a witness of a considerable amount of violence. [00:00:11] Jared Taylor, author of a book on race relations, testified for the defense with a bombshell of an argument that young black men pose an unusual threat. [00:00:21] My role was simply to explain to the jury that... [00:00:25] Black men are more dangerous than white men. [00:00:28] Men are more dangerous than women. [00:00:30] Young men are more dangerous than old men. [00:00:32] And therefore, since his assailants were two young black men, they were, statistically speaking, the most dangerous people in America. [00:00:39] But how do you argue that young black men are more dangerous than white men? [00:00:44] What's your statistical evidence there? [00:00:46] The statistics come from the Federal Bureau of Investigation. [00:00:49] Black people in 1992 committed 55% of the homicides. [00:00:53] They were 12% of the population. [00:00:55] This gives a homicide rate that is nine times higher than the white homicide rate. [00:01:00] You can't argue about that. [00:01:01] So if what you say is true, then Damien Osby's attackers had just as much reason to fear him as he did to fear them. [00:01:10] No, that's not true. [00:01:11] They're all young black men. [00:01:13] Yes, they are young black men, but... [00:01:16] Just because young black men are more likely to commit violent crimes than, say, old white women, it doesn't mean that every young black man is going to commit a violent crime. [00:01:26] Taylor's testimony was not challenged during the trial, but certainly left members of the black community outraged. [00:01:33] We're talking about a community now, a community on trial. [00:01:37] Prosecutor Renee Harris grew up in East Fort Worth. [00:01:40] I know people there, I have relatives in that area, and overwhelmingly those are law-abiding people.
