Radio Renaissance - Jared Taylor - Silicon Valley: A Shocking Lack of Diversity Aired: 2021-05-12 Duration: 07:30 === Tech Industry's Diversity Dilemma (07:20) === [00:00:03] Hello, I'm Jared Taylor with American Renaissance. [00:00:08] Amazon, the internet retailer, is the latest tech company to release shameful employment statistics on race. [00:00:16] Jesse Jackson had been haranguing Amazon since May, and in September he threatened"action" if the company wouldn't fess up to how few blacks it hires. [00:00:27] Now we know the dismal truth. [00:00:30] 71% of Amazon's managers are white and 18% are Asian. [00:00:36] Only 4% are Hispanic and only 4% are black. [00:00:41] Unlike other tech companies, Amazon wouldn't even say how many of its engineers are black or Hispanic. [00:00:48] Those numbers would probably have been even more scandalous. [00:00:53] "I am disappointed," says Jesse. [00:00:58] All the companies that have coughed up numbers on tech workers have disappointed the Reverend even more. [00:01:04] Here's Facebook. [00:01:06] 53% of the programmers are white and 41% are Asian. [00:01:11] Hispanics are a measly 3% and blacks are just 1%. [00:01:16] Well, Facebook is very sorry. [00:01:19] We have a long way to go, but we're absolutely committed to achieving greater diversity. [00:01:25] Says Maxine Williams, the company's global director of diversity. [00:01:30] Here are the numbers for Yahoo's technical workers: Whites are 35%, Asians 57%, Hispanics 3%, and Blacks 1%. [00:01:41] And then finally, here are Google's figures for tech worker diversity: 60% White, 34% Asian, 2% Hispanic, and just 1% Black. [00:01:53] In all these companies, about 85% of the techies are men. [00:01:59] Another horrifying fact. [00:02:01] Google is very sorry, too. [00:02:04] It gives every employee diversity training to help uncover hidden biases, and it assigns what it calls"Googlers in Residence" to black colleges so that they can recruit blacks full-time. [00:02:18] But it's the same sad story all across Silicon Valley. [00:02:23] A lamentable lack of blacks, Hispanics, and women. [00:02:28] As Jesse Jackson will tell you, this is proof of discrimination. [00:02:33] But it's an odd kind of discrimination. [00:02:36] As you'll have noticed, but as the hand-wringers never seem to notice, there must be very sharp discrimination in favor of Asians. [00:02:46] Given their percentages in the American population, when it comes to high-tech jobs, An Asian is seven times more likely than a white to be working at Google. [00:02:57] At Facebook, Asians are ten times more likely to get these jobs, and at Yahoo they are 21 times more likely than whites to be engineers or programmers. [00:03:08] Tech companies are silent about this shocking discrimination, and not one has promised to correct it. [00:03:16] But when it comes to blacks and Hispanics, the industry sees a crisis. [00:03:21] Apple's CEO Tim Cook says,"I'm not satisfied with the numbers. [00:03:27] We've been working hard for quite some time to improve them." Mitch Kapoor, the legendary creator of Lotus 1-2-3, frets about"fixing Silicon Valley's diversity problems." His wife, Freda, [00:03:42] shown with him here, complains that Silicon Valley is"steeped in the pernicious myth of the meritocracy." The pernicious myth. [00:03:53] But seriously, does anyone, even Jesse Jackson, really believe that there are thousands of first-rate lady programmers who are black and Mexican, but that the entire tech industry hires mediocre white and Asian guys instead? [00:04:10] Every company? [00:04:11] If there really were swarms of unemployed black and Hispanic tech wizards out there begging for work, I bet you could hire them for something less than the prevailing Silicon Valley pay rates. [00:04:23] Maybe way less. [00:04:25] How come we've never heard of a single company snapping up all this desperate cut-rate talent and then making boom-time profits? [00:04:33] And if the tech billionaires are secret racists, they sure do a good job of hiding it. [00:04:40] In 2010, Mark Zuckerberg, who runs Facebook, Gave $100 million to the overwhelmingly black Newark School District. [00:04:49] But his company shuts out blacks and Hispanics? [00:04:53] Yahoo! is run by a woman, Marissa Mayer. [00:04:56] Even as a big-time executive, she mentored children at East Palo Alto Charter School, which has hardly any white students at all. [00:05:05] She a secret bigot? [00:05:07] Bill Gates has spent hundreds of millions of dollars on African children. [00:05:12] Is Microsoft run by closet white supremacists? [00:05:16] I guess so. [00:05:18] We're supposed to believe that the whole industry discriminates shamelessly against blacks and Hispanics but, oddly, discriminates in favor of Asians. [00:05:27] It's baffling. [00:05:29] Google's Director of Diversity and Inclusion, Nancy Lee, is determined to solve the problem but doesn't know what causes it. [00:05:38] As she explains, There's a tremendous curiosity within our workforce about why we look the way we do. [00:05:47] Well, Nancy, let me explain it to you. [00:05:50] Asians are better at programming than whites. [00:05:53] Whites are better at it than Hispanics. [00:05:56] Hispanics are better at it than blacks. [00:05:58] And men are better at it than women. [00:06:01] And, Nancy, I don't mean to shock you, but the evidence is overwhelming that these differences are innate, genetic. [00:06:10] That is why every single high-tech company looks just like yours. [00:06:16] Silicon Valley is packed with smart people. [00:06:19] Are we supposed to believe that not one in the whole industry has figured out that Asians make better engineers than blacks? [00:06:26] Phooey. Plenty of them know. [00:06:29] They're just too frightened to say so. [00:06:32] It would be great if the CEO of Apple would quote IQ studies. [00:06:36] When he's asked, how come there are no blacks on the iPhone 7 design team? [00:06:41] But I'm afraid that's fantasy. [00:06:44] But wouldn't it be refreshing if just one high-tech exec would say, first of all, Jesse, it's none of your business who we hire. [00:06:52] We hire the best people we can, and if they turn out to be white and Asian, get used to it. [00:06:57] Now, buzz off. [00:06:59] More fantasy, I suppose. [00:07:02] Maybe someday a Chinese CEO or an Indian will say that, but a white man? [00:07:08] No chance. === I Hate Admitting (00:21) === [00:07:09] White people have let themselves be so browbeaten and demoralized that they refuse to admit even the most obvious facts if they violate racial orthodoxy. [00:07:20] They'd rather look fools than step out of line and tell the truth. [00:07:25] I hate ever to admit that Eric Holder is right, but he's right about one thing.
