Radio Renaissance - Jared Taylor - Diversity Means Fewer White People Aired: 2021-02-18 Duration: 07:28 === NHL's Diversity Dilemma (05:21) === [00:00:04] Hello, I'm Jared Taylor with American Renaissance. [00:00:07] These videos are not being promoted in the normal way. [00:00:11] So, if you like them, send them to your friends. [00:00:14] Or send them to people you just want to irritate. [00:00:17] For years, lefties have complained that the National Hockey League is too white. [00:00:22] Here are typical headlines. [00:00:24] The racist culture of Canadian hockey. [00:00:27] The problem with U.S. hockey. [00:00:30] Racial diversity. [00:00:31] What they mean is not enough diversity. [00:00:33] And hockey has long been about white machismo. [00:00:37] Can the NHL change that? [00:00:40] Well, just this week, the Wall Street Journal jumped on the bandwagon with what could be the harshest headline of all. [00:00:47] Diversify or die. [00:00:49] The National Hockey League has a demography problem. [00:00:52] The league has been talking to William Frey, a demographer at Brookings Institute, who makes a good living telling folks that white people are on their way out. [00:01:02] He spooked the league when he explained that 40% of Americans are already non-white and that non-whites will soon be the majority. [00:01:11] And so, as a recent NHL policy paper puts it, now, more than ever, hockey must focus on the drastic demographic and cultural change that is coming. [00:01:22] Yep, demography changes everything. [00:01:24] I wonder when the Republicans will figure that out. [00:01:28] But the reasoning here... [00:01:33] Well, if that's true, why didn't professional basketball die long ago? [00:01:39] 81% of the players are black in a country that's only 13% black. [00:01:44] Why doesn't basketball have to diversify or die? [00:01:49] The National Football League is 70% black. [00:01:52] Why isn't William Frey pestering the teams to hire more white guys? [00:01:56] Well, I'll tell you why. [00:01:58] Because anything that's white, like professional hockey, or classical music, or birdwatching, or the state of Maine, is by definition no good and has to change. [00:02:10] Diversity is just a way of saying too many white people. [00:02:13] That's why hockey, which is white, has to diversify or die. [00:02:17] But basketball is wonderful because there are practically no whites left. [00:02:21] There is a group called the Institute for Diversity and Ethics in Sport that says this explicitly. [00:02:28] It gives every professional league a grade for diversity. [00:02:32] As it noted, in an ethnic breakdown of sports, NBA takes lead for most diverse. [00:02:39] It's practically all black but gets top marks for diversity? [00:02:43] That's because diversity means having as few whites as possible. [00:02:48] And that's why Major League Baseball, which you actually could call diverse, gets a lower grade. [00:02:55] Only 58% of the players are white, so whites are underrepresented. [00:02:59] But that's not good enough. [00:03:01] If baseball wants a better diversity score, it needs to get rid of those white players and look more like basketball. [00:03:08] Well, to understand diversity, let us turn to the New York Times. [00:03:13] In June, the paper heaped scorn on Canadian hockey as boringly white and held up the Toronto Raptors basketball team as more like what Canada truly deserves. [00:03:25] It dug up an immigrant to say just what the paper wanted to hear. [00:03:30] You only see white people playing hockey, said Andrew Guyen, 19, whose parents came to Toronto from Vietnam. [00:03:38] But basketball is more like what the nation is like. [00:03:42] How much did they have to pay Andrew Guyen to say something that stupid? [00:03:47] Here are the Toronto Raptors. [00:03:50] There are 18 men on the team. [00:03:52] Only two are white. [00:03:54] The guy in the front row is a light-skinned black. [00:03:57] Canada is 3.4% black and 73% white. [00:04:03] Does Andrew Guyen think he's living in Nigeria? [00:04:06] Even famously diverse Toronto, where Andrew lives, is still about half-white and only 9% black. [00:04:13] It doesn't look like the Raptors. [00:04:16] And just this week, the Times was back to complaining about how miserably white Canadian hockey is and how marvelously representative the Raptors are. [00:04:26] The Times gloried in how the team's racial, cultural, and socioeconomic diversity reflected the country as a whole. [00:04:36] Here's another picture of the Raptors. [00:04:37] Does even the Times believe its own baloney? [00:04:41] Yes, because diversity means as few whites as possible. [00:04:46] It's not as though the NHL is all white. [00:04:48] Pro hockey got its first black player, Willie O'Ree, back in 1958. [00:04:54] He wasn't much of a player, but he's in the Hockey Hall of Fame because he was the first black. [00:05:01] And every year, the NHL gives out the Willie O'Ree Community Hero Award. [00:05:06] There are plans to grant him the Congressional Gold Medal in the U.S. You know who got the first one? === NHL's Diversity Push (02:17) === [00:05:12] George Washington. [00:05:14] Last season, the NHL had 33 black players. [00:05:18] How many black kids grow up even playing hockey? [00:05:22] The league is hunting high and low for these unicorns. [00:05:25] And the NHL is straining every muscle. [00:05:28] To end its shameful homogeneity. [00:05:32] It has a hockey is for everyone program to persuade even the most unlikely people to play hockey. [00:05:37] It's going for Asians, black history, gay pride, girls and women. [00:05:43] But since the only diversity that really counts is non-whites, this month, hockey commissioner Gary Bettman ordered mandatory diversity training for all coaches and personnel. [00:05:55] And they'll get it every year. [00:05:57] Just in case they forgot. [00:05:59] The NHL celebrates Black History Month. [00:06:02] As the very lefty Guardian newspaper noted, the league has departed from its previous tone-deafness around Black History Month with a full slate of relevant programming. [00:06:14] It was tone-deaf on Black History? [00:06:16] Could someone explain to me why professional hockey should care at all about Black History Month? [00:06:22] Well, now it's got a full slate. [00:06:25] Of videos of blacks talking about, and I quote, racism, breaking down barriers in hockey, and personal stories. [00:06:33] The league even has a mobile black history museum that travels all around the country. [00:06:38] American legacy. [00:06:40] Know your history. [00:06:41] Pro football and pro basketball don't even do that. [00:06:45] The whiter you are, the more you have to celebrate black history, I guess. [00:06:50] So there you have it. [00:06:51] Hockey has got to diversify or die. [00:06:54] Basketball and football can stay just as black as they like. [00:06:58] Baseball is still suspiciously white. [00:07:01] You see, sports are like everything else. [00:07:04] Too many whites is just plain wrong, and you can never have too many people of color, especially blacks. [00:07:12] The message is clear, isn't it? [00:07:14] White people are like an infestation, like termites or bedbugs, and the quicker they can be disposed of, the better. [00:07:22] And so pretty soon, What I'm about to do could be against the law, so I'll say it while I can.
