Ruuben Kaalep: "A Call to Action from a Small White Country" (2016)

Time Text
Our final speaker for this afternoon is associated with the Conservative People's Party of Estonia.
And this Conservative Party, unlike our Conservatives, is genuinely committed to conserving the people of Estonia, the founding genetic substrate of their nation and their culture.
The party came into existence only in 2012, but now it's the sixth largest party in the Parliament.
Their view on immigration is that anything that alters the ethnic makeup of Estonia is scandalous and undemocratic.
How refreshing.
Ruben Callep is a student of history and he is the founder of and the spokesman for The youth movement of the Conservative People's Party, which is known as Blue Awakening.
And today he'll speak to us on a subject called A Call to Action from a Small White Country.
Please welcome Ruben Kelley.
All things will come to an end.
When you are 22 years old, the whole life seems to be ahead of you.
I see a lot of you here who are my age.
Some of you are even younger than me.
You are the future of your nation.
I want to encourage you as a member of a rapidly growing youth movement and a rapidly growing nationalist party.
I want to show you that no matter how alone you might feel with your views, when you act, Will finally pay off.
And you can be part of something great.
I want to encourage you.
For we are the generation who has been sitting on a rusty balcony dreaming of an ethnostate.
But all things will come to an end.
Perhaps On my way home, I will be struck down by another jihadist airline bombing.
Perhaps the Samsung option will be launched tomorrow and we will all perish in nuclear fire.
Or perhaps, a few years from now, we will all be executed for being white, cisgender, heterosexual, male, oppressive shitlords.
After men spreading in public and failing to check our privilege in the current year.
Or perhaps, just perhaps, not all of us.
Perhaps some of us will be there for the glorious day when we have won our struggle and established white European...
European ethnostates all across the Western world.
Perhaps the future god-emperor of the American white ethnostate is sitting in this very room.
We have no way of knowing this.
things will come to an end.
When and how?
We do not know.
But where does your story begin?
Where does my story begin?
I guess it begins with childhood.
What is growing up in a huge multicultural city where even the neighbors are strangers compared to the wilderness of the countryside?
Where your home is not limited to four walls and occasional walks to the supermarket, but includes forest, lakes, fields, and most importantly, the vast unexplored land beyond.
I was lucky to have it.
I remember getting lost in the forest.
Watching huge eagles in the sky looking for prey to bring to their nest.
I remember running away from thunderstorms and a magic man in a tractor who gave me a ride.
A child has the wildest imagination possible.
Give a child a knowledge of the mythology of his ancestors.
Let a child...
Explore the forest on his own, and he will soon find kingdoms, battlefields, and portals to the underworld.
And he will have a connection with a place for the rest of his life.
He will have stories that make a place truly home.
He will have a home that builds his identity.
Where does the story really begin?
Is the home just a backstory for a person who is defined by his name, his age, and his occupation?
Or is it something bigger?
For neither I, nor my home, nor the stories that spawn into existence from a blank page.
We all are a result.
We all have roots deeper than those of the old pine trees where the eagles have their nests.
My roots are in Estonia, a small country on the coast of the Baltic Sea where past meets the future.
My people are the Estonian people, a nation Of just a million, but with a history that reaches back 12,000 years to the last ice age.
When you look on a map and find that never really peaceful corner of Europe, you will know that this is a place where European Christian civilization meets the ancient pagan heritage.
A place where a thousand islands glow nearby deep forests with wolves, bears, and flying squirrels.
A place that has seen both glorious victories of its people and some of the darkest years of the communist occupation.
A place that still remains one of the last white countries on planet Earth.
A place that...
My people defended from countless invaders until, one by one, they all had left.
Even the communists, who for years had to fight the brave soldiers of the Estonian Legion and the partisans known as the Forest Brothers, who refused to come out of hiding even many years after the World War II had ended.
I walk past ancient battlefields or castles of which there are many in my country.
I know that I am connected to my ancestors by a sacred line that spans millennia, a line that includes culture, language, genetics, and identity.
The story of this identity is one of survival.
Especially during the last thousand years, you could call this survival a miracle.
But this miracle was not just true sheer luck.
Our survival became possible thanks to never-ending fight and countless sacrifices.
And a sacrifice requires something for what you are willing to...
Put yourself in a risk.
This something cannot and will never in the future be just a collection of abstract principles such as faith, freedom, or pardon my French, human rights.
The sacrifice that ensures a nation's survival is made for a people, an ancestral tradition.
For a magic connection between your roots and your wings, a nation.
For as long as history and human affairs go on, there will always be us and there will always be them.
There is no escape from our tribal nature.
Father Nation is not only a connection between past and future.
It also connects the various layers of our identity.
The local identity that you only know when you truly call a place home.
With a wider civilizational or racial identity until our common identity as a species And maybe even the identity of life itself.
This sense of national identity that grows out from home and its surroundings, from a local history so intense that every village and town has seen blood of your ancestors, is only possible for a nation that has owned a place on earth for countless generations.
To be an Estonian, you truly need a connection with the land.
And I truly have my little shire back in Estonia that seems so far away from all the evil in the world.
This is something that is also deeply entrenched in being a European and being a European nationalist.
Perhaps not so deeply in European colonial societies overseas.
This notion of a national identity should be something so clear, so self-evident, that it is rarely worth discussion.
But in our modern world, it is not.
Instead, it has become more of an hermetic knowledge.
A truth that is hidden and dangerous, lest we always discover it and give it a political dimension, an ethno-state.
We live amidst a cultural war, an era where attacks on our roots become ever more violent, and where we face a true extinction.
True invasion, low birth rates, and the poisoning of our living identity.
It is true in my country as well as yours.
I have not come here to America to tell you that you should not care for Europe.
I have come to tell you that for Europe you should care most of all for that small continent.
Thank you.
For that small continent is still where your roots lie.
That is the place to which you are connected through your ancestors.
For a nationalist, let him be Estonian, Swedish, Polish, French or Italian, European-ness is yet another layer of identity.
The European nations and cultures Truly represent the diversity and multicultural that is ironically lacking from the world in the time when, under the slogan of diversity and multiculturalism,
countless number of peoples are doomed for extinction or replacement with numb masses of global citizens in a global supermarket.
There is a need for a European perspective.
Because these dangers are faced by the whole European civilization, not only single nation states that encounter them one by one.
This European perspective might also be the one that most strongly resonates with white Americans.
Just take a look on the countries where your ancestors once came from.
Take a look on those places, the people there, and numbers.
Yes, numbers will be in our minds.
For one is bound to ask, how many immigrants can our lands carry?
How many Europeans will need to pointlessly perish until we see the danger?
How many of them will have to be among us until our borders will be shut?
And how many of us will have remained by the day to keep alive our nations?
Because the politicians who rule our countries are wrong.
They have been wrong countless times.
They are wrong because their view of the world has nothing to do with reality.
And this entire political class has to be eliminated.
Thank you.
Thus, it is still not enough to be aware of who you are.
What really matters is what path we choose in this world.
Do we seek to be left in peace and go along with the times despite all the destruction they bring?
Or shall we carry the weight of the world on our shoulders and take a stand that truly matters?
For we must not look for peace when the future of our children is at stake.
For if not us, if not us, then who will fight for them?
Not so long ago, my country was occupied by the Communist Soviet Union.
It was forbidden even to fly the national cars of Estonia.
People were sent to Siberia for doing that, for anti-communist activities.
And there were still brave people who secretly hoisted the flag until one day a man rode a bike through the capital city with the Estonian flag proudly waving in the wind behind him.
And nothing happened to him.
He was not taken to prison.
And the next day, there was not just one, not just ten, not just a hundred, but there were a thousand people with Estonian national colors marching through the city, singing Estonian national songs.
This was the beginning of the singing revolution, a sudden explosion of nationalism lit by just one spark.
In that time, 28 years ago, a nation arose from a long sleep with a marvelous flame that only burned so much to be soon extinguished under the spell of liberalism.
And now, we all seem to share the same fate.
To become outcasts on our own lands.
To be dispossessed, chased out and poisoned, and in best case, to become exhibits in an ethnographic museum.
How do we stop it?
Should we just turn back our clocks and return to a golden era where we were proud of our countries?
Where men were fathers and women were mothers?
Should you, as Americans, just simply go back to the golden 50s?
Or, as would be the case with my country, to the golden 30s?
Would this really be enough?
For we, as nationalists, tend to foresee dangers that others cannot.
And if it were the 50s, We would already smell in the air the looming cultural Marxism.
Or if it were the 30s, we would already taste in the waters the coming destruction of our future by a war.
So, should we turn our clocks back even more?
How about the time before World War I?
How about before the French Revolution?
How about my people returning to the way of life of the early feudal Viking Age before the violent Christianization destroyed it forever?
The truth is, we cannot escape our fate by winding back our clocks.
And that is where our conservative friends are badly mistaken.
For by escaping the current situation, We cannot escape the strings of history that brought us here.
It is not possible to freeze a living culture, for every civilization carries the seeds of its destruction already in its birth.
As devoid of light, as this truth may seem, it presents us with an opportunity.
The death and destruction of the West is nearing its singularity, and this is where we come in.
Our journey will be riding the tiger, connecting our roads to our wings, as if when we are circling the world, returning without ever turning.
When the Western world was celebrating diversity, we were the ones who foresaw its catastrophic destruction.
And when the world will be panicking in the ongoing catastrophe, we will be preparing to build a new world on the ruins of the old one.
We shall plant our roots in the center of this new world.
And in this new world, we will have wings that fly far higher and far further than ever before imagined.
Okay, let's do it.
How do you start a movement?
I have not always been a part of a strong nationalist youth organization where many of the brilliant young minds of my nation converge.
This only came around recently.
Once I was a 15-year-old dissident surrounded by peers who were either liberal or, what seemed worse for me at the time, they were ignorant.
They did not understand why I cared so much for my country, my people's past, and the future.
And I had grown to accept this.
Only in my wildest dreams did I imagine being together with many other nationalist boys and girls of my age.
When the time came, when the tide was turning, when a nationalist party was forming in Estonia, my friend and I began building a youth movement just on a shoestring.
We really did it in a small, cold, rusty, Soviet-style student dormitory that was so ominous-looking that students referred to it as Mordor.
And there we made plans, prepared speeches, and edited propaganda videos.
This was where we dreamed of a new national awakening, an awakening so strong.
That it would shake up the whole liberal system that would drown it in its own filth?
We began this movement by signaling nationalism.
We were like a little beacon among strong and powerful ones.
But unlike others, we were radiating viral nationalism.
There is a moment after you have lit a fire.
When you don't know yet if the fire is going to take hold.
So you just sit there and wait.
Will there be flames?
Will there be nothing?
And so we were sitting there, waiting for signs, waiting to know that somewhere for someone our message rang a bell.
What came next blew my mind.
One by one, they started arriving.
A college student from my university, a girl from a countryside farm, would-be artists, architects, writers, singers and historians, a security guard from a nightclub, both pagans and Christians, dreamers and builders,
a biker and a car mechanic.
Oh yes, the fire rises.
And not only in Estonia, for all across Europe.
The youth are not only getting flashy haircuts, but their minds are being freed from globalist chains.
Thank you.
When we had enough people in our movement, we decided to start bringing this fire out of hiding.
To let it flow through the streets of the capital city on the Independence Day, the day when Estonians honor their forefathers who sacrificed themselves for an ethno-state.
And so we started those torchlight marches that are now famous over Europe.
We started them in 2014 and we had 200 people on the first one.
And on the next year, we had a thousand people.
This was also the year when our party first entered the parliament with 8.2% of votes.
We have doubled our support ever since.
And this year, there were 2,000 people in our Deutschlandmarch.
So there I marched, together with all those nationally awoken people, In the midst of ethnic pride and the sense of our people's common past and future so strong that it could have stopped any malicious left-winger in his tracks.
There I marched, knowing both that we had finally done it and that there was so much yet left to do.
But how good it would be to take on this final fight together with my people, Those with whom I marched there, everyone holding a rising flame.
It was my dream of a strong nationalist movement that had finally become real.
And there my people marched together with fellow nationalists from Sweden, Finland, Latvia, Ukraine, and even as far as France.
And now?
I want to tell you a little story about tolerance.
Everyone in Eastern Europe knows that Poles and Lithuanians do not get along well.
In fact, Polish and Lithuanian nationalists pretty much hate each other.
This has to do with historical reasons and also concerns over the Polish minority in Lithuania.
So naturally, We invited both Polish and Lithuanian nationalists on our torchlight march this year.
We told the Lithuanians that the Poles are coming only when they were already traveling towards Estonia.
I'm not sure if we told the Poles at all that the Lithuanians were coming.
So anyway, we got them together.
We gave them torches to march for the future of Europe.
And believe it or not, they made friends later that night.
They made friends because they understood that at stake is the future of whole Europe.
And there are moments when we have to defend our continent together.
Moments when we need to light a fire in our torches together.
Because that flame that burns is the flame of hope for Europe.
So there you have it, liberals.
We are the ones who have actual accomplishments in the field of tolerance.
Yours are just empty words.
Because you cannot force tolerance.
You cannot force multiculturalism.
You can only have the real diversity and friendly relations between nations when you leave each nation with a homeland.
Homeland from which their roots grow.
And if they keep attacking our roots, then still one day we will be strong enough to secure our ethnostates for our children.
We are on our way towards it.
The story of my movement in Estonia is just one of the many.
There is a story in Estonian mythology.
About a beast called the Frog of the North who came to our land and burned whole cities with its breath.
Its mouth was so wide that it swallowed whole armies.
It devastated the country until a brave warrior killed the frog and saved the land.
But this story is a fake.
It has been distorted by Christianity.
It is a riddle where hints of the ancient Estonian religion have been hidden, a thwarted memory where good and evil have been reversed.
Originally, the Frog of the North was a god or a totem animal of the ancient Estonians.
It destroyed the armies of our enemies.
It might have been a symbol of our ancestors in battle.
It was a protector together with giants and ancient kings.
It was our guardian spirit until once it was slain.
But just like the giants, the frog of the north is not fully gone.
It sleeps somewhere in the deep bottom of the sea or in the solitude of forests or wetlands.
Until it is called to protect its people again.
And when it will be called, it awakens.
Not as an evil beast of destruction, but as a watchman over the land and annihilation of its enemies.
Perhaps the new incarnation of the Frog of the North will look like this.
Thank you.
And with this hopeful note, I will conclude my speech to answer your questions.
Thank you so much.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Poetry. Epic poetry.
I thank you for presenting it this afternoon.
You are welcome.
First of all, as a Polish person, I commend you on your work getting Poles and Lithuanians together.
Although the real challenge is getting Poles and Ukrainians together.
You can put that in the schedule.
My question is in regards to the relationship between Estonians and Russians because Russians are about some 30% of Estonia and I know in Latvia there are some tensions.
I was wondering what it's like in Estonia.
It is a problem because diversity always creates a conflict even if it's the same race.
But with the different nations, it still creates conflict because of different languages, different views and history.
And as it is in Estonia, where a lot of Russians who are Soviet-time immigrants in Estonia view themselves as liberators from fascism.
And Estonians, of course, know that Estonia was occupied by the communists.
Tension, ethnic tension between the native people and the minority.
If I could follow that up, does your party try to reach out to the Russians at all?
I know in Latvia the National Alliance there does tend to do that.
Does your party do a similar outreach?
I think that with the current immigration crisis, More of Russians will eventually come to support our party, actually, because when two white nations together face something that is not white,
then they will see that eventually it's better to work together and have our ethnic tensions.
We don't need those racial tensions.
Thank you.
I have two questions.
First, could you explain your party's rationale for objecting to abortion?
And also, just what do you mean by eliminating politicians as an entire political class?
First, our party's position on abortion is just that we want to end the state funding of abortions.
And abortion is a pretty big problem in Estonia.
I think, actually, the country in the European Union with the highest abortion rate.
So it is a problem.
And about eliminating the current liberal politicians, then yes, they have created basically closed caste that has so strong group thinking That doesn't resonate with the concerns of people at all.
And this is the case in every Western country, I think.
This is the case in every Western country.
And we need politicians who really represent the national interests of the people of their lands.
We need to replace the current politicians with real ones.
Real statesman.
Well, thank you very much for your interesting speech, and I think all of us appreciated its poetic language.
But, you know, and don't take this as a criticism at all, but I felt a little bit slighted by your kind of, call it to use a bit of a leftist term, your essentialist view.
Of European, I would say, nationhood and also continenthood.
Whereas, to my mind, European and Western civilization is defined by its Promethean impetus.
And it's part of our makeup to go and discover the world, and I think that is also how Europeans settled North America and other parts of the world, like...
South Africa and Southern Africa where we are experiencing, I hope, temporary difficulties.
Would you also acknowledge that you, even in Scandinavia, in some of the more pristine countries of Scandinavia...
You are also the products of a previous Volker Wanderung when the Germanic tribes swarmed all over Europe and eventually the Visigoths and the Ostrogoths also conquered, of course, Rome and Gaul and so on.
I would like to hear your reply to that.
Thanks. Yes, of course, we have been enriched in history.
Still, there are some connections that go back all the way to the end of the last ice age.
For example, Estonian language, which is one of the oldest languages in Estonia, in Europe.
And also, I think this Promethean sense of discovery, this will to...
Explore and go all over the world.
It kind of paradoxically has created a situation where descendants of these people who once went away from Europe have now lost their touch with the roots,
actually. Which is a sad thing.
I really enjoyed your talk.
I thought Jonathan Bowden might have been reincarnated there for a few moments.
One thing that, in that line, oftentimes when I meet people who are ethno-nationalist, I am fairly, I'm struck by the, to be honest, the narrowness of their approach.
Interest in saving a small country and not really caring about our heritage and the continent.
You seem to be, by the poetry and a lot of the ideas, you seem to be very influenced by identitarianism and things like this, which I think is great.
I think it's absolutely essential that the young people are motivated by these ideas and not older ethno-nationalist ones.
But I was just curious, as a young person...
In Estonia, who are you guys reading?
How are you connecting?
Who are some of the people that are generating your ideas and things like that?
Because one thing I'm struck by is just that we seem to really be on the same page of American activists and yourself.
Talk a little bit about that.
What's it like to be a shitlord in Estonia?
Well, I think that...
The alt-right in America is not only influencing young people in America, but all over Europe.
So people like you and Ramsey Ball and Greg Johnson and so on have a lot of followers all across the white world.
And also in Estonia, we're like...
All my friends were very excited when they found out that I will be meeting with all you fine people.
Hi. I just wanted to thank you very much for mentioning the Estonian Legion and for all of us in the European families that fought As a European people together against the scourge of Bolshevik Communism.
Thank you.
