Hi, welcome to another God's Grace is Greater segment, and I hope you guys are having a wonderful day.
We're going to continue our deep dive into the Gospel of Luke.
We're in chapter 8.
We're starting in verse 26, where we left off.
We left off with Jesus calming a storm.
He showed this incredible control, the supernatural power over the natural world.
And this is God's authority being shown to his disciples and man on earth.
And after that example, Jesus' boat, which is now in Comces, is landing in Gerasene.
And this is opposite side from Galilee.
And then we have this exchange where Jesus casts out a legion of demons.
And it's very powerful.
Just a quick note to anybody watching over on Rumble, or not Rumble, excuse me, on YouTube.
If you want to get access to my news show that I do every day, Monday through Friday, where I talk about the news and the headlines, the stuff I can't share on YouTube, or else they would ban me because YouTube doesn't allow the truth to be told on their platform anymore, please go in the description box below this video, and there's links to my Rumble channel and my Bitchute channel where I post those news shows every day.
I do a live show on Rumble.com.
JustInformTalk is the channel name.
And you can find access to those news shows over there.
And there is a BitChute channel where I just post the full videos if you're interested in that as well.
So all of that's in the description below.
But with that being said, let's talk about the scripture of our Lord and Savior, the gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Talking about Luke 8, verse 26, and we're going to read all the way up to verse 39.
And this is a very powerful story, and we're going to try to look at it, do a deep dive into it.
Let's read.
It says...
Then they sailed to the region of Gerasene, which is opposite Galilee.
When he got out on land, a demon-possessed man from the town met him.
For a long time he had worn no clothes and did not stay in a house but in the tombs.
When he saw Jesus, he cried out, fell down before him, and said in a loud voice, What do you have to do with me, Jesus, you son of the Most High God?
He says, Jesus asked.
Legion, he said, because many demons had entered him, and they begged him not to banish them to the abyss.
A large herd of pigs was there feeding on the hillside.
The demons begged him to permit them to enter the pigs, and he gave them permission.
The demons came out of the man and entered the pigs, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and drowned.
When the men who tended them saw what had happened, they ran off and reported it in the town and the countryside.
Then people went out to see what had happened.
They came to Jesus and found the man the demons had departed from, sitting at Jesus' feet, dressed and in his right mind, and they were afraid.
Meanwhile, the eyewitnesses reported to them how the demon-possessed man was delivered.
Then all the people of Jerasene region asked him to leave them, because they were gripped by great fear.
So getting into the boat, he returned.
The man from whom the demons had departed kept begging him to be with him.
But he sent him away and said, Go back to your home and tell all that God has done for you.
And off he went, proclaiming throughout the town all that Jesus had done for him.
um, Now this is a powerful story of Jesus driving out a legion of demons from a demon-possessed man who he comes across in this region of Geneserae.
And what I find most powerful about this verse in particular is how it tells this incredible story that not only shows the power of God through Jesus, his son, over the supernatural realm, Which we saw in the previous section, his power over the natural world, when he's asleep in the boat with his disciples as a fierce storm comes, and his disciples wake him and say, we're about to die!
And Jesus says, why have you, where is your faith?
And he gets up and he uses the power of God through him to calm the sea, and the storm disappears.
Now that's Jesus exhibiting God's power over the natural world, and Jesus then gives us an example of the power he possesses over the supernatural world in this very next set of events.
They land, and the first thing they're encountered by is a man who's demon-possessed, who's been...
I mean, listen to the description of this guy.
He's shackled, he's chained, he can't live in homes, he can't even keep his clothes on so he's naked, and he's being held in a cave because he can't live inside of a building.
And people were basically probably terrified of this guy because he's demon-possessed and running around doing crazy things.
But what happens?
Immediately, the demons within this man recognize the authority of Jesus.
And they say, and they beg him for mercy, which is crazy because if you think about it, they begged Jesus, this legion of demons that was living inside this man, begged Jesus not to send them where?
To the abyss.
Right?
That would be the fiery lake that we hear about.
The dark place that is hell.
And they beg him to allow them to go into some pigs that were nearby.
So there's a whole herd of pigs and Jesus says, okay, go to the pigs.
And what happens is crazy.
The pigs, when they are possessed by the demons, I guess, go crazy.
And the first thing they do is charge off of a cliff and all die.
Now, people in that area, the people obviously, the pig herders and those who were there nearby, saw all this happen in real time, and they're amazed, but they're afraid.
And they go and they tell all the people in the city what happened here.
They tell them, this man, Jesus, came and he drove out the demons and they went into the pigs and the pigs all committed suicide, essentially.
So what's their reaction?
Instead of reacting how we would hope they would and saying thanks be to God that he drove out the demons and that he did this great miracle and feat for us to be more safe and to help this man overcome his possession.
No.
They're angry.
And they're angry for two reasons.
They're angry first because of fear.
Because fear is a motivator for all kinds of negative emotions.
Fear drives people toward anger because what they are afraid of, they are naturally, I believe, angered by.
Because it's something they cannot control.
But then two...
There's a financial aspect to all of this.
That herd of pigs was being used by these people to earn money, to earn a living, right?
This was a huge financial setback for the people of that town.
They probably, it wasn't a big town or a major city, so losing an entire herd of pigs could have presumably cost them an enormous amount of financial setback and hardship.
So, how do they react?
They come to Jesus.
They find the man sitting there with him dressed and well.
And eyewitnesses tell them about how all of this happened.
But because they were gripped by such great fear, they tell Jesus, leave us.
And I think that's how a lot of people can react when they hear the word.
Not just those who are demon-possessed, but those who are just not with God, not able to understand the glory of God and His power.
They're afraid of it.
So their first reaction, a lot of the time, is to deny it, is to reject Him, is to say, get away from me, I can't handle this.
Because a lot of people either don't want to face the reality of having to know that there's a higher power beyond what they can control.
And a lot of people don't want to face their own mortality.
A lot of people are just afraid of the idea and concept that they might not live forever.
Although we all know what eventually we must end up doing, which is passing on.
But either way, this is a very telling tale of the human condition, right?
And how do we overcome this human condition?
Well, first, we do not let ourselves be controlled by fear.
Like those people denying Jesus because they were afraid, we in our lives must recognize and acknowledge the power of God and humble ourselves before it and accept it however it comes.
That is, to me, the ultimate lesson of this story.
And be thankful to God when He does do great things in our lives.
Sometimes people have, God will intervene in some people's lives and they will be terrified.
And fear is only going to lead to destruction.
There's only one healthy fear, and that's fear of God.
But it's not fearing God in the same way that these people were fearing Jesus when he drove out the demons.
Their fear was irrational.
It was panic.
It was not set in anything other than their inability to understand what was happening.
And, of course, it was rooted in their financial loss and these things that are tied to the materialism of this world.
The fear of God that I'm talking about that is healthy is reverence.
Reverence toward God.
Basically becoming reverent toward Him in a way that you understand He is more powerful than you.
Humbling yourself before God.
The humility that we're taught to have in our hearts.
So that's the lesson I want to give you guys.
And then finally we have this incredible, incredible exchange.
The man who's been healed is begging Jesus to go with him as Jesus is departing this town.
But Jesus says no.
He says, go back home and tell all that God has done for you.
Now that might happen in our lives as well.
Sometimes God may intervene in our lives in a way that we can't imagine, right?
But he'll tell us to go back and tell others the greatness of God so that we can save others and bring them to him.
You know, a lot of people, as soon as they get saved, all they want to do is go to church and be at church all the time.
And they want to be with the pastor all the time.
They only want to be around Christians.
And I get it.
I understand why you'd want to do that.
But perhaps, when we're saved in such an incredible way, we're meant to go to those places where we can help those who need God the most.
As Jesus told us, it's not the healthy who need a doctor, rather the sick.
And in the same way, when Jesus saves us and heals us, perhaps we should be trying to help all those who need him, and especially those who need him most.
Just like Jesus told this man to go back and proclaim what he had done for him.
Maybe God is calling you and I to go back and proclaim what he's done for us.
I know that's one of the ways I motivate myself every day is to remember how God saved me from a dark, terrible place where I was without a true faith in him.
My foundation was not solid.
To where I am now where all I want to do is share the gift he's given me.
The amazing gift of eternal salvation which he's given us all.
So that's my lesson for you guys today.
We're going to say a prayer and then we'll wrap it up.
Lord and Heavenly Father, we thank you for this amazing scripture.
This story that teaches us so many powerful lessons, Lord.
First, Lord, let us not live out of fear and panic when we realize your greatness and power.
Let us only fear you in reverence and humble ourselves before you, giving all thanks to you.
And Lord, let us also realize that the gift you give us, the healing, the salvation, the solace, the comfort, The love and the grace is not just meant for us to take and hold near to you always, even though you are always in our heart and near, but to take and share with others so that others might find your credible kingdom and find you more closely now than ever.
Help us to do that.
Help all those out there watching to do this, including myself, to help others more every day.
And I pray you'll help those who need you.
And I pray that if these words are meant to help just one person that they do, but I pray a multitude will find healing through understanding your scripture more closely and with better insight.
I pray you'll bless this lesson, that it reaches those who need to hear it.
And Lord, I thank you most of all for our eternal salvation through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Amen.
Alright, well, I hope you guys enjoyed that episode.
Somebody asked me real quick for a link to where you get this hat.
I think I've said it before on the show.
It was a gift.
I don't have a link for you, but it basically is a hat.
It's got a cross here, and it says, Not Ashamed.
I'm not ashamed.
And it's Romans chapter 1, verse 16.
And if you want to go read Romans chapter 1, verse 16, I think you'll have a good idea.
And you can read all the way.
Read Romans chapter 1, start at verse 16, and then read the whole thing, and you'll understand why I wear this hat every day.
But with that being said, I want to say thanks for everybody watching.
We'll see you on the next one.
