A video shows Venezuelan military personnel unloading crates of rifles from trucks, distributing them to civilians in a working-class neighborhood with patriotic slogans like, Defender La Patria, defend the homeland, and references to constitutional duty.
They ain't gonna go down without a fight.
Meanwhile, here's a question.
What is Trump really doing in Venezuela right now?
My little miracle is back at a month after his third.
It's no secret that right now the United States is trying to cut off Venezuelan oil from global markets.
They started off by seizing a Venezuelan oil tanker, and then a couple of days later, they announced a total blockade of Venezuelan oil, where they would stop any tankers coming out of Venezuela or going back into Venezuela.
The question is, why is the United States doing this and why now?
And of course, every answer to that question right now is mostly speculation.
And what I'm seeing is most people automatically speculating towards the most dramatic outcome, and perhaps not without cause, where they assume that the United States is actually preparing for war against Venezuela, which of course is not impossible.
However, I want to propose to you that that's not actually what's going on.
The question you have to ask is, once again, not just why is this happening, but why now?
And this is where things become very interesting.
Now, of course, the United States has their stated reason for what they're doing, but as usual with things like this, the stated reason is incomplete or over-exaggerated and also unsatisfying.
And the stated reason for the United States taking action is that Venezuela stole U.S. oil assets, which is partially true, but again, over-exaggerated.
The reality is that back in around 2007, the Hugo Chavez regime decided to nationalize the assets of certain U.S. oil companies.
Not assets that belonged to the U.S. government, but assets that belonged to U.S. taxpaying citizens.
And that is a legitimate grievance, and this was taken to arbitration.
And the results of that were also unsatisfying, where Venezuela basically never paid these companies for the assets that they took from them.
That is a legitimate grievance, but again, the question you have to ask is, why now?
If this was the real reason for what the United States is doing today, why didn't the United States take action much earlier, even during the first Trump administration, if this was such a big deal?
And what we realize is that since that is obviously not the real reason, but more likely an excuse for what's going on, we have to look a little bit deeper.
Now, as I said, most people's brains go to the maximum extreme, which is that the United States wants to invade Venezuela, which I won't discount as a possibility, but it's not the most logical conclusion.
The reason I say invading Venezuela isn't the most logical conclusion isn't because I think the United States is above that, and it's not because I think such a thing is impossible.
But rather, it's because right now the incentives don't align in that direction.
Because it turns out the United States can get just as much value at a much lower cost by simply exercising a Venezuelan blockade.
And in order to recognize that, you have to look at not just the Venezuela situation, which is what most people are doing, but you actually have to look at the entire broader geopolitical context and the other moves that the Trump administration has made leading up to this point.
And once you do that, you actually have a full picture where you can understand the most likely strategic priorities of the United States.
And again, the point here isn't to agree or disagree with those.
It is simply to understand them correctly.
The broader geopolitical context is this.
Lately, global oil prices have been decreasing drastically, and that's been for a number of different reasons.
A large reason is because for whatever reason, the Saudis have decided to start dumping a lot of oil supply onto the global markets.
That has brought the current price of oil to around $55 per barrel.
And it turns out that that's actually a problem for the United States because the United States recently became the world's largest energy exporter.
But for the United States, a lot of their oil fields, the production costs for the barrels of oil that they produce are above $60.
There's many fields where the production costs are lower than that, but there's also many fields where the production costs are higher than that.
And so a low global oil price actually threatens the United States because a lot of oil infrastructure either has to be run unprofitably or it has to start being shut off.
And in either case, oil is not going to expand.
Oil production is not going to expand during a period of low global oil prices.
Because of this, we have seen the Trump administration respond in a number of ways that they deem to be socially acceptable.
So for example, they have started pushing harder on Russia, pushing for example, more sanctions on Russian oil and pushing China and India to actually abide by those sanctions because taking Russian oil off the market takes off a large amount of Russian oil supply.

Now, the Guardian last week reported that Karen Khan had formally made the allegation, the submission to the ICC defending his decision to prosecute Netanyahu.
They say it was the UK government.
It doesn't name Cameron, but that is who it was, as the Middle East I noted many months ago.
Now, it was established, the ICC.
Let's just go into what happened here in terms of how serious this is.
It was established by the Rome Statute.
Article 40 of the statute says the judges shall be independent in the performance of their functions.
Article 42.
The Office of the Prosecutor shall act independently as a separate organ of the court.
A member of the office shall not seek or act on instructions from any external source.
Article 86.
The state parties shall, in accordance with the provisions of the statute, cooperate fully with the court in its investigation and prosecution of crimes within the jurisdiction of the court.
Now, the UK incorporated the ICC into domestic law via the International Criminal Court Act of 2001.
And furthermore, it's also a signatory to the Vienna Convention of the Law treaties that says every treaty in force is binding on the parties to it and must be performed by them in good faith.
Now, does this mean David Cameron's going to be arrested?
I wish.
No, unfortunately not.
But the reported track showed that the British government sought to violate international law to protect Israel from legal accountability for its genocidal onslaught against the Palestinian people.
And they are willing to blow up whatever remains of the so-called international rules, which the West, of course, always picked and choose from.
And so is the United States, sad to say.

This farce would appear to have gotten out of hand when the long arm of the law even arrested and questioned right-wing hack Katie Holmes, who during a stand-up comedy routine called herself a spasa and was subsequently detained for hours by UK police for the offense.
How absurd.
Yes, the UK has gone far over the edge.

Yes, Mr. Fetzer, I see, you know, the Greenland-Denmark issue is coming up in the press again, and it's in the news because I think Donald Trump has the Louisiana governor, Jeff Landry, is the special envoy to Greenland.
And I think the Denmark government is, you know, wants to have a meeting with Ambassador Landry because they're a little upset.
I don't know why.
But the fact of the matter is, listen, I don't want Denmark.
I mean, not Denmark, but Greenland as part of the United States, because it's going to be a bit of a drain tax-wise.
And of course, you know, it's a military base.
And once we own it, then it becomes all of a sudden now we have all this like interest in the Arctic we didn't have before.
So to me, it opens a can of worms.
And before you know it, we're spending a fortune keeping the military up in the Arctic.
However, I do respect good Machiavellian tactics.
And if Donald Trump wants to annex Greenland, here's how you do it.
Okay.
Now, the first thing is Donald Trump should not telegraph us.
He shouldn't have said anything the whole time.
And he should have kept his mouth closed, which with him is just about impossible.
But the way to do it is you send in, you really call up George Soros and ask him how it's done.
And the way to do it really is you send in like information agents and provocateurs who are probably Inuit themselves.
Maybe you hire them in Greenland and put them on the payroll and basically have them bring up old grudges that the Inuits have against the Danish.
Now, back in the 60s and late 70s, one of the big things is the Danish went in there trying to give birth control to these Inuit mothers.
And some of the birth control caused sterility.
Okay, so that's a great way and a great optic and a great grievance that could be sold to the Inuit people to get them mad at the Danish.
So that's the first thing you have to do.
You have to send agents in there to instigate grievances, you know, and get the Inuit people worked up over the historic wrong.
Make them feel aggrieved, make them feel like they're not getting enough benefits from being part of Denmark, and getting them all feeling as though the white imperialists are exploiting.
Okay, now, of course, we know that in Denmark, they have the highest suicide rate in the world per capita.
And also, the Inuit people there, most of them genetically, are one quarter Danish.
But I don't think that's enough where it's going to, or enough family connections or genetic connections where they're really necessarily going to be that swayed into feeling Danish or part of Denmark.
Okay, so once you get these aggrieved people all angry in Greenland and they're getting all worked up like the way they drum up these color revolutions throughout the world, then you have the natives hold the referendum.
Okay.
Now, if the Danes, you know, after they have the vote and the vote would probably swing right to be an independent nation.
Now, you don't want them immediately annexed.
You want Greenland first to be an independent nation, like Texas was for a while, an independent state, for a while, to let it sit there and stew.
And so it's not seen as like we directly are taking it, like it was our plan all along.
You have to take your time here.
And then what you do is you let Greenland become a separate nation.
Denmark takes the hit.
They pack their bags.
They pull their military out.
You know, as is most of our military is already in there.
And actually, we might want to close some of those bases just to make it seem like we're not that interested in stealing it, just for optics.
Okay.
And then, lastly, after we leave, then you go in and you make the big offer.
And here's the offer.
It's a fantastic deal.
Because let's be honest, Mr. Fetzer, let's say you're an Inuit, you live in Greenland, you're poor.
No wonder why they have high suicide rates.
It's got to be the most miserable, cold, dark place in the world to live.
And they don't even have volcanoes like in Iceland where you can go hop into a hot spring every once in a while.
At least Iceland has that.
So what you do is you offer the Inuits.
Now, there's about 50,000 altogether, the population of Greenland.
And it's simple.
Offer them two-month, a year vacation, then build timeshare apartments in Florida for them.
Provide for all of them free flights in the wintertime.
Right?
So, in other words, you give them some money, you give them access to going to Florida in the winter.
And before you know it, they would vote overwhelmingly to join the United States and be annexed by the United States.
And of course, you'd have to do that later.
You know, you have to take your time.
This is very nuanced, but you don't force it.
You don't use violence.
The only violence, ideally, if there is violence, it should be the Inuits during the secession from the Danes.
But either way, it seems like the Europeans are getting worked up over this issue currently, Mr. Fetzer, like it was six months ago.
Remember, as soon as Trump or actually a year ago, when Trump got in office, Paul, I'm fascinated by all your stuff here.
Now, why do we want Greenland?
Is it for military purposes to position American ICBMs on Greenland?
Is it to loot their mineral wealth, which may be considerable known or unknown to the Danes?
What the hell are we messing around with Greenland for in the first place?
Oh, right.
Exactly.
The reason I could see it is for the mineral wealth.
But I have a feeling we have those same minerals out in the Rocky Mountains and within the United States, let's say we're in Alaska, right?
But it seems like Donald Trump and a lot of American jingoists want Greenland.
I'm just pointing out how to do it.
I'm not advocating to do it.
I'm just describing in a Machiavellian sense how to take a country or a province from Denmark without firing a shot.
You might have to lay out some money without a war and it becomes part of the United States.
But like I said, I don't want to police Iceland.
I mean, Greenland.
I don't want to police it.
I don't want to have troops up there.
But if there's a lot of mineral wealth, and the other thing, too, Mr. Fetzer, is the fishing right in the waters off Greenland.
That could be very valuable.
And who knows about what kind of, I don't think they have much oil-wise or natural gas, but mineral-wise, it could be very important if they have the rare earth elements that, you know, seem to be quite the rage now in the technology sector.
Yeah, I'm willing to bet, Paul, that actually we know and the Danes do not, that there is like a vast lithium deposit in Greenland, something like that.
I don't like this whole business.
It smacks up fraud, deceit, deception, theft, swindle, which is being associated with the United States by way of its president, who appears to me to be engaging in all of the above.
Your thoughts.
Well, if you have a leader, you want him to be at least gifted with Machiavellian schemes.
That doesn't mean you have to get all involved in them or do them, you know, but just to be aware of how power politics and skullduggery works are a requirement for a leader.
Machiavelli says that in the book, The Prince.
You have to be aware of these things.
We don't want to put some naive, wet behind the ears politician up leading us.
We have to have somebody who's somewhat jaded and street smart so he knows what's going on.
And as we know, now, Donald Trump, I don't know what his Machiavellian scheme is for Venezuela, but it's costing us a lot of money keeping those boats off the coast of Venezuela and are keeping our armada there.
You know, and so is the what, I mean, I guess he tried to use that as leverage to scare Maduro to quit, but it seems like that technique isn't working.
So Donald Trump seems like he, you know, like he started this too early.
And if you're going to send the armada out, you're not going to use it, then your bluff failed.
And you should just take, acknowledge that and pull the armada back.
Because it's going to be costing us a billion dollars, you figure.

I had another Machiavellian scheme that they could pull on Trump.
I thought it would be funny.

Just fill it with toxic waste, right?
And put it in the oldest, crappiest ship you got and load it up with all the toxic waste.
It could be nuclear waste, whatever.
Just fill up the ship and float it over, you know, and run the embargo and then let the Americans steal it, right?
And then it turns out they're stuck with a load of toxic waste, which would cause the fortune to crop properly.

Now, the question is, what kind of experimentation of a viral bug they're trying to come up with now?
