The Delingpod - James Delingpole - Robert Jackman - A Taster Aired: 2020-05-20 Duration: 01:56 === The Dellingpole Cafe Insights (01:56) === [00:00:00] Welcome to The Delling Pod with me, James Dellingpole. [00:00:03] I've got a really great podcast, as per usual, lined up for you today. [00:00:07] It's with a fellow spectator contributor, Robert Jackman. [00:00:12] And Robert Jackman, like me, is a lockdown sceptic, and he tells me all about his adventures in breaking the lockdown. [00:00:19] And he tells me other interesting things besides, like, for example, how to get really good seats in the theatre for not very much money. [00:00:29] Anyway, I think you're going to enjoy this podcast very much. [00:00:32] If you want to listen to it now, do please subscribe on my Patreon page. [00:00:38] I'm building up a really good community of like-minded people. [00:00:41] I call it the Dellingpole Cafe or the Cafe Dellingpole. [00:00:45] It's like... [00:00:46] It's like a cafe where the coffee's really good and I choose the music and everyone likes my music and everyone there is simpatico. [00:00:54] So please join my Patreon and don't miss out. [00:00:58] Otherwise, of course, you can wait a few days and listen to the podcast free. [00:01:01] Thank you for listening. [00:01:02] Bye. [00:01:04] ...to enable them to have functioning businesses. [00:01:07] Yeah. [00:01:08] And I think it's not just the economy. [00:01:11] I mean, I think the thing that scares me is just how little discussion there is About the moral value of freedom in itself. [00:01:18] A few weeks ago, we'd effectively criminalised going outside, and you had people talking about phoning their neighbours and reporting people to the police. [00:01:26] You were having people moved on in parks for sitting down on a bench. [00:01:31] And I think even leaving the economy aside, they're just, apart from a few voices, you know, Jonathan Sumption was very good on this, the former Supreme Court judge. [00:01:39] You know, there really didn't seem to be a sense that people should be free to make responsible decisions. [00:01:44] And by all means, you know, nudge them towards making those decisions. [00:01:48] Like, you look at what, you know, what's going on in Sweden. [00:01:51] They are social distancing. [00:01:54] You know, they are shielding older people.
