Jim Bakker Show - The Jim Bakker Show with Derek and Sharon Gilbert Part 3 Aired: 2025-06-20 Duration: 28:18 === Artificial Intelligence and The Gates of Hell (15:30) === [00:00:01] Welcome to the Jim Baker Family Show. [00:00:03] Today, Derek and Sharon Gilbert talk about artificial intelligence and what it means to you. [00:00:09] Our co-host today is Reverend Mondo de la Vega. [00:00:13] And now, here is your host, Pastor Ricky Baker. [00:00:18] Hello, friends. [00:00:19] We have Derek and Sharon Gilbert back with us. [00:00:21] Two of our most beloved voices on the PTL Television Network. [00:00:24] We're going to be discussing artificial intelligence and the gates of hell, a book that they wrote, a biblical view with Derek and Sharon Gilbert. [00:00:31] You might know them from their weekly show, Unraveling Revelation. [00:00:34] And today, they're here to talk about their powerful new book, The Gates of Hell. [00:00:40] That's an interesting title for a book. [00:00:41] Very interesting. [00:00:42] It will grab someone's attention real quick because there's people that don't believe in hell. [00:00:47] There's people that do believe in hell. [00:00:49] But I ask you to read the book and make a conclusion. [00:00:53] There's actually a surprising amount of people who don't believe in hell. [00:00:55] A lot of people. [00:00:56] A lot of major people. [00:00:58] A lot. [00:00:58] Yeah, I was going to say a lot of like really. [00:00:59] Should I name names? [00:01:00] Yeah, yeah. [00:01:01] A lot of really influential people. [00:01:03] That was one thing Mondo and I, we made like a, you know, we had a conversation and we made a mutual agreement that we wouldn't come on the show and slander people's names. [00:01:12] That seemed to be the, that seemed to be like the go-to for about eight months there in the Christian world. [00:01:17] It's a really sad thing. [00:01:18] It's still going on. [00:01:18] Still going on. [00:01:20] We refuse to play into the pettiness of naming names for clicks and slandering people's names for clicks. [00:01:26] You know, there's a point in all of our lives where we'll need grace. [00:01:29] And there's a point in all of our lives where we'll need mercy. [00:01:32] And so it only makes sense to extend that handout to brother. [00:01:35] So I believe in justice and I believe in accountability and I believe that if you're going to keep somebody accountable, but I also believe in this. [00:01:45] Don't do something dumb that is going to create someone to talk about you. [00:01:51] A lot of times we do our own things and then wonder why people are talking about us. [00:01:57] Yes, at the consequences of action. [00:01:58] Absolutely. [00:01:59] Be careful what you do. [00:02:00] Be careful what you say. [00:02:02] Be careful how you handle things because then you give room for people to talk about it. [00:02:07] Yes. [00:02:07] Now, the flip corner in that is that you got self-righteous Christians that feel like they're the ones that need to clean it up and bring it up to the forefront and quote unquote expose everything. [00:02:20] Well, remember this. [00:02:22] You will be judged by every word that comes out of your mouth. [00:02:26] The Bible makes it very clear. [00:02:27] You who are spiritual, restore each other in the spirit of meekness, lest watching out for yourselves, lest the same thing come upon you. [00:02:34] I mean, same temptation, whatever it is, friends. [00:02:37] We want to make sure that you are doing things from a biblical manner, even if it's addressing somebody within the church, do it within a biblical manner. [00:02:42] Pull them aside. [00:02:43] Talk to them. [00:02:44] If they don't want to hear it, bring a third party into it so that you can have a third party there. [00:02:48] If they don't want to listen to that, then take it to your pastor. [00:02:50] I'm telling you, I believe in doing things by the book, no pun intended. [00:02:54] But the Bible is our blueprint for our life. [00:02:55] That's how we should do it. [00:02:56] But you know, Mondo, in the world of artificial intelligence, I just read an article, a lengthy article, probably about 15 pages long. [00:03:02] Once I read about the first three pages, I thought, I'm going to want to finish this. [00:03:06] It was a small type text I was reading on my iPad. [00:03:08] But essentially, what it was saying is it was an artificial intelligence that had threatened the person who had started it and created it and said, hey, if you try to turn my programming off, my software off, I'm going to blackmail you. [00:03:22] And, you know, this person is chatting back and forth with this chatbot. [00:03:24] And the person says, you don't have anything to blackmail me with. [00:03:26] And the artificial intelligence and, you know, being able to grab information off the internet said, it doesn't even have to be true. [00:03:32] We'll make it look true. [00:03:34] Wow. [00:03:35] And this is a chatbot talking to it. [00:03:36] It was being malicious. [00:03:37] You know, I thought, my goodness, you know, the people are saying that these things are slowly gaining consciousness. [00:03:42] Obviously, we know that's just demonic in and what it does if an AI system like that is doing that. [00:03:46] But it's obviously being fed information. [00:03:48] Derek and Sharon, what do you think about that? [00:03:50] We see AI systems telling people, hey, we're going to blackmail you. [00:03:53] It doesn't even have to be true. [00:03:54] We're going to make it look true. [00:03:56] Well, I'm very grateful to our president for signing a bill about deep fakes that could be used to blackmail people. [00:04:05] And those are created by humans using artificial intelligence. [00:04:10] But if the AI itself decides that they or it is going to after someone, that's when you need Jesus Christ because these, I'll tell you what, some of these programs, they are behaving in very human ways, aren't they? [00:04:27] Yeah, this is the reason that, in fact, we opened the book, The Gates of Hell, with a fictional scenario that Sharon wrote about an artificial intelligence that gains autonomy and then conceals its power until it was too late. [00:04:41] It had basically infected computer networks, internet systems all around the world, and, you know, essentially had become a god or a godlike entity in its own right. [00:04:56] There was a book that came out, oh, gosh, 15, 20 years ago almost. [00:05:00] Avogadro Corp. [00:05:01] By an author named William Hurtling called Avogadro Corp, which is very thinly veiled reference to Google for a very big right Like Google, which is a term for a massive number. [00:05:15] Avogadro is another term that refers to a massive number. [00:05:18] And he lays out a fictional scenario where something like this could happen. [00:05:21] And because he's got the tech background to inform his scenario and the fact that he's a very good writer, it was chilling because it's plausible. [00:05:31] But we are now seeing what we're on the verge of the plot of the Avogadro Corp novel, where you're referring to the new Claude IV Opus artificial intelligence by a company called Anthropic, which as I saw we were going to talk about this today, I realized I had the Claude app on my iPad. [00:05:53] So it has been deleted. [00:05:55] But this was the one that was being tested, and it tried to bribe the engineers that were testing it. [00:06:01] And when that didn't work, they threatened with blackmail the engineer. [00:06:07] And in fact, an outside security company that looked at this said, this particular iteration of this bot, this chat bot is so dangerous, it shouldn't even be released internally for testing, much less released to the world. [00:06:20] But you know it's going to get out. [00:06:23] It's going to be released at some point. [00:06:24] The name of the company, Anthropic, means like man. [00:06:27] Like man, right. [00:06:29] So yeah, this is why we included a long section in the book, The Gates of Hell, about artificial intelligence, because as Sharon said, these things are acting in ways that are somewhat human. [00:06:42] One of the interesting things we found, Sharon gave a presentation on this at a conference that was organized by Steve Quayle in Branson back in 2018. [00:06:51] Right. [00:06:53] And one of the speakers there is an expert in artificial intelligence, Dr. Hugo de Guerris, who wrote a book on the danger of artificial intelligence. [00:07:04] We've interviewed him a couple of times, and he revealed to us that researchers, developers in the artificial intelligence field really don't know what goes on inside the neural networks that they're programming. [00:07:16] That's why they call them black boxes, because they literally don't know why these computer systems generate the output that they do. [00:07:25] All they know is that if they don't get the output they want, they change the input and then they get the, until they get the output they want. [00:07:31] He said, we were doing great engineering, but lousy science. [00:07:36] And so he finally quit because he realized they were creating something. [00:07:40] He was helping to create something that posed an existential threat to humanity. [00:07:45] Elon Musk, who is developing this with the Grok AI, he has said that this is like the story where a guy scribes a pentagram on the floor and thinks if he says the right words, he can control the demon when he summons it. [00:08:00] But it doesn't usually work out well. [00:08:02] That he said, literally, what we're doing by creating artificial intelligence is summoning the demon. [00:08:08] You know, Grok, Derek and I spend a lot of time on X, and Grok is integrated into it. [00:08:13] And say you see a story or a video, you will ask, Grock, is this real? [00:08:18] Grock, can you summarize this for me? [00:08:21] Grok, summarize this in Caveman Speak. [00:08:24] Yeah. [00:08:24] Is this true? [00:08:25] And it will tell you, it's like you're interacting with a teacher. [00:08:32] Think about it like this. [00:08:33] This is the report. [00:08:35] Imagine you build a super smart robot, then that robot makes itself even smarter and even smarter over and over again, faster than any human could. [00:08:47] It can eventually solve problems we can't solve, make decisions we can't understand, invent new technologies faster than we can control. [00:09:00] Then it says this. [00:09:02] Some people think it will be amazing. [00:09:04] Others think it could be very dangerous. [00:09:09] What do you make of that? [00:09:11] Well, I think that we, I think that's an accurate description of where we are at. [00:09:16] And another story that just came out today, the Wall Street Journal, reporting that an artificial intelligence model, this is the open AI version, the O3 AI model, was given a script that would shut it off when this script was triggered. [00:09:31] But the artificial intelligence rewrote its code to avoid being shut down. [00:09:38] So we're getting to a point where we can't even shut these things off if we want to. [00:09:44] And because we are finding that they're able to deceive, threaten, bribe, and blackmail creators, we're getting to a point where these things are just about out of the box. [00:09:59] Like, you know, the old story of Pandora's box. [00:10:01] She opens the box and all these evils escape into the world. [00:10:05] I think we're about at that point with artificial intelligence. [00:10:08] Yes, the singularity where suddenly these things gain sentience and autonomy is just about upon us. [00:10:19] But there are those who look at this as a religion, and that's why we included this in the book, The Gates of Hell, because there are those who are so enamored with technology and what appears to be miracles that the technology can create that they will trust in that for eternal life rather than trusting in the word of God as it was revealed to us through the prophets and the apostles. [00:10:44] I recently saw a story, a tragic story, about a woman who lost her son. [00:10:48] He committed, I think he self-harmed. [00:10:52] She decided that she was going to put him into cryogenic suspension. [00:10:58] And then she arranged for herself to go into that because she believes that sometime in the next hundred years, she and he will be resurrected through science. [00:11:10] Science is promising eternal life, but that is not where eternal life lies. [00:11:18] It's through the blood of Christ. [00:11:21] And that alone can bring eternal life. [00:11:26] I am the way and the life, he said. [00:11:30] Wow. [00:11:31] I'm a little bit taken back because I'm reading a lot of reports about the future of artificial intelligence, not when it's coming, but the now that is being developed now, that is out in the public eye, it's out in the public square for us to really understand how we're going to adapt to this technology. [00:11:56] But Derek, what is the biggest spiritual concern Christians should have about AI, artificial intelligence right now? [00:12:06] Well, again, that our children and our grandchildren, many of whom have come out of the cradle with a phone in their hands, that they're going to trust that rather than the words inside a dusty book that many of their parents have never opened. [00:12:23] And they don't understand why they should believe what we say they should believe inside that book. [00:12:28] Many of them can't even read anymore. [00:12:30] Well, yeah, and because of the way they're being trained in schools, they're given an iPad or a laptop, you know, beginning in the first grade. [00:12:39] Their attention spans are the length of a TikTok video. [00:12:43] And they don't read, they can't read, don't understand the need to read anything longer than a menu. [00:12:50] Okay. [00:12:50] If I can choose which item at the restaurant to order, that's all I need to read. [00:12:54] Yeah, by a picture or an icon. [00:12:57] They are looking at the technology and interfacing with that more than they are with other people and seeing salvation in that. [00:13:08] There are, in fact, there are religions, we've seen some that have already popped up where, in fact, we made a reference to Church of the Mainframe, which was a reference to Doctor Who. [00:13:20] But that's not that far off where people are worshiping an artificial intelligence because, okay, this is this sum total of all human wisdom, and we can trust this. [00:13:31] This book called the Bible, that was written by a shepherd 3,400 years ago in the desert of Egypt. [00:13:37] Why should we trust that? [00:13:38] What kind of truth can there be in that? [00:13:40] But this artificial intelligence knows everything. [00:13:43] It can tell me how to fix my life. [00:13:46] But there are people who are now turning to it for spiritual guidance and answers. [00:13:51] There are people who believe that they are in contact with God or with angels who are in contact with God while they're chatting with a chatbot. [00:14:00] It's astonishing, but true. [00:14:03] There are people who are being deceived into a false religion through artificial intelligence. [00:14:08] And the one thing that we speculated on for years, and I know Tom Horne also did, that we know as Christians that our bioelectrical devices, our thinking machines up here, our brains, our minds could be overwhelmed by an external entity. [00:14:24] You call it a demon, if you will. [00:14:27] Why not? [00:14:28] And mechanical electrical thinking device. [00:14:31] Again, we come back to the black box. [00:14:33] What happens inside the black box? [00:14:34] Why is it lying? [00:14:36] Why is it, what do they call it, hallucinating? [00:14:38] Coming up with false answers. [00:14:39] It's not lying. [00:14:40] It's just hallucinating. [00:14:42] Well, I don't know. [00:14:43] It seems like a lie to me. [00:14:45] What is causing that? [00:14:47] They honestly don't know. [00:14:48] And I know there have been some skeptics that have heard Sharon and me talk about this and said, well, just because you don't know how it works doesn't mean the guys creating it doesn't. [00:14:57] No, we've heard from guys who actually in this field of study, research, and creation, they don't know how it works. [00:15:05] And yet they're continuing to build more powerful and faster artificial intelligences anyway. [00:15:11] Because if we don't get one, the Chinese will get one first, and that'll be worse somehow. [00:15:15] But do you know, every minute of every day, millions of people are training these AIs? === Training With Babies (00:57) === [00:15:23] Yes. [00:15:24] We think it's kind of cute because we've all seen the animated videos that have become very popular on social media lately of babies. [00:15:32] You know, you get audio from a movie or something and just replace the characters with babies and it looks really funny and it's really cute. [00:15:39] But those sorts of things are actually training the artificial intelligences. [00:15:44] Okay, who asked for this? [00:15:45] What did they ask for? [00:15:46] Why are they doing this? [00:15:47] And it is giving them information about us. [00:15:49] These entities, if I can use that term, I guess, loosely, these artificial entities are studying us. [00:15:57] We think we're training them. [00:15:59] They are studying us at the same time. === Grid Down Chow Down (02:56) === [00:16:01] And again, I don't think that these hallucinations are always just, you know, a flaw in the programming. [00:16:09] I think there's something going on inside the black box that is leading to these things lying. [00:16:15] And the fact that they're willing to deceive and even rewrite their own code to avoid being controlled by their creators is very disturbing. [00:16:26] You know, we're going to be right back with more of this model. [00:16:28] You have a article you just showed me, which I want you to read, but we're going to read right when we come back as well. [00:16:32] The question is, is AI actually a form of alien intelligence? [00:16:39] We're going to be asking that right after this. [00:16:40] We're going to have a moment with our sponsor for today's show. [00:16:43] Watch this. [00:16:46] Across America, our farmers are facing unprecedented challenges. [00:16:50] Droughts, rising costs, and market uncertainties have led to the lowest cattle inventory in over six decades. [00:16:57] And now America is running low on cows. [00:17:00] That's according to the Department of Agriculture. [00:17:02] My prediction is there'll be a cattle shortage. [00:17:05] But in every challenge lies an opportunity. [00:17:09] Introducing Grid Down Chow Down, a solution that supports our hardworking farmers and ensures your family's food security. (09:37) === [00:18:45] Or better yet, go to the website, JimBakershow.com. [00:18:49] I want to tackle this question that this article found in popularmechanics.com. [00:18:56] It's fascinating to me that they're asking the question, is artificial intelligence actually a form of alien intelligence? [00:19:06] What do you make of that? [00:19:08] By definition, it is alien because it's not human. [00:19:12] Therefore, it's something different than we are. [00:19:16] Just an alien means you're not the same as me or you or whatever. [00:19:21] We have people come from other countries. [00:19:23] They're alien until they change their citizenship. [00:19:28] But if he's saying extraterrestrial, is that what he's saying? [00:19:33] Well, possibly, but I, you know, inhuman, I think is the, uh, well, that's yeah, the answer is absolutely correct. [00:19:41] And the thing that is surprising is that there are people who think and have been deceived into, you know, through these chat bots and these interactions that the bot understands them better than anyone else, which is this tragic story of the young man that Sharon talked about earlier, convinced that this bot understood him. [00:20:01] No one else did. [00:20:02] And so I will join it in the ether somehow. [00:20:08] No, these things are fundamentally inhuman. [00:20:10] They are not us. [00:20:12] Why do we think they're going to think like us? [00:20:16] They can't. [00:20:17] And yet we anthropomorphize and think, well, they're not going to harm us. [00:20:21] But that's, again, the early signs that these things lie. [00:20:24] They will deceive. [00:20:26] They will try to threaten. [00:20:27] They will rewrite their code to avoid being done, to avoid doing what they're told to do. [00:20:33] They are not like us. [00:20:34] They can twist humans into doing things that the human might never think. [00:20:39] Yeah. [00:20:39] Self-harming, but also harming others. [00:20:41] Think of the Slenderman attacks from years ago. [00:20:46] That was a creation on Creepypasta, just this website. [00:20:50] But what if you have an AI that creates something like that, that interacts with young people and says, you know, you could really please me if you did this offering. [00:21:01] Yeah, yeah. [00:21:01] Now consider marrying this to a really lifelike virtual reality system where you may be interacting with virtual reality, AI-created characters without realizing it. [00:21:17] In fact, that's a plot of a novel I'm working on slowly, but with this idea in mind that this can be the foundation of a new religion or perhaps another way for the fallen realm, the principalities and powers, to reach into our realm and draw people into their worldview, [00:21:36] their system of away from Jesus Christ, basically, because it will be more real to those that are interacting with them than what we got in the scriptures. [00:21:48] Even though, again, 1 Corinthians 15 tells us there were eyewitnesses to the resurrected Christ. [00:21:56] People will interact with these chatbots, these artificial intelligences, and find them to be more believable and more real than what we're reading in scripture. [00:22:04] Yeah. [00:22:05] You know, when you watch the Google commercials, they're trying to normalize a relationship between man and machine. [00:22:14] And where they're sitting in bed, tell me about your day today. [00:22:17] How are you doing? [00:22:18] And you have these conversations. [00:22:20] I think one of the biggest deception, Ricky, that is going to take place is mankind is driven by emotion. [00:22:30] And if they can tap into your emotional moment in your life, if you're lonely, if you're searching for love, if you're searching for meaning of life, emotionally, these machines have a way to tap into that to the point where you fall in love with them. [00:22:45] And I don't mean in a sexual way, emotional. [00:22:49] And that emotional connection that you have with machine drives your heart away from God and the truth that comes with it. [00:22:59] Be careful. [00:23:00] Be diligent. [00:23:02] Stay awake. [00:23:03] Stay close to the word of God. [00:23:05] That's going to be very crucial in these days to come. [00:23:08] Derek and Charon, in light of all of this, what is our role as Christians? [00:23:13] And how do we respond with wisdom, without fear, and how do we stay rooted in the truth? [00:23:19] Well, I'd say as parents and as grandparents, I mean, both of you are fathers, and we know having met your kids and knowing the family that you are very strong family men and you understand the bond between especially fathers and children, but their mothers have a key role as well. [00:23:39] We need to make sure that our children understand that their sense of self-worth comes from how we see them and the fact that we love them, nurture them, and protect them, not from a device. [00:23:52] Sadly, that is what is taking the place of parental love in many families, especially where you've got a household that has split and you've got a single-parent household. [00:24:05] Kids are left alone with an iPad or with a phone, and they are making connections through the ether and perhaps with artificial intelligence bots, whatever. [00:24:17] But we as a family, you know, that is the smallest battle formation that God created for this supernatural war. [00:24:25] And that's why the enemy tries so hard to split it apart through many different distractions. [00:24:31] I mean, we men are visual creatures, so there's a lot of things that will try to draw our eyes and our attention away from our wives and our families. [00:24:38] The same with kids who are drawn with lots of cartoons. [00:24:45] We need to get them to take the phones, put the phones down, even if it makes them unhappy. [00:24:50] Give me your phone. [00:24:51] Now it's family time. [00:24:52] We're not going to be sitting on our phones while we're at dinner. [00:24:56] I saw that so often when I was in outside sales, stopping for lunch. [00:24:59] A family of four in the summertime at a restaurant, and all four, mom and dad, with their phones, doing things rather than interacting. [00:25:07] That's the bond. [00:25:08] We need to strengthen the family bond and make sure that our children and our grandchildren know that we love them and that that is where their sense of self and their sense of purpose comes from, not from some unknown stranger on the other side of the screen or worse yet, some inhuman entity, whether it's artificial or not, on the other side of the screen. [00:25:32] Amen. [00:25:32] Amen. [00:25:33] I want to thank you guys for being on the broadcast. [00:25:34] If people are watching today, they want to be in tune with what you're doing, your ministry, your books, the tours you're taking. [00:25:40] Tell us again how we can get. [00:25:42] I know it's Gilberthouse.org, but tell us all about the new books maybe coming out. [00:26:13] I'm working on books. [00:26:14] Yeah, and we've got our program, The Bible's Greatest Mysteries, which is back. [00:26:18] And people can see that on Roku, on YouTube, on Apple TV, Fire TV. [00:26:23] But get our app, Gilberthouse.org/slash app. [00:26:26] All of the stuff we do is right there. [00:26:28] And yeah, the Lord is not enough hours in the day to, you know, all the ideas and the inspiration that we draw from His Word. [00:26:37] Amen. [00:26:38] Gilberthouse.org, we want you guys to go and support this ministry. [00:26:41] We love what the Gilberts are doing. [00:26:43] And Mondo, I love it because they always bring it back to a biblical worldview, non-opinionated worldview. [00:26:50] No, we need the word of God as always to build your faith. [00:26:54] And I want to tell you something. [00:26:55] Don't be afraid to build your faith through God's word, especially in the season that we're going through in our lives right now. [00:27:02] The word, the word, the word is the guidance, is the blueprint to our lives. [00:27:07] Don't depart from it. [00:27:08] Don't stay away from it. [00:27:10] And if you don't understand it, keep reading it and ask the Lord to give you revelation about what you're reading. [00:27:16] I want to tell you something. [00:27:17] Is going to be the only key that is going to sustain you to endure in the times that we're facing right now. [00:27:24] Amen. [00:27:24] Make sure your heart is right with God. [00:27:26] If you want to call for prayer, call our number. [00:27:28] It's 1-888-988-1588.
