Jim Bakker Show - Stop The Car Homie - Mondo De La Vega Aired: 2024-04-01 Duration: 02:57 === I Stood Up To Them (02:56) === [00:00:00] Something is about to go wrong. [00:00:03] And we passed by the church that my sister had invited me. [00:00:06] I looked at the church, and for one second, I felt hope. [00:00:09] Wow. [00:00:10] And I said, Stop the car, homie. [00:00:13] He says, Shut up. [00:00:14] We got to go do our business. [00:00:16] I said, No, stop the car. [00:00:17] I got to go take care of some business. [00:00:19] I promised my sister, listen, I was a gangster of all gangsters, but my word was my word. [00:00:26] And we got into a scuffle, and he pulled the gun on me and said, You better shut your mouth, homie. [00:00:31] And I looked, I said, You can kill me. [00:00:32] I said, But I got to go take care of some business. [00:00:35] My homeboy next to me vouched for me. [00:00:37] He said, Man, let him go, homie. [00:00:38] We'll pick him up in 30 minutes. [00:00:40] He's a good dude, man. [00:00:41] This guy's down for us. [00:00:44] You have to understand, I didn't realize where they were ending up the next morning. [00:00:50] I didn't know what happened to them. [00:00:51] I don't know what happened, but all I know is that the guns were on my chest. [00:00:55] And it said, Where were you last night? [00:00:58] Wow. [00:00:59] The very first time, I felt peace and hope. [00:01:04] Two of the most powerful combinations. [00:01:06] Wow. [00:01:08] I was getting ready to walk out of that church. [00:01:11] I didn't feel good enough. [00:01:13] I never felt good enough to be spoken nice like Steve did about me or you guys. [00:01:19] I was used to being around tables of gangsters, trigger men, cartel members, prostitutes, drug dealers, drug addicts. [00:01:28] That's who I felt comfortable. [00:01:30] And I told the preacher, I don't feel good enough. [00:01:32] I don't think your God can forgive me. [00:01:34] Wow. [00:01:35] And as I'm walking away and I'm getting ready to leave that church to go meet up, I cannot not cry without hearing this song. [00:01:47] En la cruz, en la cruz, yo primero vi la luz. [00:01:52] These singers were singing out of tune. [00:01:55] The guitar player didn't even have all the strings. [00:01:59] And they were singing that old hymn: At the cross, at the cross, where I first saw light. [00:02:06] Amen. [00:02:08] And a tear came down, another tear came down. [00:02:13] What gave me the hope to stand with my homeboys, a shotgun in my back, a pistol in my forehead, and a pistol in my chest. [00:02:21] I knew if I said the wrong thing, Ricky, my brains would be on that cold, in that cold concrete floor because I seen it before. [00:02:29] I had done it before. [00:02:33] But I couldn't deny the love I felt the night before. [00:02:37] Wow. [00:02:38] And the peace that I was looking for. [00:02:42] What made me hopeful is that, and I stood up to my, and you got to read the story because I stood up to them. [00:02:48] This is a powerful story. [00:02:49] I gave it to them and I said to them, I can't deny what happened to me last night.
