[00:00:00]  Because kids are a blessing of God.
[00:00:03]  You're really blessed of God to have a wife that loves you and to have kids.
[00:00:08]  And you lost your leg when you were in your 20s.
[00:00:13]  You were doing tree trimming type things.
[00:00:16]  Yep.
[00:00:17]  So yeah, I was working with a tree stump grinder.
[00:00:23]  And, you know, it wasn't working right.
[00:00:28]  And, you know, in Idaho, it blows a lot in the spring.
[00:00:33]  And I took a step forward to see what was the matter with that tree stump grinder.
[00:00:37]  And the bottom of my pants had these jogging strings on that you can just pull tight.
[00:00:42]  And the wind just whipped that string in there and just yanked my leg in.
[00:00:48]  And, you know, my life changed in a split second.
[00:00:52]  What was it like when it happened?
[00:00:54]  What did you sense?
[00:00:56]  Did you just panic?
[00:00:58]  Did you go crazy?
[00:00:59]  You know, I think I did not panic.
[00:01:05]  I have been blessed that when it seems like when everybody around me is just losing their mind, that is when I thrive.
[00:01:14]  Wow.
[00:01:15]  And so, you know, I was able to, you know, tell the guy that was working with me to call an ambulance.
[00:01:21]  And with my, you know, nursing and paramedic training, I would tied a tourniquet around my leg.
[00:01:29]  You did it yourself?
[00:01:31]  Yeah.
[00:01:32]  Yep.
[00:01:33]  And then I just, you know, sat there and, you know, groaned in, you know, pain and just prayed, you know, for the paramedics to show up as soon as they could.
[00:01:43]  And so, and, you know, it was, it was interesting, you know, through that prayer, you know, I felt a strong sense of comfort, even though I was in so much pain, you know.
[00:01:56]  And I remember asking God, you know, help me get through this, you know, because that day my coin was tossed.
[00:02:02]  Heads, you live.
[00:02:03]  Tails, you die.
[00:02:05]  Wow.
[00:02:05]  It was just so much blood, so much trauma.
[00:02:08]  Wow.
[00:02:09]  And it's interesting as it was, when the paramedic show up, it happened to be one of my paramedic teachers.
[00:02:19]  And so, you know, seeing him was like my prayers have been answered.
[00:02:25]  You know, I knew at that moment that I was going to live.
[00:02:30]  Wow.
