Jim Bakker Show - Having a Desire for Anointing Aired: 2022-09-28 Duration: 06:07 === God Can Use Anybody (04:26) === [00:00:00] Elisha had an ambition for Elijah's anointing. [00:00:05] He had a great ambition. [00:00:07] Can you tell us what that meant? [00:00:08] What a little more about that. [00:00:10] You have mentioned how they were just ordinary people. [00:00:14] Do you want to know what the preparation that Elisha had? [00:00:18] Yes. [00:00:19] Had not been to Oxford or Cambridge, Harvard or Yale. [00:00:22] He was plowing corn. [00:00:24] He was a farmer. [00:00:26] And the Holy Spirit leads Elijah to him and says, you're to be my successor. [00:00:33] Out of the blue. [00:00:34] It just shows in order to be a man of God, a woman of God, you don't need a Harvard education. [00:00:42] God will take you. [00:00:43] And the desire for the anointing. [00:00:45] And look at what God did with these men. [00:00:48] And I would like to think that to anybody, God will do it with you. [00:00:54] And when I think of myself, if God could use me, he could use anybody. [00:01:01] I promise you, listen to me. [00:01:04] When you get to heaven, you're going to find out the truth about me. [00:01:08] It'll be all open. [00:01:09] And what will surprise you, you'll say to yourself, I had no idea. [00:01:14] If God could use RT, he could use anybody. [00:01:18] That's not humility. [00:01:19] It may sound like I'm being humble. [00:01:22] I'm telling you the truth. [00:01:24] You've no idea. [00:01:25] But I come from the hills of Kentucky. [00:01:28] I mean, you're from Minnesota, aren't you? [00:01:30] No, I'm from Michigan. [00:01:32] But I was in Minnesota for education. [00:01:34] But you're a northerner. [00:01:35] You see, you're more sophisticated than Kentuckians. [00:01:40] But honestly, I'm amazed that God could use me. [00:01:43] And I just want to encourage anybody. [00:01:45] Yes. [00:01:45] Amen. [00:01:46] He's looking, God is looking for somebody that just, though. [00:01:53] That's a highly respected church. [00:01:58] It's called God's Sense of Humor. [00:02:01] Yes. [00:02:02] But you know, we meet people who have, they purchase every one of your books. [00:02:10] That's right. [00:02:11] Wow. [00:02:11] So you're honored by so many. [00:02:13] You are. [00:02:14] You know, people want your book. [00:02:16] You wouldn't keep writing books if people weren't. [00:02:19] Because you teach. [00:02:20] You're teaching is non-stop. [00:02:23] But you have a wisdom. [00:02:26] Yeah. [00:02:27] That is an anointing. [00:02:29] And I believe you have a double anointing. [00:02:32] Do you know? [00:02:33] I was brought up in Kentucky in the days when there were only 48 states. [00:02:40] You're old enough to remember when it was 48. [00:02:44] Yes. [00:02:44] I was young. [00:02:45] Well, we had a slogan in Kentucky in those days. [00:02:52] Please forgive me for this. [00:02:54] We had a slogan in Kentucky. [00:02:56] Thank God for Arkansas. [00:03:00] I love it. [00:03:01] Why? [00:03:02] Because in the days when there were only 48 states, Kentucky was 47th in educational standards. [00:03:13] Only Arkansas was at the bottom. [00:03:15] So we said, thank God for Arkansas. [00:03:17] Oh, my. [00:03:17] And that's the kind of education I had. [00:03:20] And I'm telling you, I'm not making this up. [00:03:24] And if God could use me, He can use anybody. [00:03:27] And the fact that He could use Elisha. [00:03:30] In fact, even James chapter 5, referring to Elijah. [00:03:34] See, he's a man just like us. [00:03:36] And so the idea that you've got to be extraordinary in order for God to use you, not true. [00:03:42] Right. [00:03:44] Just be obedient and say, yes, here's what I love, what you said about the anointing. [00:03:48] And this is such, I mean, I can go on and on, but I don't want to take up the time, honey. [00:03:52] And When you see anointing in your own life at work, at your job, with people, you know it is not you. [00:04:02] Never, ever will you be able to take credit for any level of anointing. [00:04:08] It is all down to the God of Elijah. [00:04:11] I want more of his anointing. === Beyond Your Limit (01:55) === [00:04:13] God gets all the glory. [00:04:15] You see, I define anointing a little differently than some. [00:04:19] The anointing is the Holy Spirit enabling your gift to function with ease. [00:04:28] You see, we all have a gift. [00:04:30] The problem with many of us, we think, well, I want his gift. [00:04:33] I want her gift. [00:04:35] And God says, well, look, I've made you like you are. [00:04:38] And Romans chapter 12, verse 3 talks about everybody living within the measure of his faith. [00:04:46] That means limit. [00:04:47] We've all got a limit to our faith. [00:04:49] The trouble is, many of us want to go outside our limit and say, I want a healing gift or I want a prophetic gift. [00:04:57] And God says, look, I made you like you are. [00:05:00] If you will be content with the way you are, I will use that. [00:05:04] And that's what I try to get over. [00:05:06] It's the enabling power of the Spirit to help you to function with ease. [00:05:13] You see, here's what happens. [00:05:14] You go outside your anointing, burnout. [00:05:17] Boy, totally true. [00:05:18] You see, you remember that book years ago called the Peter Principle? [00:05:23] Yes. [00:05:24] The idea everybody's promoted to the level of their incompetence and they have jobs that they shouldn't have because they wanted better pay or more prestige. [00:05:34] Listen, the Holy Spirit will never promote you to the level of your incompetence. [00:05:41] And if you live within the way that God leads you, there'll be no burnout, nervous breakdown. [00:05:48] People want something they don't have, and God says, I didn't give you that. [00:05:52] And that's what I hope the book will do for people. [00:05:55] It does. [00:05:55] Enable you to see that the way he made you is the way he will use you. [00:06:01] And don't try to be the next president or the next Elijah. [00:06:06] Just be what God has called you to do.
