Jim Bakker Show - Let God Clear Your Name Aired: 2022-09-28 Duration: 03:19 === Controlled By Scripture (03:19) === [00:00:00] The verse that has, I would like to say, controlled me, not entirely, but a verse that back in 1956, after that experience of the Holy Spirit we talked about yesterday, somebody read to me, an old mentor, John 5, 44, that gripped me and I never could throw it off. [00:00:26] It's when Jesus said to the Pharisees who didn't believe in him. [00:00:32] Jesus said, well, how can you? [00:00:34] How can you believe who receive honor one of another and seek not the honor that comes from God only? [00:00:40] You see, it was not on the Pharisees' radar screen to want the honor of God. [00:00:45] They just wanted approval from one another. [00:00:47] And Jesus said, this is why you don't believe. [00:00:50] And that verse became my life verse to this day. [00:00:54] Now, I can't say, Jim, Lori, that I've always lived up to it because it's a pretty high standard. [00:01:00] But I've sought to. [00:01:01] And that means I will not try to clear my name, make myself look good, push myself, open doors, pull strings, let God do it all. [00:01:15] And this is the way I've sought to live. [00:01:18] And so every church that I've had, whether Palmer, Tennessee, Blue River Baptist Church in Salem, Indiana, Westminster Chapel, all of them, I didn't do a thing. [00:01:32] Not a thing. [00:01:32] They came to me. [00:01:34] And that's it. [00:01:35] I didn't try to get on your show, did I? [00:01:37] Did I write a letter to say, please have me? [00:01:39] No. [00:01:40] I couldn't do that. [00:01:41] I'm honored. [00:01:42] But this is the way I've lived. [00:01:44] And then when I saw this about Elisha, he didn't even bother to make Gehazi go back and tell him naming the truth. [00:01:53] Just let Damon think it. [00:01:55] And I think of myself, there are things people say about me. [00:01:58] Yeah. [00:02:00] There's something, I hope it's all right to say this. [00:02:03] It's so good. [00:02:04] There was something on the internet. [00:02:06] I don't know if it's still there now or not. [00:02:09] Under Wikipedia about me, it's just not true. [00:02:13] It's just not true. [00:02:14] Yeah, we understand. [00:02:15] And a friend of mine said, I know the people in charge of Wikipedia. [00:02:19] You can change that, R.T. [00:02:21] I said, oh, no, I prefer the anointing. [00:02:25] Leave it, leave it, leave it. [00:02:26] Let them think it. [00:02:27] It says something. [00:02:28] It's just not true. [00:02:30] It would be nice to rub it out for people to think what they do. [00:02:35] I thought, look, it's okay. [00:02:37] And this is the thing I admire about Elisha. [00:02:39] That's my point. [00:02:40] Do you see what I'm saying? [00:02:41] It shows he was a real man of God. [00:02:44] There are some people that could be prophetic, but they're not men of God. [00:02:48] You see, the gifts and calling of God are without repentance. [00:02:52] And you have people with prophetic gifts who may not live godly lives. [00:02:57] And people wonder, how could it be? [00:03:00] King Saul had the gift of prophecy. [00:03:04] On his way to kill David, prophesied. [00:03:08] Figured that out. [00:03:09] These are things I don't understand. [00:03:11] But the gifts and calling of God are irrevocable. [00:03:14] And so the fact that you can have a gift doesn't mean you're a man of God.
