=== Betrayal In The Church (02:55) ===

[00:00:00]  How do we avoid being offended about when people lie about us and put us down and hurt us?
[00:00:13]  I think I went to the College of Hurt.
[00:00:20]  You talk about having a whole town against you.
[00:00:24]  I had a whole country against me.
[00:00:26]  And then when I went to court, It was, and they read it right out in front.
[00:00:32]  United States of America versus Jim Baker.
[00:00:37]  That's pretty heavy stuff, people.
[00:00:40]  Have you ever had anybody lie about you?
[00:00:42]  Anybody fight you?
[00:00:47]  Betray.
[00:00:49]  That's terrible.
[00:00:50]  Betrayal is really bad, isn't it?
[00:00:54]  How come we have betrayal in the church even?
[00:00:57]  Sometimes, you know, religious people will betray us.
[00:01:01]  People we think that are our friends betray us.
[00:01:04]  That's pretty hard to get over.
[00:01:06]  So how can we unmoved, be unmoved by what man is doing to us and focus more on what God's wanting to do for us?
[00:01:19]  Well, Jim, I know that hurt and pain is very real.
[00:01:24]  And this world is not an easy place to live, actually.
[00:01:28]  No, it's not.
[00:01:30]  That's right.
[00:01:30]  Because we live in a fallen world and we're not perfect people.
[00:01:35]  And even in marriages, you have the ability to absolutely wound to the depths that spouse.
[00:01:43]  And what do you do with that kind of pain?
[00:01:47]  And it really, I mean, for me, it just came down, it comes down to a decision of how are you going to live?
[00:01:55]  Am I going to live as a victim for the rest of my life?
[00:01:59]  Or am I going to dive into this word of God and everything I know about him?
[00:02:05]  And that's going to be my reality.
[00:02:08]  Did the other happen?
[00:02:10]  It absolutely happened.
[00:02:13]  And it says in Matthew chapter 18 that that other person, they absolutely owe you a debt.
[00:02:20]  They do.
[00:02:21]  But we owed God a greater debt.
[00:02:25]  And he forgave our debt.
[00:02:27]  And he says, I forgave your debt, which is much greater than any debt that somebody owes you.
[00:02:35]  You must forgive your debtor.
[00:02:38]  And it's interesting, Jim, that even in the Lord's Prayer, that comes across a lot of people's mouths, even people who pray it and they don't even know what they're saying.

=== Forgiving with God's Love (01:12) ===

[00:02:48]  But they say, forgive us as we forgive those who trespass against us.
[00:02:57]  We've said it and said it.
[00:02:58]  You've heard it and heard it.
[00:03:01]  But is it a reality in our life?
[00:03:04]  And it comes down to a decision of this is going to be my reality.
[00:03:10]  And the fact is that you're probably going to have to forgive again.
[00:03:15]  And the fact that Jesus said, excuse me, that you will have to forgive 490 times, 490 times in one day, what is Jesus asking of us?
[00:03:27]  Right.
[00:03:29]  But he didn't.
[00:03:30]  He wasn't unfair because he equipped us with the very love of God.
[00:03:37]  He put it on the inside of us, in our heart, when he came in, the Holy Spirit.
[00:03:41]  You know that.
[00:03:42]  Romans chapter 5, verse 5.
[00:03:45]  And so we have the love of God.
[00:03:48]  And we can forgive.
[00:03:50]  And I just want to say that to somebody that's listening.
