Jim Bakker Show - 5 Steps for Your Next Prayer | Robert Henderson on The Jim Bakker Show Aired: 2022-06-06 Duration: 03:46 === Repentance For Sin Against God's Holiness (03:39) === [00:00:00] Back in your book, you talk about five-step prayer. [00:00:09] Actually, David used the prayer. [00:00:11] Can you talk about that? [00:00:13] Yeah, you know, you know, in Psalms 32, that's a great psalm because David actually used, I used to teach, he used three different things to describe sin. [00:00:25] Because we all think this sin is sin. [00:00:27] Well, no, he talks about, he talks about sin, transgression, and this is the one I didn't know before, deceit and iniquity. [00:00:37] And sin, and this is sin is us, is us sinning against the holiness of God. [00:00:47] Wow. [00:00:48] Okay, in other words, God's holy, and it's whenever I do something that violates his holiness. [00:00:54] Transgression is a sin against the authority of God because it means to step across a line. [00:01:00] And in the scripture, that particular infraction seems to carry a heavier judgment. [00:01:08] That when people sinned against God's authority, delegated authority, whatever, but those are two different kinds of sins. [00:01:14] One against the holiness, one against the authority. [00:01:17] Deceit is a sin against somebody else when you search the word out. [00:01:22] It means I hurt somebody else. [00:01:24] I did something that worked against them, that violated them. [00:01:28] And then iniquity is the sin that's in the bloodline. [00:01:33] So those are the four things that the enemy will use in the court of heaven. [00:01:38] So it's really a good habit just to walk through those on a regular basis and just say, Lord, I repent for any sin against your holiness. [00:01:46] I repent for any sin against your authority. [00:01:49] Any place I've rebelled against you. [00:01:51] I repent against any sin against somebody else. [00:01:54] And if I need to bring restitution to that person or whatever, I'll do it. [00:01:59] But also repent for any sin that's in the bloodline. [00:02:03] And so once you deal with that and you say, Lord, now let the blood speak. [00:02:08] Well, what happens is the devil loses his case against you. [00:02:12] It's just lost. [00:02:13] And so those are four distinct sins that we can take into the courts and undo the cases of the devil against us. [00:02:24] And then, of course, out of that, as I said earlier, Psalms 32, David actually spoke of repentance that the ungodly, or the godly rather, are the ones that repent. [00:02:35] See, we think that it's the ungodly that need to repent. [00:02:41] No, see, our life should be a life of repentance. [00:02:43] It should be short. [00:02:44] I just should live a life of repentance. [00:02:45] Non-stop. [00:02:46] Not because I think I'm a bad person. [00:02:48] No, no, no. [00:02:49] Jim's always taught us. [00:02:50] I mean, from the time I met Jim 24 years ago, he always said, Lori, keep short accounts with God. [00:02:55] That's right. [00:02:56] Just keep them short. [00:02:57] Just, you know, something's going on in your heart. [00:02:59] Just keep it short. [00:03:00] Constantly. [00:03:02] And what you're saying. [00:03:03] Deal with it. [00:03:04] Yeah. [00:03:04] And that's what you're saying. [00:03:06] And see, we've always known that. [00:03:08] If you add the court of heaven perspective into it, well, you realize that forgiveness is actually a legal issue. [00:03:16] It's where whatever you've done, you're forgiven. [00:03:20] It no longer has a legal right to demand something from you. [00:03:24] That's what forgiveness is. === Promise of Forgiveness (00:21) === [00:03:25] That I'm not going to hold that against you anymore. [00:03:29] And so if you realize that, then I'm realizing, okay, when I do these things, now I can ask for a court decision to be rendered in my behalf that actually frees me. [00:03:40] And I promise you, if you'll do that, all the condemnation and guilt that you carry will just evaporate.
