Jim Bakker Show - A General’s Perspective on Ukraine | Lt. Gen. Jerry Boykin on The Jim Bakker Show Aired: 2022-05-03 Duration: 04:42 === Russia's Miscalculation (04:41) === [00:00:00] I'm going to start out with the war in Ukraine because we've been living in that war ourselves. [00:00:08] Yeah. [00:00:09] And we're just overwhelmed by what we see. [00:00:13] Yeah. [00:00:13] The death, the carplex. [00:00:18] The destruction of a country. [00:00:20] I've never seen anything like that because we have not. [00:00:23] You probably have seen it in person in war, but I've never seen war like this every day on our screens and just a country basically wiped out. [00:00:36] From your standpoint, General, what is the goal? [00:00:39] What is the reason that Russia is doing this? [00:00:43] You need to step back a few years and reflect on a statement that Vladimir Putin made, where he talked about the disintegration of the Soviet Union was one of the, was the largest geopolitical mistake in the 20th century. [00:01:04] What he was saying was when the Soviet Union came apart that essentially the whole world was paying a price for that. [00:01:15] His objective has always been to restore the Soviet Union, to bring back those satellite countries that created the Soviet Union. [00:01:27] The obvious one to start with was the Ukraine. [00:01:31] And because he had, in his mind, he could justify through his propaganda, he could justify going after the Ukraine simply because at one time it was not only a satellite of Russia, it was part of Russia. [00:01:45] And in fact, historically, at one time, it was Russia. [00:01:50] And then Moscow sort of became the center of the nation of Russia. [00:01:58] But he is trying to restore the Soviet Union, and he had to take the Ukraine first. [00:02:06] But I got to tell you, Jim, and we can talk about this as you want to, this is a war of miscalculations. [00:02:16] He miscalculated how the Europeans would act, because the Europeans came together. [00:02:24] They were unified. [00:02:25] He miscalculated how NATO would act. [00:02:28] NATO did the same thing. [00:02:30] He miscalculated how the tenacity and the war-fighting spirit of the Ukrainian people. [00:02:38] And then finally, he very much miscalculated the capabilities of his military, which has been a miserable failure. [00:02:48] A war that was only supposed to go about three days before they had the capital and were in the process of setting up a puppet government has now dragged on for five weeks, and it's going to go on even further. [00:03:02] So Putin, I think as a result of this, ultimately, this will be his demise. [00:03:10] Wow. [00:03:11] Are you surprised that the Ukraine has fought back instead of surrendering to Russia and Vadimer Putin? [00:03:20] No, Jim, and I was very clear in leading up to this, as I did media appearances. [00:03:28] I said the Ukrainian people are tough people. [00:03:31] Now, they have a lot of corruption in Ukraine as well, and people keep bringing that up as if they forget that we in America have corruption within our government. [00:03:42] But they are a tough people. [00:03:46] They are a people that have endured a lot of hardship throughout their history, and I am not surprised that they have fought. [00:03:56] But I will tell you, they've exceeded my expectations. [00:03:58] I knew they were going to fight hard and I knew it wasn't going to be a quick battle, but I'm going to tell you, they've even exceeded my expectations here. [00:04:06] And I think that fundamentally they have already won this war. [00:04:12] That we don't know what Putin's going to do in the future. [00:04:14] He may level the entire country. [00:04:17] He may ultimately occupy the entire country. [00:04:20] But these Ukrainians have won this war because this is a Samson and Goliath event right here. [00:04:29] And what you're seeing is you are seeing an outgun, outnumbered military that is held together by a common goal, and that is to defend their way of life.
