Jim Bakker Show - Forgiveness is a Conscious Act | Kathy DeGraw on The Jim Bakker Show Aired: 2022-02-10 Duration: 03:12 === Forgiving From the Heart (03:11) === [00:00:00] Forgiveness, you say, is a conscious decision to make. [00:00:09] I have a heart. [00:00:10] When I went to prison, God spoke to me I would not be out of prison because I had a 45-year sentence unless I forgave everyone. [00:00:21] So I did. [00:00:22] I wrote their names down on paper. [00:00:25] But then he said, you got to forgive from your heart. [00:00:30] That was different because it's one thing to say it. [00:00:35] It's another thing to believe it. [00:00:38] So I believe right now, this time when there's such hatred and division, political systems fighting each other, that we've got to love our enemies. [00:00:48] How are we going to do that, Kathy? [00:00:50] We have to. [00:00:51] Well, I want to go back to, I knew that hurt and that pain and how I needed forgiveness in my life through a situation that I had been through. [00:01:02] And so I didn't know where could I go, who could minister to me to help me forgive. [00:01:09] So I went to the only place I knew. [00:01:11] I went prostrate to the floor and asked the greatest team of three, Father God, Holy Spirit, and Jesus. [00:01:18] I'm like, I don't know what book to read. [00:01:20] I don't know what counselor or pastor to go to because I had unforgiveness in my heart. [00:01:24] And so I spent two years of my life prostrate on the carpet before the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and said, help me root it out of me. [00:01:36] Did you have to have this deliverance before you got into this? [00:01:40] You have a healing ministry. [00:01:42] Correct. [00:01:43] And the power of God doesn't work when you got unforgiveness. [00:01:47] It's true. [00:01:48] So I had to get that for myself. [00:01:51] And I wasn't looking to have a healing and deliverance ministry. [00:01:54] I was just looking to heal my own soul, my own wounds, what I knew was holding me back from the fullness of God because I knew I had unforgiveness in my heart. [00:02:04] And when we look at Matthew 18, 34 and 35, it talks about the parable of the unforgiving servant. [00:02:11] And it says the master forgave the servant's debt, but the servant didn't forgive another's debt. [00:02:18] But look at this. [00:02:20] This was, and in anger, his master turned him over to the jailers for punishment until he paid back everything he owed. [00:02:29] But this is a part of the verse that really gets me. [00:02:31] This is how my heavenly Father will treat you unless you forgive your brother from your hearts. [00:02:38] And that's what you said, Pastor Jim, from our hearts. [00:02:42] So we have to pray for those who hurt us, but we also need to forgive and we have to do it from the heart. [00:02:51] And I tell people sometimes we can't do it from our own heart, but the Holy Spirit resides in us. [00:02:56] So we co-labor with him and we partner with him and say, Holy Spirit, help me do this. [00:03:02] We have, you know, Jesus left us a helper, a comforter, a confidant, a friend, a guide, a counselor. [00:03:09] And so we don't have to do it in our own strength.
